Quick WIP to show I’m alive. Busy with a billion other things as usual… Background will be worked on, place holderish for now
Spent the w-e working on other stuff but I decided to try out something different, so here’s a “commission” for Fringilla, trying out a quick sketch + value idea, and see if he likes it to go any further.
The goal would be to finish it within a week.
In case it’s not clear (chances are high it isn’t) it’s his asura engineer, doing some sort of air strike on a human with his shield up. And the asura is holding a flamethrower.
Watched the gw2 vid, I loved how you talked about the female armors. For people who draw it’s so stupid seing bikini armor all the time.
Watched the rust one too, even though I knew nothing of the game and had a laugh.

Fringilla: Yes it’s a simple mirror because it’s half the work and I’ve always been terrible at mirroring things myself. Symmetry isn’t a strong point. I’m not going to promise anything, as I have collected about 20 files from different people about their asuras, so I’m kinda going down the list, and as you can see I’m going really slow as I’m trying to do some prep work and what not. Also I suck at this so it’s quite hard. What I could do is do some linework with base colors blocked in, but I’m quite busy so I’ll have to try and fit it in my schedule. Maybe reduce some study work to get it done. Also focusing on asuras atm, and haven’t checked your gallery if you have any.
Last thing about the pose I’m just trying what they called an orthographic view, which is sort of like the Davinci man pose. Supposedly you do the side views too.
Quick update for today, spent most of the day on studies and an oil painting, so I tried doing the back view, and also blocked in the colors on the armor. The colors are based on the screenshot I have, only thing I added in is the red, not sure it fits but I wanted some variety because it was all blues and greys. Hopefully more tomorrow/this w-e
Really nice. I like how it picks up at 40s.
I have to admit tho, that appart from the original bits, I did not feel this as a part from the GW universe. It has a very different setting feeling imo.
Really nice cosplay. Impressive work. It must be amazing to see an armor design come to life for real.
My only gripe is the lack of focus points on the armor, as it’s quite monotone. Maybe add some complementary light touches where you want the eye to look.
Got quite a bit done today, so instead of just one illustration preview, you get two!
If you have any suggestions or crits, fire them away as I can still change things.

I’m doing the JP for the chest. Without the bomb this isn’t hard.
As you can see all the point that I brought up are in regards to getting gibbed randomly by the griffons thus destroying the bomb.
Can someone please tell me how this can be done?
I’ve been trying for the past hour and I keep getting randomly hit by griphons.
They sometimes manage to hit me even if they are far away. Their attack animation sometimes starts way before I’m in range, thus as I jump on their platform they insta hit me. If i’d dodge I’d just fall down and fail anyway.
And lastly their animation is really bugged because sometimes it takes 2s for them to hit sometimes it feels like they hit me in 1/2 a second

Because I have a really hard time drawing anything but things from life and photos (basically studies) and don’t really do more personal work, I thought I’d give fan art a go.
I’m still at the very beginning stages of my art journey but here’s some stuff.
I went through other people’s art topics and looked at the requests some were getting and tried to use the photographs to make my own. Someone asked for his engi to be drawn with a golem. Boring frontal pose but gotta begin somewhere!
And here’s a sheet of Asura poses and a skeleton and muscle overlay. I find with many Asuran fan work, that the face is really with can kill a piece. I’m not there yet but I’m going to practice some more
Let’s just remove the thief! Seriously, everyday there’s a new post about a different ability that needs to be nerfed. The only one that needed a nerf was HS. Learn to counter it with condition removal and the thief wasted all that spamming and is out of initiative.
True. Ppl dont learn to counter thief attacks or dont know how play his own character and go cry to forum and start thousands of QQ topics where want nerf some skill.
During last one month I read here tons of QQ topics from crying kids about:
nerf backstab,
nerf vital shot,
nerf body shot,
nerf headshot,
nerf death blossom,
nerf stealth,
remove stealth,
nerf pistols (it really made me laught, they said that pistols are OP :-D and cry for nerf – total nonsense)
nerf dancing daggers
nerf cloak and dagger
nerf steal
nerf heartseeker
nerf/delete our initiative system
… and much more QQ topics here during last months
You still have some inside psychological problems with all thief skills and must go cry every day here on forum and ruin game to other players. I see problem in your playing of your character and no on thief skills. I have one good solution for you. Stop playing online games and go play tetris. Dont play GW2 if you have so big problem with thieves and dont ruin playing to other players which are satisfied. You would be crying here every day even thief has only basic attacks with no other skills: “Thief has only one skill but this skill is very OP and deal some damage to other players, please nerf it…QQ.” You all crying kids cannot imagine how embarrassing you are with all your posts. You only ruin game for players and make hard work for moderators. If I were on moderator post i would ban you all only for crying on forum with no mercy.
Defending the thief class is pointless. Having v good burst. vgood escape mechanisms stealth and excellent gap closers = op
Just tested it, sb using infiltrator’s is slightly faster than hs. And so very few people would burn their haste just to move faster.
And for the 10th time, I’m talking about the skill in terms of gap closing.
Heartseeker range needs nerfed (300 max). Heartseeker needs to have a target to engage the leap (like IS needs one) so you can’t skip away like a fairy attacking the wind. This really needs to be addressed.
warrior GS has two closers that can be used without a target for mobility, elementalist have ride the lightning, there are plenty of gap closers that have no need for a target and are used for mobility as well. yeah, heart seeker does more damage, but only when your opponent has less than half health, and it is so easy to dodge/counter. HS spam is kind of like hundred blades, it gets a lot of hate for its high damage potential, while how easy it is to counter is completely overlooked. when it is spammed, if you dodge and immobilize,chill, or cripple they will use all their initiative in one spot hitting air.
also, anet has changed abilities for consistency in the past so if you want heart seeker to require a target, than all gap closers that can currently be used for mobility would probably have to undergo the same change as well.
Thing is you’re talking about the other classes skills in terms of mobility, not gap closing. RTL is used to cover ground fast, same for GS warrior skills. Thieves don’t use HS to move faster… it’s when you try to kite them, that they start using it.
And I’m trying not to bring up it’s damage potential, just the gap closing part. Why isn’t working like death blossom?
But why should it close gaps? What’s the justification behind it. Let my guardian leap 4x too

The problem isn’t the skill per say, it’s the fact it can be spammed to close gaps so easily.
I love all the comments about crip/imm/chill. Usually the skills that trigger any of these conds have semi long cds (approx 15s give or take across most classes), so while it’s on cd hs can be used freely.
And using said conditions on any other class will aslo screw over their gap closer. But they can’t recast once the condi is off. They have to wait till it’s back up and get kited while waiting.
I’m just trying to find the logic behind an ability to does decent damage AND closes gaps. As it has been said it has a 450 range. That’s pretty big.
Imo the problem lies with the thief’s initiative mechanic, allowing some skills to be used more than once. If it had a cd the range could be justified. Except it hasn’t.
Still want to hear the reasoning behind it.
(also consider stealth is a gap closer [even more so if traited])
They shouldn’t be instant for all of them I think. Or if they are cds should be longer.
I’m thinking about the aoe fear. That one would be really strong.
But on the other hand you have the moa for protection, but takes like 2 1/2 s to cast. pretty silly.
Either reduce damage from aoe, or improve our pet heals or just plain buff all pets health and armor
Why is heartseeker a gap closer when thieves already have so many + decent amount of speed boosts?
This wouldn’t be such a problem if it worked like other classes, but it’s spammable.
Legit question, no troll
1. Why are my pets dying to randomdly thrown out aoe? Could we give them 50-90% aoe damage reduction.
2. Why do 70% of pets skills take 2s to activate? Aoe fear with 2s cast can’t move sure is hard to dodge… and even single target stuff can be really slow to trigger
This is just mind boggling on a class (or spec if bm) that relies on pets. And 45s pet swap sure is fun, second pet dies after 5-10s

I started playing the game today,
so after downloading it for the first time on my mac I tried playing.
At first it simply wouldn’t run. After a few tries it magically worked. I played for about 2 hours before the game crashed. Since the crash the game simply can’t run anymore. I get a black screen, then back to the desktop…
I’ve re-installed it hoping it might fix it, but it didn’t change a thing.
I now have to boot windows in order to play.
Anyone has a clue about this?
I will upgrade my OS because I’m still running Snow Leopard and heard that might be it
