This is the first MMO that PUNISHED the players in loot rewards if players tried to farm.
In general, lot of players would enjoy, motivate themselves to go kill mobs in hope of receiving some good loots. Not in this game, loot drops nerfed, DR cap. So if you stay at one place, killing 1 type of mob or repeating the same dungeon for over 2 hours (CoF p1,) you will hit the ceiling fast.

I never saw MMO in the past that restricted players from farming, instead they encouraged players to go farm. I know some players do not like farming but some players do like. People may say because of bots so ANet nerf’ed the loots. That is a lame reason. Bots will exist in any MMO, nerf’ed loots, DR cap will only hurt the real players not bots.

Nerf’ed loots to solve bots problem showed that ANet had no clue on how to deal with bots. They just slammed out a dirty quick fix which in return hurts their own player base.

Only reason for game that nerf, cap the loot table is they run out of things to offer to players. They are afraid of players reaching the top and obtain all goodies way too fast (if they spent time farming)

This game will never grow into legendary term as MMO’s Killer. I am afraid if the game continues in this trend (bugs not fixed, nerfs everywhere) then the only player left to play this game at the end of the year 2013, is dev.

To Dev: I still have hope in this game, please don’t shatter my hope.

Reason: You clearly did not play Gw1. They nerfed about every build that allowed you to farm solo ( Under world especially… the w/rt got nerfed a lot, along with others ). IMO I think they want you to farm in groups…but hey I could be wrong.

Nerf’ed build = encourage people to farm in group.
Nerf’ed loots, DR cap = encourage people to stop farming.

10G/HR CoF Path 1 Farming [Guide]

This doesn’t sound like a beginner’s guide. Just a tutorial. And I feel like most of these are a given for people who do them. It’s not that hard to get down, a better guide would be how other non-dps dependent classes approach it imo.

It’s a beginners guide to CoF P1 Farming.
Not CoF Path 1

If you want this guide to include other classes the petition AN to buff their damage.

Ah…right. I guess what I’m trying to say really is that you are actually really neat in writing a dungeon guide, very comprehensive and clear, but I am just flustered at why out of all the dungeons you choose to write one for, you choose cof path1 because it covers such a small percentage of players. I mean, are there really that many zerk warriors out there that do not know how this works? I feel like (“just follow me and dps!”) is pretty sufficient for this path in particular. Given your technique in explaining, your write-up abilities would be far better useful for something like Arah Seer Path (p4).

Honestly this took me about 2 hours to make, and yes CoF path 1 makes you INSANE amounts of money right now it is INSANELY broken. There are A LOT of players who farm CoF path 1 for this reason. Learning the tips and tricks to turning your 10 minute group into a 5 minute group requires you to either learn it yourself or run in a group that teaches you the techniques. Many players are excluded from CoF farm groups because of inexperience and they never learn how to at least PRETEND to be experience long enough to GET experienced.

Also, if there weren’t already 100 guides for every dungeon path out there on youtube, I’d consider it.

It is not INSANE amount of money anymore. It is fast but the amount of money for completing the path had adjusted. If you are running P1, pay attention to the reward money at the end, you will see the drop. Also, if you are running P1 for more than an hour now with MF gears, the loots won’t be good and reward money at the end is around 13s/run. I tested yesterday for 2 hours and I hit the DR ceiling for loots and money after an hour.

Anet should have added the lucky/ unlucky titles to the game. Progression being determined by relatively good and bad drops from the mystic forge. Come to think of it jus the unlucky tile.

I would like to have the unlucky title as “Toilet Lover” for such a bad luck that I have with Mystic Toilet.

Note: Exotics that I got are sold to TP to buy more rare greatswords. But after 11 tries of no precursor, I said what the heck and use all my leftover exotics to mystic forge as well.

Then the final straw…

Summary

No of Sets: 12 sets within 1 day!
Total gold spent: 552g
Rare Swords: 1760 (incl, rare sword you get from MFing 4 of it)
Combine Count: 440 combines
*Result: * Emotionally damaging / disheartening (LOL! But no kidding!). It’s like going to casino with a lot of cash in hand and then go home empty handed.

Lesson learned: Mystic forge can get you rich sometimes or consumes all your hardwork. Learn when to stop. You don’t wanna get lose interest in this superb game after all. Like I said, I did this so you don’t have to.

Hope I helped the community with this information in one way or another.

But just remember…Vegas loves you and wants you back.

I have better RNG odds at Vegas then I do in any MMO -.-

Of course, because the possibility is already there. For example, you play blackjack with 1 deck or 2, 3 decks, you know exactly the possibility of getting an Ace base on what available in the deck and what had come out on the table. They can’t change the possibility while ANet can change the possibility any time they want in the background and we as a players will never detect it until it is too late.

IMO, just boycott the RNG.

Dusk No.1 – 12 December 2012 – I spent on him about 50 gold and on the second char still had about 40 rare greatsword. Profit: 550 gold

Dusk No.2 – 29 January 2013 – I spent on him 1560 Ascalonian Tear’s on exotic greatswords and that was all. Profit: 700 gold

Dusk No.3 – 30 January 2013 – I spent on him about 200 gold. Profit: Precursor for my Twilight

Ouch, looks like they’ve reduced the chances of getting a precursor even more then. Used to be that 500g+ on rares would pretty much assure you of one.

Anet. Please fix precursors. There is no reason for anything to cost 500G on the trade post.

What was intended as a small step on the road to a Legendary has become the whole journey. Compared with getting a Precursor, all the other stuff you need to craft one is insignificant.

RNG is a terrible way to hand out the best rewards in the game, please reconsider this as a strategy.

I think they fix the RNG for mystic clover too. Yesterday, I got 0 mystic clover out of 5 tries on 10 mystic clover recipe. I used to get at least 10 clovers out of 5 tries, now that luck is gone down the toilet too. sigh

IMO, transferring to different server in GW2 is very generous and not expensive.
1. You can convert gold to gem (you don’t have to spend real money for it as in any other games)
2. It transfers the WHOLE account not single character as any other games (taking WoW, $20 per character x 5 characters)
3. You have guesting option while with other games you will have to start from ground zero with fresh character on new server (if not paying to transfer)

Grind Wars 2: The lack of transparency chronicles.

Remember, it has no grind! Level 80 full exotic players should be poor and it should take months and months to buy any top tier item in the game. There should be gating on the alternate methods to make sure we can’t do that too fast regardless of how much effort we put into it too.

That was in their mission statement, remember? Oh wait thats incorrect? They advertised something different? Oops.

I was going to leave yesterday, but the drop rate in Orr was increased to an acceptable level.
Now its been nerfed harder than before!

Thats FANTASTIC.

So,
1. Grinding in lower level areas takes longer because of dynamic scaling adjustment.
2. Grinding in Orr takes longer because the drops are nerfed harder than before.
3. Grinding in dungeons and fractals takes longer due to the costs and the fact they nerfed some of the paths that were nice.
4. Grinding chests from bosses and such takes as long as it always did, forever. Not surprising considering the chests always had horrible drops.

At least you don’t have to be treated this way, there are other games around.

I hope you didn’t spend time grinding out something. That must be really frustrating?

You are NOT allowing to grind in this game. I lived in Communist country for 10 years, now I can relate the similarity between GW2 and Communist’s rules.

I stay because the game is already paid. However, I will think twice, thrice when GW2 expansion coming out. Indeed, there are good games out there and there will be more good games in upcoming months (sorry no WoW)

The only thing I take issue with about this change is the fact that with the vein no longer being rich, there’s no reason to have a champion guarding it. A veteran, sure. A champion, what purpose does he serve now? The risk no longer justifies the means.

The champ is there to hand out blue item.

The patch notes seem to imply you can get more than one daily chest. But these daily chests, as are other rewards, are tied to either the fractal level you are or the fractal level your group is running, whichever is less.

Meaning that level 4 guy could only get one fractal chest, even if he ran in 10,20,30,40.

Also explains why that level 1 guy did not receive a daily chest in the example above.

I failed on 40 but completed 36 and 24. Yet only receive 1 daily (I am actually fractal 32.) I will have to pay attention closely to time, fractal level of all players in group, and see what happens on the next daily run.

I have one question as well. Until today my highest fractal lvl was 18. I did a lvl 20 daily with my guild. We finished it, I received a daily chest. An hour ago I did lvl 6 with PUG. At the end I didn’t receive any daily chest. So my question is, do you only get one daily chest from now on?

Definitly can say a no to this. I got a lvl 1-9 and a 10-19 today. No clue why you didnt get yours tho :/

Maybe we hit a bug?! But I will test this again today after work.

Sadly but you can only receive one daily chest. That what happened to me too. It is making sense since they combined all level fractals into one big pool. If we can still receive daily in 10, 20, 30, 40, etc. then level 4 fractal can at least receive 4 daily rewards if completed all of those daily.

because daily chest starts @ even number (2,4,6,8,etc.) Player will receive daily chest if he completed any even number fractal in the past. He didn’t reach level 2 yet.

I had enough karma to buy 3 sets of exotics from Karma vendors in Orr by the time I even started caring about getting exotic armor. I ran around in rares for a long time, and it didn’t affect my effectiveness at all in dungeons, WvW, or Fractals.

Was you the one that downed 80% of the time in fractal and people had to spend ton of time to rez you? I’m just kidding.

No grind is not true.
For a casual player plays 1-2 hours a day (real life, work, family takes all other hours,) does not buy gems to convert to gold. For legendary, how long does it take for him/her to get 77 mystic clover ALONE?

In order for you to get it in a reasonable amount of time, you will have to grind/spend a lot of hours doing the same thing over and over again to get it. That’s grind.

And do not say Legendary weapons WILL have the same stats as Exotic. Legendary will have different stats soon, as Ascended gears is a step up. So grinding to have better stat gears is actually existed in this game, not just for the look. (Ascended is an example)

And yes, it’s your choice of choosing to grind or not. But there is grinding in this game.

When I read what Mike said before I purchased this game, I had similar thought. I thought this game is a “true” sandbox game with horizontal progression, gears doesn’t matter regardless of you have white/blue/green/yellow/orange type. Nope, this game is moving toward vertical progression and gears does matter.

Shall I punch myself in the kidney? Hell NO. It is just a game. It may not live up to what it said/promised in its manifesto. However, it is well worth $60 for the time that I have spent in the game.

Just because someone has a character that is low level fractal doesn’t necessarily mean they are inexperienced or have no AR. If you have a character level 20 fractal, no reason your lvl 1 fractal alt couldn’t already have AR from extra rings.

IMO, it is a good change. I like the fact that I can help a guildy with their lvl 10 daily and bring my lvl 3 alt to move him up a level.

Did you read the whole post?
Did we immediately boot that poor lvl 5 out of fotm?
Did you see the first sentence I said about alt at high level fractal to get AR rings? And if you have high level fractal alt then you are experience in some way.

Have you seen people get up to level 30 fractal yet still playing VERY bad in some instances? (not knowing the mechanics as in Gnawl, Cliffside)

If you don’t have alt at high level fractal to get your guardian AR rings. You will die at one shot Agony at level 20+. Also, pug people WILL kick you out of the level 20+ fractal for one main reason = you are so new to the fractal, you will screw the whole team up, you will waste people time trying to rez you.
Unless, you run in guild.
I still don’t see WHY ANet let level 2 fractal to be able to run with level 20, 30+

I tested last night at level 40. Everyone was at least level 32 fractal except one at level 5 fractal. We were STRUGGLED with the new Agony mechanic even with 25-30AR. The poor guy (lvl 5) was instant dead every time agony hit. We had no choice but booted the level 5 out of the instant.

BAD MOVE ANet. I guess you guys never test anything and only thing you guys are good at = NERF.

“You will be playing the game the way that you want to play” Even in one sentence among all the promises that ANet claimed in their manifesto, ANet couldn’t fulfill it. Every way that players wanted to play had been blocked and players forced to go one way, aka ANet way or highway to another game.

TBH, this game is free right now. I already paid $60 for it so I stay and play. It was well worth the time I spent on this game for $60. However, if ANet releases an expansion, with all the kitten issues as this time, they would not receive a dime from me.

So is this a good skill versus the Grawl fractal boss? I’m having trouble with him at scale 30. When the Lava Elementals come out, are they using projectile attacks?

Yes, Lava elementals use projectile attacks. The attacks can be blocked by guardian’s spirit shield, santuary, WoR, thief’s smoke screen, mesmer’s feedback.

A picture is worth a thousand words. We can scream all year long and ANet will not listen to it until they detect less and less money flowing into their pockets.

IMO, besides of expressing our pain up here, we simply just stop using real money to gamble in any type of boxes in TP. ANet will turn and address the issue once the cash flow is no longer there.

I learned my lesson well at Halloween event for weapon skin RNG and never again, I would repeat the same mistake. This event, ANet changed and you can get the weapon skins that you wanted w/o going through RNG. I am happy that I could purchase the skins that I want. Other than that, ANet will not see another dime into RNG “luck” boxes.

Just wait for the patch in February.
Since they mentioned they are focusing in character progress through wvw its almost certain every achievement is going to be changed cause all of them are overtuned now.

To be honest, I really have a lot of hopes for the patch in February. If ANet won’t deliver what they promised, I am afraid the WvW population is going to die within couple weeks after February patch released. crossing my fingers, thumbs, and toes

I can understand OP points and feel your pain. When I bought GW2, I had similar expectation as OP. I was misled by ANet manifesto was gears/level doesn’t matter, it’s all up to your skills, horizontal progression, blah..blah… blah (gears/levels doesn’t matter only occurs in sPvP/tPvP and not in any other areas.) Apparently, it is not like that. Gears/levels different does matter and then skills coming in later.

Stealth this… portal that, so much qq and class envy amongst all the classes, i hope the developers pay no attention to all the tears from people who cant handle pvp and have learn to play issues.

Every class as good points and weakness’s… the main difference between players is not “class balance issues” its skill level imbalance. If people are not 80 with junk gear and expecting to win then they are noobs. If you are 80 and still lose 6 vs 2… then you should spvp alot more to improve your individual skill level let alone teams…

If 6 lose to 2, then your teamwork is terrible compared to the two working together.

So tired of all the whine, when compared to other games, the class balance in gw2 is very good… Stealth isnt what it was in beta (i can imagine the rage if it was lol) its been nerfed, can no longer stop caps… if you can’t lock down a thief and kill it before it stealths and runs away then thats your problem.

If your getting one shot by a thief then maybe you should change your gear, or learn to evade… glasscannon thiefs are so easy and one trick ponies, they miss their burst and get locked down = dead thief. One Aoe ability from a greatsword guardian can down a glasscannon thief… so one move from one guy… yet six cant beat two….

I play every class and have 5 80’s… with 40,000 + kills, some classes im fairly good on, other classes I suck at, because im less experienced on them or just dont get them like the classes I prefer. Just because i suck at some classes, doesnt mean the class in general sucks, and others are overpowered… because ive seen good players play on the classes im newb at and there is no difference between them and my prefered classes.

So many easymoders QQing because they struggle to learn and adapt… feel sorry for next generation of gamers.

You seems to try to look smart but let me tell you that you dont, every friend I had and left had lvl 80 and exotic set, so everybody will need to make a char just to stop someone to kill you in 4 seconds, thats just kitten sorry but it is. This have nothing to do with skills or how to play, you shouldnt make a char just to counter a dominant class in game, otherwise lets delete all other classes as they are useless to counter theifs. I have faced all other classes in this game and even if I consider guardian a bit op you can play against them, there is more chance that a guardian can kill you but still you had a good fight . You seems not understanding the problem (or dont want to because you are happy to instantkill), a thief get you invi and with a combo you are down in 2-3 seconds, unles you have a gamer mouse and nerves of steel to invi you inmmediately after you feel a hit of a hidden char then you have no chance to survive, is fun for you I know but not fun for who die on this way. I think this is the last time I am going to reply, hope arenanet read this problem as this is one of the big reasons of players leaving the game.

IMO, I don’t think the big reasons for players to leave this game = thief. Yes, there were players who left the game for that reason but it is only a small percentage. There are more people leaving the game or were already left because the game has not much rewards at end game (PvE and heavily impact in WvWvW,) brainless and mind numb grinding (legendary, and recently ascended gears.) People like me and most of GW’s fan do not like gears/vertical progression, however, the game is moving toward that gears/vertical progression. One reason I picked GW2 instead of Tera after quit WoW because I thought GW2 will be horizontal progression, sandbox game. This game is not really a true sandbox game because you can’t just turn 1 skill down to move another skill up and turn yourself from warrior into stealth assassin.

I think a lot of people are missing the point. I don’t care if the thief designer babysits NCSofts children every Friday night. I don’t care if Svarty got pwnd by a D/D Ele and tried to derail the thread that way.

Thief is broken. Stealth has no counter. And the whole problem is exacerbated by culling. People are tired of playing this game because it’s turning in Thiefwars2. I believe that was the OP’s point and I have yet to see a mildly intelligent or even slightly coherent rebuttal in this thread.

What? I had rogue with legendary daggers in WoW and you told me that rogue couldn’t go invis for days? I quit WoW before Panda was out, did they change the stealth in WoW so that rogue can no longer have permanent stealth? You can’t break stealth if you can’t see where the rogue is. Good rogue will camp near you enough and not let you detect him. With Vanish/Cloak of Shadow, you will remove all dot and go back into permanent stealth. If you go with Combat/Assassin route then yeah bad luck for you, you can’t remove dot and have to wait till dot out to re-stealth w/o being revealed, but that’s your choice. That was why most heavy pvp rogue was subtle trait.

The most QQ forum in WoW was also in Rogue and Mage.

We’re talking about a Rogue in COMBAT. Staying permanently stealth is like afking in town, you’re not doing anything yet. High up time invis IN combat vs Permenent invis not doing anything yet. I’m sorry but it’s two entirely different things, one is choosing the time to attack, the other is abusing bad mechanics.

I think a lot of people are missing the point. I don’t care if the thief designer babysits NCSofts children every Friday night. I don’t care if Svarty got pwnd by a D/D Ele and tried to derail the thread that way.

Thief is broken. Stealth has no counter. And the whole problem is exacerbated by culling. People are tired of playing this game because it’s turning in Thiefwars2. I believe that was the OP’s point and I have yet to see a mildly intelligent or even slightly coherent rebuttal in this thread.

If they just allowed the sPvP characters to play in Wv3 this would be a non issue. No more gear disparity.

That was what I expected when I pre-purchased this game and all other gears/weapons are just skin as League of Legends. But I don’t think the game is heading in that direction.

I really don’t know what to say here but 6 of you and could not even force the 2 thieves to run away? First, were 6 of you all 80’s? and fully exotic? if not, that was the first problem. You need to max out traits and max out gears. This game is not all skills base, horizontal progression as ANet claimed on their manifesto. Gears and levels DOES matter in this game.

If your group were all deck out in level and gears yet still could not do anything to 2 thieves then the whole group needs to review the group playing style.

I took a few statistic classes and I quit playing lottery. I don’t spend real money on RNG in any games. I will try a couple times using my extra game currency just for the fun of it.

On another hand, I would pay to get the exact item that I want, just as I spent a good amount of money for skins in League of Legends (and still playing now)

Here’s how I do it:

1) Approach present, hit F, get blown back
2) Run in, collect present(s)
3) Dodge roll
4) Dodge roll
5) Run away

Thats what I do lol but defeats the purpose of the mobs, hence the gifts being a fail really. There just isn’t any reason for the mobs to be insanely overpowered, I actually believe Anet can’t balance new mobs into the game properly, look at the Lost Shores Karka event with the mobs there being overpowered too.

That’s a major hint for vertical gears progression! However, most players didn’t see it.

ANet would make more money and having less complains if they introduce another currency besides Gem and Gold.

Gem and Gold can be traded as they are right now. Introducing Diamond currency which can be purchased by real money only (unable to trade by Gem or Gold) then selling rare, unique item skins (legendary precursor, unbreakable bell, rare endless tonic, rare weapons/armors skins)

People who loves gambling can still trade Gem from Gold to play.

People like me that do not like RNG can purchase directly from TP using cash for Diamond to obtain the items.

Introducing Diamond currency will get money directly to ANet and not through 3rd party gold seller (buy gold in black market, convert to gems) which will not benefit ANet.

You would get so many people crying “P2W!!!” if they put in a currency that you can just buy everything with, since many people consider “winning” getting all the cool looking stuff. You can already do that right now too, by using real money to buy gems and selling those gems for gold, and using that gold to buy your legendary ingredients (or legendary itself), your wintersday gifts to open to get the bell, your ToT bags to get endless halloween tonic, etc. Granted it would probably cost you thousands of dollars to get this stuff, but the option is there.

The option is still there for people to trade gold for gem to obtain it. Plus P2W will not be there because the same items are on TP under different currency. P2W only occur if that items only available through direct cash and not through any other method. If you consider P2W in that aspect than this current market is also P2W.

With the new “direct pay” currency, it will be easier for ANet to control the market and not let farmers manipulate the market as it is now. For example: ANet can put $30 equivalent to purchase a legendary precursor, the market will auto drop the gold price on the item (controlling inflation)

With the current market, there will be a lot of people will purchase gold in black market (this will hurt ANet financial) and turn around convert it into gem (will this be P2W too? no it is not because you can farm for it if you like) or if someone is afraid of being banned, they can purchase gem directly from ANet and convert to gold to purchase items (will this be P2W too?)

It’s only P2W if you can obtain that item through 1 method of trading (real money) and not in any other method.

You should be able to get cogs from events that you haven’t done.
Base on my observation (I maybe wrong), each of the event has its field in Special Event completion achievement. Once you completed the event, achievement filled, you will not get the rewards if trying on 2nd, 3rd, so on. So if you haven’t done event, the achievement still not trigger and you should receive awards for it when all events are repeatable in LA.

I have to disagree, With power as the main stat on Power/tough/vit, you get incredibly high power. It works VERY well with a sword/dagger build. I throw in emerald orbs and emerald jewelry (toughness/power/precision) and I now have 59% crit chance as well as an obscenely high power and still come out with over 3100 armor and 17k hp with food. I have no problem at all taking out any build from any class 1v1 and typically do just fine 1v2.

I still can’t see how could you get up to 59% crit chance with all of those power/tough/vit gears? with power/tough/vit gears, Power/Precision/Tough jewelry provided you 59% crit chance, 3100 armor and 17k hp. Please provide screenshot.

Tired of Fighting the Same Servers?

Revamp WvWvW:
With the current ranking and setup, almost the same 3 servers will see each other on the same map (duplicate 3 times) plus EB every week and it is getting old really fast.
A lot of complaints about 2 vs 1, not much of rewards for T1 servers, boring duplicated maps, low population for lower tier, etc.

Few ideas that will work well with each other:
1. revamp the map to 1 giant new map. (with 1 vs 1, it should be less burden on servers)

2. consolidate/merge servers.

3. There will be WvW (head to head competition, not WvWvW.) The rule is simple like any live tournament. First week, all servers put into RNG and randomly draw (example: blue fights blue, red fights red, magenta fights magenta.) Second weeks, all won servers put into RNG for random pick and same goes with all lost servers. Third weeks, we should have 4 tiers at this time, RNG and continue. This will continue until the last two top servers settled for 1st and 2nd place of the season. After that, All server put back into RNG and starting weeks 1 again. With this system, every server will have a chance to face different server instead of seeing the same old server for at least 3, 4 weeks in the row or maybe forever.

The rewards for 1st and 2nd place can be buffs: 1st place = +30% chance of receive badge of honor, +50% more gold. 2nd place = +15% chance of receiving badge of honor, +30% more gold or something interesting enough to motivate every servers to try harder. These buff will last for a week and only apply while they are in WvW. With good rewards, every servers will push harder to get it. Therefore, it is promoting WvW to a different level.
(These only works well with 2 servers against each other for the fairness)

4. More gears/weapons skin in WvW vendors as rewards of trading badge of honor.

Why Stealth?

It isn’t even about whether they are counterable. It’s just not a fun mechanic to play against, even if you know their skills up and down and regularly defeat stealth characters.

Past MMO’s and GW2 figured out that long CC is not fun for players, because no one likes not having control of their character for long portions of a fight. As such GW2 doesn’t have CC remotely as punishing as some other games. Unfortunately fighting half a battle against something you can’t see is equally as frustrating as long CC and not very fun. Gee, I’ll swing at the air over here until this guy pops up visible again…

So you would prefer permanent thief keeps on CC you while he is in stealth?

Any stealth class in any MMO is the most annoying class to deal with because the human nature is afraid of what we can’t see!

I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. However, I would dream to have WoW invis in GW2.

Vanish will enter permanent stealth when in combat. Also, Vanish/cloak of shadow put thief out of combat immediately so he can run at normal stealth speed.

Not really, if you trait correctly, you run like a rabbit while in stealth!!

- Can be detected by skills or being too close/in front of people.

Yes, you only have “a sense” when thief being too close/infront of you. However, by the time you “detected” the thief presence, his daggers already sank in your back.

- Can be used in combat only once with a 2 min cooldown.

Not really, with trait, you can use it twice with shorter cooldown.

- No Culling

This is Server issue.

- Average mobility

WoW has mounts. It is hard to measure any class mobility. If WoW removes mounts. Thieves will be king.

  • GW2 Stealth
    – Temporary stealth, except if using combo.
    Agree
    – No movement speed penalty, can trait for +33% movement speed

Only partial time, not permanent of +33% moment speed. permanent +25% speed, yes.
No speed boost while in combat. Stealth doesn’t put thief out of combat, unless thief wastes a trait for moving faster while in stealth.

That’s true, but in WoW stealth would break on damage and when performing nearly any action (attacking, looting, etc), and you had to be out of combat to “turn it on” (aside from one get-away ability). You even have a chance in WoW to detect a stealthed enemy if you’re close enough and facing them.

In GW2 you can literally turn on stealth with combat attacks, never be seen while stealthed, and with the right build can keep it up nearly permanently while in combat.

I would much rather have WoW’s version than GW2’s version. Limited stealth my eye.

I can’t wait for the day that stealth in GW2 = WoW’s stealth version. If your wish comes true, that would be heaven on WvW for thieves! Imagine a group of stealth thieves trolling from place to place undetected (thieves will not have to sacrifice ton of traits/utilities to have permanent stealth) and when thieves appear in front of your eyes, you’re dead. I for sure will camp 24/7 at the BL entrance or at any critical choke points along with other thieves, waiting to send people back to the way point!

The stealth mechanic for thief in GW2 is so weak, in order to get longer stealth, thief has to sacrifice a lot to achieve it.

To activate dagger #5, thief has to be in melee range of the target to do it. Keep distance and don’t fight among weak npc because thief will use those weak npc to stealth. Also, pay attention to the ground, you will see kinda like shadow blink on the ground when thief is about to come out of stealth or re-stealth while in stealth using d/p. With that you can predict the direction of the thief and AOE at that spot or dodge away from it.

I don’t see why wouldn’t ANet sell gears on TP? If players want to pay for the items/gears they have a choice. If players want to grind for items/gears, they also have a choice.

To me, I would rather pay for items/gears and spend my time on the area that I like (aka PvP)

ANet would make money for selling gears on TP. It’s a win-win situation. Everyone will be happy, grind or not.

How to recover from Thief stealth

Stealth in this game doesn’t make the profession invulnerable to damages as in other games. I am playing S/D thief. Countless times, I spammed AOE around the stealth spot by spamming #1 sword skill. Few seconds later I found my fellow enemy thief on the ground, gasping for air.
