nope, that works fine for me. i just went in, played one game, and walked around for about 5 seconds afterward, in heart of the mists, and it crashed again, showing the white window. and i just did ANOTHER repair to the game files. nothing works.

added info, but not much help. was hoping to find out if a person can be sent a hotfix of some kind after multiple crash reports sent. i cant play the game anymore without something to fix this.

ever since i upgraded on that tuesday about 2-3 weeks ago my game has been crashing constantly, back to back, or sometimes after a bit of gameplay. the crash is usually during a transition from one screen to another. sometimes it randomly pops up the white box to ask me to send information about the crash to anet. other times its the normal Windows crash box that says guild wars has stopped working. at some points after the transition to another screen, ill notice templates havent loaded. i will see a rainbow colored hat, legs, face, etc. i cant play competitively now because of this (i usually enter tournaments and my teams im recently a part of are going to need to replace me).

there is nothing wrong with my computer. i have no issues with any other game or program. ive never had crash issues with this game, since i installed it over 2 years ago now. i have tried (twice) the repair files thing. i have no idea what i can do but ask for a specific to me hotfix, though i have no idea what is needed.

well, i remember one point before the big pvp reward path change having over 400 chests sitting in my inventory, and all of them being erased after the patch hit. i complained to anet and only got a response about looking into possible compensation… which never happened. they still owe me 400 reward chests.

Ever since i updated this past tuesday, i’ve experienced crashes every single time i attempt to play. it isn’t always before getting into the game, though i have had the white box appear saying a critical error has occurred and mentioning something about not able to write to memory. there are times i get past this and, if i allow my character select screen to fully load, it crashes again. to get around this, i have been immediately clicking my chosen character before even seeing his model appear. there are times that i get past this point and while loading into heart of the mists it gives me crash window asking me to close the program or wait for it to respond. there are times i get past even this, and load into heart of the mists and then have either of the aforementioned windows appear and crash my game. there are yet still times i get past that and am able to play for a while, only to have it crash at that point.

allow me to state now that i have literally never, ever crashed before, that i can remember. only crashes that have occurred prior to 09 JUN 2015 were related to other computer issues (such as the video driver crashing). again, that i can remember— which really should say something about what is causing the crashes.

i have repaired my install twice now.
i have restarted my computer multiple times.
i have checked for updates to my computer and hardware.
i have sent the crash reports a few times through the GW2 crash report window.

EDIT: things one may want to know – laptop with: windows 7 pro, dual 580m in SLI, 3 hard drives of which one holds games and is not fragmented and is clean of any issues, 24 gigs ram, i7 970 processor.

ive had this happen bro, but i ended up noticing that the chests are automatically added to your inventory if you dont open them in time. it was really hard for me to notice it because i literally have 800 chests in stacks in my inventory (one day ill open them all). i noticed it only because they were highlighted as new. perhaps check there?

Hey grouch, let me start by saying I think turret engis are an absolute plague to PvP, as it requires no skill to be able to 2v1, and only some skill to 3v1.

Having said that, these are good ideas as a start. I agree that turrets should be able to be critically hit. things don’t need to be alive in order to have weak points that cause more damage (IE star wars death star). Conditions don’t make sense, though. Burning would make sense, and maybe vulnerability, but I can’t honestly think of how other stuff could pass. Unless there are already inanimate objects in game that are affected by conditions, I would steer wide away from this.

As others have suggested, there are a few other things I would apply in the stead of the conditions, or as well as:
1. Turrets in air? Just switch turrets to using ground targeting. For some reason, this is actually a trait a person can take… but no one ever will because it’s literally a nerf to how they work without it. Make the ground target work just like crate drop.

2. Make the turrets less damaging by slowing the attack cycle time. Only need to be slowed by 1 or 2 seconds, but with the crits and ground targeting, they are much less viable for a 3v1 or 2v1 with this added change.

using d/p number 3 causes shadowshot to ricochet off of intended target. it also gives it a (great idea of) 1200 range instead of the (terrible idea of) 1050.

the only way around this is a new functionality created for this sort of thing. if a server-wide attack happens and causes all this sort of mayhem, it would be nice for the devs to actually allow support to assist. but as of now, its as the above comment said. they dont have the resources or system access to clear the debuff.

ill post whatever it is they answer with, if they ever answer it. i can see how youre reading that, but since they dont have a line there that says “because we dont have the resources to do so” im hoping it means “because we dont know of any reason that we should do it.”

i doubt their final answer is going to be “yeah, our servers were attacked, and yes, you were dropped because of this. but no, we cant remove the debuff because its obviously your fault.” i mean, they could say that, but they have control over these things. i dont think theyll ever include an asterisk in their explanations stating “unless our servers are attacked and its completely out of everyones hands” but in the spirit of community service, no?

same here. i was dropped maybe 4 or 5 times now and that trait popped up. almost 3 days of no pvp allowed. the server gets attacked or whatever and we get these debuffs. need this removed, also! put in a ticket for it on toon Raif Twelve Kill.

Necromancer changes have most certainly not addressed the raw dps they do. descrease the damage fear does when feared by at least 50% and dont do PvP ONLY removals… they make no sense as PvP is widely regarded as the least fun thing to do and the lack of armor stats and buildability in PvP is harsh as it is. Just remove the bleed stack from both, its not going to nerf necro to unplayability. the class is way too powerful as it is. 70k hp, massive burst, insanely powerful downed state. i see barely any changes to its dps as you have stated it. most of those things are buffs, actually.

man… the changes to initiative regen is not a huge enough bonus to all builds for these kinds of changes to happen, but if you feel the only way to address “perma-stealth” is by doing this, then lets see how it works.
the issue though is that most builds involving a dagger offhand will become the only viable builds if using stealth at all as a main concept; pistol offhand shadowshot misses way too often and the daze from headshot can be useful, but not useful enough for 4 initiative (with these changes) as finding the proper opportunity is difficult with the speed of the animations and the fact that healing animations are no different than others (which would usually be the best time to use this skill).

Revisit Initiative Cost of Skills:
All numbers 3-5 skills should be dropped by 1 initiative. the immediate cost of skills is not the issue as far as i hear you saying, but this would at least allow for a thief to not HAVE to use initiative regen skills and would also help avoid HS spamming while keeping the perma-stealth thing pretty much broken.
BP and CaD should at the absolute least see an initiative drop to offset the regen especially with all the blocks and aegis boons that come up so often, not to mention of course evasion. if CaD misses once, you are already in a bad position in melee range (if you can even get to melee range), miss again… you’re forced to completely back out or stealth up since at 6 initiative, you’ve got almost nothing you can do at that point except use utility skills and hope you don’t get trampled.

Never Spotlighted Changes:
there are some issues thieves have otherwise that should be addressed with this patch. everyone spotlights the same stuff with thief (damage, perma-stealth), but i really hope you consider the above thoughts and also the below ideas:

Change Improvisation Skill:
It’s basically useless still. Perhaps rework this skill to assist with your intended changes by having it instead do something like this: “At below 25% HP, all utility skills recharge. This can only occur once every 90 seconds.”

Change Healing Skills:
these changes are to address signet of malice not ever really finding a reason for use while also giving a thief a reason to choose one of the recharge 20% skills in their builds.
1. Heal skill Hide in Shadows be considered a Deception skill.
2. Heal skill Withdraw be considered a Trick skill.
3. Heal skill Signet of Malice be given a 1/2 second cast time and cure torment. this would still be considered a Signet skill.

If it can hurt you, why can’t you rally from it?! If the classes with pets/minions (possibly even clones) can just spawn something and walk away laughing while that “inanimate” object (apparently) ATTACKS you and kills you/prevents you from healing/can still see you while under stealth/invis, why can’t we rally from killing the thing? We all know some of these things can take some SERIOUS punishment before dying. Some of them can instantly res their master, heal them so fast and so well that no one can stomp in time, take half the damage for their master, just absolutely get in the way of your LoS (line of sight) to their master… this is an enormous oversight.

yeah, i noticed that too. i bug reported it. people who have done it already get to do it a 2nd time! crazy… i was off by 1 (3/4 done). this is hopefully fixed soon.

I’ve been told both yes and no. Some say yes or you don’t get the commendations, others say yes-ish only because it helps that guild gain influence/merit, yet others say no you don’t have to represent them as long as you are invited and accepted into guild, and I’ve even been told you don’t have to at all and as long as you help with the mission you will gain the commendation. So what is the right answer?

lol. they’re just using the build sites to see the numbers i would have to assume. and condition damage is over time, so an immediate drop is worth the trade if you’re building for it. plus, you gain tank and better crit damage % (although the raw damage is less, its still a higher percent, which shouldn’t happen. otherwise, why would the jewelry lower the crit damage? why would the 2 handed weapons lower the crit damage? balance, right? celestial shouldn’t be any different).

people in game who have rolled full celestial gear are telling me they think the stats should be lowered also, and the crit damage should be balanced with the rest of the jewelry and weapon sets. the increase to condition damage alone can make up for the change in power.

100% crit change out of stealth says different, coming from a thief. i dont need precision. other classes use fury and dont really need very much precision outside of jewelry. this stuff needs to change. role a build with everything celestial and see what it does.

how is it that jewelry gets crit damage lowered by a few percent and normal two-handed weapons get 9% crit damage, but these new items get a ridiculous amount of stat boost (really, they should all be lowered by 20 points), but they also get HIGHER crit damage?!?! please rebalance these items. they’re ridiculous how they are.

at the very least, have all two-handed weapons have 10% crit damage and lower the new items to 6% for two-handed and 3% for one-handed.

Changes for Thief Skills from a Thief

A few things I would like to note:
1. No one really uses the 3rd healing skill because it cures no conditions and has a long casting time. Also, it heals the least while giving a petty amount of regen per hit.
2. Improvisation Trait in the Power line is useless the way it is. Random and includes what you don’t use? +10% damage if carrying a what O_o

What I’d like to see happen:
1. Heal skill Hide in Shadows be considered a Deception skill.
2. Heal skill Withdraw be given a 3/4 second cast time while in evasion instead of a zero cast time. This could also be considered a Trick skill.
3. Heal skill Signet of Malice be given a zero cast time (like the other Thief signets) and still be considered a Signet skill.
4. Improvisation go by whatever you have equipped, so that if you have 1 of each type, it will roll one of those randomly, or if you have only a single type, it will roll that one type. This should also NOT include the Elite skills. +10% damage while your 6-9 skills (again, not Elite) include at least 2 different types of skills.

Edit 1:
Also, as I just remembered, most classes seem to have a way to jump higher or farther and use this skill (weapon skill or trait or what have you) to clear gaps. These classes also seem to get shadowstep and stealth. Aside from the fact that this takes away from the uniqueness of Thief skills, I don’t see why thieves shadowstep can’t ignore gaps/elevation also— ESPECIALLY the skill Shadowstep/Shadow Return (1200 range one). Even the shortbow’s weapon skill that shadowsteps. At least that will even the ground as far as jumping higher/farther is concerned.
