Hi all,
I too, was turned off my HOT, because of how it was released and unfinished. I refuse to reward poor workmanship. To pay for a product that was not finished at release only invites further deficiencies. I am playing Guildwars2 less because everything new is attached to HOT and I will not purchase HOT. I enjoyed the original GW2 and the updates that were produced in the first two years. After the first two years things got progressively worse for the game, because the work shifted to producing HOT.
Hi all,
Here are my favorite characters and their armor, all are level 80:
The first is my Guardian
Second, is my Warrior
Third is my Necromancer
Fourth is my Elementalist
And last is my Thief
Hi all,
I am not afraid of HOT, but I have not and will not purchase it for any price. It was poorly designed from the start and what was advertized was not completely delivered. Remember the outrage in the GW2 community over the way Arenanet handled the release of HOT. I will not reward with my hard earned money poor work and missing promises. To do so, only invites further poor work and empty promises. A friend of mine purchased HOT about three months after its release, and since purchasing it, he has stopped playing GW2 completely. Why, because he feels he was mislead by Arenanet regarding HOT’s promises. And now, as I understand it, Arenanet plans to tie all future expansions to HOT. That to me shows that HOT can’t stand on its own, but must be tied to further expansions in order to get others to purchase it. I continue to enjoy the core game, with its PVE, WvW and Silverwastes, but HOT will not be a part of my game play no matter how many future expansion are tied to it. As I said, I will not reward poor design and failed promises. Thanks for reading, and remember, my opinion is just as valid as the opinion of others.
+++++ for under water combat. Some of my characters seem squishy under water and could use more fighting options, like new weapons and weapon skills. We have so many options on land, but too few in the water.
Eternity’s Guard made sense to me, since they are a permanent group of Tyria’s heros.
Hi all,
This is confusing. I have defeated all five of the champions and some I have defeated multiple times. I have 3 of the four achievements completed. But I have 0 of 3 credits in the bounty hunter achievement. Not sure what I am suppose to do to get credit for the bounty hunter achievement. Can any one explain clearly how it is done?
To get Daily Requirements, you have to go to different maps. And some times gathering lumber, foliage, and mining materials can take time to find. And to find them they are often in maps that I have already completed so when gathering them I am not completing the map I would like to complete. And the same goes for a boss event, they are often in maps I have already completed, same for jumping puzzles or map events. So if I do the Daily Requirements, more often than not, they are not in the map that I would like to complete. And that is a poor design for doing Daily Requirements. One should be able to do Daily Requirements on any map that one is working to complete.
To me, the Daily Events are all wrong. I have maps that need to be completed, so the Daily events should allow you to complete them in any map. That way, while you are completing a map you are getting credit for Daily Events as well. The Daily Events use to be like that, but no longer. I do not have a lot of time to play GuildWars2, so if I want to get my Daily events it sometimes can take a few hours, but then I do not have time to work on competing maps. Or, if I work to complete a map, where there are no Daily events, then I do not have time to get my Daily Events. This is a very poor design by Arena Net.
Please go back to how Daily Events were done originally.
Will you pre-order the next expansion? [Poll]

I pre-ordered Guildwars2 and played the beta when it came out. It lived up to all of my expectations, was fun to play and had great rewards. Then as time went by the game changed from its original design. There were less meaningful rewards and less usable materials.
Because of the nerfing of almost everything, and the poor way the HOT expansion was handled at release, I knew it would be a waste of my money. And as the game continues to develop away from its original design and from what it was promised to be, I cannot see myself ever pre-purchasing any expansion from Anet.
I thought I might purchase HOT at a later time, but as I have seen the developers failing to developed what was promised, I have decided it isn’t worth purchasing.
Therefore, there will be no pre-purchasing for me.
Why? Never liked the looks of them and never had the time to gather everything to make one, plus I am not wealthy enough to make one.
My limit is ascended weapons and gear, which I make after I have earned $150.00 gold and gathered the needed materials. I can usually make a weapon or a piece of armor every six months. Plus I now know what to keep in my inventory and what is useless.
Hi all,
For Snowden Drifts, I stay near Jotun’s Vista where there are two Escorts going in opposites directions. Sometimes, I can finish one and run back and catch the Escort going the other way. Then I wait about ten minutes and the other one starts again.
As was stated earlier, just camp out in an area where events take place rather than jumping all over the map.
Saria Bloodshed, I will give that name a 7/8. Are you using a sword or dagger for shedding blood?
My male Sylvari Necromancer’s name is, Count Dispatch. It means to respectfully dispose of a threat rapidly and effectively, which I do with the help of my minions. However, if there are more than two enemies than I respectfully run.
I got three armor pieces in drops while playing in Edge of the Mists, which I used on my Guardian. I also got 6 ascended trinkets, but I do not think ascended armor or trinkets drop anymore. I also crafted two other armor sets for two of my characters.
I have never been in a dungeon and I currently have, 1500 and working to get 1000 more. I have been getting mine playing The Mist, and Silverwastes. I can get around a hundred in an hour or two. If you go on a chest run in Silverwaste you can get 150 to 200 Empyreal’s in a short time.
You can obtain gold by completing world maps. For the first time I just completed the world map and in one week I earned 54 gold. One of the exotic weapons for completing one of the maps, had a rune worth 12 gold. Another map after completion gave me two exotics worth 3 gold. The rest of the gold came from selling materials.
Thank you Arenanet, as a veteran I appreciate the gesture. But the controversy that occurred should have never happened. Perhaps in time I may come back but for now, the damage has been done and I am gone. It is a matter of trust, you will have to re-earn my trust. So I will wait to see what happens in the future.
This is good to remember. People that say they know the majority of players are angry/quitting the game/not ever going to buy HoT are simply exaggerating.
Exaggerate no more. I am gone from GW2 and may very well not return. Arenanet has done a real disservice to this long standing player who was part of this franchise going way back to GW1.
Out of here,

I keep reading from a few people in this post that GW2 is free because we do not pay a subscription fee and we continually receive free content upgrades. Therefore we should be glad to purchase an Expansion to the game to keep Arenanet in business.
Have these people, who say the game is free played the game? Do they earn 1000s in gold, because that is the only way this game could be called free. The average player buys gems with real money because gems are not free. Arenanet earns money every day because of gem purchases and I have bought more than my share. So, GW2 is not free.
I have no problem purchasing an Expansion for $50 dollars if the Expansion was like GW1. But to repurchase what I already own, by purchasing an Expansion is too much.
I know Arenanet keeps saying the core game is free and we are only purchasing the Expansion, but that means that all of us, veteran players are getting less than first time players. They are purchasing the Expansion which includes the core game. When us veteran players first paid for the game we purchased it for $50 dollars or more, now we are to purchase the Expansion for another $50 dollars, that is $100 dollars for veterans, and $50 dollars for new players. So they get everything for $50 dollars and veterans get everything for $100. That is why people are very upset.
To me, the new daily system is a move away from the original intent of GW2. GW2 was not to be a daily grind for certain things or to be forced into certain areas of the map, but rather to be free to explore the whole world of Tyria. And in the process to experience all of Tyria through the things that one chose to do and getting rewards, crafting materials and other things while doing it. The way the daily system is now, one is forced to do certain things and forced into certain areas to receive an achievement point cap of 10 points. Achievement points should be found where ever one goes in the world of Tyria and should be awarded through whatever one is doing.
If Arenanet wants more people to explore more of the world of Tyria than give a real incentive for doing so. Such as, epic battles that one does not soon forget win or lose, with better drops or much richer rewards. In addition there needs to be new content that is added into areas that one has explored numerous times. It gets boring when nothing changes. Tyria should be a living world where new content and characters occur in familiar places, as well as new battles and bosses. It was so refreshing when Lion’s Arch became a war zone and had to be reclaimed. We need change in familiar places so that we are always surprised and challenged.
I created my female Norn as my first character after purchasing Guildwars2 and she is still my favorite character. I will soon make ascended armor for her.
On Friday evening I tried to login and received the security authorization message to check my email. Whenever I received that message and checked my email there was always an email from Arenanet. This time however, there was no message from Arenanet. I retried to login for about a half an hour and kept checking my email but no message from Arenanet. I then changed my password to see if a changed password would help get me into the game. It did not. And I continued to receive the message for authorization and to check my email. Never received any email. I then disabled the security authorization. And I will keep it disabled until I receive an email from Arenanet.
Aenanet,
Here is a suggestion which I believe can really help when playing any of the Personal Stories. Do not allow the enemy to come within striking distance from where the human character resurrects after he or she dies. In one of the Personal Story quests, every time I died and then resurrected, the enemy was right where I resurrected, and I was soon dead again. I never had a chance to fight or to think of another strategy for fighting the enemies that remained. I cannot remember the name of the Personal Story quest, but it contained a lot of flying Imps and a boss Imp that produced an idol that had to be destroy in order to kill the boss Imp. I and friend eventually won that quest, but we were both 11 levels above the quest level and died nine or more times before winning.
