But they are only good in pvp, they are quiet awful in pve especially DE (cant tag stuff cause they lack aoe)

What? My GS/Staff mesmer has 7/10 skills are AoE, 11/14 if you count shatters. And other than Chaos storm, they are all on about half the cooldown of ele AOE’s

My mesmer can solo a veteran + 2 adds 3 levels above and barely break a sweat.

I would rather have a shortbow option. high dps, few aoes, mostly single target damage, decent cc and range.

I know, I find it weird that air is supposed to be our single target damage dealer but our only skills that hit like a truck are AoE. Air needs to do a LOT more damage or make more of the skills hit more than one target.

Only thing I have to say is that dagger ice 2 (cone of cold) needs to keep its heal.

Well, you did switch from probably the easiest class to the hardest.

Toughness/vit are your friends, don’t underestimate the water/earth trees, and be prepared to die, a LOT. Also, i have found S/D my favorite for PVE. Churning Earth + Lightning flash is probably the best opener, especially vs multiple mobs. If you haven’t already, practice dodging… a LOT. when 1 hit can take you to sub 50% health it is a pretty important skill to master.

Arcane shielding at 25% health and earth armor at 50% health are probably the most important traits you can get for solo survivability.

Ele is an amazingly fun and complex class to play. Other classes seem so boring to me now, they just sit there and spam the same 2 or 3 skills and everything falls dead. As an ele if i did that to a single even level mob i would probably wind up taking a dirt nap.

I hope you don’t mind but I copied your build and tried it out last night for a few hours. it works wonders compared to my old build. I was running a 20/20/20/0/10 build. Your build has increased my survivability five fold and I have seen no noticeable drop in damage. Though I think the change to vit/tough gear helped a lot also, I think I was using the berzerker’s amulet before.

I think more than anything, this build shows just how useless 90% of our traits are. I removed nearly all of my traits from the “damage” trees (fire/air supposedly) and I am doing the same amount of damage as before, with 3x the healing power and twice the health.

Awesome vid, gives me some hope that I’m not useless in PvP, I guess I’ve really underestimated the water traits, they seems to give you 3x the survivability I have with my 20/20/20/0/10 build.

Love it so far… armor earth and arcane shield at 50% and 25% health helps a LOT with survivability. I never stay in any attunement for more than 5 seconds or so. I blow all of my cooldowns then switch to the next attuement (usually i go Air→ fire→ earth → water). Having lower cooldowns in all 3 of the damage dealing attunements increases my burst damage more than any other traits. Especially since our cooldowns are all ridiculously long (45 seconds for fire grab… really?) The 10% fire damage trait is only there because all of the other ones suck for that slot, and fire IS my main damage dealer.
