This is more a thief problem than revenant problem.
Thieves are broken, and have been for the past 4 years in WvW particularly since they aren’t forced to fight unstealthed over a point like in spvp.
I’m not entirely sure you understand my post.. I wasn’t trying to say that thief is OP rather that Anet never seems to make any effort to fix bugs that really hurt the game play of this class.. this bug even though it’s so simple to fix has been around for nearly a year now, and that is just ridiculous imo.
There is a simple philosophy that anet follows with regards to rev and bugs. If it benefits revenants fix it asap with an extra nerf added for good measure. If it hurts the rev, ignore it, simple as that.

Hey guys, I’m just curious what you all think about this bug? Personally I find it frustrating that it still hasn’t been fixed for going on almost 1 year now, I mean [Essence Sap] is strong enough without it slowing you for 4 sec’s instead of 1 sec like it’s intended too.. And don’t get me started on a thief running [Improvisation] who knows just when to use this against you, slowing you for like 8 sec’s! And being a Revenant it’s kinda hard to clear it in most cases.. IDK just kinda frustrated with the current state of Revenant and seeing how there are still bug’s like this that hurt the already hurting class even MORE… just makes me sad. Thoughts?
I don’t normally post things on the forums but this bug has been bothering me from the moment Revenant was released! On the wiki it clearly states the skill [Essence Sap] slows for 1 second only, and in game on the tool-tip it says the skill [Essence Sap] slows for 1 second. Yet when a thief steals to me and uses [Essence Sap] on me it’s a 4 second slow!! And when they trait for Improv, they can get up to 8 seconds if both [Essence Sap]‘s land! This is extremely frustrating, and honestly it shocks me that this still hasn’t been fixed for going on almost a year now, I mean it’s powerful enough as is with it’s 900 range and quick cast time that makes it hard to avoid and with great damage too! So when will this be fixed? It’s hard enough fighting a thief as a Revenant, but this bug just makes it a nightmare.
I couldn’t agree with you more, I think some condi cleanse is needed for sure. And I do feel that they went a little to far with the damage nerfs, and giving us nothing in return for compensation.
@Biklen.. I agree though Rev has been nerf’d it still has good dps. I agree Anet has made a cool and unique class. However it is not without its problems at the moment. And I am not without disappointment for this class when they dont give it as much attention as it needed this balance update. They claim to have focused on “Bug Fixing” the Revenant this patch. However they only broke things more and fixed very little of the core bugs imo. So its not so much that I personally cant see the good in this class. But I can also see alot of bad. And I have felt shame in Anet’s handling of this class lately. So instead of being patient for another 3 months, and hoping for changes. I will move onto another game for awhile.

YUP! I noticed this too.. and was wondering if it was just me.. obviously not :/ Really sucks the current state of rev is so blah.. “In this patch we focused mostly on bug fixes for rev” lol what a joke! I mean it’s literally more broken and buggy now.
That is esence sap from revenant downed skill (1s slow). The stolen skill https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Essence_Sap_
is supposed to have longer slow. Check Roy’s past post. I think it was him who posted this. Wiki is incomplete an inaccurate atm.As example of incompleteness of wiki https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Essence_Sap doesn’t even have damage at the time of this post. In game it does.
Anyway slow is a condition. Use condition removal to counter this.
try clearing condi’s as a rev.
Honestly anyone that supports this as being “perfectly balanced” is obviously a thief main. I mean hear me out, because it’s 4 secs of slow every time you steal to us, if you run improv it’s 8 secs literally every 20secs, add on top of this the fact that it hits hard roughly 4-5k and that revenant has nearly NO condi remove, but let’s say you’re running staff to remove the condi, okay it’s a 1 sec cast time to remove it, with slow on you that makes it like 3 secs of casting, literally leaving you WIDE open in this animation as a thief auto’s you to death, it’s an easy I-win button vs revs. And honestly I hope Anet fixes this obvious bug, because as of now it’s broken OP in my opinion.
