I think it’s unrealistic or very very difficult to have a perfect game. Like a game that satisfies all your playstyles. Personally, I have multiple games for all my needs. League of legends for PvP, Rift for Pve and raiding, and Skyrim for RPG. It’d be really tough for one game to balance all those things and keep all their players happy.
There’s a reason why no other game does this. Penalizing players for how they want to play is never a good idea.
Gamebreaking bugs, terrible rewards, way overtuned mobs and bosses, and unbalanced combat. Nothing new, all has been pointed out since official forums came up. Who knows how long dungeons will be playable let alone enjoyable.
I think most people know to pray and ‘ranged wars 2’ in dungeons by now.
If a game needs progression in order to be fun the game isn’t fun in the first place.
I think we got two sets of gamers, the secure gamer (Casual) and the insecure gamer (Gear hunting/Achivement nut/World first/Etc).
The casual gamer is a strong gamer, he plays the game the way it is ment. No grind for him/her since they do 1 dungeon each day or maybe even 2, mostly for the fun of it. To enjoy guildies/Family/friends and the “reward” in game is just a +.
The insecure gamer needs some form of reckognition for doing what they do, but in the end nobody cares what you do or what you wear in games, nobody. I know it must feel bad when you have grinded and played for 200-400-600 hours just to show people something, and to know that people really don’t care about it.
I think some people need some form of accomplishment from gaming, but what to do when they find out that nobody cares about what they do? I would love to get a psychologist on this.
It’s grindy inly if you make it so. It’s not suppose to take a day.
It’s suppose to be fun, progression comes in last before fun.If you play a game for progression you need to find a new genre, or quit gaming completely, because the progression in games is nothing, and nobody cares about it. So why bother?
Is this some form of sarcasm or just an outright joke? I really hoping, by now, we were past telling people how to play a game.

I’m ok with different sets of dungeon gear but a lot of the dungeons aren’t worth the hassle. Everyone will do the easiest one because it will probably be the easiest one to find a group with.
They’re pretty neat but I really only think two or three of them are necessary, the rest are just nice small dps increases or buffs. Anything that removes conditions is always good and chaos armor, gives you random buffs everytime you are hit. As a mesmer if I can get chaos armor on myself and put down a chaos storm on me I’ll get nearly every buff there is to get and I’ll take so little damage. That makes a pretty big difference but I don’t all of them making a huge difference.
Gaming should be about the journey, but a high % of gamers only care about the reward,
You realize you’re contradicting yourself.
The grinds for cosmetic rewards is perfect, farming the 30g t3 chestpiece for sylvari atm and cant wait to get it!
Gonna go out on a limb and say your grinding for the 30g t3 gear isn’t about the journey, it’s about the reward.
I’m perfectly fine with the end game stuff as it is, I don’t mind spending a month or two getting them but the state of the game right now it’s near impossible. Dungeons aren’t worth running, cost of doing stuff is too high, and the economy is broken. It’s not impossible but atm it is incredibly difficult or frustrating.

Better question, where are all the black sylvari’s at?
I’m also having trouble targeting really big mobs, like event bosses and such. Like Tequatl in Sparkfly and Kol in Harathi. The game seems really specific about where you need to click in order to target these big guys and when I’m in melee and can only see their feet it doesn’t always work.
True enough. I still simply think time will show that PvP will be what makes it last.
Not sure how long people can stand playing deathmatch on four maps and unbalanced WvW.
I don’t know about WoW but when Rift launched there was no “there is no endgame” threads. And the only threads there leaving were for GW2.
Oh there most definately were, I remember reading a few of them as I played RiFT for a while too.
But if thats what you got from the original post, then the point has been completely missed.
No, not really because a month after launched they added a world event and then a month after that they added a new 20-man raid. Endgame content, content in general, has never been Rift’s weak point.
And a thread on the forums about all the other threads on the forums you don’t like. Figured it out pretty quickly. Also, when you tell people who complain to just leave you’re basically saying they’re right about whatever it is they’re complaining about. There’s plenty of nonsensical and unnecessarily negative posts going on here but there are also plenty of legitimate issues. If you’re only rebuttal is to tell them to leave than that shows you have no reason to tell them to stay or that they are wrong.

Other than the “you play too much” argument, I love the “well, you haven’t done everything” argument. Go get 100% map completion, only one crafting skill at 400? Get another. Go play sPVP till your maxed rank. Level another character to 80. And then the arbitrary “this game isn’t for grinding” argument to close it off right after they just listed a handful of grinds. Trollboi’s will be trollboi’s.
I want to petition to change this game’s name to Ranged Wars 2.
Can’t say this is a bad idea but definitely better than the contacts method.
Whoever said the LFG tool destroyed Rift and Swotor should slap themself. Swotor failed because it was just an incomplete mediocre game. And Rift is one of the last subscription games out there and is about to launch an expansion. Cut it out with this BS about LFG tool destroying games, what does destroy games is having all this content that is difficult to see.
Do I use mantras? Nope.
I think the mistake made with mantras is having them do the same things other abilities do but with a charge time and effect cut in half. Make mantras that do other things, like a mantra that makes your next attack crit 100%.
Not having a LFG tool is as bad to the community as being able to join multiple guilds with the same character. Oh wait…
Why i need to be force to JOIN a guild just because i want to do dungeons? I am in a guild with more than 100 members. We have fun, we joke and we have a great time together. Thats enought “social” for me… And we are always doing differents things.
But sometimes, nobody is doing dungeons, and i want to do some.
I would LOVE a LFG tool. I was just pointing out and wondering how other people in this thread can say it will destroy the community when there are plenty of game features, such as being able to join multiple guilds, that will also destroy the community. Here’s another one: map chat. How is only being able to talk to people in the same zone as you foster any sense of “community.”
Also the LFG “tool” in the contacts menu is L O L. A blue dot next to someones name when you click on them does next to nothing in forming a group. And you can’t say that it’s simpler or easier than a LFG tool would be.

Really looking forward to how Anet will address this.
Zhaitan in general was a big letdown. The “fight” with him was so boring, it just wore out my 2 key. And how he attacked the ship by body slamming into it?! He’s a DRAGON, why didn’t he just breathe deathly fire and kill everyone right there? Did he suddenly turn into a Snorlax that just woke up? Everything leading up to him made Arah a pretty good dungeon, but Zhaitan was just boring.
A player asking game developers how they should play the game is a good indication of how out of touch this game has become. The game devs should be asking how we want to play, what we want in the game, what do we enjoy and how can it be better. Threads like these and the causes of them (the patch to dungeons) are nuisances.
1/10. Did absolutely nothing to encourage people to play other dungeons. Many of them are unplayable or unrewarding. Should’ve addressed the real issue, what people have been saying since these official forums came up.
Exotic armor should NOT be easy to get. Everyone who is complaining that the “easy way” of getting exotic prestige armor got fixed is in the wrong. So you can’t run the easy path anymore to get your exotic armor easy. That is intended. If anyone has played GW1 and remembers Obby armor, or 15k armor you would see the dungeons in a different light.
I wasn’t easy to get before this patch. It took 10+ runs just to get one piece. Getting the entire set was already a grind even with the easy path. And the other paths had the same exact rewards even though they took more time and was more challenging. I bet that’s intended as well.
You guys changed the reward from 20+ silver down to 2 silver? when we die our repair bill is more than 2 silver fix it.
Not to mention the teleport cost to get to the entrance and that’s about 2 silver+.
This is just a bad decision overall. There’s so many other things you guys could’ve done to improve dungeons and the game overall; lower repair costs, better loot from dungeons, lower costs of max level gear; but instead you penalize and restrict players from doing things. Running CoF chain #2 was by far the easiest and most profitable but now it’s near impossible.
Mounts, we need mounts. Mounts now!
Agreed, but not before they make them actually playable.
