Items that are good to trade (and I recommend doing more than one at a time, to reduce risk) are:

Strawberries, Raspberries, Chili Peppers, Onions, Oranges, Vanilla Beans, Cotton Scraps, Peppercorn, Copper Ore, Darksteel Ingots, any (non-exotic) bolts.

The turn around for these items is different and the risk in losing money on the trade varies between products (vanilla beans are risky right now because a-net did something to the supply). I may have missed a few, but those are the ones off the top of my head. Have fun!

Copper Ore isn’t a thing you can make money with.
Currently you can buy them cheap at 16 and sell them at 19.
16×1.15 = 18 so you only have 1 copper profit.

This means that you need to trade 1.000 to only have 10 silver profit.

All you need to do is keep in mind that there is a 15 % fee.
So take an item you want to trade and add 15 % to the buy price. If the buy price is lower than the sell price you want it’s a good item.

Which item you need to trade I’m not going to say.

But for people who say the trading post isn’t profitable. They are wrong.
I traded for like 2 hours now and made 1 gold each hour. And I can even make more if I want.

Just spend some time with it. You’ll get the hang of it.

You know what would be awesome?
To play as a grawl.
I always loved them in GW1 and do love them in GW2.

I don’t think it’s bannable as long as you report it I think.
And of course you don’t have unfair advantage and make use of that advantage.

54! See, even this old fart can keep up with the “fast paced” gaming!

I know, its just not the same as it used to be, back in the day video gamers had to walk back and forth to levels uphill both ways in 3 feet deep snow- and they liked it!

lol – I’m an old fart too (50) and I can tell you, my first “video games” didn’t even have levels; just a couple of white paddles and a square ball on a black background after you plugged the console into the back of your 40-pound television.

You’re already level 50!? I really think the levelling is going to slow. It takes a 365 days just to level up! It’s just way too mutch.

I’d rather be able to play 99% of the game and let them fix the trading post when it makes sense.

I think they did a great job with the launch. They shut down non-essential services so the core of the game could be played without issue. They did it with minimal downtime. They brought up non-core parts of the game in an orderly, timely fashion in a sequence that made sense as resources became available and critical issues became less prevalent.

For me, this was a very smooth release.

I share your opinion. It was a very smart move to disable the trading post and mail temporarily. But I don’t think they only shut them down but also improved these parts.

I also don’t think this game is stressful at all. In fact, quite the opposite. I can casually wander a zone, doing events that I want, skipping ones I don’t. If you are OCD and need to finish every event that shows up on your map, that could get stressful, especially in later zones when there are 2-3 going on in the same area.

Try rolling a “Greatsword 5-signet warrior”, you can get by using only 2 abilities from 1-80, the auto attack and Hundred Blades.

Seems the Warrior is nice.
Definitly going to check out Warrior then. I even started with a Warrior but I rolled to Guardian. But I can say I’m a real melee person. I always take the melee classes. Except for Ranger, I like that one too.

It’s pretty nice yes that you just can go where you want to.
I’ve even been in a place where I was out of the map.
I can tell you, the textures are really weird there.

But to be honest, I wasn’t looking to go out of the map. I thought it was the way up to a skill point challenge.

The minimal downtime really is amazing. What a smooth launch this has been! My only beef was the trading post.

What would you rather have? A bugged trading post which is slow, where you can lose items or money. Or wait for it a little while and then have a fast working trading post?

I know what I would choose.
Ok, I was a bit dissapointed to but I think it would be more frustrating to get errors than to see the maintenance sign.

Maybe you should stick to Civilization.

Just turn the barbarians off and make sure to only have one rival on the map.

OH yeah, don’t forget to set it to easy.

To be honest, you should get a ban or something, as the OP just stated his feelings about the game. He was not rude to you, why are rude towards him? Are you a bully ONLY on the forums? Please, grow up.

The OP did state something – he likes more complicated, more, lets call it, intelligent games, that are not so based on fast pace, but on tactics, strategy. He obviously likes MMO’s and RPGS, but the industry is going in that direction. Pace. Speed. Even our lives are.

OP, hope you do find a game for yourself. Doubt any MMO will be anymore.

How was I rude…s/he said this game is to fast paced for him/her.

Do you not like Civ? I think the game is a great distraction. It is turn based, so the pace should be right for the OP.

Saying that I should be banned or something for stating MY opinion…THAT was rude, but I forgive you.

To be honest, I respect opinions. But I only respect opinions if they contain true statements. I even didn’t want to read past the part where he told that Guild Wars 2 is about fast levelling, etc.

I write here why i won’t be playing this game anymore, because as there is no monthly abonment, it’s the only way for me to give my feedback to Arenanet.
It’s one thing to sell 2 millions boxes on promesses and massive advertising, it’s another thing to satisfy your customers with the real product you give them.

Basically, what i don’t like in GW2 (but in fact it’s the tendency of these last years in PC games) is that it’s not anymore a mmorpg, but it’s an mmo"action game".
Fast fast fast, always faster, always more action, “fast-paced” fight, “dynamic” gameplay which in fact very soon fail to hide a chronical lack of richness and depth, just like these zillions of hollywoodian movies where there is always more action, faster action, shiny effects, and the scenario is always poorer…
I’m not a teenager, and i don’t want to play console type games on my PC. I don’t want to be permantly under a frustrating stress. Maybe this game is mainly made to attract the new generation, but for my part i find absotutely no pleasure in it.
It’s not too hard by its cleverness, it’s artificially too hard by unfair and unpleasant mechanisms based on reflexes over reflexion.
If i want such a game i buy a console. On my PC i want to play something more intelligent, more interesting than endlessly and aimlessly fighting monsters in such a chaotic way.
Of course, i don’t have to play GW2 if i don’t like it, and that’s why i have removed it from my PC. But as paying customer, i have the right to give my feedback as much as the ones who like this game, for i have payed the same price.
I could just forget it and go play something else, but the problem is that it’s not an isolated case, most PC games nowadays, be it online or not, tend to become console games-like.
Then what’s left for people who don’t enjoy this hysterical gaming experience and prefer something more slow paced, but with a deeper content and richer mechanisms ?
Really not much.
But my question finally is : are we really such a small minority who don’t enjoy the way the new PC games are designed ? (and all entertainment and cultural products in general).

I only read a little of your post and stopped.
Are you mad? Guild Wars 2’s intention isn’t to do the game as fast as posibile.
It’s just the opposite! It’s about exploring, having fun and do as many things as you can.
They always said it and the game shows it.

What is wrong with you people? Are you blind or something?
Please, just quit without this nonesense.

GW2 has 10 days and a month~ left.

For what in-world reason do they cost anything at all? The ones from the mists to LA are free. From LA to cities and back are free. I just don’t get it. Now, I get the ‘gold sink’ aspect, but that’s real life intruding on the game.

It doesn’t sound like you get “gold sinks” at all. They have nothing to do with real life. They are there to keep the in-game economy in check. If you want the luxury of instant travel you pay for it. This is one of the better gold sinks you can have in an mmo, purely optional.

It’s really not worth arguing with them anymore heh. They don’t want solutions, they just want to bicker about something on the internet. You’re just feeding the little trolls as I did. Let the children be children, and perhaps they will eventually be weeded out of the game due to ‘such high optional travel costs’.

No, just no. You used the wrong lettertype.

I think alot of the problems with people can’t pay they’re waypoints costs is that they levelled just too fast.
The game isn’t about levelling as fast as you can. It’s about having and the experience of the game. I have enough money to pay my waypoints and I don’t use them very much.

Could you go back to a "standard" MMO?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

This is kinda funny. A while ago in-game there was someone who was saying that Guild Wars 2 was just like all the other MMO’s. Nothing was different.
I told him otherwise and he still kept telling it was just like the other MMO’s.

But to answer your question. Yes, I can. But do I want that? No, Guild Wars 2 is a awesome game. The graphics, gameplay, community, everything makes this game awesome.
This is the first MMO where I don’t get bored after a time. It’s because you have so many choices. It isn’t only questing and grinding like all the “standard” MMO’s.

I actually want to do 100 % map completion, get as many achievements as I can and of course get all the crafting disciplines to the max. Which uses a awesome system aswell. I’ll never have to start again with a crafting discipline because it keeps where you were last time.

I’ve been waiting for this game since they announced it. It was a hard time, especially when I saw the first gameplay video’s.
However I didn’t play in the beta’s and the stresstests much. This is because it would possibily spoil my fun at the start of the game.

The only thing I can say to ArenaNet is that you did a great job. For years World of Warcraft was the best MMORPG. To be honest, this game beats World of Warcraft in many ways. Keep it up!
