I’m not some leet kid looking for the ultimate cheat area or something ridiculous. I just like to use my “wallet” as my endgame “level meter.” Different people like to see different stats or different colors change – I like my gold number to rise.

I know that there are a lot of different ways to do this, but is there still a place where it’s viable to roam solo, pick up mats and fight for drops, and make a decent rate of gold? When I get on for an hour and I don’t want adrenaline – I just want to add a few gold to the coffers – what’s my best bet?

What kind of gold rates per hour are people getting roaming around different areas?

Even to be cynical about the profit motive (maybe there’s a programming issue?), this would be incredibly lucrative. I would gladly pay a hefty sum. All of my characters except for one, whom I would like to play heavily, share a “surname,” which is important both for my internal sense of RP and OCD, as well as for easy recognition in guild chat. I have no desire whatsoever to relive early levels in a class I’ve already played.

Please, people, stop thinking this way. This is what people hate about MMO persistent development…

Don’t nerf warrior; buff engineer. Everyone agrees that Engineer needs more usefulness in WvW and dungeons, at the least.

I’ve started naming all of my characters with a “surname” to be recognizable on my WvW guild when I swap. However, an early high-level alt doesn’t have this, and I find it very upsetting. I hate rerolling characters, as I don’t like the first 30-40 levels of gameplay (this is true, proportionally, with any MMO for me).

I actually agree with your point that you’ve spent a ridiculous amount of gold (=game-effort), time, and, well, ingenuity might be a strong word, but I’m with you on your deserved rewards.

Similarly, I agree with others (and you did, too, though many ignored that) that those who have spent similar amounts of time and effort should be rewarded similarly (eg people like myself who have killed a million or so undead).

But really, what all of that comes to is this: just make /age viewable in the same way that achievement points are currently. I mean, who’s to say that RPers shouldn’t earn recognition for a similar amount of time/effort in their specialty? (Anyone who says RPing isn’t as nuanced, skill-based, and difficult as dungeon-roaming hasn’t had to think on their toes in group RP.) Or someone who spends all their time doing thankless tasks in WvW (you don’t get achievements for serving as “eyes in bay”).

Wouldn’t /age, then, be the true measure you’re looking for? That would simply replace all infinite achievements, and achievements could be left all non-infinite. Although, I do like the idea of seeing how many undead I really have killed…

I don’t believe I claimed to be the best player, or better than anyone at anything. I do however have 15k achievement points. That’s the only thing I claimed and it’s an indisputable fact.

Are you really so insecure that you need to disparage other’s meaningless achievements?
