I’ve barely used my rev since creating one not long after HoT, but was interested to know if there have been any significant changes to them since. Beyond that of a support role, is it possible to create a solely DPS focused rev, for PvE as well as PvP, and if so, how does it compare to other classes? Is it even viable?
Way more armor sets.
This.
(perhaps some heavy armour that looks like light, I’ve discussed this on a few threads already how I wish the Guardian was more Monk-like, and this would be a compromise of sorts)
Also, further exploration of the continent. Crystal Desert, Charr Homelands, there are a few areas that can be the setting.
I’ve posted this before, so I’ll link to that thread. I really would like to see those mentioned specialisations, if it were ever possible.

No it is not at this time if ever mate, buy a new slot and level up a dif mesmer and keep the old one for tailoring if you like. ( you can now use the level 80 boost aswell to skip leveling)
As I said, I know that’s not the case at the moment, my question is with regard to technical details: In theory, is this something that could be done (some other games do offer the ability to change specific aspects later on, usually a cash shop option)?
I’m sure this has been brought up before. I know the game currently doesn’t provide for this, but the question I have, is it theoretically possible to change choices made within the Personal Story? For example, I would like to change the order my Mesmer joined, but don’t want to reroll the character as he’s maxed Tailoring. I know this could be rather entangling given story sequences, rewards, etc. But is it even technically feasible for anet to implement such changes? Perhaps even changing such aspects for gems?
I’d like to hear how people feel about this.
I recently got Windows 10, but have yet to boot it to a new hard-drive (am upgrading to a gaming rig). I’m apprehensive about using 10, because of problems I’ve heard, namely compatibility issues with the game. Has 10 reached a more stable point now? Is the general consensus that it’s worthwhile using it?
Can we still get the blue weapons if we missed SAB in its previous appearances? Also the blue backpiece? Oh, and are they still labelled ‘Super’ weapons?
The only MMOs that can reasonably exist are the one’s that appeal to the larger player base and grab their attention. There is no room for MMOs that target a niche crowd, because the profits from that niche crowd aren’t enough to cover the volume of content and volume of features we all have come to expect as “standard” in an MMO.
Is that so? How do you explain EVE Online, then? It’s now almost 13 years old, has a loyal, hardcore and active fanbase, yet is still well known. However, in comparison to other MMOs, it’s pretty small.
Don’t hold your breath. If it is released, it’d be a welcome surprise.
The mini Colin will be finally released. And as promised, will have dialogue fitted as standard: “Hey, you swung a sword! Oh look, you swung your sword again!”
Following an event chain allows the unlocking of a Locomotive (with H.Y.P.E. emblazoned on the boiler) glider.

I’m going to park all of my characters at the Ebonhawke cemetery, then I am going to load up GW1 and cry as I remember all of the good times.
Sigh, I still log on regularly for the nostalgia. And get that instant fix of playing a better game, even if it is emptier of players.
The expansion has been a disappointment, back in LS season 2, I thought there was going to be a genuine improvement with many aspects of the game I find so disappointing. As a GW1 loyalist, I’ve tried defending and overlooking the growing list of flaws and disappointments I’ve had with this game, but ultimately, it’s not the same game, and Anet back then treated their customer base very differently. I’m still going to play the game here and there, but I’ve long since accepted that it’s very unlikely to improve. How long for in the face of competition, I don’t know, especially given recent developments with the staff and decisions made.
It was mentioned earlier that somebody got a glider without having to purchase it, and by doing a festival event chain. This implies that it was free, which it wasn’t. Essentially, it was bought from the store, as it could only be acquired with the Angry Gift mini, a gemstore item. So, aside from the default glider, there aren’t any ‘free’ gliders.
Wow, such constructive responses. I think the dolyak idea sounds like the quintessential GW2 mount, and I personally would love to see such an idea implemented. But as has been stated before, mounts coming into the game is an unlikely prospect, particularly with the effort invested into gliding. Impossible? Well, as has also been stated, no raids…
Well, I did mention I know it would be a pain in implementing, and thus balancing. But I still would like to hear ideas on this theme. Even if it’s just a pipedream
I know this topic has been discussed before, including the various difficulties in implementing such a system. However, what I would like to ask you all is if you could choose a different armour type as a specialisation choice for a class, what would you choose and why? I should point out, in order to give purpose to the previous specialisations, the weapons and thus skills/traits of those specialisations would be separate. I.e. you wouldn’t be able to use these armour changes as well as the first specialisations. Also, I propose a few skill changes on the existing weapons of the specific classes to reflect the specialisation.
I’ll give some examples, obviously not fleshed out, but to give an idea.
Guardian: Monk
This would entail wearing light armour, and focus on healing/ protection, ala the monk from GW1. Possibly with the aim of becoming more focused in this regard than the druid (and thus making the trinity more tangible). Perhaps increased range for the base staff attack skill, the other weapon skills focused on healing/ prot.
Necromancer: Death Knight
This would be a heavy armour wearing version of the necro, and so as well as relying on minions as extra meat shields, the Death Knight itself would be able to tank quite nicely.
Revenant: Dervish.
Another light armour choice, with the Legend being Warmashall Varesh Ossa. Visually, instead of a scythe, dual swords can be used (as in a traditional dervish). The class would be focused mainly on burst dps, and the sword skills would be reflective of this.
Well, these are some idea, would love to hear what the community might have to add.
Please, please, can you guys bring this back into the game? I’d happily pay gems for it. Yes, I know it was tied with the title in LS season 1, but there shouldn’t be an issue with bringing the mask itself.
And Paulytnz, that depends very much on the lighting of the area you’re in. Divinity’s Reach by daytime shows a lovely golden sheen, very bright, metallic and reflective.
Hawkmen…..Dive!
I’ve thought more about this, and I feel that the transmutation option would be the most feasible. Ultimately, all the models are already there (i.e. for race and gender), it isn’t really a technical issue (as opposed to say, transmuting cultural armour skins, which would require starting from scratch to fit the models on other races). Thus, if I wanted to go with a classic cleric/monk look, I could simply transmute Devout or Winged skins on to my heavy. If I wanted the “Death Knight” look to my necro, hey presto, Armageddon skin. Perhaps if there are enough people who want this, it can be implemented
In fairness, Liewec, having light armour on a heavy type (or vice versa) would mean different stats. What I would happily settle for is an all type wardrobe system, where I can transmute skins from a light type to my heavy type character. That way, no balance issues would be created. Ultimately, I would prefer ‘real’ (as in not through a wardrobe system) light armour on my heavy, but as I said, I’d settle for a transmutation, which is still superior to an outfit (more dye options, mixing and matching etc).
I’m sure this has been posted before, but one thing that really bothers me about the guardian is that it’s a heavy armour type. I chose it as my main because of how it was the natural descendant of the Monk (especially having chosen Dwayna) from GW1, and really wish it could have light armour style robes. And yes, I’m fully aware of outfits. Whilst I see their appeal, my point/proposal is somewhat different.
What if you could wear different armour types? Imagine a heavy armour wearing Reaper (sort of a Death Knight). And a light armour wearing Guardian. Now, I appreciate this is technically a difficult aspect to implement in the game, and will no doubt introduce all sorts of balance issues. But I’m curious to hear from people if this indeed something that has the potential to be implemented (ala Elder Scrolls Online), and if you would want to see such a thing in the game.
Yes, I have. I chose the priory on my Mesmer, and wish I could change it to Order of Whispers. Also, on my main, a Guardian, I had chosen the circus route, and would like a way to change it to dead sister arc. Who knows, maybe one day they’ll offer a way to change it for gems.
I’ve got a question on putting items that are of varying levels (but same type, i.e. rare) within the forge. For example, 3 level 80s and one level 78. I want to know how this affects the rate of what Zomorros awards. I’m deliberately flushing near 80 rares with actual level 80s for the chance of getting a precursor, or a valuable level 80 exotic. What I’m not so sure about is how adding a lower level rare (76+) to the mix affects the chance of getting a precursor and the valuable exotics.
I really like this idea, it’s always been a disappointment for me that monks didn’t make it into GW2, and that guardians were essentially their spiritual successors. I very much like your idea of implementing light armour for this specialisation, I was thinking along similar lines today (quick google search found this specific thread), though I personally would stick with mage-type weapons, i.e. staff and sceptre/ focus. I imagine there’d probably be significant balance issues in doing this, but my thoughts would be to change the actual skills of these weapons. Perhaps increase the range of them significantly (not extreme, of course), so that as a supporting/ healing class, the monk won’t be as close to the enemy. I really hope there are more former GW1 players out there who would like to see the return of the Monk proper through a system as this. I understand that the druid is currently taking much of these responsibilities with the inclusion of raids, but I do feel it would be more appropriate to have that role assigned to this (potential) guardian specialisation.
I for one really like the new LA, kind of reminds me of the old Lego Imperial guard forts in the Pirates series. But I think getting bogged down in LA is probably veering off topic.
Yes, I’m aware of the pavilion, the district idea was just something I’d like to see. Space wise, squeezing in an Imperial chef’s hut would suffice for me, at least that token gesture would be there Don’t take it too seriously, Agemnon, it’s just an idea, I doubt they’ll be introducing Cantha or Elona any time soon, even though I and many GW1 loyalists feel it’s in their best interests to bring those areas into the game.
The thing I’d like to see in DR would be the Canthan district. Yes, I know there was an original design for one, but, you never know, could be a launch platform for a potential Cantha release. Perhaps. One day.
Whilst it’s nice to see new weapon skins every now and then, sometimes (well, at least to me) it doesn’t seem so obvious as to what their origins are, and what theme they’re supposed to be following. I’m going out on a limb here, and assuming the new plasma weapons are based on the technology found in Rata Novus. If that’s the case, that’d be a nice addition for any Asuran characters out there (sort of like having some cultural relics in your hands). Would be brilliant of others can shed more light on this, especially from the designer(s) involved.
Me too. I wanted the black wings when they came out, but missed them by a day. I was quietly hoping for a white wings variant. My wish was granted, and fortunately I logged on the day it was released. I really wanted it to complete the ‘Paragon’ look. Medium Vigil Armour, wings, sorted. Just wish that spears would be introduced…
One thing that I’ve discussed with some players about the immersive experience they can or in this case cannot get is that when selecting an enemy/ npc or other player, an aura surrounds the selected target. For an npc/ player, it’s green, and for an enemy it’s red. What I’d like to know is if there is some way to turn this aspect off. Much obliged
Likewise My guild utilised the Warrior Isle. Would love to see it again, many happy memories
Would be interesting to see what others they put in.
Has any information been dispensed with regard to there being different kinds of Guild Halls, a la GW1? By this I mean different styles of halls available, for instance, Warrior’s Isle, Isle of Meditation etc. From the videos released so far, the Halls shown appears to be the same kind in a jungle/ desert setting. I understand that this fits within the style of Heart of Thorns, but do we know if Anet plan on releasing further styles of Hall?
I couldn’t see anything on those lines, but admittedly, I only went back a few pages.
That is good news, though. I would love to be able to wield GS/swords on an Engi. Would be interesting to see what sort of functions/skills they’d have for them.
What with the elite specialisations that are to be implemented on to the classes in the game, I’m curious to hear if there’s viability in there eventually being the option for all weapons to become available to every class, with each weapon obviously having different skills for each respective class. Perhaps in a number of cases how the weapons are used could be radically different, for example, how the mesmer currently uses the greatsword in an unconventional ranged weapon role in comparison to other classes.
I understand that this isn’t a simple matter, and would require considerable effort, but I do think it’s workable.
I am wearing an outfit, I mentioned my happiness specifically of the Monk outfit that was recently released. Up until that point, I had been using a chef’s outfit (hat turned off) dyed to mimic the style of the Ascalonian starter armour. I know it’s difficult, which is why I’ve posted here, maybe there’s been some datamining of upcoming releases or the like which may suggest a more homogeneous approach to armour sets.
Reckon that there’ll be new armour sets for HoT? If so I really hope that there’ll be skins that achieve the ‘light’ look.
Without delving too much on how the Guardian is essentially the spiritual successor to the monk (certain skills have made it over, albeit tweaked for gw2, as well as aspects (aegis, for example), my post was with regard to trying to achieve a specific look. Please try to keep to this topic.
As a Monk main in GW1, I was quite upset when that class was removed for GW2, though I can accept why. I know the guardian fills a lot of the gaps for this class in GW2, but one thing I personally find difficult to deal with are the ‘paladin’ connotations, as it’s a class that wears heavy armour (I also only use the mage/cleric weapons that one would expect, staff, sceptre and focus, and not melee weapons). I really wish there was an armour set that could be introduced that fits the light category more appropriately, something that would feel like a mage or cleric. Yes, I know there are outfits, even a Monk outfit, which as a Prophecies main made me jump for joy. But there isn’t currently a way to transmute it as a skin on to armour pieces (yes, I know this wouldn’t be a simple matter, particularly with the dye system). Currently, there are only two armour skins that kind of fulfil the look I’m after, but not greatly. The first is the Draconic armour set, particularly without the helmet. The second is the HotW armour set, which seems to have a shamanistic appearance. I appreciate that this is a subjective area, but I really want to be able to immerse myself better into this game with my main character. I’d be interested in getting thoughts about this from others.
