Its definitely a something… I can barely play right now and I usually have a great connection… every ability I try to use has at least a half second delay, sometimes going as bad as even 10 to 15 second delay…
Tons of lag here too…

Just a heads up for those posting, Ascii is probably not going to be able to respond to you here. If you have questions for him it may be best to try to catch him on stream and ask there as he’s usually really good at answering questions there.
I’m having this issue, but not when i’m running. Mine gets stuck doing this while I’m standing still at times. I know that jumping will reset something and make it stop but its very annoying when I’m trying to get a quick WP off for champ farming or getting to an event or something…
If you find the Ornery Crabs in Bloodtide, look at them and walk towards them. They will stop and wave their claws at you and the lines appear immediately. Its DEFINITELY the crab emote, but its a little annoying. Could we get some text put on that emote so we know what its doing? like “Ornery Crab threatens <Char Name>.”
I’m still seeing this happen in Bloodtide Coast. Its quite annoying. I hate to necro bump, but this is the only place I’ve found this mentioned.

The best suggestion I’ve seen here is to award less points for upgraded or long held structures. I know people in my guild have been advocating that for months and I still believe it would help a lot.
My problem here is it significantly decreases the incentive to defend when there’s barely any to begin with. You wind up with matches where you never see an enemy player because there’s no real incentive to stop you from taking their stuff.
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to provide a little direction here to the discussion. Firstly I want to reiterate Chris’ point in the original post: “2: We will not be disclosing information pertaining to what is currently in development.” I think there are a lot of really intriguing ideas to be found in this thread, but it’s not the purpose of this space for us to discuss what we are or aren’t doing to address the issue. More broadly speaking I wanted to clarify the types of things we take into consideration when we make large changes to WvW. One of the most important aspects of Guild Wars 2 is the spirit of collaboration that we want to foster between players. It’s a core principle behind the event system, the skills in the game, the way we created gathering nodes, etc. Simply put, if a change will cause players to be less inclined to playing with other players, we won’t make it. Changes to WvW that incentivize players to avoid others on the map or that create incentives to have a smaller general population on the map create just that problem. When we look to make changes to WvW we look towards encouraging players to play together, finding ways to empower groups of skilled players to be able to make their mark even against superior numbers, etc. Solutions to the population imbalance would absolutely have to take that into account.
In addition, we don’t release specific numbers in terms of populations, queues, etc. and I can’t comment directly on those statistics. I’d be more curious to know what people think is the reason behind the fact that score is so directly related to the number of people on a server 24/7 and how WvW could be designed differently to address that moving forward. My personal observation is that the momentum you gain from even a small period of having more people online is so large that it can’t be overcome. Which makes me think we need to be doing more to slow that momentum.
Again, this is intended to be a discussion about the design principles, and not a forum for requests for information about current projects or to request specific changes.
Thanks again for the discussion, I hope it continues to progress positively.
My apologies if this has already been discussed, but how would it look to have a system that took the “Outmanned” buff into account? If 1 enemy server on the map has the buff your points per objective are cut by a certain percentage. If both enemy servers have it your points per objective are cut by an even greater percentage.
The same could work in reverse (if you have outmanned your objectives are worth more) but that gets even closer to the line of someone in map chat yelling at someone for coming on the map and making the outmanned buff go away.

I thought at one time only the Human thieves had this. I don’t think my Asura does but I’ll check it out.
The build you posted is fine, though I don’t find 30 arms to be worth losing fast hands over.
If he’s running LB on the swap, is fast hands necessary? I wouldn’t think it would be worth it to swap to the LB unless you had to go ranged.
I’m posting this as a question as much as a statement, cause I wouldn’t think it would be worth it and if it is I would like to know why so to speak.
Weirdly refreshing seeing someone play my exact build in WvW instead of the usual bunker or Hybrid zerg crawler. It makes me even more tempted to record my own fights and upload them. Well played!
If I may ask what build do you run? just to see if it is the exact same
haha
0/10/30/30/0 with triple meds and GS/Hammer with 2 sigils of energy slotted on the weapons
Dang man that’s a good build you’re currently running my old one but I do have the 2 energy sigils
I rotate between 20/0/30/20/0 for Burst, 0/10/30/30/0 for an all rounder and 0/0/30/20/20 for more group orientated fights. Usually see me running around as the all rounder.
I only recently went back to the all rounder after a while because I missed my VoJ blind tbh haha
What gear are you running with these builds?
I recently re-rolled an Asura guard to Human. Its not terrible if you don’t have like a legendary or full map completion or anything like that.
…
Vitality is mostly a useless stat since it makes heals less efficient and get’s shaved off like nothing against burst builds if your defense isn’t very high.
…[/quote]
How does it make your heals less effective? If you heal for 250 it doesn’t matter if you have 1000 health or 10000 its still 250 more health they have to get through to kill you… Larger health pool actually allows you to get MORE passive heal ticks in from your guardian because it’ll be harder to hit full health.
I don’t recommend a Guardian running in large group WvW ever completely ditching PVT gear, their base health is far to low to manage without an extra buffer against large groups.
They are not high enough currently, agreed and we will be making changes to the rank-up chests to make them significantly more rewarding.
Please tell me it will apply retroactively.
I hope you don’t seriously think they would do that? Did they go back and give people 2 rares for every time they’d killed a world boss before they put in that system?
So far in the game, all conditions had a corresponding boon to go with it. We’ve now added a condition but not a boon to go with it, so how do skills the convert conditions to boons affect the new Torment condition?
The matchups are not actually calculated until the reset, so we are currently unable to provide info about them until they start. We’ll definitely look into a way to try and get the information out ahead of time, but it’s complicated.
I know a lot of us are REALLY enjoying the surprise factor in reset nights currently. I kinda hope we don’t actually get the new match ups announced ahead of time. Waiting to see what name was going to come up on my loading screen last Friday was quite exciting :P
Well that’s the problem, guesting doesn’t help me as WvW is what I do.
That’s what I figured was the case though, thanks!
My brother picked up the game back in Beta with me but was deployed overseas before the game launched. He’ll be coming back home in a month or so and I’m currently playing WvW on Tarnished Coast.
I’m noticing that TC is showing as “Full” now and know that means you can’t transfer there, but for a new player will my brother be able to select TC as his home server or will me and my wife have to transfer to be able to play with him?
Also it seems as if the server’s being Full or Very High doesn’t really fluctuate anymore, is it an issue of we’ll have to keep an eye on it and let him make a character there when there are fewer people logged in?
So essentially you want the ability to buy more profession starting gear, but only the one you chose at the beginning of character creation. And perhaps in the form of a skin, so you can apply it to whatever level of gear you currently need?
Sounds good to me. Having to transmute the thing dozens of times as you level is annoying, to say nothing of the people who sell / destroy theirs and can never get it back.
Basically this.. Or like for me currently I want my Wraith eyes on my Necro, but already have it for my Condition gear, and have to either destroy it or accept that I won’t have the ability to go all out with my gear or get a full 6 piece bonus on my Power gear. I know I can technically make a new necro and through a series of transmutations make it account bound and get it on my other gear, but that seems like so much of a waste and not intended practice.
And I also understand there are times you have skins that you can only get one of, or that you’ll have to choose. Like I don’t want to just be able to apply a legendary weapon skin to all the different weapon stats I may want for my character. I don’t think you should be able to get any skin you want whenever you want it, because getting skins is part of this game and its not supposed to be complete cake. But there is no way to “earn” the starting gear looks back and the selections in Character Creation feel more personal and I think should be easier to maintain throughout your character’s life.

After reading this I had to go back to WvW, as I apparently completely missed the word skin on that tab. I’m not sure I’d agree with all the skins being there, as I do believe a choice is a choice, but being able to buy more fanged dread masks would certainly put a menacing, fanged smile on my face.
Yeah, I don’t guess I touched that part, but I agree if you picked one I wouldn’t want you to be able to go back and pick up a different one. The choice should matter, but I feel like the choice should matter past the first time I get an upgrade to that gear slot more easily if I wanted it to…
I love the new WvW skin system that was added in the last patch. I have a suggestion though to add something similar for the items selected in the Character Creation process.
Choices (like guardian shoulders, thief hoods, necro/mesmer masks) are part of our Character and I think it would be nice to have the ability to keep that look more easily. There are flavor texts when selecting these things that are supposed to reflect the personality of our characters. Currently its a pain to try to keep that look and if you happen to delete that item and want to get it back later its quite the pain.
My suggestion is to put a vendor tab on our class trainers (or somewhere else, just figured that was easiest) for items much like Hall of Monuments or WvW skins that are for the skins that we can select in that step of our character creation. Make them soul bound or whatever so they are only available to the class that are supposed to have them and such.
I’m with Mudrock, already on Auto, but have figured out a way around this for me.
I can get the mumble overlay to work if I have Overwolf running and keep Mumble in the foreground while GW2 is loading. Somehow this makes my overlay work without the -nopatchui tag.
I know for me personally, I’ve tracked down my BLTC bugs to the -nopatchui tag. If I run the game with it I can’t use the BLTC.
If I run it without the -nopatchui I can’t use my Mumble overlay so I’m having to pop in and out of the game for now.
The TP is broken for me if I use the -nopatchui command to login with a shortcut… It used to work about a month ago but it is now broken, havent been able to get anyones feedback on this
Noticing the same thing for myself. Had to add -nopatchui so that my Mumble overlay to work.
I was thinking most people have complained all the short bows are just smaller versions of the long bows.
I’ve not done a ton of digging myself (recently been using the slingshot myself for kicks) but you could also check Dulfy for shortbow skins. I’m probably going to stick with the skin from AC for a while once I get it for my thief.
EDIT: Just realized Dulfy doesn’t have a Shortbow section yet

Ok, thank you, but i know for a fact that it didn’t affect all the siege weapon in the same way before, why did you change it ?
It really did, just because you didn’t realize someone else was tagging it for you and keeping it alive didn’t mean it wasn’t happening. I’ve lost lots of siege to this in the past.
Mudslinging and Trashtalking?
Then tell me what is it called with 10-15 Db AND 10-15 NSP are fighting side by side killing our Golems infront of Greenbriar. You tell me why DB is camping a supply camp that is closest to our (Bluewater) Spawn on the other side of the map, when they do not event have their area accounted for (Greenvale). You tell me why NSP or DB takes our supply camps when we assault the other teams objectives.
<snip> because I don’t care about how big and bad you think you are</snip>
Just wanted to point out, I was there… When you have a 10+ Siege Golem Army parading around the map you make them a target. I don’t remember seeing DB at Briar. Thinking about it they would obviously be there defending that tower because it was right outside their spawn and they would want to defend it. It was all red names and golems and we were pretty much just focused on the golems because the theory was after taking Briar they would go to Bay next which was our last keep on the map and those golems had already cut through our 2 other keeps like they were butter.
I could see DB thinking the same thing: DH has golems taking our tower, kill the golems and wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of them didn’t realize we had come in trying to put some dmg on the golems.
I laugh at all the double-teaming talk. We may need to go back to calling it World vs World VS WORLD. I’m under the constant feeling of being double teamed because hey… there are two other servers here fighting…
Checking in for a bump.. Join up, we’ll have fun!
I have always been a thief/rogue in every game I’ve played. Wound up switching to Guardian in BWE, then at launch I went back to Thief. Got my Thief to level 80 and full exotics and spent about 2-3 weeks trying to find an alt to play and am now playing a Guardian again… So, there’s no one right answer for everyone in this game it seems.
i use razer nostromo… so its kinda the same as 52te, and i experience the same problem – not only in guild wars! had the same in aion. i guess its gamepad-related issue.
Nope, that’s what I thought too as I had the same problem in SWTOR, but that’s why this thread is here, I switched to using my keyboard and it happened MORE frequently. Its NOT the game pad.
Nope, custom PC with my own personal Win7 install.
Not sure why you’d have to make it conditional when other classes just get flat out piercing traits. Not looking them up or anything but I seem to remember both Warrior Rifle and Ranger bows (not sure if long/short/both) get piercing traits that aren’t tied to chances. Seems like a standard trait that I understand our shortbow not having (thanks to bounce) but the pistols would get a much better shot at being used by me if this were the case.
As nice as that sounds, I’m not someone who can afford a gaming keyboard just to see if it helps.
My current keyboard isn’t exactly cheap as it is, $80 logitech keyboard. And like I said, was having this same issue with my Belkin n52te. Not convinced the problem is the keyboard, looking for someone to confirm that’s what the symptoms point to (or that they point to something else and what that something else may be) before going out and paying for an expensive keyboard that in the end has the same problem.
It also seems to be something that has more recently become a problem. Is it possible something in a game update is causing this? That’s partly why I came here asking to see if more people were having the issue.
Sounds like a keyboard issue probably triggered when attempting to push down several keys at the same time it is not communicating with the OS properly.
That’s my thought as well and wondering what I can do to fix it if that is the case.
Well its made me run off cliffs in WvW fighting, which is not a good thing. The hanging up on its own doesn’t bother me as much as the idea of it messing with me in a PVP battle where my character stops doing what I thought it would and then have my focus drawn away from the fight and lose.
I now have noticed it happen occasionally where no matter what I press on my keyboard he won’t stop moving. I think have to click on the screen and then move and he stops. Its almost as if the game has lost focus somehow, but I would think if anything else gained focus I would see my start bar pop up over my game and that has not been the case.
At this point I’m wondering if its a design flaw of my “cheap” hardware. I don’t have a gaming computer, and the belkin gamepad I’m using is quite old. I may try out my wife’s razer nostromo and see if I have the same problems. Also tempted to pull out a PS2 keyboard and see if I still have this problem.
Thanks, hadn’t really thought of that but that doesn’t seem to be the problem. I keep most of those things toggled off, I think it would require pressing Shift 5 times in a row to toggle it on and I don’t think any of my keybinds include a shift. That doesn’t appear to be the problem.
I seem to be getting a problem more and more lately. I will be playing and then next thing I know my character is stuck running to the left or right (occasionally diagonally). I usually have to press the direction he’s moving to make him stop.
I thought at first this was an issue with my game pad. I use a Belkin 52te and thought maybe it was getting old and wanted to die. So I switched back to using my keyboard and it seems to happen MORE now. Any ideas what is going on or how to fix it? EXTREMELY annoying
No class restrictions at this time rich. We’re trying to build up active members to make our forces stronger and our reach larger.
P/D is more of a sPvP small skirmish condition build. It’s not really any good in WvW, since single target condition builds really won’t do much when fighting zerg v. zerg. I wouldn’t suggest spending all the money on the gear unless you are truly determined to use it.
Depends on your WvW role… If you’re a scout I could actually see it working very nicely.
Number 3 skill is nothing like unload, it strikes the target and shadow steps you away, giving you an extra way to evade attacks
Maybe you don’t know how to play this spec, but some people are very successful with it.The descriptions of number 3 don’t say anything about shadow stepping. That would make it substantially more useful.
But cloak and dagger on a ranged build isn’t that great of an idea because you have no really good way to follow it up – five bleeds is much easier to recover from than a back stab.
But you’re right I don’t know this spec extremely well. And I’m a bit biased against pure condition builds because I think they lack versatility which I believe is the thief’s greatest strength.
If you’re looking at build editors their info on the number 3 skill is incorrect for some reason with P/D you stab and then shadow step away and shot the target, with D/P you shot and then shadow step to the target for a stab
Yes, one of the build editors bugged out and P/D shows the 3 skill of Pistol with no offhand, which is a kittened version of Unload. The tool tip in game actually does say it shadow steps:
Shadow Strike
Dual Wield. Stab your foe, then shadowstep away and shoot them.
Damage: 336
Range: 130
P/D is not about doing the most burst damage at one time, its about wearing down opponents because they can’t hit you (stealth plus kiting abilities like Dancing Dagger and Shadow Strike) and they bleed out in the mean time.
Its all about different play styles and while I love this one, I’ve become much more fond of Power builds in WvW which is where I play mostly. But even then I don’t use D/D (though I do like D/D)
Nostagmus is right. Problem is that Scepter 1 is a chain. Therefore it can’t just spam the attack the way Guardian Scepter 1 does or our Staff 1 does. It has to wait to see if the attack hits to know whether to start the chain over or go to the next step of the chain.
I do wish they would give us something here more than Cluster bomb, yes it CAN do some damage if you’re specced right, but its SUPER slow.
However I’d be slow to throw Guardians out there as an example of 1200 range weapons. The scepter auto attack is nearly useless at that range as its slower than cluster bomb. However the 2 ability on guardian scepter is one of the best abilities I’ve used on oil pots and such. Low cool down and pretty good AoE damage.
haha
