i think dual pistol could work nicely, thinking of “Spellslinger” in “Wildstar”. Also Greatsword an magic combined can be a lot of fun, as in the “Herald of Xotli” Class from “Age Of Conan”. We will see…

Use the Mystic Forge to create orbs, it is cheaper.

I’d like to ask what to throw in the forge to make it cheaper. Because I couldn’t find any recipe for gems just to promote rare materials. Is this the one, or is there another for gems? Because if so, it is in no way cheaper when it involves elonian wine which costs 25 silver.

I am sorry if this is a litte of topic but…

To me it feels like alot of you players who complains about this have actually been farming exp to level up your masteries as fast as possible and I just can’t see why you now are complaining that you don’t get more stuff for leveling…

It is like get a realy tasty cake and you eat it as fast as possible becouse it has different flavours in each part so you want to taste it all now and when the cake is gone you go and complain to the one who baked you the cake becouse there isn’t anything more for you to eat. So next time, mabe slow down and enjoy yourself instead of stress everything.

This message is meant for those who have “farmed” exp in places like CoF and other stuff with multiple exp boosters.

And on to the Topic:
I think that giving a map reward is nice for a level up as some have posted… Just watch out so it doesn’t become another thing to use to farm something.

Sorry but for me this is untrue. Actually I’m a very slow progresser, do the stuff I want not what “needs to be done”. So though I play a lot I’m at mastery-level 87, so much to do in the HoT-Maps.
But those old tyria masteries… come on! Play a little here and there and after 2 weeks or so they are full (given u have enough mastery-points, which I had). It is not, that I’m craving for content, there is a lot left for me. I just want a little movement down there at the bottom of the screen with a little(!) reward when I decide that today I do not want to be in magus falls but in cursed shore or silver wastes.
And finally, as I already said in the OP, it bothers me that all those xp i get are wasted.

I’d like to add a little optimistic theory of mine.
There was no more visual butchering after the first two patches (last one being beginning of december) and I am sure that was not the plan in the beginning. (At least I hope so. Didn’t see anything or read anything in the patchnotes!) So i consider this some kind of reaction to the massive rant on this topic. I guess this was not expected by ANet and they were suprised and stopped to change the course of action.
On the other hand they are unwilling or unable to admit they made a huge mistake, otherwise they would have rerolled it. But I’m sure (or hope very hard^^) they are aware of it and how unhappy the players are with it.
Nevertheless we are stuck in this situation until they develope some alternative solution (aka graphics slider) i think.

Hi! o/

I don’t know if it’s just me, but it somehow bothers me that my xp-bar doesn’t move anymore since I finished all masteries in old Tyria.

Sure there is much more to achieve by playing the old maps with full masteries than just xp. But somehow it doesn’t really feel like progress directly. Also the xp I would theoretically get for everything I do is still displayed and it always feels a little like wasting it.

I would love some sort of system that lets me level to infinity like before specialisations were introduced. Just a little reward after a fix amount of xp to “level up”. Nothing to crazy big but also not pointless. Maybe some gold, the current map-bonus-reward, transmutation-charges or even a little amount of gems?

There would be plenty of possibilities and I’d love that!

Seriously? This suggestion is so deep down egoistic, it hurts!

“I have my hero points, I don’t care for other peoples needs. Please adjust the map for my desires and screw all other players. Thanks!” -.-

I actually considered it kind of nice implementation always, that I can help others and be rewarded for it.

Any condi pve build?

in Revenant

Posted by: Yello.3406

Yello.3406

I’d like to add the question if rev is able to purely rely on conis for dmg? I’m thinking about something like rabid gear.

The thing is i got my ranger a nice condi build with rabid gear for HoT open world and it is really fun because you can get a lot of bleeds, burns and poison on the enemy so having decent dmg compared with high amount of toughness is nice.

I was thinking of doing the same with rev but i don’t know if this will work because
1) limited condi weapons (no range)
2) condi-skills don’t seem to push out high amount of condis. looks more like dmg comes from power/condi hybrid, which would make it hard for defensive stats to fit in.

Any experience? Am I right, wrong? What other condi/def stat-combo could fit better?
Thx in advance

Wintersday: Do I miss something?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yello.3406

As i see all those complaining topics in the forum as how boring and/or difficult the wintersday-games/-grind is i get really suspicious if i missed something. there must be a reward i overlooked that is worth all the effort and tears.

I mean I tried the jumping puzzle once and fell of short after beginning and also totally screwed up on the guitar-hero-clone-thing.
The only thing i found entertaining for once, though a bit to long, was the toypocalypse.

So i decided wintersday is not for me and i go back to game content i actually enjoy. Nevertheless i was curious what kind of shinies i would miss and looked it up on dulfy. The only thing i found was that skin for some rediculous, invisible shoulderskin that gives your character a snow effect.
And it hit me. Is THIS it? That one thing everyone is craving for? Really? I don’t get it.
That is why i open this topic and ask if i miss any actually desirable loot? Well, on the other hand i seem to be one of a few that hates those wings…

I do not feel any grind so far. I think the game offers a good variation of tasks for achieving certain goals.
For example masteries: you do them by contributing to a good number of events, adventures, exploring, helping others. All contributes to mastery-xp and u find mastery-points on your way.
It is also an account-bound system, so u can contribute with different characters which also spices things up (at least for me).
I can see that I am not the fastest progresser and also bought HoT about a month after release so i haven’t seen everything so far. I know Verdant Brink and Auric Basin very well and have only stumbled through Tangled Depths and Dragons Stand once for story. There might come a time when I know every map and every event on it by heart and it starts to feel repetitive.
But exactly that was the case in the core game when you have played for more than 2 years pre HoT. You couldn’t do much besides farming dungeons, fractals or orr (from a PvE point of view).
So I don’t see the overall gameplay has changed very much.

Tried to play my Ele today, got enraged at first fireball and switched back to other character.
That reminded my of this topic and it was nearly on page 3. Can’t happen.
Also i do not understand how such an obvious mistake can go uncorrected and even unadressed for such a long time. twitch won’t happen, care about your game as it is and don’t destroy it even more by going for rediculous aims.

I also took Rabid Gear because I thought the best advantage to condi vs. power is that u don’t rely on so many stats to build your dmg. In the end u need condi-dmg and precision for procs. Rest can go to def-stats for more easy gameplay. And so overall for me it is the ideal setup for hot-open world content. Stuff dies fast and i survive pretty well. I am not immortal but also not instantly in downstate when i miss one dodge.

The only issue is little lack of aoe so i prefer torch over dagger due to big burning-field. This combined with spike-trap results in everything melting around me and me jumping around finishing off the tough guys with shortbow. So much fun. xD

I don’t really understand the complaints. I, honestly, think there is yet more work needed on the visual clutter side of things in combat. I’m tired of seeing nothing but skill effects when I need to be able to see enemy attack animations.

Your screenshot perfectly points out that Anet completely failed in their attempt to adress the problem. It is the impact-animations that also scale up on big enemies that cause the visual clutter.
Instead they nerfed the projectiles and ground effects which do not contribute to the issue. It does however decrease the gameplay experience in a very sad way.

I am not very optimistic Anet is planning any sort of slider in options for this, cause if they did, someone would have posted it in this topic since this would be an easy way to calm down the angry mob.

On the other hand they could have realised the impact of the changes just today since the kittenstorm wasn’t that big until the last patch.

I get that Anet couldn’t care less what customers want because we just gave them our money. I hardly doubt that these changes happening some weeks after HoT-release is a coincidence. “We have their money now, so we can screw them hard!”

I mean seriously: One of the most discussed topics on the forums + topics in classforums full of players being concerned and angry about those visual noise nonsense. And not only does Anet lack answers to those topics they even seem to intentionally mock players by just nerfing further on.

I can hardly think of a more obvious sign of “We don’t care!”

And what makes it all even more rediculous is that the changes do not address the problem at all! Because as said before to effectively reduce visual clutter the scaling explosion/burning/whatever effects on the enemy have to be reduced. That would make an impact and would even make sense!
But totally ruining the animation of projectiles and ground effects doesn’t make any sense! NOT ANY! It just ruins the game and makes people disapointed, sad and angry!

I really would like to know what they are smoking over there. Maybe I can get some for me so i can at least imagine the missing animations if i ever manage to reach this Anet-level of madness! -.-

I guess it was something like: “most of them money-sheeps are playing tempest with warhorn anyway. Noone will bother about Fireball.” -.-

It happened to me 3 times within 20 minutes. in the afternoon everything was fine. It seems that the server can’t tell your location very well because those instant deaths always come with some kind of map glich. I just walked around in Brisbane Wildlands at Koga Ruins and just before the instant death the game said i had discovered tangle root, which is completely on the other side of the map.

Lags are one thing but this is completely rediculous. Please fix asap!!!
