I also have a lot of problems dealing with Mesmers on my power necro. As you said, in a 1v1 it’s a bit more fair. The issue seems if you get hit with really just 1 shatter you’re so far behind and you’ll never recover.
I agree that with a lot of foresight you can dodge shatters effectively, but sometimes even the best get hit. The shatters are just doing insane damage right now if setup properly. To top it off, they’re very hard to kill if the Mesmer uses his defensive tools correctly.
As others have said – the mesmer is out of CDs, they’re quite squishy. It’s usually about playing as tanky/defensive as possible till you know you have an opening.
I used Death Magic for awhile last night and it wasn’t terrible. The extra protection did seem to do the God’s work against all those shatter mesmers and burst thieves.
In the end, Curses is probably the best option. The “Burn Situation” means that condi transfers/clears are a necessity.
It’s not healing me in Shroud, so I won’t be using it. Still cool for support playstyles, though.
If it’s proccing vamp effects than it IS healing you in shroud.
Transfusion isn’t healing you, using Shroud 4 is healing you due to the siphon procs. You don’t need Transfusion to get those heals.

Thanks Zombify.
Would you consider dropping offhand dagger for warhorn, given the insane amount of transfers this build has? I always hate playing without Swiftness, and before I could never get myself to give up OH Dagger. Now I think it might be okay… but I guess we’ll see.
Agreed completely. GW2 was amazing at launch, and quickly started dwindling on the PvP front shortly thereafter. When I do play GW2 (which is less and less every week), its to sPvP. Now all of those rewards that I earned are meaningless (I had almost 100 boosters in my bank, all from daily rewards).
This, to me, is another example of the one of the main three tiers of this game being put behind the other two in terms of priority. I understand directives, but taking away rewards that players earned in your game and returning nothing in terms of compensation is more than an affront, its a reason for me to not trust this game, or its devs, moving forward.
Unless something big changes at the Anet offices, I feel sPvP will have even less of a population than it does now.
I use fire on both weapon sets. Power Necros are all about burst and fire seems to be the best option for it. My setup is:
Dagger (Fire) / Warhorn (Bloodlust)
Axe (Fire) / Focus (Force)
Swap to a Warhorn with Force once I’m at 25 stacks.
I see you have Sigil of Earth and Sigil of Geomancy on your Scepter/Dagger combo. This is a bad setup, as the Sigil of Geomancy cooldown also effects Earth. As such, everytime you swap to scepter, your earth sigil won’t be able to proc for 9 seconds. I’d recommend swapping either earth or geomancy to corruption.
I’m a bit perplexed that this is even a question. I don’t think there’s any doubt that most people agree the rune is overpowered. That said, Fear is most definitely an interrupt. It interrupts casts, just like stuns, knockdowns, knockbacks, and dazes. If someone is forced to stop a cast due to CC, then that’s an interrupt, period.
This should be fixed and the rune needs to be balanced.
My problem is that it is currently bugged.
Description:
Grants immunity to unmodified conditions and gain 5 strikes of adrenaline per second.Bug:
Grants full immunity to conditions regardless of condition duration modifiers.
This guy has the truth of it. If the ability worked as described by the developers, it would be perfectly fine.
Only if it works in Deathshroud. Furthermore, if they’re going to nerf Terror’s damage, I would expect to see more heals function in Deathshroud (not all of them, but some). It would be very counter intuitive to have a trait that turns our fear into a heal when our most reliable fear is used from Deathshroud, where you can’t be healed.
On the subject of Dolyak runes, I feel the 6pc health regen is a bit wasted on us. We can’t be healed in Deathshroud, so the heal is less useful for necros.
Hello,
My GW2 client has been constantly crashing (with the gw2 error report popping up) since the last hotfix patch. I’ve ran diagnositics on my system and came up with no errors. I’ve also attempted running the “repair” feature for GW2, and even resorted to an entire uninstall/reinstall last night. This error seems to occur more when I’m loading into Lion’s Arch, but I’ve also hit a crash while in small pvp matches.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to fix this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. My error log is attached to this thread.

I’ve been thinking this for a long time. Outside of the realistic fact that blood is primarily composed of water, I know the devs have mentioned that there’s too many light fields in the game. As a result, they’re having a hard time balancing the amount of up-time retaliation has in big fights. While changing this one skill certainly wouldn’t resolve that problem, I think it would be a good start
I too used to run all Rabid gear but have recently started using some pieces of Carrion in WvW. I’ve also switched over to using the Carrion amulet in sPvP with Geomancy Sigils.
Given the relative weakness of Barbed Precision (which is an oversight in my opinion), going for precision over power doesn’t make sense. Sure, Sigil of Earth is great (and I still keep my crit at a good level, around 40% for WvW) but it’s not worth sacrificing raw power damage for the chance at a proc. Furthermore, since AoE cleanses are quite common in WvW, having a bit more power damage is great for assisting when there’s four million Guardians on the other side of the zerg.
All in all, I’m sure the damage difference is minor and it all comes down to playstyle. I’ve found a lot of success in running all-stat jewelry with a mix of Rabid and Carrion across the rest of my gear.
I’d be glad to help. I’ve been playing a Corruption Conditionmancer since launch and am currently sitting at about 1k hours played on him. I’ve also played every main point of the game (PvE/WvW/sPvP) but I definitely focus more on WvW/sPvP.
Echoing what War Mourner said, it definitely works. If you haven’t noticed it proccing, it may be because you’re using another “on crit” proc sigil on your mainhand dagger. “On crit” sigils all share an internal cooldown, so if you’re using one with a higher chance to proc (Ex: Sigil of Earth gives bleed chance on a 60% chance off crits), you’re likely limiting yourself in that regard.
Sigil of Rage isn’t the best option for a dagger necro, but it’s a decent cheap alternative to some of the better ones.
If they moved Axe Training out of Master, it would most certainly have to be toned down (Maybe +10% Damage and 20% Cooldown Reduction?). Having both Axe Training and Close To Death (in it’s current form) might put axe damage over the top. The #2 can already reach respectable damage with the right spec and gear.
From my own testing, I’ve found that it doesn’t take as much trait commitment as some people are stating here. This is what I’ve been using:
10 Points in Spite (10% Condition Duration)
20 Points in Soul Reaping (50% Fear Duration)
Full Necro Rune Set (+20% Fear Duration)
With just those three, I am getting 2 ticks of terror in sPvP. I have noticed something that’s strange, though. If I attempt a fear with no conditions on the target, terror only ticks once. However, if I’ve got at least one condition on the target, I’ll successfully get 2 ticks of terror. Not sure why this is the case, but that’s what I’ve seen after testing with Golems for awhile.
It should be noted that without the 10 points in Spite, I was unable to get more than one tick of terror damage, conditions or not.
