It was not auto applied, my luck is 0%. And my mail seems to be empty (I got some birthday gifts when I logged in, but that was it).
Since luck is account wide, which character would they have sent it to? I haven’t logged in to check all my chars mail…
I purchased this account on launch day, but never really had much time to play. After reading the Luck wiki…
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Luck
“Accounts that existed prior to the introduction of account-wide magic find on September 3, 2013 were granted enough Essence of Luck to increase their base magic find to 20%, i.e. 2,500 luck”
Where do I collect this 2500 luck? I hadn’t logged in for a couple years, and didn’t notice anything in the mail…
This account was purchased on launch day, and I read somewhere that all accounts registered before a certain date would get a free character slot. I ended up getting the one free character slot that was included in the hot ultimate edition, but have yet to receive my second free slot. I have also yet to receive any gems.
I made the purchase in game, and it said ‘no further action was needed’.
Thanks for any help!
Just coming back to the game after a couple years, so forgive me if this has already been implemented, but – joypad support? This new mode sounds like it screams joypad.
Anyone confirm/deny? Action mode was kinda the one thing I was most excited for. If this feature is going to be delayed I think I may hold of purchasing the expansion.
I saw there is a new ‘action camera mode’ that was teased in the last Guild Chat, but they didn’t really mention any release date. Can anyone confirm this new mode will be available with the new expansion on Friday?
Thanks!
Oh I’m sure my hardware is up to the task. Gigabit wired network and intel i7s will be driving both machines.
So you have experience running ultra VNC? Any settings I need to look for? I also heard about “TurboVNC”, is that better/worse for game streaming?
So no console gamers here huh? Or maybe you guys just don’t have a nice home theater setup. Splitscreen on one big tv is nice, I’m currently looking at UltraVNC, has anyone been able to get it to stream a game? Steam is doing it with their games now, it must be possible..
How would lugging a second pc and monitor around be easier? And it would defeat the purpose of couch coop. I only have the one big tv (and nice sound system) in the living room.
On a second account obviously.
I’m thinking the best way to do it is to run the second gw2 instance on a second pc, and stream it to the main monitor via vnc. I have seen videos of people streaming 720p games with low enough latency to be playable. Anyone have any experience?
I have a powerful pc hooked up to a large projector, and I play GW2 using a gamepad. I know it’s possible to run two instances of GW2 side by side, but how could I control both windows (with two separate game pads) for coop splitscreen play?
I cant be the only person who would like to play GW2 on the couch side by side with a friend. There must be someway to make it possible?
Thanks for any help!
Why no response from the devs? This is simply first person mode… Perhaps one of the most common features in any game like this. We’re talking about changing one variable, to allow the camera to zoom in just a tad more (and just hiding the player model/spell effects if you want to be lazy).
“We think that part of having this personal story and having a strong attachment to your characters, is being able to see your characters and feel a bond with them, having an attachment to them.”
I’m sorry, but to use that as an excuse for why there is no first person OPTION has to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. You could just as easily argue that not being able to go into first person DETACHES you from your character.
The only real reason I can think of for why this hasn’t been done already – it would look really silly to add it now after all this time. It would be like announcing in the patch notes – “GW2, now in FULL COLOR! .. LIKE EVERY OTHER GAME ON THE PLANET!”.
And can we stop discussing the details on how it would be implemented? This is just first person mode, were not launching rockets to the moon. This is a SOLVED PROBLEM.
So… Devs you out there?
So still not a single reason why this has not been implemented…
Come on anet you don’t want to look incompetent do you?
Hah never heard that… I would be curious to hear their reason now.
People would start to use it, people would complain that they can’t see anything because of all the particle effects and suddendly this small option becomes a new project for the team again.
You HAVE to be an anet developer, because what you just said makes no flipping sense. If they are capable of ignoring people now, they will be capable of ignoring people later.
WoW lets you zoom in all the way, and just hides your character model. It’s like that in most games. If it’s easier to play in third person, people will just continue using third person. The universe will NOT explode, promise.
Personally, I’m rather attached to my characters, such that I like to see their models, so not having FP doesn’t bother me at all.
If you don’t like first person, stay in third person. Problem solved.
Come on anet, implement first person mode already!
*edit – Correction, do nothing, because it’s already implemented, and there is no implementing involved. Just flip a switch next patch. Thanks!

Its already in the game as a developer feature, they just disable it for users.
mind blown
That would be like if they disabled the ‘strafe left’ key for no reason. It’s in the game, it works, it costs nothing to enable it, but I think we’ll leave it as a developer only feature just cause.
If anyone can explain a “technical reason” they can’t figure out how to do a first person camera, I will crap my pants. You put the same 3rd person camera at eye level, and hide the player model. One junior programmer could bang this out in a few minutes.
With the coming HMD revolution (oculus rift) it would be really cool if this game had a first person mode like every other mmo on the planet.
Could we please just zoom the camera in slightly more, and hide the player model? Such a beautiful game, it’s tragic that we don’t have the OPTION to move around in first person (you can stay 3rd person if you want).
There was a mod that allowed for first person…
But they patched it…

Is it me or is there no way to rotate the map in arena? You can when you’re out in the world, but not in arena (possibly dungeons too?). It makes it a bit easier to see where you are in relation to your allies.
Seems like a simple implementation, since it already works great in other areas of the game.
Seriously, its been long enough. If you have not picked up your reserved name by now, you are unlikely to miss it.
Please at least let us know WHEN you plan to do this!
Thanks!
