Face it, the naga razer is the only thing that makes this class bareable

I use the Razer Death Adder. I used to have a Logitech, but the I ran into problems with the cord where it enters the mouse. It kept disconnecting during play (something I later found out is common with Logitech’s thin cords).
As to Engineers, I couldn’t imagine playing one without the ability to switch kits using my thumb buttons. I have my Grenade and Bomb kits mapped to the 3 and 4 buttons.
This is great in combat, but really nice during travel because I can easily swap kits and keep up a 33% speed boost via Speedy Kits. It’s not quite as good as having a mount, but it’s the best I can hope for in GW2 right now.
I run Bombs/Grenades. My build is similar to the OP’s except I put 10 points into Tools instead of Alchemy for the really nice Speed Boost. I also take Grenade Range for my Grandmaster skill in Explosives.
I’m always amazed that I can run right through enemy zergs without drawing much attention. They are so focused on my zerg that they don’t notice high power bombs dropping all around them.
As to stats… I go with as much Power as I can get. All other stats are secondary. I don’t sweat Vitality or Toughness too much because I will be easily burned down if focused. I try to move quickly and constantly to avoid that happening.
I think by arching he’s talking about keep assaults, not keep defenses. Assaulting a keep, you can GTAOE the edge and hit people all over the parapets. Nice damage too with a Power build.
Grenades work well for me in PVP. Most battles are standoffs or standoff/displace. When we have someone in full retreat, I switch to rifle. When we are withdrawing, I switch to bombs and leave a trail as I run.
As to mortar, I switched over the Charrzooka. The mortar was just an excuse for people to attack me. I love the Charzooka’s #5 in a siege. Still, I am considering just giving it all up for a Supply Drop.

I love the animation. It’s one of the things that first drew me to the game, when I saw Charr running in a WVW trailer.
My problem is that I’m an Engineer with Speedy Kits. So I switch to kits a lot for the speed boost. When I do, my Charr runs on two legs. So, I WANT the 4-legged animation but I can almost never actually have it.
I primarily use Grenades and Bombs in PVP. It can be surprisingly effective. This build seems to work for me (you will have to copy and paste because clicking just gives a “Bad Link” error message):
Basically it’s max Explosives (grenade ranges, +10% explosive damage, bigger radius), max Inventions (Bombs heal, +10% movement, added Toughness/Healing) and 10 into Tools for Speedy Kits (33% movement almost constantly by just swapping Bomb Kit and Grenade Kit).

I use Rocket and Healing. Sometimes I will use Rifle if I know it’s going to be a static fight and I don’t want to use one of my regular kits.
Rocket and Rifle are marginally useful DPS additions. Healing is slightly better than other Engineer heals. Nothing else is worth the slot.
Grenades/bombs are the way to go, IMO. If ANet wants us to use static turrets over mobile kits, they need to really up the damage and survivability of turrets.
ArenaNet is going to have to add meaningful individual (and, I hope guild) rewards to WVW.
Sandbox play is fun short term. Serverwide bonuses are fine. But it you don’t provide individuals with personal motivation to go take that keep for the 14th (or 400th) time, then you’re going to see the number of people in WVW begin to spiral downward.
I agree that DAOC had the best system. If ANet doesn’t have something like that in development, they need to start it today.
Not a bug per se but definitely an issue…
When you take down one world for maintenance, you really need to either disable WVW or take down the other two worlds in that group’s match.
Last night you took down Jade Quarry for more than an hour. One of our opposing worlds remained up and took advantage of the opportunity to retake all of the borderlands while we were completely unable to defend or counterattack. Not a nice thing to find when you log back on after maintenance.
Not sure if this is a bug or a “feature.” It seems that zoning is knocking people out of the WVW queue. You also do not seem to be able to queue from an overflow zone. So as things stand, to queue for WVW you need to:
1) Enter a zone.
2) Wait to exit overflow.
3) Queue for WVW.
4) Wait an hour or more without zoning (at least on my home server) for a WVW queue to open for you.
Does that match everyone’s experience? Is it a bug or a feature?
