Ecto salvaging?

2 weeks ago I went through an Ecto dry spell where one day I broke down about 19 rares for 2 ecto. Last week I went through an incredible turnaround where I first got a total of 9 exotics in 1 day and I broke down a total of 60~ rares for about 80 ecto.

It resets every week on Saturday at the same time as the reset for dailies for American Players. For me that is 8:00 PM EST currently or 5:00 PM PST

2/week per mission type (except for trek which gives 0). Account bound so changing servers (by guesting or gem transfer) or characters will have no effect.

I would infuse it first, then put the charr backpack skin over it just to be safe and avoid buying another charr backpack skin.

It does not make a large difference due to the cooldown of the earth sigil. Superior sigil of earth is a 60% proc chance every 5 seconds.

Legendaries and Arah: a modest proposal

After my second Arah run with members of my guild, I’m up to a grand total of 3 Arah tokens. This is from a combined 9 hours in that kittening dungeon.

Since the first run I have upgraded my gear to a mix of rares & exotics, w/ upgrades continuing towards full exotics. I have a nearly complete set of ‘survival’ jewelry to swap in for higher Armor & Vit on boss fights (looks at Lupicus). Didn’t make a kittening difference.

All of this said (& pages of potential frustrated ranting unsaid), I’m not here to suggest that Arah be retuned. Let the top tier, hardcore players have their dungeon! It’s just as important for them to enjoy the game as any of the rest of us, & this is probably the only spot left in the game that could really serve that purpose.

What I would propose, however, is that the token portion of the two Legendaries which require Arah, Bifrost & the spear, be moved to another dungeon. This would provide a more equitable difficulty between all of the Legendaries.

For comparison:

3 hours in CoF with guild group: 198 tokens.
Tokens/hour: 66.
Projected play time to complete 500 tokens: 7.58 hours

I ran story mode & all 3 CoF paths last weekend w/ my guild – so the same group of casual gamers could run CoF once a night, 5 times a week & have the 500 tokens needed in less than 2 weeks.

9 hours in Arah with guild group: 3 tokens
Tokens/hour: 1/3
Projected play time to complete 500 tokens: 1,500 hours

So the actual calendar time to finish this portion would be kittening long. I can’t even dedicate enough time to do an Arah run except on Sundays, sometimes Saturdays; there is no way I can get through the 3-4 or more hours needed for our casual group on a weeknight (& that’s just to get to Lupicus & wipe a few times there before calling it, & hope oh HOPE to get a few bonus tokens before then – got ZERO for the 5 hour investment yesterday).

So… Bifrost is approximately 200 times better than any other Legendary (& note that’s just the play time, not calendar time)? o_0

I understand that Legendaries are not an ‘every player should have one’ item – but as it stands, I CAN earn every Legendary except Bifrost & that spear just continuing on w/ my guild. I doubt there’s a plan to move all of the tokens to Arah, so the alternative to provide an equitable difficulty would be to move the tokens for Bifrost & the spear to other dungeons.

(P.S. Yes we’ve read guides, yes we have people who’ve gotten past Lupicus before, & really how the KITTEN do people dodge every single thing as the answer to Lupicus; is there a hack being used to have an ever-full endurance bar or what?!)

GL is one of the hardest bosses in this game and requires some knowledge to beat. I highly recommend you and your group to do some extra research into specifically dodging GL’s moves. I know you said you have READ guides, however I find reading to be very different from doing the actual event (this is common sense). It would be a much better idea to watch videos, especially the solo videos for GL put out by others.

That being said, 3 tokens in 9 hours is extraordinarily bad. Also, many of your comparisons are not accurate. I seriously doubt Anet wanted you to farm the 500 tokens in a day regardless considering the path to making a legendary is on the scale of months for the majority of people. Cof is really 130~ tokens for path 1 and 2 everyday, which takes approximately 30 minutes or less for even pug groups. Arah Path 2 and 3 should take a semi-competent group approximately 2-3 hours to complete both paths, for a total of 130~ tokens as well.

If I were you, I would concentrate on first gearing your character (full exotics / ascended) and learning to play it well. I am pretty tired of watching these trash players with legendary weapons running around.

You could just run further away from the action. If you didn’t drop combat and were all alone in the middle of nowhere then maybe I would say there was a problem.

If we had a drop combat button that would be heavily abused for WP ressing and simply escaping from combat when you are low, denying everyone a kill.

Ascended & Runes/Sigils?

IMO I think the best route is normal ascended armor with a regular slot for sigils/runes. Then allow for the option to mystic forge your ascended eat into an infused edition for 5 AR on the armor/weapon. If you think about it, 6 armor pieces infused would already give +30AR which is nearly double current AR cap. On weapons, infusions will be 10 AR on 2handed and 5pm single. This means with full ascended I hope to get around 100 AR. 30 armor60 accessories+10 weapon(s).

I did 10 with 0 AR and was fine, even at maw.
At level 20 FotM you will fully die without 15+ AR at maw
At level 30 you will fully die without 25+ AR
At 40 you will fully die with any amount of AR (takes about 3 ticks to get downed)
At 50 you will die with any amount of AR and heal combo (1 tick down, 1 tick dead)

This can vary though depending on whether or not you are healing specced or if your group is healing specced.

Are you saying asking for 15-20 AR is a bad thing for groups at 20+ FotM? I believe that if you do not have 15+ AR you shouldn’t run 20+ at all b/c with 5 you die at maw and 10 you die as well unless you heal (in which case you go down).

Hi!

I been wondering what to roll for some time now, and after discarding Ranger, Engineer mostly for all that bad i keep hearing abaut them. and because ranger feels so boring. Engineer is simply missing the weapon selection of normal weapons, that can obtain skins to, and are not kits.

I was thinking or going back to my Mesmer. Though i still didnt fully accepted the theme of the character, with all that sparkle, and fluff, instead of the indepth dark feeling, like it had in Gw1, i could get over it. If it is worth it.

Atleast the class seems a bit underplayed, compared to Ranger and Warrior. And does have a synergy with its own skills and traits and builds, unlike Necro.
Though i kind of miss some sort of bow or a rifle, instead of pistol,, and unsure how to put out some direct damage, but i dont really even care for that right now.

What i want to know is : Is Mesmer viable in Fractals? Or for Runs?
I keep hearing, that runs are quite different from normal dungeon pugging.

I heard many opinions, but nothing basically asknig this directly.

I am only currently at fotm 15 so Idk about higher difficulties, but from my experience so far mesmer can easily run fractals and dungeons with no difficulties. I rarely ever die in fractals even when the group is only semi-competent. Dungeons… that really depends on the group once again. All in all, mesmer is a class with amazing survivability that is also able to deal great dps.

Healing Skill - Mirror

Mirror is best used if you are fighting a boss that uses ranged skills a lot. A lot here meaning that you are unable to survive with dodge evades and feedback already. I have personally never seen a purpose to using mirror yet in game as Ether Feast is simply far more amazing.
