Thief is very solid in PvP if you’re good, as it almost always has been. Huge detriment to your team if you’re bad. But the best teams usually run a thief. For PUGs its a very solid choice unless you get a bunch of thieves on one team.

Edit: Mesmer is in a comparable position to thief, just more utility and less mobility. Ele is pure bunker or healing in PvP/WvW. Pure damage in PvE ironically.

No PvE tier list, just play what’s fun for you. Some people might post one but it’s not for your tier and even then barely applicable.

Gear up by playing the latest living story stuff, they will give you ascended gear, also the next PvP rank season will give you a full set of ascended armor (after enough games). If none of that interests you you can eventually craft ascended armor just by getting enough money doing anything you want.

Edit: Dungeons and karma give really really cheap exotic gear if you don’t have that.

How about PvP ? I was actually a thief main back in the day, now i am torn between sticking with Thief or go either Mesmer or Elementalist. Note that I will be mostly solo Roaming in WvW and will be mostly doing SPvP. I do love to dish out alot of dps or burst dps

Hello! I am bought HoT and the last time i played GW2 was back in march Feb 2015, its a long time. Now I am thinking of getting back into the game and lol information ovverload. Can y’all like guide me through like how to gear up to ascended quality/ how to acquire ascended gear, how is PvE, is there any PvE tier list for classes etc.

Do you have much experience with Fractals and Dungeons? Because the “go-to” PvE builds are typically all about damage and not very forgiving to play for newer players.

Anyway, for your situation I’d recommend 5/6/0/3/0 while wielding Sword + Pistol most of the time. Remember that Black Powder is the single best asset a Thief brings to any party as it provides him and everyone near him with nigh impunity to melee damage against all but champion mobs.

The 15 points in Acrobatics are there for the added HP, which is a little more forgiving, and the generous dodges provided by Feline Grace. They aren’t really needed, strictly speaking, but they give you a lot of wiggle room if you’re less experienced.

Most of the time however you will just be using Black Powder every 4 seconds and auto-attacking.

I am have a good amount of exp with dungeons and fractals! I use me my s/d 2/0/0/6/6 spec in fractals and my team so far never had a prob with me but I just want to be more efficient

I decided to go and make my Incinerator, but I don’t have the precursor and mainly I am a WvW player. I have all everything Except some more obsidum shards, t6 mats and most importantly the Precursor. Since the only good way to make gold is by doing dungeons besides playing with Tp (which i never understood how to do). So I’ll be doing PvE like fractals and dungeons alot espically fractals and hence I am looking for a thief pve build to help me out. Looking Forward to all ur answers

I love to solo roam in wvw with my thief doing 1v1s or 1vX fights i always have fun. Then i will also like to disengage or escape when i see a zerg or see to many players headed my way. Recently I love playing an Ele and I would like to see or know a build which can solo Roam pretty well in wvw. I will be look forward for the build all the ele Players will be putting forward.

Hi, I came back to the game after a month’s break and my guild broke up and also my server is like a ghost town. So I want to move to a server where i can solo roam or go as a small group roaming. I’ll be eagerly waiting for everyone’s replies.

What is the benefit to running a hybrid spec compared to straight power?

Ur way more tanky and ur BS deal like a zerker so there is no more risk of being too much sqishy. U have 3k armor and can deal damage like a zerker

Well, D/D is getting a big shot in the Dec 10th patch. I am not gonna complain and cry about it as theres nothing i can do. I’ll just say the theif was the class that explained my whole playstyle and i had the most fun with this class. Well i just have to get the most of my theif before Dec 10th since this will completely destroy 0/30/30/10/0 builds.So yeah thx anet for lettin me having this epic time with my theif. I might switch to another class tho i don’t like other classes playstyle or basically i am gonna leave the game. Heh some of you guys may think i am just overreacting to this patch and at one point i do agree, its just too sad for me to see the nerf and to see my fav playstyle dead and also guys i am not a perma stealth theif. My engi reached lv 80 , and its my alt so i was looking for a good roaming or abt 5ppl roamin build. I rly have no clue abt engis but i rly like the class and want to learn abt it. Ignore these people saying that if you hate levelling, you’ll hate the game post-80. It’s simply not true.
I have 6 level 80s, the last four of which I’ve hated levelling, but absolutely adored playing when they’ve got to 80 with full exotic gear, all traits and skills unlocked.
Prior to 80, you can’t really play the game properly; your character is critically kitten
You can kind of play with builds, but they feel restricted without having access to everything you have at 80. The fun at 80 is mastering your character and knowing that you’ve unlocked all of the tools necessary to do so.
Levels are only in this game because the majority of the userbase don’t have the imagination to play a game without them.

As for speed-levelling, crafting is the way to go. I’d say aim for half and half: 40 through world mapping, 40 through crafting.
It gets easier to level with crafting the more characters you have, as you’ll be acquiring more resources.

While levelling through mapping, try to stick to event-rich areas. Harathi Hinterlands is an excellent place for this with the ongoing centaur war that means there are always long, rewarding event chains to join. Iron Marches has a similar event chain.

Do not dismiss the ability to level in low-end areas either. While you won’t quite be getting the same amount of XP as in level appropriate areas, you’ll be able to complete events quicker and easier, so it evens out.

The other benefit here is that GW2 is somewhat front-loaded. They poured a lot of effort into starter zones so as to hook people early, so you’ll find a wide variety of interesting things to do there. Caledon Forest for example has FOUR jumping puzzles, as well as the Jungle Wurm event chain.

Hello Every1 ! I need help in PvE when i play thief. I know thiefs r squishy. I was playin my personal story its recommended lv was 6 and i was lv 9 i faced this npc and kept on dyin there. Also when like 3-4 mobs come at me i can barely survive. I need ur help guys.

Welcome to the thief community! If you are looking for a burst build the most common build is the 25/30/0/0/15 glass cannon no survivability build. It’s a decent build if you run with a group as you can stay back and burst one of the bunkers or another glassy build very well. I run a build that had very strong burst damage with more survivability with blinds and heavy stealth usage. I run 1/30/30/0/0 dagger dagger and shortbow build. It’s a very strong build if you like an aggressive twitch based playstyle. Utilities are signet of shadows for mobility, shadow refuge for general play healing and stealth (bilinding powder is better for dueling though), and shadow step for stun breaking or condi clearing. It’s an incredibly strong 1v1 build, but I have to admit dagger pistol is still the king of 1v1. When I have a computer I’ll post a link to the exact build I use, but it’s fully zerk, so hope you have nice reaction times

1. Forget main vs alts. I have both warrior and guard at 80, I like them both.
2. They are different classes with little comparison to make one over the other apart from pvp.
3. They mainly compare in that they are both easy to level.
4. Both are worth having, play both classes.

Hi guys, I love doing PvE and Dungeons and i always like playing heavy Armored characters and i did love playing both warriors and guardians. I love the fact the guardians can survive most situations while dealing average dmg. I also the warriors they can kill the target quickly and deal amazing dmg. I TRULY LOVE BOTH THESE CLASSES. SO now i am on holidays and i would like to update the game. I nstalled the game and the size was 13.5 gb.
