The necromancer class is a joke right?

For those asking, “Terrormancer” is a name currently given to a particular type of necromancer PvP build that makes use of the trait terror. The playstyle is based around chaining fears together to lock down and finish off injured opponents.

Racial skills

It wasn’t covered in the stream as far as I’m aware, do we have any information on the status of racial skills in the new system?

I’m sure it’s been asked already, but here’s another person who wants to know what will happen to racial skills in the changes. Please can this get answered in the show at some point?

Send a support ticket and explain what happened. They’re usually pretty good about helping players out in situations like this.

Pre-existing characters and hero points

So, what happens to characters who’d already unlocked every skill and trait in the game?
How about people who had 100% map completion and had done every skill challenge?

Do all characters start off with everything locked and a number of hero points equivalent to the things they’ve already done to earn them? That seems most likely from what we know so far.

short story: we don’t know; we’ll have to wait for more details to find out

These “more details” will be coming tomorrow in the Points of Interest stream to answer questions about the new system. This question seemed like an important one to be answered in the show, so I asked it on the forums where Anet can see it.

Hi Chris, I was fortunate enough to check the instance in question that I mentioned to you about and it seems that the Greatest Fear portion of the story A Light in the Darkness is kept intact. No removals, no nothing. It was only modified on the Story Journal itself, which I still think sucks but nonetheless, I can confirm that the PS was not cut in anyway, shape or form.

Awesome Malkavian I really appreciate the info. Leah is looking into it and we will update when we have more info.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, at least some of us are definitely finding that the Greatest Fear arc is completely missing. I played through the entire story from scratch myself to check and found it missing, so I can confirm that it was in fact cut for at least some people. Do we have any idea yet of whether this was intentional?

Thanks for the fix, it’s great to see emotes working in a sensible way again!

Agreed, having the names show up twice is very annoying for RPers. Being able to click the names is certainly a new feature, but it doesn’t make up for the fact that say and emote are pretty much the same now.

Megaservers and RP

Today was the first time I heard about role playing. I wanted to try it out, so I went to the Piken server but wasn’t sure what to do. Is there a specific city that’s commonly used for interaction?

Divinity’s Reach is most commonly used. Try the Taverns there, there’s usually people about.

There’s plenty of RP elsewhere, but it’s harder to direct you towards.

It’s not hard to get involved, just take a look at what others are doing, decide how you’re going to play your character and jump in!

Feedback/Questions: Town clothes, Costumes, & Combat

Allow me to jump on the bandwagon of roleplayers who are unhappy with the current changes. Town clothes provided us with some great variety of non combat items that we won’t be able to get with the new system that doesn’t let us mix and match pieces.

Are the Dragons weakening magic?

in Lore

Angel and others have stated that magic in Tyria has been growing in strength and variety over time due to magic leaking from the dragons, and the fact that they were not around to consume the excess, and that this is what has caused a breakdown in the bloodstone schools from GW1. Now that the dragons are awake, however, and are starting to consume the magic once more, does this mean that magic in the world is growing weaker and more restrictive again? If so, is it doing so at a rate that would be noticeable?

Error Code 26:11:5:506

I’m connecting to GW2 from a university network, which has always worked perfectly fine before and now isn’t, giving me a 26:11:5:506 error when I try to log in. I’d assumed that this was due to the IT folks blocking ports and messing things up as they are wont to do, but when I ran the -diag on GW2 I can’t find any evidence of blocked ports. Specifically that section looks like this:

As far as I know this means the university aren’t interfering with what I can access, so can anyone either tell my that I’m wrong, or explain any other reason why I might be getting this error?

They’ve already said that they’re fixing this, we just won’t get it until the end of January.

As much as I appreciate how hard it can be to change something seemingly simple like this, I really wish they’d give it to us a bit sooner. This is a fix to make fractals playable (in my opinion at least), not extra content we should need to look forward to in the future.
