Who's E and what happened to Braham's gf?

I think E is short for Ed, who is some minor unnamed NPC in the middle of noplace who has played no part in any story so far but will soon be exposed as the brilliant mastermind E.

A lot of people hating ESO based on the buggy old BETA build they played, talking about how it will go FTP based on nothing but wishful thinking or spite. It really feels like it will be a great game. The crafting blows GW2 crafting out of the water, the immersion factors (the story, the voice acting (Oh, the voice acting!), the super clean UI) are all very strong. For those of us who don’t care about a sub fee (and there are a lot of us) it has a lot to offer. I have been playing GW2 steady since beta, and it is a great game in many respects, but I will be going to ESO and am looking forward to it. I will still drop in every so often, which is the best thing about GW2 that I can do that.

People! Our great city of Lion’s Arch is being destroyed by the forces of evil and all we can do is whine about being mildly inconvenienced in our crafting? What about the children?

How do you feel about GW2 right now?

Generally I love the game. But, having switched from LOTRO to GW2 at launch, I recently went back and played some LOTRO (for the first time since switching) and was struck by a few things. GW2 absolutely blows LOTRO away in graphics, in every aspect of combat, the hearts are much better than the old-style quests, and doesn’t require nearly the same level of grinding for necessary gear. However, the big things I miss are the social aspects of the game. LOTRO has music you can play, community events, probably 20 times more emotes, mounts, capes, and the best Lore in the business. If I can find a game with as good of combat and graphics as GW2, and the depth and social functions of LOTRO, I would gladly pay a subscription fee for that. Now I am waiting to see TESO in April.

Map Completion - Metrics on Player Anger?

Well, since I had gotten all the WvW maps complete before I even hit 50% World Completion I guess I am not on the same page as the OP here. What really bugged me was when I thought I was done, had everything on every map including WvW and it was only 99%! Had to google and find the few “hidden” spots that I had missed that you can’t see from the Map view. Now that was frustrating!

A lot of people seem to be really afraid of the WvW maps, talking about how hard it is. For me, the Gifts of Exploration and of Battle are the only parts of my Legendaries I even have yet. Or will have for some time still.

Remove the Jumping Puzzle achievement

I actually like the JP’s in WvW. They follow the same principle as the rest of WvW, that you may be able to sneak in and do it if unattended but you may need to bring a group and fight for it if the opponents are defending it. Surely taking 5 minutes to do a jumping puzzle is a drop in the bucket considering some of the other achievements for the League season.

It’s what I did, and it feel like a good portion of my server did. I just wish Teq had real difficulty instead of the artificial difficulty of a high health pool. This had made me lose what little faith I had left in the Live Team. At this point we should just let the people who like artificial difficulty do what they want, while the rest of us trickle to other games.

Seriously, you may be the first person to imply it is not difficult enough. Lots of things that 1-hit you, waves to avoid, tons of adds to fight, multiple mechanics to master, and requiring amazing levels of organization and communication is not real difficulty? Of course it will also have a massive health, cuz’ after all it is an Elder Dragon, but there is a lot more to it than a basic tank ’n spank that just takes too long.

The thing here is that 99.99% of the people posting don’t understand what the problem is because it doesn’t negatively impact them; in fact helps them quite a bit. The .01% of people who find it to be important enough to spend huge amounts of gold and time to complete their crafting recipe list got royally screwed. No, they don’t lose any concrete items or the ability to do anything other than look at their full list, but they lost something important to them. Obviously there were no extreme completionist developers or they would have thought of this, but just because that list is useless and unimportant to most people does not mean it is not important to some people. I feel for the people who lost that time and gold, even though for me and the overwhelming majority of players ANet did a good thing for us and was clearly trying to be nice and helpful.

Quartz crystals Question

Hmm, I had 131 Quartz Crystals, went to a place of power and it let me convert 25 to 1 charged quartz crystals, but now the other 106 I have taken to several points and it just says “you have gained all you can from this place of power”. Can you only do 1/day? Or is it bugged somehow?

So I have been playing GW2 pretty much exclusively since beta, and I decided to try something else out. Went back into LOTRO (my game before GW2), and downloaded Rift now that it has gone F2P, and I couldn’t enjoy playing either one. Kept wanting to dodge, and to move around without getting error messages that I can’t use that skill while moving. GW2 is not perfect, just as no other game ever has been, but for me it has the best combat system and the least gear grinding of anything I have played.
People complain that there is nothing to do after 80, and not enough new content, and I have to shake my head. Anet releases their new content a bit at a time rather than in massive expansions that they charge for, but there has been at least a full expansion’s worth of new content released so far, and the rate is accelerating. I love GW2, and I like the direction Anet has taken with the Living Story. Also, I am excited that all those Achievement Points will finally be good for something!

Ticket Merchant NPC not working for me

So I go to the new Ticket Merchant NPC to trade in my 3 Tournament Tickets, with them in my inventory, and his only dialogue option is “No, thanks”. Tried on 3 different characters, including the one who originally got them, no luck. I have a screenshot of the dialogue and the inventory including them. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

Great idea! Because of the relatively small UI there is plenty of room for a fixed location, and that would really help in the thick of battle when there is so much going on on-screen.

Social things to do in town

I love GW2!

But, I find I really miss the social aspects other more mature MMO’s have in them. For example, in LOTRO they have a great music system where people play instruments, and give concerts in town of music they have created, often as groups. They also have probably 20X as many emotes available to use, mostly with associated graphics. The emotes (and some instrument skills) were sometimes cash store items, or achievement rewards, and were always sought after. They also had many dances available, that you could learn during festivals or buy in the cash store. They really made a difference in the social cohesiveness and immersion of the game.

I would really love to see GW2 develop some more and better social non-crafting or group finding activities. Thanks for your consideration, and keep up the good work!

Just some suggestions to make the game better

Good points, but mostly valid at low levels. Once you level up a bit most of these issues go away.
1- Gold sink.
2- Agreed.
3- This is only true until you gear up better, then you will feel overpowered in low level areas. Also, is kind of the point to scaling down, so game will have some challenge to it no matter where you are.
4- Gold sink, making gold gets a lot easier as you level up higher..
5- Waypoints all over, and you get lots of traits or skills to increase speed as you level.
