Yeah, I find thief perma-stealth the most annoying of any bug in the game. During the afternoons I ended up running solo, but hey if I run into an enemy thief I can expect to not be able to see him the entire fight even in a 1v1.

I wish Anet would comment on this, since there have been several threads and either I have missed an Anet comment or they refuse to comment on this bug. Unfortunately, if they are not commenting on this bug its because they probably do not have a solution for the server lag+rendering issue that leads to perma-stealth.

It has been said that the ele downed state as well as main hand dagger skills are in for a re-work/revision.
I would find the exact quote from the dev, but I haven’t the time right now.

Uh, yeah I definitely would be interested in seeing that quote if you could find it. Ele downed state is the number one thing they need to fix about the class. I would say number two is our under water damage. Why are they reworking main hand dagger? I really enjoy main hand dagger and see nothing wrong with it… please tell me it wouldn’t turn into another nerf for the class….

30 points in Arcane Power can give you almost permanent Vigor, boons on every attunement swap, a blast finisher on each dodge and ~1.5k healing every ~10 seconds.
How can you spend 30 points to gain more than that?

All the reasons you mentioned are why I completely agree with you and disagree with OP. I don’t use staff very often though other than keep siege/defense where it isn’t as important to swap attunements as quickly so it may be OK with staff, but would kill D/D damage and might stacking.

One thing to mention though is even if you could swap through all the attunements with the default cool down, uh why would you do that? Attunement dancing is yes very vital to playing an elementalist, but if you’re going from air→fire→earth→water every rotation you’re doing it wrong. Attunements are situational and while yes for S/D and D/D it is good to start out with air→fire→earth, you don’t need water in every rotation and may need to swap to air or earth in an instant because your target starts running away and you need ride the lightning or to magnetic grasp them then earthquake.

This thread was originally posted under bugs, which it probably shouldn’t have been. I originally responded since another poster mentioned the WvW stealth bug. I understand you guys are trying to defend your class because you do not want to see nerfs, ok that is cool.

Can we at least agree that it is not intentional for thieves to be able to deal damage and stay invisible to enemy players almost constantly? Keep your damage if you’re a glass cannon, but not make it nearly impossible to defend against especially for melee characters because you cannot be seen? Bugs that give you an advantage should be addressed and if you can’t be successful without pretty much perma-stealth there may be a problem with your play style?

Although I agree entirely that thiefs need work, particulalrly HS spam and WvW rendering issues.

you will survive longer if you invest more in tough/vit. both through skillpoints and gear.

I haven’t gotten hit as hard as the OP, but I however have been hit for 5.5K steal and 9K backstab in a row. I run all toughness/vit gear, a mix of exotic light armor Knights and Armageddon. Damage may be a little high maxing toughness/vit as much as possible and still taking 14K+ dmg from two abilities. However, I do not mind the damage (which is more of a balancing issue) as much as the huge problem that is thieves and being practically perma-stealted ( or appearing so because of server lag/rendering bugs), which allows them to attack and stay invisible for entire fights.

Yeah what is the status of number 2 especially? This is ridiculous. Thieves can still burst you while they appear invisible while no other players are even around. I believe the cool down is 3 seconds before thieves can go back into stealth? I often roam around WvW solo and the majority of thieves I encounter are pretty much not even visible to me for half a second; because of this they are attacking while not being visible to enemy players and then just stealthing again. This should be a very very high bug on the priority list; perma stealth was taken away from thieves in beta for a reason, so please work on fixing this ASAP.

Stop trolling. You made the same post on reddit which got downvoted into oblivion; you created an account on reddit 4 hours ago just for that. You haven’t provided any videos or links to builds and your screen shot is a joke as your stats do not indicate you even running with exotic gear.

As mentioned by others in the reddit thread, three are plenty of other classes out there that can bunker extremely well. The majority of videos found out there for bunker classes pertain to gaurdian and engy. I understand ele can bunker, but other class can do it extremely well also. So please provide some evidence that shows the class can do it far better than guardian and engy and then maybe you’ll be taken seriously.
