Just want to know when I should bother trying this fight again, and the forum search doesn’t seem to do anything.

I was messing around previewing armors and I noticed this thing looks a lot like Zuko’s scar and I wanted to share this revelation.

I don’t have a human male or a free slot to make one in, but it’s still pretty noticeable on my Asura.

Hey Josh, I really appreciate you responding to and discussing with the players, it is really nice to see.

That said, and like everyone else has said, W2Z2 is just too hard and becomes frustrating. Instant kill deaths are totally fine in Tribulation mode, which I have actually been enjoying (except for disconnects not allowing you to get back in, that’s real bad), but I do not think they belong in normal mode. The arrow traps should do a heart, maybe two, of damage, but dying to them is just frustrating, unlike expected deaths in trib mode.

I have a friend who barely plays GW2 but he absolutely loved the first SAB and about a third of the way through, when we got to the fish temple, he just said he was not having any fun and couldn’t believe how hyped he was for the update, and I couldn’t really disagree with him, which is a real shame. Especially when we were doing the extremely tedious task of feeding the octopus. And it certainly did not help that he’d die, run out of lives, be booted out and rejoin us about fifty times. He is the kind of person who’d love this, except he was totally unwilling to go farm for continue coins and death is practically guaranteed at many spots.

What finally broke him was when we finally, at long last, beat z2 and got to z3. After the wall that was z2, to be told immediately in the next area “no, you cannot progress unless you have 400 baubles,” he just closed the game and went to bed. And it’s a shame, zone 3 is just as good if not better than all the stuff in world 1, but now he won’t see it because I don’t want to heckle him into doing something that has already burnt him so hard.

I have been enjoying the new world, and I am going to go for all the achievements in it, but I hope the next world is more like world 1/world2zone3. Slight mistakes should not result in insant death in normal mode, where it happens constantly in w2z1 and z2. And with the frequency of deaths and lack of lives on restarts (and ESPECIALLY that you can’t rejoin tribulation mode), the infinite continue coin does come across as a cash grab (but I bought it anyway lol).

Hoping that if crab toss isn’t permanent they at least keep it for an extra week or something so I can finish up the crab grabber title.

Mad Memoire Upgrades?

I’m just a little confused by this. My friend upgraded his book with the same jewel that he has in the back piece he got from the personal story at level 80, yet when I tried to do the same with a Fine Transmutation Stone I got an error message, and crafting my own Exquisite Ruby didn’t let me put it in the book.

Did he get a lucky bug or did they change it recently so that it can’t be upgraded the same as the personal story back? It’s a bummer, I’d love to use the book, but I don’t want to give up that extra 3% crit damage.

I got groups together specifically to do the non-farmy paths of CoF and SE before the patch, because I wanted to do it and have some fun

For the first CoF path, we were hit with an insurmountable brick wall of a final boss

For SE, we had fun, but still took an incredibly long time for very little pay off

I also did Honor of the Waves story with a group of friends and we had a miserable time

While I wouldn’t mind doing more dungeons, many of my friends are getting sick of them and already writing them off just because of the huge time sink and discouragingly obscene difficulty in the majority of explorables. And I definitely don’t want to do something this hard with a pug.

I would much much rather have bots be getting loot and items than to get none myself for actual play. The anti-farming system is unequivocally WORSE in every way than the problem it was designed to fix, and only punishes legitimate non-bot players.

I actually just read Robert’s post (just read the OP last time)

“3. I made the fireballs hurt more. Not greatly more – they’ll do about 3-4k damage to a DPS focused player, but you should have anywhere between 15k-25k HP, so there’s a bit of wiggle room for error.”

Dude are you serious with this? I have 12k hp at level 80, with 10 points in Water Magic. I could definitely have more vitality, yes, but I also have a good chunk of Toughness. I think your expectations for player stats are drastically out of line with what they really are. A DPS focused Warrior or Engineer or a class with some actual base health will be able to take a few hits, but the horribly base-statted Elementalist gets screwed even more.

If dungeons aren’t intended to be a grind, why exactly does it take over 50 runs to get a full armor set..?

Really confusing me here.

The game designers do not want you to do the dungeon over and over again in rapid period of time. Perhaps they want you to get the full armor set in, say, over 3 months of play, playing for a few hours a week. The rapid repeating penalty is probably to discourage players from rapidly doing a dungeon over and over. However, punishment is never a good answer, and thus the backlash from the player base, who doesn’t want to be punished.

tl;dr they want you to do the dungeon casually once in a while, not 9 times per day over a few days.

But the average run takes about an hour. So, you have to spend an hour running the same path, every day, for more than a month.

That’s insanely grindy.

Dungeons should be hard, and I’m happy with this change.

You all QQers need to adapt, that’s all.

Thank you Robert, and please ignore those people. Majority of them didn’t even played GW1, but as a GW1 vet I undestand your design approach and I fully agree

lol

I beat Slaver’s Exile on hard mode with H/H before you could even have a full hero party

This argument makes so little sense.

Nearly everybody was doing path 2 because it was fast and easy, we always had the option of doing 1 and 3, it goes to show that people didn’t want harder content so why go against the majority of the players? The real problem is still here: the repetitive grind.
Instead of making the rewards better you made this require way more effort for the same reward, bad solution (if it even counts as one).

Actually I tried to do path 1 once. The final boss on it is so absolutely hilariously overtuned. He spawns 25 Searing Crystals that have like 5k or so health, and each one gives him a stack of regen. He respawns them at LEAST every 15 seconds. And they also land on you and knock you back, with less than a seconds worth of time to dodge. Fun!

Okay I am just going to assume every responding to this thread hasn’t actually tried leveling an alt yet. Being required to do two starting zones per character is a chore. I was able to get around it for one alt thanks to the magic of cooking, but that’s gone now.

You guys are really adamant about this guy not getting his hat.

Narratively it’s a big choice, sure, but really being locked out of end-game armor skins because of a choice you make early on without possibly knowing the consequences (unless you look them up beforehand) is the kind of terrible old-fashioned meta-gaming that they should really have known better than to include. Especially considering by the end of your personal story you’re basically a kitten new god they should REALLY let you get other faction armor.

I feel complete opposite, you get exp for EVERYTHING you do, gathering and crafting give you ALOT. Later on at 50+ you will find yourself atleast 5 level ahead of teh area. Plus there are 4 other starter areas for the otehr races you can go to.

I really think they need to INCREASE the amount of exp needed to level so it would actaully be an accomplishment to gain a level. Id even say the amount needed to gain a level should be doubled

Yeah it’s kind of weird that I started out having trouble getting those first 30 or so odd levels, but then at some point I just shot above the zones I was in, and ended up totally skipping the 60-70 zones in favor of Straits of Devastation.

I’m not sure what it is, but it seems like the absolute worst experience grind in the game is while you’re in the 1-30 zones. I mean, I got my Engineer’s huntsman up to 100 and 50 Leatherworking, completed all of the Norn starting zone, and he’s only level 14. I don’t really want to play him now because I really don’t want to do another starting zone with him (I did 100% world completion and plan on leveling some alts), and don’t really want to go into the 15-25 zone. And this was with doing hearts that were 3 levels above me!

Should dungeons reward karma?

That would depreciate the amount of fun I receive from running said dungeon because it is considered a reward.

There are so many fanboys in this thread, it is truly ridiculous. I’m okay with people fighting and doing PvP in the jump puzzles, I mean, yeah, it’s a PvP zone. Camping where it is impossible for you to die just to screw other people should not be okay. They should add traps to the other side just to kill people who are camping. It sucks all the fun out of it to be going along and then haha oops I’m dead because there’s 6 guys camping in a spot with such a great advantage we’d need the entire server to attack at once.

Some of the best fun I’ve had in the game was trying to take the Lyssa temple in Malchor’s Leap for the skill point when there were only like 6 of us there

Or trying to take Arah with like 8 people

But now that Orr is overflowing with people it’s odd to not see everything taken, which isa huge bummer as a small group fighting to take and defend everything was a ton of fun
