Precursor Crafting Overpriced?

MoB and SoG cost more right now than they will in the future, because there’s new and there’s high demand for them. Dun worry about them.

The ascended mats are somewhat ridiculous though… do you even get an ascended item for the first tier?

Nope, the first tier is exotic quality.

The point is, “things you can spend money on” should not be a significant portion of the process at all. Any actual “crafting” elements should be more token gestures. The “base” staff should not have a higher material cost than, say, an Ascended staff, 6 Spiritwood planks instead of 35+1-0 Leather. Ideally it wouldn’t even take that, it would just be an exotic weapon using exotic mats.

The “costs” of producing it should be entirely in the unique challenges you undertake for the collection, and items that you earn specifically from those adventures. To craft a sword Precursor, you should not need to use enough base metal to craft an Iron Throne’s worth of swords. To make a Precursor staff, you should not need enough wood planks to build an entire pirate ship. The base mats should be about the same as any other weapon in the game, all that would be different is the need for various unique items, which could not be purchased or collected in bulk, you would just get ONE of these by completing ONE activity, and this is what elevates the item to Precursor status.

Exactly this, if they made the third tier this recipe it would have been ok, that would be finishing up your pre, but this absurd number of timegated mats for just the first tier? When the second tier collection is the one supposed to maintain the precursor’s price? Now that’s not ok.

You people have mistaken precursor crafting.

It’s not meant to be easier, cheaper and faster way. It’s a non rng way of gettingit.

But it shouldn’t be a harder, more costly, and slower way either. Otherwise why go for it this way?

Yes, I get that it should be roughly the same price, but this may be too extreme. If this is the price for the first tier alone, then I would honestly not want to do it. And if we go back to the livestream where they talked about precursor crafting in depth, they said that most of the time and money would be in the second collection, which gives the feeling that the price for just the first tier is less than 33% of the total cost of making a precursor.

EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION: I’m not saying it should cost nothing, just less than what it is, for example less shards of glory and memories of battle, and perhaps less Spiritwood too (100, 100, and 20 may be a better balance).

So I just finished my first precursor crafting collection for the precursor The Legend and finally got my recipe to craft the first tier precursor and found, to my dismay, that the recipe is way too overpriced. So what is required for the FIRST tier alone?

-35 Spiritwood Planks @ ~8g each (280g)
-10 Elonian Leather Square @ ~8g each (80g)
-200 Memories of Battle @ ~17.7s each (27.5g)
-200 Shards of Glory @ ~20.5s each (45g)

For a grand total of about 430g! For the first tier! Meanwhile The precursor itself costs about 1100g, so you’re paying the equivalent of 40% of the precursor’s price for one out of 3 tiers, plus anything else needed for the collections themselves.

You are much better off and can save both time and money by buying it right off the trading post. And even if you slowly build up these mats over time by doing pvp and wvw, why use them to build your precursor when you’ll get more out of them AND get your precursor faster by selling them to the trading post.

What is wrong with healing spring?

I actually like HS post-patch. You get the main heal when you lay down the trap then it won’t trigger unless you need health inside of it (or it should, Anet still has to fix it so you don’t have to leave the field then come back in to trigger it) the fact that condis don’t trigger it is meh, most of the time you have condis you’ve probably taken damage too. Yes they also have to fix it healing the pet, but now you can lay down this trap in advance, and start the CD, and then have the regen activate when you need it, while your heal might have like 5s of cooldown left for more heals and regen.

Edit: forgot to mention that, while stacking before a fight you could drop it and not mess up might stacks and get regen as you start taking damage. This, however, depends on the trap triggering when it’s supposed to.

The problem with unyeilding anguish

in Revenant

Posted by: Zenthieth.9431

Zenthieth.9431

I’ve heard a lot of people complain about unyeilding anguish and how it’s even worse than Ranger longbow 4 by constantly telephoning enemies caught in the field, and how it’s super trolley for melee fighters. But wait, this skill is for malyx… and malyx’s weapon is mace\axe, a melee weapon… Basically, anyone using malyx and mace would never use this skill unless perhaps they were hurt and want to get away or maybe heal up, but wouldn’t they change to ventari or Janis if this was the case? IMO this makes unyeilding anguish even worse.

Well, technically it is, through the portal gun bundle you can buy in the asura lab on the west side of timberline falls.

It would make sense if they did it to reduce stacking, but it makes that skill useless if you are by a wall at all. Also it’ll stop on a steep enough slope, I was testing that on the steps to arah during the event. Having the hammers be destroyed may be intended, but it doesn’t really work in the game.

Mallyx #4 Unyielding Anguish (aoe displace)

Zenthieth.9431

Yes Unyielding Anguish is very trolly, but the biggest problem with it right now is that it isn’t considered a push or anything else in the game right now. It bypasses anything that’s meant to make a foe immobile and ignores defiance.

What should be done isn’t make veterens and up immune, it should be to make it like guardian shield 5, when the field is first dropped it’s knocked back or teleported to the closest point outside the field and that’s that. After the foe should be allowed to walk back in without being teleported out. This will check a lot of the craziness that this skill is causing.

They WILL give the Revenant underwater weapons before HoT releases, otherwise it will be crippled as a class. TA, HotW, and the underwater fractal as well as world completion pretty much guarantees that it’ll get underwater combat.

The real question that should be asked is what about the legends? Will you be locked to just 2 that could be used underwater? Will they change how some legends work underwater? Ventari’s tablet in it’s current state could never work underwater. So the question shouldn’t be if anet will give Revenant underwater combat, it should be how would it work.

Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]

I honestly think that the base expansion not including a new character slot is fair. Sure, the old gw1 campaigns gave you 2 free slots, but they were stand alone. If you bought prophecies first that one gives you 6 while the others gave you 2 each.

That’s not how GW1 worked. The first game wasn’t the “core”, it was just the first campaign. Each campaign was independent and usable and come with 2 character slots. Also, each account gets for free 2 complementary slots by default.

So if you bought Nightfall alone, you’d get 4 slots. Then you buy Prophecies and you’d get 2 more slots for 0 new classes (cause all the Prophecy classes were included in the other campaigns)

oops, I must have been remembering wrong, but at any rate the first stand alone game you got came with more character slots than the second or third. And what we’re getting isn’t a stand alone game, it’s an expansion, and if we compare it with the one and only gw1 expansion you’ll notice they’re similar in the fact that neither comes with extra character slots.

I honestly think that the base expansion not including a new character slot is fair. Sure, the old gw1 campaigns gave you 2 free slots, but they were stand alone. If you bought prophecies first that one gives you 6 while the others gave you 2 each. Same the other way around. However this expansion isn’t standalone, you need the base game (yes, packaging the base game with the expansion is questionable, but please don’t focus on that here).

What about people complaining that you can’t play content you bought? Well the same held true for the base game at launch, 8 character classes to divide up among 5 character slots. Finally, something a guild mate of mine said a couple of months ago:
There’s no guarantee that you will use a new character slot if it came with the expansion for a Revenant.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

I’d just like to point out that the $50 option gives you the base game and the expansion, WITHOUT the extra stuff you would get from buying the deluxe edition of the base game. The last price of the deluxe edition was $20, so I would assume the expansion is $40 while just the base game is $10, which isn’t too terribly much to buy again. I also see $40 being a very fair price for the expansion, so at most I would see anet dropping $10 off the expansion if you already have it, but I highly doubt it. At any rate, I already bought the $75 package and if HoT is as good as anet is letting on, then I’ll stand by my choice.

Also as a side note, there is no way anet is only releasing 3 new areas. I’d say about 7, each of those with the 3 jungle level system they said, and also each being a fairly good size, definitely bigger than any of the maps in the game at launch (maybe not as amount of space the map takes up, but verticality makes up for that).

I’m kind of disappointed with the choice you have for the Firearms grandmaster trait. Either Juggernaut or Incendiary Power, which, is currently what I run together as a condi oriented build for extra and better burning. If you are want to dish out a lot of burns, flamethrower seems like a natural choice, but they threw away the great synergy between these traits.
Honestly I would have preferred Juggernaut the way it was if it meant staying as a master trait and allowing me to continue to have longer burns and burning on crit. However, as it is, I’m probably going to stick with Incendiary power and the Flamethrower even if it means not having the one trait MADE for flamethrower as it’s the better condi choice.

How the PvE dailies can be improved.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zenthieth.9431

Zenthieth.9431

First, as a disclaimer, I’m not one of those people who want the old daily system back because I can’t finish my daily in 5 minutes. I also know that PvP and WvW dailies are available for all players. It’s just what PvE dailies are available and what is bad with them specifically.

First, I would like everyone to keep in mind what the new daily system was meant to do when Anet changed it. They were supposed to make players go out in the world and do content in different corners of Tyria. So what are the PvE dailies today? The mandatory daily event completer and daily gatherers, as well as TWO daily fractals. These fractal dailies go completely against what Anet wanted the daily system to be. just go inside one fractal of the correct scale (today being a 21-30) and you have already done two of your dailies. No going out to different corners of the world, just pretty much sitting in Lion’s Arch. And this isn’t just an isolated case, some weeks there would be a fractal daily on three or four days of that week.

So what could be improved? First off remove one of the fractal dailies. I vote to keep the daily scale fractal to encourage people to sit through an entire fractal and not just go onto the LFG for a scale 1 swamp and finish the daily in 10 minutes. Second, add the daily gatherer and daily event completer to the rotation, let all four dailies be random each day (I know that PvP and WvW also have something similar to this so this is more nitpicking than anything else). Finally, add more dailies where you have to go out in the world and do something. Some examples that would be very good would be something like “Daily Ascalon Catacombs” where you can do any path in the dungeon, story or explorable, to get it, or “Daily Shiverpeaks Jumping Puzzle” where you could just complete any jumping puzzle in Shiverpeaks to finish the daily, or even “Daily Mini-Dungeon” because they are lesser known and Anet should give more incentive for doing them.

Anyways, that’s how I feel about the PvE dailies and how to improve them. It’s just something that I think about everytime there is a fractal daily, and something that I feel needed to be said. If anyone else has better ideas of what they could do to the PvE dailies or reasons why they shouldn’t change, please leave a reply below and explain why you think this way.
