Sorry if I missed that info earlier. As I stated, I’m not sure what Anet can do about this situation as they have no control over what phones the authenticator supports. Have you submitted a ticket to Customer Support?

True. They have no control over the phones the authenticator supports.

However… they do have control over the authenticator for Windows Phone that they are linking to on their Security page.

I would assume that they originally tested the authenticator they linked to for Windows Phone, found that it worked with GW2 and that is why they linked to that one. However, at this time, that particular authenticator is no longer available. As such, I would expect them to either:
a) remove the link from their Security page and not offer the option for Windows Phone,
or (and this is the option I would prefer)
b) that they test another authenticator, confirm that it works with GW2 and then change the link they have for Windows Phone to the new authenticator.

Either way, I really would like na official clarification about this topic. Submitting a ticket to Customer Support may be the only way to get this clarified but I will hold off on doing that for a few more days. I’m sure that I’m not the only Windows Phone user that plays GW2 and would like to use the mobile authenticator. A ticket to CS would answer the question only for “me” where as a reply here would answer the question for “everyone”.

I agree, while this issue IS about securing your ACCOUNT better, the application not being available at all for you phone is defiantly a technical issue.

If this a general issue with Google Authenticator not being available on Windows 8 phones, I’m not sure what Anet can actually do about that. I did some searching and it looks like Microsoft themselves have a Windows Phone 8 application that works with Google Authentication. I suggest you investigate that route further.

I did try the Microsoft Authenticator but it couldn’t get it to work with GW2 as it didn’t recognize the QR code.

Hello again,

I really don’t like replying to my own posts, but it has been 6 days and no response yet.

The question is:
Since the app that was initially available for Windows Phone 8 (and that you link to) is no longer available, is there another Mobile Authenticator app available on the Windows Phone 8 platform that I can use to secure my Guild Wars 2 account?

Or am I (and others) out of luck with regards to the Mobile Authenticator because I (we) use a Windows Phone?

Again, thanks for your time and any information you may be able to provide me with.

Sometimes when out in the world on a levelling toon I’ll buy something to use in a level or two’s time. Then later I’ll log on another toon and want to buy something to use “now”. With no way to send items to another character on the same account I end up having to either place stuff in the bank (or log back onto the other toon to retrieve the items before logging back to the other one to buy the item they want/need).

Can be annoying sometimes.

Hello,

As far as I can tell, there is no way to retrieve “only one” item from the “Pick Up” tab of the BLTC. It is all or nothing.

Is this correct? OR have I missed something?

The bag is a one time thing. The Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill is account bound however, so all your current characters and future characters will have it (new characters need to be at least level 30 for it to unlock). But the skill is really bad and only really used while levelling. This is a good thing though. If the skill was actually good then it would be pay-to-win.

Also, thinking about it, having the bag be an “account wide thing” would also be exploitable: create new toon, get bag, place bag in bank, delete toon, logon with other toon, retrieve bag, rinse and repeat until all toons have 4 18-slot bags…

As I said, I’ll personally be skipping this promotion…

Ahhh… only the banker… pity…

Is the “Deluxe Stuff” and “Heroic Stuff” account wide?

In other words, will all my characters receive ingame e-mails with the items or will only the first character I log in with receive the e-mails? (I followed the wiki links but the information there wasn’t very clear: it just states “Items will be delivered to you at your next log-in” or “item will be sent to the player via the in-game mail system”).

Hello,

I was doing some research into the existence of a Mobile Authenticator app for use with Guild Wars 2 that I could have on my Windows Phone 8 device.

I came across this:

Both indicate that there is a Mobile Authenticator app for Windows Phone 8. Good stuff (or so I thought).

So I logged onto the website, went to my Account page, clicked on Security, clicked on “Set up the app” and then clicked on the “Windows Phone” button.

This is where the problem starts. I am directed to the following page:

that indicates that “This app is no longer published”. Searching for the app (or the publisher: Matt McCormick) in the store on the device does not find the app either.

So my question is:
Since the app that was initially available for Windows Phone 8 (and that you link to) is no longer available, is there another Mobile Authenticator app available on the Windows Phone 8 platform that I can use to secure my Guild Wars 2 account?

i got another question..it said if i get 3 stacks of dishonoured i get banned from pvp forever in wiki.this true?

Not exactly. The wiki also indicates that “Each stack of dishonor lasts for 72 hours”.

Basically, that means that:
1) When you reach 3 stacks you will be prevented from joining rated games
UNTIL
2) 72 hours x 3 (216 hours or 9 days) have passed.

At least that is always how I understood it. Never had the inclination to test it though.

1 – You’ll unlock the skin after just equipping it, no need to force it to be soulbound. (salvage also unlock)
2 – Your new sword will have its own skin and if you want to keep the same skin as before you need to consume a transmutation charge to change the new sword.

Thanks Belzebu and Sinzer for the clarification on the first question. So just equipping it should add it to the Wardrobe. Cool.

Thanks for the answer on the second question Belzebu. If that really is how it will work, then that actually kind of sucks.

I really like the look of a Greatsword I got as a level 8 quest reward and have been applying that look over and over as I leveled my warrior. The cost has been 1 x Transmutation Stone at a time. Now, the cost will effectively triple to continue to apply that look to new weapons.

Unless… UNLESS… this sentence (from the blog):
“Unlocked skins can be applied to items infinitely (for just one Transmutation Charge), which makes it much less stressful to try out a new look for your character, since you can always switch back!”
means that once a “look”/skin is unlocked (and by “unlocked” I mean I have already paid the “Transmutation Charge” once for it) I can choose that “look”/skin again and again and again without paying another “Transmutation Charge”.

It would be nice to get some “official” clarification.

I’ve read the blog and been looking at the various posts about the new wardrobe, but I’m still a little hazy on the details.

Question:
If I equip a level 1 sword (for example) that I looted off a monster I killed will the “look”/“skin” of that weapon now be unlocked and present in my Wardrobe? Or will the level 1 sword actually have to become “soulbound” (by applying a sigil, for exemple) for it to appear in my Wardrobe?

Question:
If I go into the Wardrobe tab of my Hero panel and decide to use the “look”/skin of the level 1 sword to replace the look of my current sword, I will have to pay a “transmutation charge” for the change to take effect (this much I get).
What happens when 3 levels later I decide to equip another sword? Will I:
a) loose the look of the level 1 sword and have to reapply it and again pay another “transmutation charge”? (Which would be bad because, compared to what happens today, the cost would have tripled (for sub 80 items).)
or
b) will the look of the level 1 sword remain applied to any sword I equip until I either choose a new “look”/skin from the wardrobe (and pay another “transmutation charge”) or I equip a weapon that is not a sword?

Anyone have any ideas about the above?

Or you can keep the character and get 5000 Achievment Points. I think that is the first chest that came with the kit.

Very interesting! I do plan on keeping the character (just a tiny change I wanted anyway) so this is something to look forward to.

Hello all,

New to the game and I have a question and hopefully someone can assist me (did a search but didn’t find the answer I was looking for).

I want to change one small thing on my character, his jaw to be exact.

I’ve seen that there is a “Total Makeover Kit” available on the Store which allows the player to completely remake his character. However, paying 300 gems just to change a character’s jaw seems a little over the top for me.

I was wondering, is there someplace in-game that I can use to make changes to my character’s appearance and only pay for what was changed?
