I liked the new map, the premise of having to buy waypoints with map currency was interesting. Thought the story would have fit better if it was switched with episode 5.

Any thoughts on whether the fire islands could be coming up as a new map in season 3 or in a future expac?

It occurs to me that Lazarus (now that he has returned) might want to make sure the door of komalie stays closed and that the soul batteries keeping it closed are charged. Could this be part of the nobler/higher purpose Lazarus espoused and could it mean the player characters will soon be trying to stop sacrifices atop other bloodstones?

Personally, I’m loving the verticality of the new maps. I know it makes navigation a little more tricky, yet, it makes it feel more natural and as thought there’s so much more to explore. I keep finding all sorts of goodies and places in the new caves. hoping to try exploring the canopy a little more once I raise my masteries. I imagine this will keep me busy for quite a bit longer than some of the older less altitude varied maps.

i would enjoy it more if you didnt have to grind to be able to navigate the area. Whats next you have to grind xp to be able to run or jump?

I mean, yeah there’s a little grind. Personally I don’t mind going around and trying to do a few events in order to activate the first few levels of the masteries in order to expand my exploration possibilities. I will admit that it would be nice though, if the first level of each track was sped up just a little if it’s needed for story progression.

BETA: What we are enjoying

Admittedly, I only found the time to play the beta for a few hours this weekend….. but I loved the increased mob difficulty and the smokescale in particular were awesome. I hope I can find/get one as a pet for my ranger character when the full release is out. (Would it be wishful thinking in hoping for a few mobs/creatures/smokescale to roam the map and “hunt” random players or those they come across)

Just a thought on world bosses

Would I be alone in thinking that having a world boss on a timer is really not all that realistic and seems overall as though it holds the bosses back a little. If anything, I think the world bosses would benefit from having maybe 2 or 3 objectives to choose from and an increased range of movement instead of a timer.

Let’s use the Fire Elemental for example, what if its goal was to feed on magical energy and in order to accomplish this it started fighting its way to the heart of the reactor. Maybe as it gets closer it feeds on the chaos shards and generates smaller copies of itself from the fragments which in turn search for more and generate smaller copies of themselves (spreading kind of like a fire I guess). Once it reaches the heart of the reactor what if it found a way to tap into any remaining energy and upon charging up, exploded into a giant fire nova spreading mini fire elementals over half the map to cause chaos with the local wildlife for the next couple hours. Or if stopped, maybe just generating a localized quest to mop up any of the minis in the reactor before they spread.

Or maybe as another example, what if Tequatl’s goal was to defile a Hylek burial site. perhaps it starts off as normal, through the first burn phase and then, what if Tequatl flew east forcing the fight to just outside of one of the Sylvari outposts. Maybe have an improvised mechanic though up by the characters on the fly to keep down the hardened scale numbers and have Tequatl slowly push its way north as it corrupts the local wildlife to keep the players off guard. Culminating in either Tequatl dead or the players in the local area being overrun by undead Hylek streaming out of a tomb who spread out to cause increased problems to the pact/local hylek.

I mean, I know it’s just a thought, but the world bosses would be so much more engaging if they seemed to go about their own plans rather than standing around to die to the PCs on a timer. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy the boss fights on occasion, but it does get little boring when the world bosses are relatively stationary and don’t seem to want to pursue their goals in favor of instead being killed by swarms of PCs in the same spot each time. Still, what does everyone else think?

Ranger pet skins for existing pets, or the occasional new ranger pet (juvenile wyvern or undead gorilla maybe?)

Isles of Janthir

So…. this might be wishful thinking, but as we don’t know how expansive the map for the expac will be, does anyone think there’s any hope we might get to visit the Isles of Janthir in this expac? Or is it a little too far north of the Maguuma Jungle. I only ask as I’d love if there was some connection to the white mantle implemented in the expac. and if it had anything to do with the Eye of Janthir from GW. 1. But yeah…. probably just wishful thinking.

Any hope for exploring the new aerodome? It’d be awesome to find a way in there or if there was a jumping puzzle to a wp up there or something. On another note, there seems to be a lot of trade going through the docks of LA, any chance to know where that’s coming from? It’d be interesting to know what else is out there if it’s major enough to trade via what seems to be some of the very dangerous waters that seem to isolate LA a bit from the world. Other than that, really loved the giant lobster, Lobsters (Lions) Arch is way better than before.

If I might suggest the nuclear option? Release the Tengu. Though an extra character slot would be nice, I’ll probably buy the expac anyway. I’ve gotten far more entertainment out of this game and its predecessors over the years than from other games out there.

Personally, I was hoping for a 40$ price point. If one already owns the base game, is it possible to use the base game key from the xpac as a gift to someone else? I mean, I’d be much more willing to go for the 50$ price point if the xpac key was separate from the base key in the xpac bundle. Also, a character slot couldn’t hurt. I’ll probably buy it anyway though, I’ve had way more entertainment from this game than most of the other games I’ve bought over the years and I’m guessing the xpac will give me many more years of entertainment.

Any hope for a 2000 gem unlock of the Tengu as a playable race?
