I agree that there needs to be rewards for escorting Dolyaks. You need them escorted in the first 30 minutes of taking an objective so you can work on upgrades. It is true that killing Dolyaks gives you xp/karma/gold that is why you have 1-2 ppl camping the routes.
I agree with this post entirely. I come from DAoC and WAR. I was the leader of a 5 guild alliance and we worked hard to gain control of two zones and focused our efforts on getting to the Fort first for our server! Along with many more accomplishments.
Anyone remember/have the Dammas Kron (forget how to spell it) that tracked your kills of other players? If you killed someone it would show u a +#(green color) of -#(red color) meaning if you are ahead of them in 1v1 kills or they keep beating you. This made it competitive, you knew who you were fighting, you enjoyed it!
The WvWvW in GW2 is great, the terrain, the siege, the upgrades, etc. but there is still something to be worked on. I’m sure over time things will fall into place but really is no sense of accomplishment except for seeing that your server has a commander on at some map and is taking objectives for points. The first 24-48 hours really decide who wins the week long match. Get your guys up and out in the first 24 hours to defend, upgrade and hold and then it is almost impossible for another server to come back.
Anyways good post.
The mortar is situational. I mainly use it for WvW Tower/Keep defense. It is used inside the keep facing the door, you use the mortar to do AoE dmg to the door eventually killing the ram and hurting enemies while keeping safe inside the keep. There are also Towers that have bridges the enemy must walk across to get to the lord, the AoE knockback skill is clutch here as you can knock off a good amount of people.
This skill is solely used for defensive purposes and should very rarely be used in open fights or sPvP. All engineer skills have a time and place, you just need to think it through a bit.
[Suggestion] Not ONE should have to bear the costs for WvW upgrades

This is an interesting idea. Although I would support something like this I feel there is a different problem here.
Guilds claiming keeps to hang their banners and walking away, dfuq?
There should be a cost to claim a keep. This means serious guilds would claim keeps and take the time to upgrade them and guard supply lines in. Once you are 80 dropping a gold into a tower is nothing, a keep on the other hand should be planned with guildies. I’ll be honest, I’m not dropping 2 gold into upgrading anything that doesn’t have my alliance banner hanging from it. I will defend a keep until the lord is dead but I feel better about spending gold and dropping 3-4 siege to defend when my guild is being represented. I get that it is to win for the server but what can I say, I represent my guild.
Looks should be your main focus. Voices are nice but really most people game with some music and are in a vent/mumble with guildies in PvP/sPvP/PvE. Racial traits are probably the worst for engineers. All engineer utility skills have two abilities, your main utility and then it’s toolbelt skill. When you choose a racial utility you just have that utility and no longer have a second skill. One could argue that some elites are good, but having an AoE ranged stun that tosses out health packs, nets targets and does damage.. that is pretty epic.
I’d suggest humans as they look great in exotic gear, the Charr are also a great choice if you like their look because they armor shows a lot of detail and you can distinguish their guild emblems well on their large backs.
Mobility on an engineer isn’t really an issue. If you play with a rifle you already have the ability to make the fight go how you want it. If a player does get close to you then there are a few ways to go about it. If you are at least 75% health just do a jumpshot right there, it hurts like hell and causes vulnerability. Throw a blunderbuss on him to add DoT effect and then shoot him back with overcharged. After this net him. You should have net ability specced so that it cripples him for 5 seconds, giving you time to move around and if your rifle skills are specced for 20% CD reduction then by the time he gets to you repeat it.
You can also keep a rocket turret in your kit, if someone gets close deploy it and immediately use explosive rockets. That is an instant knockdown. This allows even more time for your knockback and net abilities to get off CD.
As for your complaints about Overcharged Shot, the duration you stay in the air is always the same. If you target the ground 2 feet away from you there will be a delay in the air, if you use max distance you will not hang in air and be a good distance from your target.
If you really need to get away knockback, net, jump shot away, place rocket turret while running and then 1-2 seconds later use explosive rockets so it has a chance to knock them down as they try to catch up.
I could go on about the engineer but I think I’ve given enough examples. If you are looking for a few blinks and stealth you are playing the wrong class, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Instead of running just fight.
Agreed.
My guild mates and myself enjoy PvP in all its aspects. We also have enjoyed throughout many MMOs the ability to duel each other. Dueling serves multiple functions, here are a few:
*Dueling a friend allows you to understand the opposite class
*In turn dueling allows your friend to understand your class better
*You learn the ins and outs of classes so you can be a better PvP player
*You have the ability to test builds ideas and play out certain scenarios
I hope to see this in the near future.
In other games where you had keep sieges there was more than just a guild emblem that was displayed. I hope that we can update this for GW2 and have more recognition for guilds who spend the time and money escorting dolyaks and upgrading keeps.
Idea:
*tag the guards Veteran Guard [SK]
*If someone selects a guard display the guild name under the guards name, as you would see on a player
This is the most simple concept of the idea but I’m sure the WvW community would respond well to this. I’m sure you all have considered doing something like this but I just wanted to throw the suggestion out there.
Thanks.
Guilds trying to upgrade Towers/Keeps when people take supplies, possible fix.

If you are a die hard WvW player from DAoC, WAR or any other game then GW2 is what you have been waiting for. You also probably belong to a guild of players who want to succeed in WvW which means you claim towers/keeps and upgrade them so you can have a better defense. One problem though, PUGs take your supplies. wtf right?
Guilds should be able to restrict supplies from being taken from their depots up to 50% of total supplies. This would allow players to take supplies to build siege when there is a surplus of supplies but also allow supplies to be safe in a depot for upgrade purposes. This is the best fix I can think of for guilds who actually enjoy succeeding in WvW and not having reinforced gates because randoms want to build a siege that they placed in AoE radius of the enemy. Nothing frustrates me more than trying to help out the server when randoms take my supplies and we can’t fully upgrade a keep.
I’m hoping that others out there feel this way and that we can implement something to help out in this situation. When you are the sole person spending money on upgrades and you fail because random people take the supplies instead of going to supply camps it feels like a waste.
Any other thoughts or suggestions?
I have to agree that I would pay for a race/sex change at this point in the game. Spending a little money instead of rerolling the same class but with a different race/sex is well worth it.
The end game armor for human characters appeals to me more than my Asura. I’d also like to be able to show my guild emblem with pride but on such a small race as the Asura that isn’t possible. I hope more people out there would like to see a race/sex change and we can get this option available soon. In a game with no subscription fee paying for a race/sex change is well worth it.
