Where’s my Halloween Wizard’kitten ? I’ve been waiting for about a year and I expected it to be on sales during this week. No seriously, I NEED it. Please. Really.

Would you kindly put it back on the market ?

PS: I swear I’m not gonna paint it black and put in on some “TRVE DARK WIZARD” nor grey on some “Gandalff the Grey”

The chests were designed to reward the player who did the meta. Jumping from a map to another to farm chests you never contributed to is, unless you are a total hypocrite, an obvious exploit.

Now I won’t go into much economic model explanations but if everyone farmed here it would make GW2 crippling inflation even worst.

Now, do I personally care. Probably not. But all those defending this as “NOT AN EXPLOIT MUH GOLD MUH FARM” are just plain hypocrite or idiots.

I guess we’ll all agree that the content is fun, well designed and refreshing. Si I’ll just skip this and go to the “bad” points:

- I’m not totally buying the Fire/Death/Plant minion thing. But that’s just my opinion.

- Same goes for the new armor pieces and the legy, but again it’s a matter of taste.

- I liked the little winks to gw1 players (Mursaat tokens, chest design…) But I would love some quest involving a few titans. Like a surviving titan overlord, after all, we still have mursaat fortress up. In gw1, when you killed a titan it would spawn 2 smaller titans that would spawn 2 lesser titan each too. This gave us some nice gameplay and required team work to avoid being overhelmed. This would TOTALLY suit a high level boss or event a fractal champion.

- Last point, and the only real negative point, It is REALLY REALLY short. Took me more or less 2 hours to finish (21/26 achievements)

Here’s a bit of a farfetched theory but:

What if this symbol represent a real balance that must be kept ? We did kill Zhaitan and now we are going for Mordremoth. Exactly how we should do if we wanted to keep the symetry in the figure (and therefore the balance). It seems dumb but what if this had more sense than just a maths figure ?

One represented death and the other is about growing and giving “life” to plants.
The other dragons fit the scheme too. Water opposed to Earth, Ice opposed to fire.

Maybe it’s the order that we’ll have to keep. Maybe we’ll have to adjust the balance by killing the opposites.

Well for once the title is not sarcastic.

Being an old gw1 player and a huge fan of the Prophecies campaign I was really pleased to finally see some implied references to its amazing lore. Expecially the “funny” ones such as the Moa kid’s story.

BTW Is the letter about Mallyx an inside joke when it says “you’ll need a special strategy to kill him” because we (DOA farmers) used to use a glitch against him ?

I was also happy to see that you decided to give more hinds on popular theories (and to see that it seems I was right on most of them :p).

Also the new content seems to be a kittenallenging and requires organised map, THANK YOU ! THANK YOU ! Keep it up it’s just great.

And the last thing (maybe the most important), you all deserve a huge hug for the Crystal Oasis soundtrack during the last mission.

Here, I’m the first to critize when you do bad things, but on this one you did a perfect job

Who can honestly say failing after putting in a decent amount of effort isn’t frustrating? Anyone familiar with the following train of thought? “Make one mistake, and you (often) have to start all over. Again! You have nothing to show for your efforts so far, but give up now, and it will have been for nothing.”

Geez, I wish more modern games were like this. I love GW2, don’t get me wrong, but the game industry in general needs to stop holding our hands. I’m guessing you’re early twenties, at most. I won’t say we’re a majority, but gamers of my generation (My God, there are people of drinking age too young to remember A Link to the Past!) remember the reward associated with playing a section of a game over and over and over, until we finally honed our skills enough to pass. Those were the days when success could actually make you jump out of your seat and shout with joy. Hate to sound like a geezer, but this “mistakes should be rewarded” mindset is exactly why so many older people complain about younger people. If you’re looking for a story to watch while you press buttons, try Dear Esther. Or maybe pausing a DVD over and over. Come back when you can handle a mild challenge.

[/grumpy old codger rant]

Yeah. I can’t agree more. I spent almost 2 hour replaying the living story and completing those achievements. When it came to the jumping part I must have died 30 time and raged hard (sorry Anet, but I insulted you with every word I know) but when I finally made it I was actual proud of myself. New videogames are usually way too easy.

Sorry to say that but people complaining that we are selfish because we don’t take their conditions into account should actually apply those critics to themselves.
I mean, because you can’t do something doesn’t mean everyone should pay the price. I want this game to be fun and not just some linear kill kill kill mmo. I want the living story to be….. alive !
Imagine a blind person forcing everyone in a cinema to listen to audio description rather than just renting a dvd.
If you can’t reach the (very low) entry skills level of gw2, maybe you should play something else…

Oh Come on ! This game is already 80% afk auto attack. I mean look at the wb farm train and you’ll see what I mean. People complained and Anet implemented some new challenging boss where DUN DUN you could actually DUN DUN fail !

Then casual assisted players started complaining again because it was “too hard”.

People complained about the living world being too repetitive so Anet implemented some innovative gameway concept (can I jump here ? Can I run thru without fighting and losing my jumps ?).

Then casual assisted players complaines about this being “waaaay too hard”.

So I have a solution, let’s learn from moto. Let’s add a baby mode to gw2, and make it a big superadventure box for everyone ! we’ll have some magical rainbows to put you on top of jumping puzzles and killing mobs for us !!

The Sylvari as Mordremoth Minions?

in Living World

Posted by: Zin.1673

Zin.1673

Again, Konig is blindly defending that Sylvari and Dregons aren’t strongly linked.

So far, the only race not corrupted by the other dragons are Sylvari. So far, the only race corrupted by morde are…. Sylvari.

During the new personal story, when you fight another “hum” crazy Sylvari you also encounter hostile mobs that are linked to Sylvari (hunt, husk…).

As stated in gw1, the seed of the GPT was found deep into Maguuma.

And so on…. Yes, nobody in game stated that Sylvari are minions. But you got to be blind not to see that they have something to do with Morde.

But no, nothing to see here pals, please move on.

Also, and a bit off topic. All races are represented in our “band of brothers” except Sylvari. Shall we expect one to come soon ?

I would rather have something nice that worth nothing BUT is original enough to justify the involvement (and that would be logical in the story) than an expensive ugly drop that I would just sell.

You get a unique helm. Isn’t that enough?

I don’t like it, it’s another skin with spikes and kitten . That’s my opinion tho and it’s not an argument.

But again, it’s not linked to this sucess. If you look on the previous events you’ll notice that we often had different items linked to different success, and a “big” reward linked to the meta event in general. But on the climax of the story, for the “biggest reward”,we have…. nothing !

True about the Mursaat, I don’t know why I believed 4 were left. I compared the beyond quest’s with the known Mursaat’s hierarchy and none is left except him (or what is left from him). Yet they won’t be able to have a major role (except if Anet decides to create a twist)
Seer fought the dragons, they most likely went into hiding from the Mursaat. Well, “she/he” as it seems to be alone. Maybe the “interesting ideas” are just some sort of final battle between the 2 (which would be lame).

As far as I remember the dialogues (it’s been a while) the Seer has a very aggressive attitude toward the Mursaat (I can’t blame him) and seems to only help you defeating them. Question would be, did he knew about the Titans (obviously he would also know about the Dragons, but maybe not the chain reaction that would result from the Prophecy) ? If so, the race is just as “evil” as the Mursaat.

We do not know when it started, though. or do we?

It started some time after Omadd put Ceara through his experiment.

What if she had these visions while she was Caera

She didn’t, as far as we know.

Is just saying that she is gathering forces of every element.
This seems rather weak, if we think about everything we already know.

I would take everything that the Priory say at this point with a pinch of salt. She was camping out right underneath their base after all.

a problem with tunnel drills is, that it still creates material behind it.
Going vertical would just have the material fall onto the drill, maybe even damaging it.
However if we see it as a giant portal machine, just with a drill attached, the rubble created would just be sucked into the void and transported somewhere else.

This is a reasonable assumption.

Mordremoth
As far as we know, he is sitting somwhere in the Maguuma jungle.

We do not know this, and we have nothing to assume this might even be the case.

We can’t get to the Forgotten because they are deep in Kralkatorrik’s territory

We don’t know if they are still around.

And the Seers are in hiding or extinct

We have nothing to base this on either. A wild assumption based on zero evidence.

The Mursaat could do something about it, but after the events of GW1 they won’t lift a muscle to help.

We don’t know anything about whether the Mursaat are still around, nor if they would be interested in fighting the dragons. We have no idea what their agenda might be, in regards to the Elder Dragons.

Well first of all who are you to judge theories.

You do realize you are arguing with someone with way more knowledge about the lore than yourself, right? That’s like saying to a firefighter: “Well what do you know about fire?!”

Talking about knowledge….

Seers were defeated by the Mursaat, they are hiding since then. The last Seer that played a role in the modern history helped Zinn (we are not even sure, maybe Zinn only found some technologies belonging to them).

Mursaat are well defeated, the few survivors of the Komali Gate were distroyed during the battle for the Lion’s Arch. As far as we know, 4 for them are left and the last time Anet mentionned the Mursaat it was AGES ago. So they my pop from a flower and participated somehow to some events but I highly doubt that they would play a main part.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t the Sylvari learn from the teachings of the Ventari Tablet? In which case, morality comes from the teachings but is spread by the Dream of Dreams. You’re correct that they’re not tied to the Sylvari race as a whole, Malyck did lack the dream.

Edit: According to the information in game on the Ventari tablet, it states that it serves as a moral foundation for the Sylvari

I was more meaning the fact how the Dream are “free to chose” their moral standing, while the Nightmare are forced into a moral standing. Even then, most Dreamers are in fact much kinder than Soundless or Malyck.

Not going to respond to the rest because quite frankly, I am sick and tired of “sylvari are dragon minions!!!”

Well first of all who are you to judge theories. Second, you must be blind not to see that the Sylvari are very much related to the Dragon. Dragon spawn ? Corruptible race ? This nobody knows yet.

Another thing, when you create a character your first “big boss” is related to your race main problem. As a Sylvari you are asked to fight against the “Nightmare”, and the boss is a dragon that looks nothing like Zhaitan but rather a jungle/tree like dragon.

When you talk with the Sylvari NOT following the pale tree they all mention “voices” or “callings”, on of them even more or less saying “we must accept violence and pain being a part of our nature”.

I strongly believe that we’ll have to fight against hostile Sylvari (or Sylvari alike) fighting for the dragon, wether they were born for it or currupted.

Also, why would the Sylvari be the only race NOT corrupted by Zhaitan nor the Destroyer ?

I would like to recall some things from the “What Scarlet Saw” short story and see how it fits with our updates on the story so far. Some parts of the story stand out, though I still can’t make full connections with what’s going on in the story so far.

When Scarlet was in Omadd’s machine she heard the Pale Tree’s voice saying: “Stop, my child. Please: go no further. In seeking to comprehend the forces that shape us, you will unleash them. Society cannot withstand that.”.

What forces is the Pale Tree talking about? What exactly does she mean by shape us? At first glance when you read it, you’d think shaping means defining how they act. Which as far as we know, what defines the morals, for lack of a better word, of the Sylvari are the teachings of the Ventari tablet. BUT, that wouldn’t make sense with the following part that says ‘you will unleash them. Society cannot withstand that.’

Interesting, another theory that have been around is that the sylvari are spawns of the jungle dragon, freed by Ventari and the human that took the seed. This would mean that the pale tree feared that he would try to regain control over them.

Let me remind everyone of one thing, Anet is stopping the world events to “focus on a big update” in 3 updates. And that the only existing connection with the rest of the world is a portal, defended by lvl 80 (!) in Brisban.

This portals leads to the jungle.

May I add something ?

Research have been made saying that actually Sylvari are dragon spawns, I cannot find the topic but this pretty smart. For exemple, from all the races, they are the only one that CAN’T be corrupted by Zaitan (no unded Sylvari). They are also related to dream and nightmare, just as one of the dragon. They are all interconnected and following the orders of the tree.

So possibly, the only thing that made those of the pale tree free is Ventari and its teaching and the fact that they were far from the dragon when born. Yet, the nightmare is strong and some Sylvary can’t fight against it.

This being said, you have much more accurate research about this on the net. This could explain why scarlet have been corrupted by a dragon, he just “reactivated” the link.

Now the cool part:

The event related to Scarlet ends in 3 updates. AND AND AND Anet said they were about to stop those living world event to make a BIG EVENT.
