So, what are the mesmer escapes? blink and phase retreat (with staff). it’s not much. They blink behind and didn’t care to look to see if they were there?
Well, most of time a decoy unto blink and prestige is enough to lose a non-thief, or at least give you a nice gap between your enemy. You can even go further and continuum unto prestige+decoy, return and then blink unto prestige+decoy again. And I didn’t even used phase retreat yet. Sure, it require some key skills to be off cooldown, but except for thief you need some key skills to lose a enemy in any profession.
Trashed all of my previous comment. Will say this to mesmers:
Don’t care about the meta. Don’t play condi. Run Marauder/Zerk, and have fun. It’s not easy learning the skill curve, but you will (after many deaths), and the rewards are amazing.

And did you just say you’re a guild leader? pulling that card, really? wow…
I think he was reffering to me in that part.
maybe; never heard of you. but guild leaders are a dime a dozen, so whatever.
And I think herein is a key issue, the casualised nature that (arguably) Guild Wars 2 is aiming at. Perhaps this chrono build is a result of that?
Still, at least this guild leader/mesmer player gets tips on how to spec a mesmer (please pick up on the sarcasm… eyes are rollin…hard!).
Off for the evening.
No idea what you mean. Don’t play condi; use zerk. I have no problem w/ condi mesmers (save a few that I can recognize, same as I do w/ other classes… they’re just better than me).
You have problems fighting a condi mesmer, I’m guessing it’s just 1 that gave you alot of problems. Maybe a few. More than that, it’s a l2p issue. The skills don’t go off by themselves.
And did you just say you’re a guild leader? pulling that card, really? wow…
Again; just take all zerk (or marauder/zerk) equip, and have fun. Be suprised how fast you learn, and tend to have alot more fun. It’s a learning curve sure, but so much more rewarding in the end.
Dude. I played full zerker mesmer before… But I can no longer do it. It’s no longer fun to me. I hate to lose fights because my enemy have a lot of self sustain which my profession lack when not running a bunker setup.
I’m having a ton of fun running zerk (caveat: have a power/tuff/feroc for a back piece). Using 10% dmg red/ 15% boon buff food, +100 tough/10% ferocity util, str runes. Just realized i had to go more on the offensive than the defensive (latter of which is what i think alot of people do).
condi bunker applies to all classes (not just mesmer). You want to have fun, pick a class, equip it in all zerk and take melee weapons, and whatever you think are the best build specs you can think of.
Honestly, with the elite specs, I can no longer agree with the “Zerker purist” statement. It’s not fun to be outsustained by some professions like Druid/Scrapper/Tempest and even Warrior after the Adrenal Health buff. Not every profession have that much self sustain and mesmer cetainly don’t.
It doesn’t mean I like condi bunkers tho. The playstyle of that kind of build is just plain boring.
Nothing beats thief/daredevil for escape potential. Hell, even druid with staff/gs is better. (I’m suprised I didn’t even mention nike warrior).
True, but I belive he mean about adding a escape potential to a already strong condi bunker. A condi thief is nowhere as dangerous as a condi mesmer despite the fact the he will most likely get away.

@Jeknar
I’m not complaining, just throwing a statement out there to see what duelers/roamers in general think about this build and it’s place in the dueling/roaming ecosystem.
Thanks for contributing
I see… Well, most people won’t even bother dueling one. I even see some dude run power food to bait people into fighting them.
I run a Viper’s variant myself (the original build is carrion for spvp or dire/trailblazer on wvw) and it’s a pretty strong combo aswell, but it lacks the passive defense from the full condi version. I think the big deal isn’t the build itself, but how it work along with the defensive stats. Honestly, any condi bunker is terrible to fight against in a 1v1 situation.Agreed on the bunker statement. But you add the escape potential in as well and it (imo) comes out on top. It’s pretty toxic for roaming in general atm.

You complained power/power/condi 30/30/30/30/30 mesmer was broken in your op. You can’t beat the power/power/condi 30/30/30/30/30 mesmer 1v1, so it must be broken.
Even more; 6,911 hours; almost all in WvW, and mostly single/duo/small team roaming. And yes, I’m a mesmer main. Gold Colonel; not that it matters much considering the EotM guys runnin around w/ Mithril rank. (fyi ANET… fix AT already…)

Since July 2012 only played WvW. over 5k hours logged. No personal attacks, just assumptions based on your arguments. And don’t care about spvp. WvW is a different beast than sPvP. l2p.
(edited by abysterical.3792)
Sounds more like a l2p issue to me.
condi/condi/power mesmer? is the old 30/30/30/30/30 build back?
Add a server chat would do even better, unfortunately for spambot a as well
Well, could always limit it to the same area as mapchat, then further limit to those only registered with a specific server. For example, only those in LA that are registered with Northern Shiverpeaks could see chat from myself if I use that new / command.
A better idea might be adding a new chat option for server-specific chat. As we have /m /s /p etc right now, maybe a new ‘/’ that only those registered with that server can see.
I normally run solo or in small groups in WvW. I started running this build about a week ago, and have had alot of fun with it; Mostly a power build, with enough condition dmg to make the conditions viable. I try to get enough interrupts off in the beginning of a fight to build my might stacks (getting between 10-20 stacks of might is common).
I’m still working on timing my interrupts, but so far it’s been alot of fun.
The build:

Note: I’ve actually switched to using Bowl of Cactus Fruit Salad instead of Koi Cakes; for some reason I can’t find them though for a food option on gw2skills.net.

And, anyone with suggestions on improvement, would be happy to hear those as well!

I only noticed after this most recent patch; If you can, try dueling a thief/mes, you should see what I’m talking about. As soon as the thief comes out of stealth, all illusions just “explode” (death; not a shatter).
Fighting a thief in WvW; he stealthed, the clones/phantasms I had out just died as soon as he came out of stealth. Noticed it again when fighting another mesmer; no action taken on my part to destroy them.
Bug or Intended? Anyone else notice this?
