Dear Loosmaster, while I can’t personally fund your transfer off this server, I will offer some advice. If you’re not happy somewhere – the door is always open. You didn’t sign a contract commitment to this server when you joined and you’re free to leave whenever you’re dissatisfied (which, for you, is often).

The majority of the loyal people who are here – are happy with the community, enjoy the fights that we have, as well as the roaming opportunities that present themselves, and are dedicated to making our server atmosphere fun and our events inclusive.

Sadly, you fall within the 0.5% of people who would rather kitten and moan on the forums than change their situation.

Welp. Since none of the guilds that are participating in the tournament are particularly thrilled about the PvP aspect of it, we’ve decided to remove the “Server Finalist” part of the tournament. What this means, is that same-server guilds will NOT be matched against each other in the first round, and hopefully will be eliminated before needing to fight each other in later rounds. With that said – I hope that this change encourages other guilds to join since all of the fights will be taking place in either OS or EotM. Currently we have three more spots to fill.

We are limiting the Bottom-feeder League Spring GvG Invitational to Bronze tier only – meaning servers ranked 17th – 24th

Myself and some guilds from across the bottom tier servers have created a list to facilitate easier GvG match-making during the week, occasional tournament events (more on that below), and even scrims with higher tiers via EotM. If GvG is something your guild currently does, is interested in trying, or even would just want to spectate, please get in touch with us (10v10 format and above)! We’re also looking for motivated individuals to join us behind the scenes to organize, put on events, record, commentate, publicize, etc.!

Many guilds have already registered their contact info on our community spreadsheet and used that info to schedule GvGs and scrims. If you or your guild would like to get involved – simply request access to the linked spreadsheet , comment below, or message me privately in-game (adrielle.2109) and I’ll set you up. (As a side note, we do ask that the guilds who are already registered please make sure you keep the contacts up-to-date and provide as much information about your upcoming GvGs as possible.)

Now, I believe we’re finally ready to gauge the interest in holding a Bottom-feeder League Spring GvG Invitational – a bracket style tournament event allowing same-server guilds to fight each other, determine a winner, and then send finalists to fight cross-server and compete for The Best in Bronze title. The details so far:

Week of April 18th through 24th, 2015 – Same server guilds will compete 10v10 in a private PvP arena (if you do not have access to your own, one will be provided) to determine a “Server Finalist”. Rounds will be best 2 out of 3.

Weeks of April 25th through May 8th, 2015 – “Server Finalists” will compete against each other in either Obsidian Sanctum or Edge of the Mists depending on matchup and Eotm color to determine “The Best in Bronze”. Rounds will be best 2 out of 3. 10v10 or 15v15 to be decided upon by the particular guilds fighting.

More details will be provided upon confirmation that there is enough interest to organize it. Tournament is eligible to all servers in “Bronze Tier” at the time of tournament. So, if this sounds like something you’d be interested in attending, participating in, donating prizes, streaming, commentating, publicizing, or just generally being involved with – please get in contact with us by replying here or in-game (adrielle.2109) or (adrielle.4307)

I’m not sure that it’s fair of us to blame the server lag completely on the new stability change. I’m sure it isn’t (that) complex of an equation that it would cause 1-5 second skill delays for everyone.

However, I think we can all agree that whatever IS causing it needs to be addressed by Anet immediately.

Some FAQs about DR:

Q: Does DR have map queues?
A: EB gets queued on occasion, like Friday reset. And we can fill a map during special server events but other than that, no. I know that for a lot of players this makes roaming easy because you don’t have to sit through a queue if you just feel like ganking. And for guilds this is also a plus because they can get their entire raid into the same map if they need to.

Q: What are the typical group sizes you face on enemy servers?
A: Down here in T7 / T8 the size of enemy groups vary greatly. One minute you’re fighting a guild group of 10 at a tower, then you go to a camp and find 7 roamers from various guilds trying to get their yakslapper title, then the next minute you attack hills and 2-4 defenders man their siege hard enough that it stalls you until an enemy blob of 40 rolls around the corner.

Q: Other than WvW, what does DR do?
A: Our community is full of people who regularly organize server events such as the “DR MARCH MADNESS PvP TOURNAMENT” that we have going on at the moment, where seven 5-man teams are competing for prizes and bragging rights throughout the entire month. We also have a scheduled “Trait Unlocking Event” scheduled in a few weeks for those people who have made characters after the April 15th patch and don’t want to spend gold or skill points to buy the traits they need!

If there is anything else you have questions on before making the switch over to Devona’s Rest, please don’t hesitate to ask! :)

May I suggest Devona’s Rest? It’ll be extremely different than what you’re used to on TC, but we’re a tight knit community and currently rebuilding our WvW presence.

The name Guild Wars is based on lore not game-play.

It’s mind boggling people still haven’t figured that out after all these years..

I know the lore, but I have to say that is the most disappointing and weak excuse not to have GvG honestly. The title of something should reflect it’s core nature, not some obscure reference from it’s backstory. They call it Lord of the Rings, not Gimli’s Favorite Ale.

As far as the time constraints you mentioned, we remove inactive members after 4 months of not logging in, so if you at least log in more than 3 times a year you’ll be fine :P

^ Before this thread gets too heated, let’s remember that everyone has a different opinion about what GvG should and should not be. And some of the Bronze tier servers who have never really been exposed to it (aside from a youtube clip here and there) might have a scewed idea of it.

Then what specific way do your players fight, Synosius? Because if you have a guild of 15 roamers who think that they can beat 15 players from my guild, then I don’t see a problem with whatever type of playstyle you want to bring into the Obsidian Sanctum. Prove to me that your guild’s fighting composition is better than the, as you put it, “5warr, 5guard, 2ele, 2 necro, 1mes. Run forward, veil, boon strip, static field” that my guild is bringing to the fight.

My own guild could probably scrounge up at least 5 people interested in giving this a go, and depending on how they enjoyed that, they might get more from the guild to want to try it etc. But I strongly doubt we could get 10 in on a first try. We’re roamers first and foremost, and when spotting the enemy we still scatter like a pack of squirrels in a peanut-butter factory.

And Joneirikb, while I greatly appreciate you keeping an open mind… 5v5 is really just tpvp and if I wanted that I’d do a hotjoin in Heart of the Mists. What server does your pack of squirrels belong to? :P Maybe the next time VOX is out roaming with small numbers we’ll try to meet up with you :)

We’re not moving to Silver tier because that’s not fixing the problem. Bronze tier has the potential to get competitive… or did you miss the entire point of my post?

And it’s not that I have a problem with 5 man guilds that simply can’t pull enough numbers for a proper GvG. And I certainly don’t have a problem with guilds that are PvE, PvX, or just multi-server and don’t have all of their fighters in the same place.

Those aren’t the ones who are “kittens”…… It’s the ones who schedule a GvG with us and then cancel at the last minute.

LISTEN UP Eredon Terrace, Kaineng, Devona’s Rest, Sanctum of Rall, Borlis Pass, Sorrow’s Furnace, and Ferguson’s Crossing.

Okay let’s face it – there isn’t much incentive to knowingly choose a bronze tier server when returning to the game or buying it for the first time. (Unless you’re looking for a server with no queues ever.) But we can change that if we start growing an active GvG community! I’m not suggesting that PPT is not important – but it can get a little stale without some fair fights to spice it up from time to time.

It feels like I’ve spammed every server’s forum with an invite to GvG my guild. As far as responses go, I either get “We’d love to! But we don’t have the numbers…” or “All of our GvG guilds transferred to higher tiers” or my personal favorite “Fresh meat in the rat pit. They’ll learn soon enough how to rot like the rest of us did. ;DD As they find there is no GvG in T8/T7”

^ Is this really the bronze attitude towards building a competitive community?

You wonder why your servers have a low WvW presence and yet you always see your guildies in Heart of the Mists and PvP matches? Maybe it’s because they can only follow you around and karma train Eternal Battlegrounds for so long before they actually want to match their skills with a similar number of players.

Yes, I am posting this because I want [VOX] to have more than the two GvG’s we’ve been able to drum up in the past three matchups. But I’m also posting this because I’m passionate about sparking an interest in bronze tier to be more than just content with roaming in 2 man groups and constantly complaining about being outnumbered.

You can comment here or message me in-game. (adrielle.2109) I’m open to thoughts, suggestions, or contact info of other guilds in bronze tier who would be interested in an official 15v15 GvG or even a 10v10 scrimmage with [VOX].

The community on DR is super friendly and helpful. We’re tight knit and take everyone’s ideas into consideration through votes, server meetings, forum discussions, etc. But our current situation right now is that a lot of WvW focused guilds transferred to higher tiers looking for bigger fights – leaving those who are dedicated to DR with insufficient numbers to cover the bls during the week.

Whether you’re an entire guild looking to gain acknowledgment for the time you put into WvW, or just a single player who is tired of the negativity on your current server – consider giving us a try.
