My necro runs zerker stats, full minion build with blood fiend (though heal is irrevelant), bone minions, bone fiend and Rise! with Lich Form as elite… I run greatsword and dagger/dagger and have blood magic (all bottom) , death magic (all top) and reaper equipped (top-top-bottom if Im not mistaken). If you have someone attacking you, your minions are enough, have a group, cast Rise. Have a boss with thousands of hp? Lich Form, cast that minion mark under him and autoattack.
I’d guess a set with condi damage could work too as they nab condis off you and transfer them to the foes (which scales with your condi strength/length)
I run this build in pve and pvp (rarely that I do pvp) and never ran it in wvw/eotm so I can’t really say about eotm – the minions die a lot faster in pvp/wvw than in pve though
AI has still some issues but on the overall much much better than what it was :P

Where do you find minions useful?
I run them both in PvE and PvP (though they’re not as durable in the latter). I never visit WvW but I’d take them with me there too! They’re my lovelies <3

I did, used to run flesh golem for no specific reason (cough KD cough)

which gear sets would you use minions with?

1) power with no defense ie beserker I run this
2) condi with no defense ie viper for spreading possible condi’s as traited minions take condis off you and transfer them to the foes
3) power with some defense ie mix of beserker and soldier if you’re feeling like you need extra survivability… I guess…….
4) condi with some defense ie mix of viper and dire ^

I’m torn between giving a low and a high score because I kind of have a love-hate relationship with puns. And so 7.5/10 a mid high for Deus.

Backstory: Eilalai Eeveerian was the ancestor who’ve perfected the use of the lich form and aimed for achieving imortality. Which did and did not happen. In the deciding moment her twin sister, Mort Eeveerian, whom sworn to bring Eilalai down for abandoning their family to the Charr during the searing threw a dagger into Eilalai’s chest, shattering her soul while the said immortality was achieved. Realising her mistake, Mort sought her own immortailty, but that is a background story for another forum. Fast forward to gw2, where a small mute orphan, following her life’s spiraling luck, finds an fragment of Eilalai’s soul. By touching, their souls merge and the Lich’s corruption changes the orphan and burns her eyes ghostly blue. Without any functioning vocal cords nor eyes she summons ghastly minions or assumes her Lich form to communicate when needed.

This one hasn’t got a background story as intricate as Eilalai’s. But it’s in the making, once I have it, I’ll update It’s influenced by the malazan books of the fallen which are currently my favorite series of books

Pfft, why’d all people take a ranged weapon? take GS and dagger/dagger and faceroll through everything with your minions! I’m having TONS of fun with this build (and no, I don’t care if its dps isn’t high enough)

Blood Fiend, Bone Minions, Rise! and Lich Form are the utilities I use.
Blood magic – all down, Death magic all up, reaper mid-top-down.

In some maps (like Dragon’s Stand I actually had 22 minions <3 I run zerker stats but you can throw some healing power if you want though it really isn’t needed

My ele, Lady Vanola runs aprentice shoes, inquest skirt, whisper’s chest piece, heavenly light gloves, t3 human shoulders and the dread mask.
My warrior, Idris Goldendust runs studded plate boots, vigil’s leggings, whisper’s chestpiece, fused gauntlets, carapace shoulders and vigil’s helm.
My necro, Eilalai Everlunar runs carapace boots, t3 human skirt, carapace chestpiece, winged gloves, t3 human shoulders and seer’s mask.
