I don’t think we are having the same problem, when my screen goes black it doesn’t come back at all and I have to alt+f4 the game and log in again to keep playing which is another 10-20 minutes of game time until it happens again.
Edit: Also I’ve thought of something, I’ve had problems before with HDMI cables, if you’re using one try changing it with some other cable or if your monitor supports DVI try using that for a while and see if it helps.

anyone? I’ve even tried turning windows firewall and my anti virus software… still keeps happening… one more thing, If I had any interface windows open at the time (options, bags, hero screen etc.) they stay open until I close them manually and then I can’t open them anymore.
Hi, I need help with this If anyone knows a solution let me know. The problem is that whenever I play the screen just randomly goes black. I think my PC is rendering and processing the game and I see the mouse cursor. I also hear the ambient sounds.
I’ve tried everything I could find in the threads I’ve searched on this and other forums. I’ve tried the official gw2 help page solutions. Nothing helped. I’ve disabled my modem firewall, SPI, forwarded ports in windows firewall, unblocked GW2.exe in windows firewall, tried various amd catalyst control center settings, -windowed, -repair, -diag, -clientport 433, -clientport 80… it still keeps happening. I admit defeat and come here seeking help of anyone who has any idea what to do. Right now I am redownloading the game and updating my drivers to the latest beta drivers. If anyone knows any solution to this please let me know I would be very grateful. If I can’t find a solution to this problem no HoT for me, which makes me unimaginably sad.
So I’ve just come back to the game to pick up on it for a bit before the expansion. When I started playing I kept getting random black screens where I could still hear music (no sound from characters or environment) and I could see my cursor and that’s about it. There’s no indication as to what causes it. I can play for a time ranging from 5-30 minutes before the black screen appears and then I have to kill the process to shut down GW2. No other game has any sort of problems like this and all of them are online games too. I’ve tried the fix to play in windowed mode, it didn’t work and also I’ve checked my router and I haven’t found the options that some people are suggesting are causing the problem.
Why so much hate for humans, Charr definitely have the best cast animations but I love my Human Necro. Very aesthetically pleasing and not too big as a Norn.
When that wimp Trahearne can wield a GS why can’t we?
Just go with minions, i find that minions are amazing for solo play (sure they have their bugs but everything does) I found playing as a MM soloing champions easy just use scepter/dagger + staff and get the minions to do your work. I sometimes respec to 0/30/20/20 and trait for minion hp siphon, 50% minion hp, minion cdr. Still with this build you can do damage with conditions and are not reliant that much on your minions but they are a great wall of flesh and as one or 2 die you will have no problem resummoning them. Honestly for leveling minions are a breeze.
I don’t know why the never gave us the ability to use Greatswords. I mean… Death Knights are a thing right, basically a Necromancer Knight.
Lets see… I would love if they added a usable elite skill for the necromancer that is actually usable and not changing the bars or being a minion….
Nightmare:
Sends out a Nightmare(wraith/ghost we have spectral skills why not) in front of the Necromancer clearing a path for him and his allies feeding off the fear of its enemies.
Now how would this work.
It would send a “shadow” in front of you like the “warrior whirlwind” fearing the first 5 targets it hits for (1-2 sec) and providing stability for the Necromancer based on how many targets are hit. Also the damage should be low but the CD should be low too. 60 sec? All of the allies hit with it get stability for 5-10 sec? Also this provides the Necromancer “fear based class” some utility without sacrificing the rest of his spells for 20-30 sec. Just some thoughts I had. If anyone would like to add something more. Feel free.
Honestly I would just like for enemies to not attack the Bone Fiend so often first… The Flesh Golem has the most HP and still make it a bigger threat to the enemy AI.
So there I was… reading up on the new patch notes… excited to see what bugs they fixed this time. So I’m scrolling down reading everything eagerly and then I reach the Necromancer… “We fixed ONE bug.” I let out a desperate manic laugh. It’s so sad that it’s incredibly funny. I don’t know why I expected anything more… Reminds me of the “Stormstrike got a new icon” from WoW Shaman days.

As long as you keep your minions up and attacking they will siphon hp back to you like crazy, hence the staff + life transfer healing in the traits… it’s worked out for me so far…
So it’s come to this… quite frankly “All of them”. There shouldn’t be any bugs there they all bother me. I tend to switch my spec a lot and every time I do that something’s bugged.
Note: I love playing my necromancer despite that.
I use it in sPvP… It’s even more useful now when its controlled and doesn’t give a debuff.
Even so… they have synergy, we have a few traits that are on crit.
Cause the first minor trait in that line is 66% chance to stack a bleed on crit. Simple really.
I really love my necro. There’s just a lot of bugs.
I also like how the staff turns into a shadow-scythe when you cast/attack.
TBH that is very cool. I also like the angry shadowy ball you turn into when you go into Death Shroud.

I have 4gb of ram and a 6790-oc’ed its weak but I can still get a lot of FPS and no other games are having this much variation in fps. Only GW2.
Edit: It doesn’t matter what settings I play on… I still get low FPS in large battles even if everything is on low and I’m playing 1024×768 res.
So I have an AMD Athlon x2 64 6400+ a low end CPU I know, now I did some research and apparently the strongest CPU that my Motherboard can fit is a Phenom II X4 955. I am really short with finances at the moment and can’t spend it on a new rig, so I am here with a question…
- Will my FPS increase with this upgrade or should I not bother if it will be only a minor increase?
Also I get FPS variations from 5 in 3W and crowded D.Events to 80+ when I’m farming mobs and there isn’t much going on.
You don’t understand… I would play the game on low and on 1024×768 if it made any difference, but it doesn’t. No matter what I configure my settings to my fps always goes from 5 to 80 depending on the situation. Now, I have a weak pc but it shouldn’t lag like that on LOWEST POSSIBLE SETTINGS. It’s frustrating me, I was looking forward to 3W.
Why would you want to make it easier… imo its easy enough as it is and dumbing it down does nothing but devalue the whole game.
