Having purchased the armor i’m quite happy to say it looks awesome, the preview function dosn’t show how nice it really is. the solid blue middle is more like the effect on dusk but obviously blue.
If we’re still guessing im gonna go with Flameseeker Prophecies and Frenzy.
While i understand that Scarlet has voices in her ear about her plans, i do believe that she isn’t acting under the influence of an elder dragon. I can understand the player base being eager to move on and fight another dragon and expand into a new map.
However i do not believe that is the entire plan with the scarlet living story, i see it as a way of bringing friends together (Braham, Rox etc) and to give us a new crew to follow into future battles, like it was way back when Mhenlo and his friends journeyed from Ascalon and beyond.
I know people are crying out that Mordremoth or Primordius are the dragons which are set to appear next, i do however believe that it will be neither of these dragons which set Scarlet on her path.
We voted Ellen into the captains council over Evon and didn’t see the fall of Abbadon, i do believe that Scarlet has been influenced by Abbadon into bringing about another Nightfall.
My two cents, simply because i don’t think that its going to be the influence of a dragon which sets us on our next journey.
Bring on the Hall of Heroes, Underworld and Fissure of Woe.
Why are Scarlet's allies still following her
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

I see a lot of posts saying “why couldn’t the molten alliance form without scarlet?”, well it’s as simple as this:
Two factions of two separate races each with its own goals, they need someone to broker deals between both factions to make the alliance work, which is where scarlet comes in. She’s a neutral party and acts similarly to Trahearne in the personal story, while she may not be a huge figure to both factions, they believe that they can use Scarlet to better their own gains from the alliance and gain an upper hand on the other. However they do not realize they are simply being manipulated by her for grander purposes.
In regards to why the factions are still following her, while shes not winning every small battle she’s getting what she needs to from each encounter and i believe that they see this, from where she started to where she is now its been a massive leap forward.
Scarlet has an armada of airships with powerful weaponry attached to them, Sky Pirates for aerial deployment, Charr & Dredge for ground deployment with powerful weaponry, Krait for aquatic deployment and the nightmare court for manipulation of the oppositions minds. Her watchwork constructions include the marionette and the obscured cannon in the sky.
If i were a member of any of these factions i would stay where i was because this crazy tree knows how to do terror right.
I’m gonna say this because it really needs to be said.
They clearly stated that the changes to dungeons were going to be account bound.
To encourage players to participate in a wider array of dungeon content, we’ve designed the system so if you complete the same dungeon path twice in one day, you’ll receive the normal reward for completion, but won’t receive the bonus gold reward again during that day.
source; https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
That means that 20 tokens is the base rate of reward for each dungeon path and anything else you get was bonus. That’s why when people were running a multiple path they were getting less tokens until they hit on the base tokens (20)
I will admit it looks slightly poorly worded, it could have said bonus rewards or bonus gold and tokens but it assumed that the average reader understood that there was a bonus element to the tokens received also.
You can argue that this is the worst thing to hit the game because Anet are Altist all you want, this change is actually a good thing. just because you cant grind out a dungeon set in 2 days with 6 characters anymore dosn’t mean its hard to get gear for alts, all those badges of honor from your achievement rewards, guess what you can actually buy gear with them in WvW, shocker i know!
arcana & the rest who post like him… please ppl, stop offering to teach me the game. It makes me laugh.
It is not that our new team cannot hold our own against the ‘top’ teams, and we need advice or pitty if we get matched up against them.
I was simply commenting how to make 5v5 better and what aspects of it make it dumb and boring and unappealing to the wider population.
If you think that 5v5 can become esport and widely followed by audiences because top teams are ‘fast rezzers’, or because upstate is dominated by AOE spam, then you are sorely mistaken. What people want to see is exactly what this game currently makes impossible because of the bad downstate design: They want to see one guy coming in and in 2 minute fight bringing down 3 guys turning around the fight. Can you imagine audience watching 4 guys insta rezz their downed teammate and they all go ‘ahh-ohh-what-an-amazing-skill’…just LOL at you. Can you imagine them admire at the AOE spam of team composed of AOE classes? again LOL at you. As it currently stands, 5v5 is beyond boring, stupid and unwatchable.
Game killed heroes just by bad design of the downed state. And without heroes, you will not have esport and you will not have audiences. Ppl want to see Jordan kick kitten
Top teams wont always insta-res there may be better situations to down two people and then res or stomp to res their team mate.
Tell me what the problem with AoE is? cluster bomb spam? ele fire fields? every AoE has a clearly marked area which is avoidable and again this is part of the strategy you can either stand in it and take damage or you can stay out of it or better yet down the player spamming AoE, they cant use the skills when their downed.
5v5 wont be made better by removing one of the core mechanics because you believe that a single glass cannon should be heroing around killing everything, you know what the meta would be 5 basilisk venom thieves and that would be truly boring to play and watch.
You guys need to ask yourself if gaming population is going to join and stay in 5v5 in order to play the mode where the most important aspect of the game is “downed state management” and “upstate management” is (mostly) dumbed down to AOE spam.
So far it did not work, but if you think it is going to be fine from now on then ok.You can talk about the love ‘vast majority of ppl you know’ has for the current state of 5v5, but that does not fit the reality in which 5v5 is a dead game currently.
The problem is there’s too much of an emphasis on 8v8 in hot join, 5v5 servers are all but dead unless your testing a build or playing tournament pvp, i’d prefer to see a shift in the hot join away from 8v8 and into 5v5 only and a better scoring system, but lets just actually discuss how it is right now.
“Upstate management” in tPvP is more than just laying down your AoE abilities, its about controlling the most important areas (cap points & buffs) and not allowing your opponent to capture them and while ensuring your best chances to capture them. Typically through the use of stability/fear/knockback/burst to neutralize your opponents effectiveness through numbers or superior positioning.
“Downstate management” in tPvP is again about control, you only need to take care of an opponent when he is a threat to your objectives (cap points & buffs) being able to effectively down your opponent at the correct time allows you the extra time to 1. recover your position 2. nullify their effectiveness 3. move to another target and again down & take them out of the game.
If your bunker is killed while defending your point and you take over defense at the point, being able to control your opponent’s downstate and your own becomes key.
example:
You: Warrior
Teammate: Bunker
Your bunker dies and you as a warrior then step in to defend the point, you are able to down your opponent but he also downs you too. Opponent’s team mate comes in and has 2 options: 1. Stomp you 2. Revive team mate. If he goes for option 1. you have your knockdown to interrupt the stomp, If he goes for option 2. he’s got a chance to revive his team mate before you can activate your vengeance and stomp his team mate and get a full rally.
All of this is happening in the 14 seconds + run time for your bunker to get to your point and support you, this is where the true skill of managing downstate lies. You’re still in control of the point and gaining points for every tic, your opponent is downed and you force your opponent into making a tough decision.
People who understand this understand how important it is tactically to competitive level pvp, unfortunately it isn’t covered in general hot join play and is only learned through playing with team mates and playing against better teams.
Having played around with life stealing builds i can easily say it just doesn’t work, here’s why:
1. Life Steal doesn’t drain health from your opponent, so its all down to your weapon/skills to do all the damage and if your using a life steal build your wanting to use daggers. Signet of Malice also doesn’t steal health, its health on attack.
2. Daggers suck for necromancer, it puts you in melee combat almost constantly with only 1 immobilize and no cripples you’re chasing after targets and being unable to catch them.
3. You have to put 30 points into Blood if you’re doing a Necro drain build so you can pick up : Bloodthirst, Vampiric Precision & Dagger Mastery/Quickening Thirst. This is alot of talents to put into healing power, yes some of the Life Steal skills scale with healing but they don’t heal enough to keep you alive.
4. Sigil of Superior Blood is 30% chance on Crit (Requires high precision) every 2 Seconds. Also dosn’t heal very well and when you are in a high aoe situation it dosn’t end well. Vampiric Precision is also steal on crit which means you need a high crit build which lowers your survivability quite drastically.
I don’t know why you people are whining about Down State, its an aspect of PvP that is easily controllable and if you’re playing tournaments its the way you can easily outplay your opponents and get yourself the win.
You can easily apply fear/knockdown to interrupt revives on the downed person, you can burst down the ressers themselves or you can control where & when you down an opponent and you can also just quickness stomp if you have it available.
Having 4 people ressing a single target is quick, but its at a loss of damaging opponents and defending themselves it’s an ideal time to burst down another target leave them ressing, don’t forget you still get a penalty for being downed.
You shouldn’t be looking to automatically stomp anyone except a warrior unless they are defending a cap point, downed state is essentially half a player and being able to keep them from healing themselves with a single attack or condition gives you an even bigger advantage.
5 vs 5 is more about skilled play rather than zerg rushing like the 8 vs 8 hot joins.
My question is When will we be seeing new storylines involving Destiny’s Edge & the Elder Dragons? and will we ever see a change from the effects of Trahearne’s actions in the story leading up to Zhaitan?
Occasionally when fighting the Champion Grawl Shaman one of the Veteran spawns will instantly teleport from the back and push one of the captives into the lava, is this a bug or is it something thats supposed to happen, theres no time to react when it does it either.
I’m getting disconnected every 30mins on the dot, it’s making it very difficult for me to participate in guild WvW events.
I am not using the authenticator app. Any suggestions?
Why hasn’t the issue of being able to portal entire zergs into the boss rooms of keeps been dealt with?
Legitimate players have to attack two gates to fight for the keep itself, and 3mins later they lose the keep because a mesmer is able to portal 40+ people directly into the boss room and kill the boss under your nose with 0 warning.
I can understand that a mesmer’s portal ability is part of its uniqueness, but why not limit it to party only?
