I don’t know if it’s supposed to be this way, but it’s getting really annoying – i’m running my minionmancer, doing wc in metrica and after being summoned my minions die in one moment with no reason(at least no reason i can see) – this a new bug?
This post is a perfect example of how the game mechanics are firstly being misunderstood & exploited. And when devs try to remind that there is more than just grinding champs over and over and over and over again people start to loose their minds. I guess these are the same “veteran” players that imply that mechanics were “dumbed down”. The same “veterans” that brag about having 16 fully asc/leg chars, who then b**ch about lack of new content. Am i the only one to see the irony here?
I have a solution though – these people could petition Anet to create a special train simulator where you could mash one button infinitely over infinite amount of same levels – that’ll really perfect their “skills”.

Greetings! Don’t let the whining on the forums put you down – the game is great if you play it at a steady pace and don’t rush it – learn the lore, love the process and you’ll have a wonderful time. Also alot of good people in the community.
This is THE best mmo i’ve played.Yes – it has flaws and i’d be happy if the dialogue system was taken from SWTOR, as well as mounts & (guild) strongholds, but then again – we can’t have everything. Most importantly – many of my irl friends play it, and some lazy sunday hangovernoons wouldn’t be as funny and packed with virtual action if not for Guild Wars 2. Thank you, and keep up the great work Anet!
Why are people obsessed with mounts? If they want them so bad, let’s hope ANet adds them with a few twist:
- 2000 gems per mount,
- Movement speed decreased by 25%,
- Once locked by an enemy, the mount runs away and the player has to by a new one
- Mounts need food daily, thrice a day, each time costing 125 gems. This way, we won’t see these things around much, and those who want them will spend their time riding in Lion’s Arch.
Ah, now i really feel that i’m back. Good old forum sarcasm
Rauderi & Obtena – thank you both, as i see not much has really changed in the terms of argumentation on both topics , so i guess i’ll go for the new LS content & new fractals
Thanks, Olba! I for one would really love to see mounts being implemented some day, because more content imo is always better.

Hello,
After being away for quite some time, i’ve decided to return to the wonderful world of Tyria. Alot of content was added & many changes implemented, but one thing that still bothers me – is there any chance of ever having mounts or some sort of player housing in GW2?Have there been any dev hints about it?What are the argumentes for\against it?
Merry Christmas, people!
How can you get more than couple of gold from farming?I only get masterworks from boxes, which i disassemble..
Hi, i’m trying to build my first warrior character, so i’m interested – what would be the best DPS build for GS & Axe/Axe combination?
Hy, recently i hit 80 with my thief character and i am now wondering what gear should i go for. I prefer going for pistol/pistol & dagger/dagger build with traits – 10/30/0/0/30. Is there any point spending money on TP to get exotic sets(like assassin’s or berserkers)? Right now it seems that i can’t get my group convinced to go dungeoning, so that way of getting gear is off and my crafting(leatherworking & weaponsmithing) is rather low. Also – what rune sets should i go for? What can you suggest me? Thanks in advance.

Two other ways to get exotic gear which haven’t been mentioned yet:
1) Buy it with karma from the temples in Orr. Karma isn’t as easy to get as it used to be but you might still have enough, when I got my first character to level 80 I realised I had enough karma saved up for 2 sets.
2) Get it in WvW using badges of honour. You normally get these from playing WvW, but you also get them in fairly large numbers from the achievement chests.
Thanks! How much karma are we talking about per set(average)?
Woah, 150g in 10 hours of farming? O_o
Count me inWith a healthy amount of MF. As in, omnoms(30) + birthday booster(100) + Luck(100) + Banner(10), et cetera. But yes, 15g per hour is typical at those levels. Happy farming.
Noted
Also i’ve heard that the dungeons are uber hard, so another question – if i try them(for example Ascalonian Catacombs) with my group(80 lvl thief, 45 lvl thief, 70 lvl elementalist, 45 lvl Guardian, 45 lvl engineer, gear is mostly mw and rares), what is the chance of being torn apart(both in story & exploration modes)?

Count me in
Thanks!Will try to do that!
Hello all,
My main has reached lvl 80, so now as i understand it i should focus on gearing it up. What are the available options(like farming, dungeon crawling, what locations should i focus on, etc). Any advice would be really helpful, because i’m not yet ready to start leveling alts.
I’m also a very casual mmo player and only couple of days ago joined GW2. I would suggest you take thief class – it is not the easiest, but it is also not so complicated that you can’t figure out what to do next. I’m running now with 2 sets – 2 daggers & 2 pistols – both of them are really fun & effective.
Thanks again for all the answers.
At the moment i think i have 2 more enjoyable moments to add to collection :
1) While running to another map section an event started in which i saw about 30-40 other players gathering around a place i just did a couple of quests, just out of nowhere there appeared this massive Champion of Sons of Svanir who started making portals, and summoning hurricanes and ice storms, and all of this while these 30 to 40 other players were smashing him. Lighting and gunpowder was in the air and it felt so godkitten epic. I don’t know the cause, be it teethgrinding epic gameplay or the northern setup, but for the first time in mmo the action felt like it was really meaningfull and wasn’t meant mainly only for the loot. And the fact that it wasn’t some high level dungeon, but an action event in an open field.Wow.Just..wow.
2) Maybe not as epic but still really made my evening. While questing, me & a friend of mine came to a fort that was being attacked by sons of svanir from time to time. Having played other mmo like games a little, i didn’t feel threatened by any of that story fluff, because the mechanics of mmo’s stated that character hubs are not accessible to mobs, not even speaking about the possibility of a whole wipeout. So we went on questing, and eventually came by an event in which we had to escort trading caravan back to the fort i was talking about. Considering all said above, imagine my surprise when we came by the fort and the caravaner told me that he won’t go there because it’s occupied by sons of svanir and that someone should put a stop to this. So we went there and rescued the brave lionheart fellows from the tyranny of these fanatics. It was absolutely fan-tas-tic.
All and all i’m finding this game more & more amazing ^^

@Everyone
Thank you for the warm welcome
I’m really glad that i finally stumbled upon a nice and (mostly)positive thinking game community, that doesn’t focus on nihilism
@GrandmaFunk – Thanks for the advice, i’m sure i will be doing a lot of looking up
@Vayne & Latinkuro – thank you for your positive feedback
It’s nice to see positive attitude(which is rather rare nowdays as it seems), especially on a MMORPG forum(SWTOR forums being as a prime example of bad community in my case).
And yes – the blurry borders between the roles of characters in party is definitely one of the best things.
@Turtle Dragon – well, as these are my initial impressions, i guess i will make a more stable opinion later through the game. Thanks for the warning, though
@Caramel Ham – The same issue was with SWTOR, but with one main difference as i see it – Apart from SWTOR story it’s gameplay was terribly boring and uninventive, which really made leveling more like a chore between the cutscenes. In GW2 case i see the leveling is really fluid and rewarding, and quests maybe don’t have pretty detailed movie like cutscenes, but their design(even for the secondary types) is really addictivly great. As to endgame..which mmo has enough of it apart from WoW nowdays?Considering GW2 is just 1 year old, i say it must be given time to improve on those problem topics.
P.S. Sorry if my english is rusty
So i have been rather skeptical about GW2 at first, mainly because i’m not so much into mmo’s i guess. I tried WoW and it didn’t get to me, i tried SWTOR – and apart from the story missions it was boring as hell, i tried Tera and apart from being pretty it looked like a manequin – fancy clothes on the outside, stale plastic on the inside.
Some time ago, a couple of my friends started playing GW2 and their impressions were something like “omfg this is the best mmo ever made, you have to try it pronto!”. As i said, i was skeptical at first, but as time passed i became more and more interested until finally yesterday i purchased it.
First of all i would like to say that the download speed for the client is just ridiculously low(my ips provides a connection of average 100 – 200 mbit/s), but as i was at work while it downloaded, i guess it’s not a big problem anyway.
And then there was the moment of character creation..and then there were the first quests in the Norn homeland, and then my friends joined and their high levels downscaled so we could play together…public events, inventory & craft system, story, jumping sections, vistas, questing, leveling..sorry, i’m just so overwhelmed by all of this that my overexcited emotions can’t be put on a hold.
The base line – At this moment this game is the best massive multiplayer experience i have ever been part of, and the fact that i’ve just scratched the surface, in my opinion, makes it one of the best gaming experiences i have had this year(which has been rather dissapointing in the case of PC gaming, at least for me).
Thank you Arena.net!Keep up the good work!
