The notification of this change was extremely poor. If I had known before today I could have bought a lifetime supply. Now I have to waste my time because of awful communication. Rollback this horrible change please.

Hello Mike,

Thank you for the transparency and announcement. While this is very disappointing for me I appreciate that it was presented in such a manner and I would much rather have found out this way than have waited a year with still no weapons.

So in the manner of communication I am happy that you are informing us of the machinations behind closed doors. Please do not be discouraged by the negativity (and I can see that you aren’t), it is great for the players, community, and the life of the game that you are taking time to communicate little state of the game changes like this. So thank you.

However, that being said this is a very unfortunate piece of news. This feature was heavily marketed pre-HoT and now will not be delivered. I saw that you addressed that you do not feel HoT was partially delivered because the teams are working hard on delivering content continually. I get that. But this is still exciting content to me that was promised in the same breath as an expansion was sold and now we aren’t receiving it.

So what I say now is, I hope there is good news. LW S3 is not exciting to me and will have to be a large step up from HoT story (which I thought was wildly mediocre at the best of times) and an improvement from LW S2 (which at the throwback to GW1 moments.. Facets of Glint.. Ghostly Hero.. I truly enjoyed). I hope resources are allocated to new fun and engaging content, and I hope to hear something other than discontent and bad news soon.

The Losing of pips wouldn’t be that bad if they were even matches.

The irony is there is so many players that you rarely get more than +1, instead you get -2 games. But the point here is, even if you lose against a premade you can win league pips, in theory.

Here is the problem

Even in Emerald grinding is very hard, you HAVE to win 5 straight matches to ensure a safe tier spot. As a solo q player, How often will that happen?

Or winning 2-3 and losing 1-2 a few times. 5 Wins in a row is not the only way to progress, that’s kind of silly to expect..

The problem that I’m running into is I will win 2 games, gain 2 pips. Lose 1 game. Lose 2 pips. And the games that I lose I don’t just lose. I get ANNIHILATED. It is clearly individuals who tanked their MMR rating to get a good matchup. Meanwhile I try to play the game as intended and end up wasting hours getting out-exploited.

This is a broken system. Threatening to ban people that manipulate it will get nowhere. This is not an effective way to fix this clearly ineffective design. And displaying the starting ranks and potential pip win/loss will not improve the situation. It will just give a metric to track MMR tanking.

Guild Hall Upgrades - Donation Rewards

There is currently no reward for those donating to Guild Hall upgrades other than progress toward the completion of the objective.

In community-type donation systems like this, some other games provide players with a currency or some individual return for instant donations. This encourages players to complete a larger objective by providing a short term goal.

As it stands now, the altruism of a few individuals carries the burden of high-cost upgrades while the motivation for most is to not donate and reap the rewards. This is furthered by there being no tracking or ranking system to record the donations. So even if a few drop a huge amount of gold to progress the upgrades, this is still just hearsay. It becomes a black hole for money.

I hope some currency (like guild commendations) might be rewarded by a certain amount of donation such that players have an additional reward they can receive for supporting their guild.

We are a group of friends that have built a community of skilled GW2 players. We number in the 30s. We focus primarily on meta PvE: doing daily dungeon and fractals speed runs. All of us have been playing consistently since launch and are very proficient at all current PvE content. Further we plan to heavily focus on the new Fractals and raids when those come. We are looking for all newcomers and all levels of skill. There is a place for hardcore speedrunners down to players trying to learn dungeons, provided that you are friendly and willing to listen to advice. We are willing to teach or help with all aspects of the game.

Outside of PvE, we have a fair PvP presence and form for games when someone voices the desire. We form small roam groups on Isle of Janthir server (where most of us are), but we also have some people on Tarnished coast and are not exclusive with regards to servers. We do not however, actively do server-based WvW. We frequently command in Edge of the Mists for karma train and casual zerg battling. We work closely with a few other guilds to help accomplish our players needs whatever they may be.

We have a Teamspeak server and a private PvP room for dailies, dueling, and grinding.

We are on NA timezones and generally play after 7 EST. We do not demand that you represent us but request that you do it when you join us for activities. Mostly we are a community of friendly and skilled players and if you are interested in playing GW2 we would love to have you join us

Legendary Weapon Stat Swapping

Giver’s is very useful for certain builds focused on conditions. I didn’t realize it wasn’t a possibility until I made a legendary and then intended to use it with Giver’s stat on an alt. It’s not a huge deal as I just went and bought an exotic but it’s just strange. It does give me hope that we can now get Zealot’s and Nomad’s stats though. Glad these changes were made.

To my knowledge, you can’t have an ascended weapon with Giver’s stats either yet so maybe that’s why this isn’t swappable on legendaries yet.

Giver’s for instance has been around for quite some time. Has there been any statement regarding whether this will be possible?

This is what I am worried about most. Could we please get some clarification as to whether the droprate and availability of this recipe is currently functioning as intended?

Other than people’s unfulfilled lust for them what possible reason do you have to think it’s not working as intended?

Well I don’t have proof of how many recipes have dropped but I’ve been carefully watching the TP along with a large number of friends that play the game. Based on that, it seems that the total number that have passed through the TP is much smaller than 100 and my own guess would be that it isn’t more than 20.
TP tracking sites that I am aware of (spidy and tp.net) have not been able to display any metadata on the item and in the actual in game TP, the displayed price is frozen at 999g until you inspect the entry.

So if you consider that the ENTIRE game population has been opening gauntlet chances since the Gauntlet was reopened. (I cannot even fathom how many gauntlet chances that could be total) And the total number of recipes present in the game has caused it’s rarity to allow it to be valued as the most expensive item in the game outside of a full legendary weapon (or the hallowed Perma Hairstyle).

So yes, since you seem to be legitimately questioning the fact, I do believe this item is hyper-rare beyond simply the lust of players for a desirable item.

And given that the droprate is so exceptionally small, it seems highly unlikely that ANET intended for a LS backpiece of this context (continuation of Dwayna, Grenth line) to be so rare. So it seems more likely that the droprate will be adjusted before the Gauntlet closes thereby crashing the TP value of this recipe and completely devaluing the recipes that players currently possess or have unlocked.

Therefore we really need some clarification from an ANET representative that the item is in fact as rare and as valuable as it is currently.

Chaos of Lyssa Backpiece Recipe

Loving this item, especially in continuation with the series of existing Six God’s backpieces.

Could we please get confirmation that the low availability is working as intended?

It would be really nice to affirm if the trade value of this really is ~2000g or whether it will become readily available in the near future.

If it is in fact intended to be this rare, that sounds fine to me. It just makes the item very exclusive.

Mini Caithe/Holo Scarlet Problem

These two minis were introduced as Black Lion Chests drops for the living story where the new Twilight Arbor Aetherblade path was released on October 1st.

Since that time these minis have been continuously dropping from BLCs at a relatively high rate and have saturated the market to the point where people who are interested in the collectable are no longer buying it on the Trading Post.

The minis are now being used due to their relatively low cost as a gambling chip for exotic minis in the Mystic Forge. Considering how careful I have observed ANET’s behavior to be regarding keeping seemingly innocuous items from having massive effects on the economy, it is confusing to me how these minis (I was gone for this but I heard it happened before with the Holographic Risen Knight) can still be put into the Mystic Forge. Especially since the Holographic Risen Knight supposedly had its rarity changed specifically for this reason.

I understand since the announcement of elimination of Set 1 mini packs that there has been a large amount of speculation and resulting price shifting among Set 1 and certain other minis; sometimes as much as 500%. However, the insane depreciation in value of the majority of trade-able rare and exotic minis is now due in large part to the presence of a massive, largely undesired supply of Mini Holo Scarlets and Caithes.

The main reason that I can confidently make this claim regarding these 2 minis having a now overwhelming effect on the larger mini market is that the effects can now be seen in every single trade-able rare/exotic mini from Set 1 and 2 as well as certain Special Category minis with recipes (Mini Steamrider etc). You can now make a mystic forge bet using rare minis for a chance at an exotic mini for ~12g using Caithe/Holo Scarlet. This is a fine market mechanism for bringing the majority of exotic minis closer to the 60g mark (the average cost of an exotic return in the 1 in 5 Mystic forge on a 12g bet). However, the drops in price we are seeing is reaching exotic set prices that haven’t existed since October of last year.

In attempts to create these coveted and “no longer available” Set 1 exotics, Set 2 exotics (less desirable byproducts) are down to 30g. “Failed” gambles with rare results are causing Set 2 rares to drop below 3g. Minis made with recipes including Set minis have dropped to 16g as of today but that is only because they are lagging behind the dropping cost of their components and will likely drop to 10g in the coming weeks. Minis are depreciating by as much as 4 gold per day since the day of mini Scaret/Caithe introduction (see Mini Enraged Twisted Nightmare).

I fear this may be interpreted as a thread whining about the dropping value of items in my collection or devaluation in the economy. That is not the point I am making.

Please consider that Mini Holo Scarlet and Caithe were introduced as BLC drops 4 living stories ago. Since that time they have continued to drop at a high rate and are still usable in the Mystic Forge. This is having a drastic effect on the mini economy simply due to the sheer volume of these minis coming from daily opened BLC. For some people a wild excess of this mini is no doubt leaving what they see as little other option than to put them in the Mystic Forge.

Please consider changing the rarity of these minis or reducing their availability so that their Mystic Forge mechanic does not continue to contribute so significantly to trade-able mini prices.

Hello,

I want to preface this by saying that I have noticed the changes to item icons in the past such as “Norn” weapons (and many more) and more recently Arah Dungeon Merchant weapons. I’m sure I am missing many other cases but my point is that I generally love it when a new icon comes. It’s exciting and it adds variety.

However, I would hope that someday Norn Cultural Armor could find itself receiving some icon updates. Since release the icons have been the same as Basic rarity white armor that commonly drops in the world. This is frustrating in the inventory and since the cost and rarity of the item is not reflected in the icon.

Could we please get something to do with our excess Ascended Items other than merching/destroying them? For example, Ascended rings from fractals. If you are do this dungeon frequently, chances are you have experienced an excess.

Some ideas I can think of might be: salvageable for ecto, possibility to put into mystic forge and get a random back (same as exotics/rares?), mystic forge recipe to make something out of them, sell-able on the TP… just something. =)

So many karma, dungeon token purchases, etc have been given confirm action possibilities. Please extend this to unlocking rare dyes.

I got my first Celestial dye, put it on a mule character to wait til I wanted to use it. Double clicking in inventory -> bank tab to move items off the mule. Accidentally double click in actual inventory window. Use Celestial dye on mule character… nooooo…

World Chest Rewards not 80 on a level 80

Hello,

This has been a consistent problem with my account and I hope it can be addressed as working as intended or made aware of as a bug.

World completion chests that are Splendid level and below have not been giving my characters level 80 rewards on my level 80 character.

Specific examples include completion of the Foulbear Kraal world event in Fields of Ruin and killing Rhendak in the Flame Temple Tombs.

Consistently this has been a problem for me and I can report a current instance of opening the Splended Chest at the end of the Foulbear Kraal chain and receiving level 30-39 rewards as a level 80.

My party composition was 3 level 80’s (including me), a level 67 and a level 34. The level 80’s received level appropriate rewards, as did each other member while I received the lower level rewards.

Could this be an issue specific to my account? Is this working as intended?

Dear ArenaNet,

It is my feeling that Guildwars1 put a lot of resources and incredible imagination into making an amazing, unforgettable story, environment, and feeling in the Cantha expansion. I feel that adding this to GW2 would not detract in any way from a universal theming, it would be a fantastic addition that would continue an established legacy of providing the most breathtaking visual-candy experience in gaming by returning and expanding on an existing phenomenal theme.

In less flowery words. I loved Cantha. It was one of my favorite parts of GW1. I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for it in GW2 and hearing that it may not happen is so sad. Please, please consider introducing this content as you once did in GW1.
