I came here just to find this thread because I expected it would exist.

I need a custom ui. Something to help usability for the vision impaired. I can’t really see who has retaliation with all the chaos going on. If I could emphasize all the buffs or even key buffs that I need to deal with. That’s my first vision issue. Chat font size being another. Being able to bring player and target bars to lower screen would be a big help for me.

In tier 2 wvw I have been running full celestial dagger/warhorn Tempest with very good success. It works great as frontline. I have a boon duration build that allows me to give a stack of 19 might to 5 others. That buff is very noticeable. The only time I had trouble in 1v1 was with good rangers. Not sure which builds, Longbow something or another. The buffs are easy enough to stack in fight. WH allows to due a lot of healing while moving. Good for CMDR healing. With buff % build you need to keep the buffs rolling or go some other earth, temp, water build.

Celestial to me is great if you use all of the stats. It’s not bursty by nature, it survivability though. I wouldn’t use it in a situation that requires massive dps.

A contest to create new maps. Winner gets job at Anet with design Dept or 10k US dollars. Something like that. Money is saved and money is made on both ends, both Anet and participants win. If you can’t give us the creation software than maybe it can be done through cloud design software? It’s not unheard of to relinquish a little publishing power to your player base.

As the maps are now. I have spent a fair amount of time there. I don’t like the distances. Who wants to defend these remote places? Not too many. It’s a long hike from one end of the map to the other. Also, everyone who I questioned wanted flying capabilities in the new maps. That would speed things up.

I have had trouble with this. I used a few things from bank, deleted all beta char to try over and found my bank to be depleted. In other words, anything you use from bank will forever be gone in beta. No way to replenish. Now I need gems for my accessories, siege, and some ascended items that I can no longer access because this iteration of stuff disappears when you delete your beta toons.

Oh yeah and I can’t transmute now because I used the charges in my previous beta char.

Makes me sick seeing fair weather attitude profiting GW2 in transfer fees and watching a evenly matched adversary get pumped on t1 steroids like a mutant. Here is strategy now. See mutant blob, run. I feel like a fool for buying xpac if this is how it will be.

The % of people that do like this should dwindle soon.

The ones not complaining are doing the most boring k-train or power leveling. I was doing it for a very long time and I can tell you, the fights were boring, costly (maybe ANET like this?) and very, very grindy. I got my xp because that carrot on a stick was there and hard to resist but I would quit without permanently if this remained.

I believe gamers want a dialog with the developers and this just shows a disconnect there. I usually picture some person with an MBA trying to steer things in a way to make more money. Maybe that secret for making money is with working closer with players. Maybe it seems like I’m over thinking this but I don’t think so. Gamers desperately want a world pvp game where the company loves the game and invests in the world pvp over time to keep it fresh. Maybe I will have to go back to Warhammer. jk

This is a quote of which is identical to Abraham Lincoln’s own quote with the exception of one word. Swap “please” with “fool”. It works equally well either way. Hopefully you get the context of my second quote. Making the new xpac package pricing good for most people might be the best we can hope for. We can’t necessarily hope for perfect for everyone.

Simply put, I would like to know what the various top WvW servers are like. I have 6 lvl 80s but haven’t played in ages. Would like to decide where to go.

It would help if you said what server/tier your on now, and what server/tier your interested in learning about as they as all different and have different things to offer.
Also should add what your playstyle is like, what timezone your active in, and why you are looking to move etc etc.

As my friend Mishi said, your not going to get much straight objective based answers asking vague questions, people will simply try to plug their own server bias into the thread.

And remember this, no server is “better” then the other, every server has at some point engaged in shameful and shady behavior, servers are just made up virtual entities. Its people that populate them, anything you find in one, you will find in the other, there are differences yes, but many similarities particularily in behavior, just keep that in mind.

It’s good advice and all but I just wanted to know opinions and some basics. I received that info from some of the brief replies. I have been in SBI when it was at and near top. I left and came back to an abandoned WvW server, relatively speaking. Tried to stay with it but people at bottom usually aren’t ambitious enough to move up ranks.

I decided to a 2nd tier because I want to contend. Had to sacrifice my 80s to move since I don’t have the $20 (disabled from workplace injury). Deleted and moved already.

SBI. The smoldering corpse that once was a giant. Being on a lowish server would be ok as long as more people want to strive to become better. There are a few good ones. The attitude can be weak at times. Oh you want meeee to spend shinies on siege?

I have 3 lvl 80’s and my only real interest is WvW. I joined a server where wvw was the focus. Took a break from the game, came back and I was stranded on a mediocre server. Why would I call it that? 2 of the better Commanders claim that winning is not even their goal. The chance to win is lost when the best players don’t even want to win. This effects the game overall when there is apathy like that. I want to belong to a server with more players who care about winning but there is no honor in jumping to any team with winners . It would be good to see the tag system extended somehow.

Some points I have:

1. How to we give lower servers a reason win?
2. Server population balance.
3. Sargent tags? Too many players lost when CMDR is gone.
4. Better large group organization interface.

I have some off the wall ideas that interest me.

What if the lower servers that seem to have less purpose could form a temporary alliance that would allow them to combine with another server in order to make it full sized? It would only last one week and it would raise their servers ranking in some way.

Next. Have something(s) hidden in the WvW world. When found it would be valuable or a buff or increase + points for realm. There would be a danger in looking for them though.

Next. A large npc (or stealthed) that would not be possible to kill or it would take something over-the-top to kill it. It would just roam and kill. It could be good for laughs, make the landscape more dangerous and give the world some interest to it.

Anyway, I am leaving GW2 because I find myself stuck on a server with people that don’t care about winning so what’s the reason to even play?

I’m currently WvW rank 35 I believe. I have never had orders to portal bomb. Why? I honestly believe their is a stigma but I can’t quite place it. Is it too easy? There are countless situations in battle where we give them time to see us march our way up in plain sight when the element of surprise is lost. Is it too Freudian? Do you hate pink?

What do the big boy servers use?

Look at how WvW functions during times when all 3 realms are at full capacity. You will notice WvW at its most balanced. Compare that to off peak times. The same 3 realms that might have been a close match are destroyed by the realm with the off peak players. When you break it down the real winners are win at meta gaming. Meta gaming is king. Arrange for an alliance to recruit guilds evenly across all time zones. ArenaNet’s answer, as I read between the lines, is that you don’t have a solution to keep it balanced. I don’t have the answer either. I’m not doing WvW where it was my main interest. I’m not doing it because I can’t work all night to gain ground and watch it destroyed when my server logs off. It’s just absurd and I don’t care how good you are you can’t win when your server logs off and the other server, HoD, pounds you into the dust with a full sized army. No I don’t blame them. They won the meta gaming war by preparing the server/realm/alliance ahead of time. Something I tried to warn my people about but nobody took it serious that we needed full global time coverage to win. So hats off to HoD.

As of now I would prefer no score. I’m for having a score if… someone figures out how to address the meta gaming problem. If there was a way to load balance servers with with geographic virtualization then you could make teams of 2 or more servers together, depending on time zone. Not sure if that is possible but there you go. Just my 2 cents.
