The key is to not lose the keep in the first place.
That being said, Devona’s Rest held 98% of WvW about 12 hours ago, and last I heard, they now control about half. Why? Because the servers who lost their stuff logged on and started re-taking stuff.
Seriously, it’s not that hard. Especially since you can’t port to a keep that’s under attack. I’ve taken a garrison where our odds were 1-1 and the defenders had catapults and stuff, and lost to the same. The game is very decently balanced.
So your on a medium populated server??? you have 24/7 coverge so you have no idea about this issue imo. You may infact be using and and pretending it is legitimate…….
Right now we are pinned back almost at our respawn, yes we have a fair share of the map, but we have wiped the enemy 4 times, only for them to spwn INVULNERABLE, only for them to port in with supplies and repair the keep doors….we are not a zerg of 50+ we are a medium pop server punching well above its weight.
This is a massive issue. What will happen from now on is that servers will cap kees at night build waypoints, and be able to port in from anywhere on the map (supply points, defending other keeps, after wiping an enemy distraction) and the simply resupply etc…..
Again, why not just rush out at 2:30 minutes on the timer, if you die, you can respawn at the keep within 30 seconds…………even less time than it takes for the attackers to run towards their own overlook!
It is a nice idea having everyone on the same teamspeak, making communication as simple as t could possibly be. The teamspeak is after all open for all SFR community access. I hope we can get more guilds joining the community and being a part of making this community something special.
The really great thing with this server, is that small guilds can make a large difference, and contribute to making the WvW server community better
also running back with supply and waiting for the portal………etc.
So Arenanet has fixed orbs by temporary removal, but we still have the terrible issue of unlimited defenders able to port into any keep with a way-point every 3 minutes even if it is on the other side of the map (eternal battlegrounds). Not only can they port in, they have the invulnerable buff so they cannot be hit when ported.
This is a serious issue, as it renders tactics useless, it means that dieing has basically no consequence if you die when there are 30 seconds left of the stupid keep defense quest, as within 35seconds you will be back in the fight…… it means that to take a keep it can mean killing upto 150 enemies every 3 minutes, and when you die (even if it is outside of your own res point) you have further to run than the enemy who has taken your Overlook in Eternal Battlegrounds…..
When you are outnumbered, it is impossible to retake your home overlook due to this.
This really needs fixing ASAP, the ‘defend your keep’ quest should not interfere with spawn point, if is contested do not let the waypoint stand. Either that or remove waypoints ‘temporarily’ as with the orbs, you are once again giving a massive massive advantage to the enemy. (especially if being doubleteamed by two servers and outmanned at the same time)
The OP suggests an innovative way of making the capturing and defending of keeps useful. There definately needs to be with a change to the scoring system, as I have vocally promoted and suggested, die to the insignificance of the points generated during peak times, the only real significance of peak times is to keep you team in it, just to wait for the evening so you can basically help yourself to a free 100% bonus points if you rule the map by doing PVE against little or no enemy. Its pretty rediculous.
Here here for change, good suggestion OP, maybe this could be part of dumbing down the significance of map capping during the night, the team wont nearly generate as many points by simply taking the map free of competition, it also means defense is imperitive to hold your lead.
Rank means nothing but an observation of overnight presence. Its like the greatest misconception of all time considering this to actually mean rank of ability. I dont even know why its published or why people consider it matchmaking, but to match up off peak population vs off peak population.
i have recently pointed this out also, additional evidence would be some people queueing, getting in, and having the ‘outgunned’ buff on them. How is it possible to be in a queue when your team dont have enough players inside the map, additionally, the other team have much much much more players than ones own server.
There is no solution to this because there is no problem. If you log in and the entire map is capped, then guess what – you get to play the hell out of some W3! You’ve got nothing but fun in front of you taking those things back. As MF said, W3 is a 24hr game and that is the nature and point of W3.
You are obviously one of the servers that is taking advantage of this relatively serious scoring issue, your response is completely discredited. The mechanics make you win, not your skill. You do not see an issue because you are blinded by your obsolete awesomeness. Get over yourself. It doesnt work. Do you actually enjoy fighting againt no opposition in your AM capping servers?
If arenanet do not think scoring is an issue, please take away the rankings. They only show how active a server is during the AM capping hours, nothing else. If you were conducting research there is a cause and effect, the cause here is AM Activity, and the effect is RANK due to inevitable points gained against what may be deemed NO OPPOSITION. GG Anet, you are showing us exactly what you have learnt from past 24-7 failures, nothing.
Mike doesnt seem to understand the concept we are having difficulty with….gaining a rediculous lead over night when there are little to no enemies.
I cant believe he has completely oversighted this issue and pretended it doesnt exist, by portraying our suggestions as an attempt to stop players playing at certain times. ‘’Those people should be able to play anytime they want, just like the people who play during prime time.’’, what does this relate to? we are not shutting down the WvW zone, we are bringing to your attention the failure of the scoring system to realise when 100 are fighting 30, and failing to acknowledge the achievments of those 30 holding maybe even 2 or 3 control points on the map vs the 100 that simply faceroll every desolate objective.
Why are you rewarding the taking of an entire map against a handful of players by the ‘bigger’ server? Are you advocating alarm clocking? Are you advocating a rediculous level of hardcore rarely seen before? how about account sharing to ensure accounts are online 24-7? How is this different than one server having 166 per map and the others only having maybe 50 or less per map?
Points should scale accordingly.
I too noticed this numerous times, it makes a lot of effort and time pointless as the objective cannot be taken. Please fix
This game should not be about who is online the most, it should not be decided entirely upon gear, and it is not a job…it is designed for fun.
At present the evenings are not fun when your server are outnumbered. We are talking 2,3 and 4am here not ‘normal’ gaming hours. Guild wars was not designed to make it manditory for you to make 24-7 alliances or you fail ideology. Anet needs to fix the scoring system so that offpeak hours are OFFPEAK, and scoring is much less of an issue with night capping….meaning aussie players will gravitate to servers closer to teir PEAK time, and fight each other or with others who are of a similar hourly system.
Right now WvW is a mess, from scoring to prime time not even meaning anything due to night capping and the points gap created by exploiting low population hours to ghost enemies. It really needs fixing, the scoring system is ONLY gratified by those who are winning as a result of night capping.
