I loved the way ANet managed to create such an awesome atmosphere of Halloweeny/creepy/funness. All the environment changes (Lion’s Arch was a work of art) were fantastic, and I loved that there were options for people who PVP as well as PVEers. Putting candy corn nodes in every map was creative and cute. I really enjoyed it. However, a couple days in my holiday became overshadowed by The Crossing. At first we found out it was an insane ~150G grind, and I decided to farm holiday mats and craft later, knowing I probably wouldn’t even want the thing by the time I would be able to afford 100 crystal lodestones. Then, the weapons started dropping in the Labyrinth! They were on the TP! Half an hour after I get to the Lab, ANet implements the patch that makes the chests drop 2 greens once a day. I farm MK constantly, scrounge for every last copper in an effort to be able to afford one if I can’t find it. However, I couldn’t do it. One never dropped for me, and by the time I had 20 gold, the prices had gone up above 50. So some people got this weapon for 0 effort -and make no mistake, spamming 1 in a crowd of 50 people requires 0 effort- and the rest of us who can’t afford what’s listed now will have to grind out a mini-legendary for over 100 gold. I’m trying to remember the good things, but this was a really horrible idea. Please, please, please, please in the future do not create such a huge discrepency in the availability of holiday items.

Final Rest, how do you get it?

For the love of God, why is it the one staff I actually like is impossible to get? We can’t give up on this, hopefully we can get a word from a dev.

I think the problem is that there’s no reason to be in the mid-level maps. You have people starting out the first areas, then rush through to Orr. Once you’re 80, there’s really no reason to go back to, for example, Lornar’s Pass. So at any given time, the majority of the population is in Orr/Frostgorge Sound/Lion’s Arch. And as long as people know that’s where they can find other players, it won’t change.

I just don’t understand why the people who could complete this puzzle are so harsh to those who couldn’t. I haven’t seen anyone say they wasted a whole 20 minutes of their life, nerf pl0x. It’s people like me, who have spent so much time trying to do this that it’s embarrassing to say out loud. I’m not doing it for the achievement, my pride just won’t let me lose to a kitten jumping puzzle. My boyfriend did it in a couple hours. He’s really good at games in general, I expected it. I have slow reflexes and poor pattern recognition, but I enjoy challenges. I want to echo what someone else said; I would love crazy hard puzzles like this in the regular content, but not limited holiday stuff. I am honestly happy for people who can do this, but how can you not understand where we’re coming from? It would take me weeks to be able to do this, and I don’t have that option.
If anything, they could have made a couple of difficulties, like in heart challenges with an easy, medium, and hard choice. I wouldn’t even care if you only got the exotic/title for doing it on hard. But I’m left with the loss of more than 8 hours of my life, and nothing else. If I did beat it tomorrow, I wouldn’t be happy. It’d feel like having a tumor removed, probably.

That is exactly how holiday items should be-silly fluff no one is going to be using come Christmas time; that’re more about the fact you were there for the events. It shouldn’t be about crazy grinds for crafting, playing the TP for what you want at a reasonable price, etc. Should be easy and fun and honestly, kinda worthless.

Clarification on the craftable weapons

@ Illgot, the recipes are learnable. So once you spend the Halloween mats for the gift and sigil recipes, you can make them whenever. Really the only thing seems like way too much for me is the lodestones… but last I checked to buy 100 of the fangs or whatevs is a little under 2G, and will go down in the next few days probably.

Ok, I can’t edit my post for some reason but now it looks like the recipe for the sigils are: 250 candy corn, 25 skulls, 25 nougats, and 25 fangs. The sigils themselves are: 100 candy corn, 1 glob of ectoplasm, 1 orichalcum ingot, and 1 lodestone depending on the profession. For the weapon, a total of 2500 candy corn.

@ Cyric, does anyone have a screenshot of the recipe though? Like I said, I’ve seen multiple recipes. That being on the wiki doesn’t make it correct necessarily.

Can we get a definitive list for the recipes for The Crossing, Arachnophobia, and The Mad Moon?
So far everyone seems agreed on the recipes for the gifts:
-250 candy corn
-10 piles of crystalline dust
- 100 nougats/skulls/fangs
-40 Elonian wine

The gifts seem to be:
-250 orichalcum ingots
-100 x lodestones
-20 globs of ectoplasm
-1 gift of knowledge

For the weapons themselves, I have seen several different recipes. Some say the gift, an ori inscription, and the ancient wood or orichalcum weapon parts.
I’ve also seen: 1 Eldritch Scroll, 100 mystic coins, the gift, and some weapons parts.
Now, someone is saying it includes 20 Superior Sigils of Night. I’ve also seen 2 different reicpes for those sigils, neither of which I can discover with my 400 artificing even though I have the supposed ingredients.
So, can we can a definitive answer on the final weapon recipe; and if sigils of the night are required, a set recipe for that?

Sorry for the long post

"Easier" to obtain Halloween Weapons

It’s true the event isn’t over, and some sites have listed new crafted items. For example, there’s a twilight named set of weapons that have one of everything. About the crazy grind staff/bow/shield, I don’t understand the logic at all. This event should be about participating; the prestige should come from having been here to take part, not grinding out a Halloween themed legendary. The recipes are so hard to make because you can make them whenever. But who wants a Halloween bow in December? Why should that be possible?

Question for mystic forge recipes

Sorry, if this is redundant or a dumb question, but can anyone point me to a list of recipes for exotic mystic forge weapons? Not the mystic sword/dagger/staff etc or legendaries, but the named exotics like Tear of Grenth? I can’t find anything recent, thank you!

About holiday weapons/armor

I really hope in future events you make permanent weapons cost much less to craft. For holidays people want fun items they use for a couple months, and put away for next year, or never use again. All of the components required to make the staff/shield/bow are insane (especially the 100 lodestones). It will take most people months to farm the mats for these, and by then they will want Christmas items. The exclusivity of holiday items should be about participation, not crazy grinds. It should be about showing off the fact you took part in GW2 Halloween 2012, not that you chose to spend 3 months farming one of these items instead of a regular legendary.
Why should we be able to craft a Halloween bow 6 months from now? I don’t even…

Not all casuals , working folk , etc agree with the gimme now gimme all crowd.

To me holiday events in games are supposed to be about the time you play, not how much money you have or how much you can grind within a time limit. I expected the Halloween items to be fairly easy to get, kind of like the book reward for Act 1. It should be that next year when you bust out your vintage greatsaw and people ask, “OMG where did you get that?”, you can say “When I was here for Halloween last year”. The exclusivity should not be about making a mini legendary, but about involvement during this short period.

Edit: @ Mithran; the costumes are accountbound, not soulbound. So there is no need to buy more than one.

Light, Medium & Heavy Costumes?

in Halloween Event

Posted by: chimecat.9082

chimecat.9082

Under the style tab in the TP there are town clothes and armor skins; the description will tell you which one. The town clothes can be worn by any character, are accountbound, and last forever. These are worn outside of combat. That means you can buy the witch costume and wear it on one character, then pop it in your bank and use it on an alt later. The armor skins replace the look of a piece of armor, as if you were transmuting it. You can only use the heavy armor skin on heavy armor, which is why your guardian can only use the one.

I don’t understand the idea that DEs are the primary or necessary form of progression. After doing my starting area and getting used to the game, I find myself in a map for:
1. map completion, doesn’t require events
2. personal quest, doesn’t require events; or
3. farming nodes/mats, doesn’t require events

It’s nice to drop by a couple of DEs if they’re nearby, but I don’t focus on them. If that’s what you want to do, be like everyone else and go farm karma in one of the hotspots. You will always find plenty of people around the maps with Shatterer, Claw of Jormag, The Straits of Devastation, and the Cursed Shore. If that bothers you, it’s a little different from saying that you can’t do anything because your current map is empty.

I’m 23 and I love this game as much as I did on day 1, and I play way too much… My boyfriend, who’s 25, and our circle of friends, all in early 20s, left. I’m the last one standing, but I don’t think I’ll be leaving any time soon.

I would really appreciate some way of discouraging people from leaving in the middle of an sPVP game. When I’m playing by myself and randomly join games it happens nearly constantly. The best is when a group of five of the other team come up on you and you realize you’ve only got one teammate right now. Even if it’s something as slight as having to wait 5 mins before you can join another game, there really needs to be an incentive for people to stay in a game and not just dip out the second they start to lose.

As someone else already said, you get a high lvl slot piece from your story quest. You need a lvl 80 gem to upgrade it. You can buy pieces from a guild armorer if your guild has that perk, but they are expensive (1-10 gold depending on the lvl I believe). These are backpacks that show your guild emblem, and they’re hideable. Right now, there are no capes in the game.

I feel the opposite way. I think plenty of scepters look great, even the standard wooden ones. The foci, however, often look silly. Especially the the one that’s a stick with a cowbell on the end.

This is a great idea. Things do start to feel stale a little bit, and with this idea you could switch up your play style a little without needing to find new weapons or abandoning one or two skills you really love. This satisfies people who have an ability on a weapon they personally dislike and people who want more customization.

@ Ralathar: adding these wouldn’t introduce crazy game-changing unbalancable problems. It would be the same as adding a couple new slot skills for each class. And min/maxing doesn’t have to be a bad thing As has been said, people who can’t be bothered don’t have to change a thing.

Orr is really painful to be in. There are too many Risen too close together that aggro from halfway across the map and leash twice as far. I would love it if there was at least one road running through the place that offers relative safe travel. I understand that the level 80 areas should be more challenging, but it’s miserable just to try to get around the map.

As other people have said, waypoint travel costs are too high.
I would like more options for hair styles for all races.
If we can’t have p2p trading or COD, maybe we could have private sales on the trading house. That way you can choose who you sell your item to without having to use the honor system.
