I’ve had problems on and off since reset today. Logging in and changing maps has proved challenging.
Was there some mass train of WvW crafting stations happening that no one was aware of? Last I checked, the only time folks even checked out the crafting tables was in dire necessity.
While I realize the desire for FPS fail while crafting is hard to resist, I daresay most folks did NOT use the crafting tables just for the hell of it. And yes, having something there to encourage to new players to come hang out and check out WvW is helpful.
This is a GAME. It’s fun, a great chance to test out strategy and get some win in your life. It’s not some sort of save-the-world platform that can’t handle having some AFK players on occasion. Does no one here ever have to pee? It’s called life, y’all.
And just for reference: please, by all means, post the next time you get dropped into a META-HAPPY MAP when you go gathering. BY ALL MEANS, I WANT TO KNOW. ‘Cause in all the hours I’ve played—and it’s going on three years of way too many all-nighters—I’ve yet to be plopped down in a busy map when I’m out goofing off. Not with the new system.
Getting rid of bits and pieces that help new players feel comfortable, that aid current players with their playstyle is hardly an inconvenience for the hard-core. While no one will sob over the loss of the crafting stations, it’s also sad to see, as this is a game for many that represents a bit of home and nostalgia. Surely even the most focused gamers can appreciate that.
One would hope.
Talek—try emailing them directly. I have found them very responsive every time.
Qugi—I updated my thread with what worked. Let me know if that helps.
Gang—I contacted Anet regarding the same issue, and I received a very helpful answer that seems to have fixed everything (FPS issue, graphic tearing, other glitches throughout).
The simple answer is to go into system preferences, into your user account, and remove (not uncheck—use the “minus” key to fully remove) the startup items. Then go into your HD/Library/Startup Items (I’m not on my computer, so my order might be wonky) and make sure that is empty. Otherwise, empty it. Empty trash. Restart.
As odd as it sounds, this fixed every issue I had and honestly, the game runs better now than it did before the recent changes.
I should note: I’ve only played it for a day since I did this, but I was on a WvW map, which almost always ruins my FPS and graphics quality, and it was perfect.
Also of note: I play at medium quality graphics, not low.
Couple of things:
1. When my mouse used to do this (often), I found that command+tab out to the desktop (using full screen mode), then returning to the game (don’t quit out) fixed the issue.
2. I recently had major graphic issues with the game that were somehow caused by my startup items. Once I deleted them in system preferences and removed them from the startup folder, I restarted my computer and was golden.
Hope that helps.
This has been (so far) a pretty easy fix. GW2 tech support contacted me not long after my email requesting help, and I deleted all the login items under “user” in system preferences, then deleted all the startup items in the HD’s folder. If someone needs the specific step-by-step directions, let me know. So far, my game’s playing at even better graphic levels than before.
Hey Qugi—thanks for the thread. What’s the answer been? Has there been any response?
I’m wondering if that’s my issue, too, Svensk. I am having a graphic card issue with the lowest settings after a break during the change rollouts. I never looked at FPS prior, but I noticed an issue lately when I was trying to figure out how to fix my graphics.
Use the windowed option. You can’t use full screen with GW2 any other way with dual or more monitors. I run into the same issue, and that’s the only option I’ve found.
Hey Gang:
I took a break for two months while the updates for the skill trees and such were rolled out (got busy with work), and when I came back, I had some major graphic issues.
I’ve yet to figure out how to address this problem. Same computer, some basics as before. I’ve always run at not quite bottom graphics on a late-2013 27" iMac with no issues.
Now, every time I’m on a populated map, my screen tears apart with graphic card issues. I’m running at the lowest possible graphics and still having issues.
I have no problems with other games, so I can only assume something changed during the update? Or could there be something else going on?
I am using the Mac Beta (NOT bootcamped, iow), and I have the most recent iOS update installed.
Anyone else had this issue and resolved it?
Quite agree. Being able to merge guilds would allow more guilds to combine and create a better playing experience for all.
I actually just starting searching around for an answer, and I quite agree. I had a moa pet working, and the NPCs went right past her and came after me. When I put on a dog, I did not have that problem.
Me neither. I am unable to buy anything from her.
Hello! I’m wondering if anyone else has this issue? The Full-Screen Gamma function will not work. When I move the selector on the slider, the lighting changes, but the moment I release the mouse, it goes back to “0” and the lightness recedes. Anyone else have this problem, or know a fix?
Hi everyone!
I am using the mac beta, and while I love it and it works mostly seamlessly (with the exception of the trading company), I do have one issue: I cannot turn my area of effect rings back on.
I checked the “disable AoE rings” box, to see what it would be like without them. I didn’t care for it, so when I went back in to turn them back on, they will not turn on — doesn’t matter if the box is checked or not, I cannot get my AoE rings back. Given how easy it is to lose my cursor while fighting, I need the rings to be effective.
Has anyone else had this issue or know a solution?
Thank you for your help!
Hi guys!
I’m in the Hooligan’s Route trying to get the vista point, and I noticed that I’m unable to adjust my screen brightness. I go into my mac profile (Mac beta) and am able to adjust it for my computer in general, but as soon as I go back into the game, it’s back to being super dark. Advice? I’ve tried restarting, but while my desktop and all other applications are much lighter, GW2 won’t budge.
Same issue here. I’m wondering when it will be fixed?
