Enough is Enough – SPvP’s neglection will be your downfall

With the introduction of the most recent update, the Bazaar of the Four Winds, some things became very clear:
- PvErs are being favoured over PvPers
- ArenaNet is forcing PvPers to PvE in order to get rewards for PvP
(This last topic was obvious for a long time)They assured us PvP rewards would be one of their top focus. With PvP rewards being introduced into Achievement Chests what does this mean for their goal?
PvErs have an easy access into the Achievement Score, so they will have an easier way into those PvP rewards and Zenith Weapons (which they can choose to use in PvE or PvP as they please).
Meanwhile, the majority of PvP-dedicated players dont get such an easy access to Achievements points, since Achievements in PvP is a painfully-long and dry road, absent of proper rewards.
An example of how imbalanced things are currently:.
In order to get my dragon wings in PvP I was forced into grinding PvE, just so I could use them in PvP, that is mockery and downright insulting.Now on to a silly comparison since Bazaar of the Four Winds patch:
- PvErs can walk in to the Mists and they have access to the same stats (just for the sake of the comparison, I agree stats in PvP should be equal) and new shiny armor from PvE content, while PvPers need to grind for months to get the dungeon-PvE equivalent armor in PvP (PvErs can just grind it in a week or days, example, Citadel of Flame armor).
- PvPers walk into PvE and they have no stats whatsoever, no armor whatsoever, not even some shiny armor-skin from PvP events, usable in PvE, because there is none.
See where Im getting at? There is NO equality between PvE and PvP.
They are not separated enough to be fair for both of them!Where are our rewards?
In Guild Wars 1 we had this amazing continous global tournament, the Heroes Ascent. If you won you would get some good-looking PvP gear, a chance to get a unique minipet to that chest and your team’s name would be broadcasted throughout the server chat. How awesome was that?
And we aren’t even going to talk about the different game modes HA had, because thats another story for another time. There are more pressing matters exisiting for far too long!First of all, I wanted to get this out of my chest and get your feedback on this. Devs reading this through, answers are needed to slow down the tides of frustated PvPers. Believe me when I say this topic it’s not the vocal minority.
- This is NOT good for the game as a whole, if a SPvPer was interviewed for a very important publication and asked his opinion about the game, would you be calm or anxious ArenaNet? If I were working in there I would be running to shut the guy up!
Things need to change.
Im hoping this to be a wake-up call for ArenaNet.

In my personal opinion this is the worst map to be designed in this game so far. It promotes too much CC and antigame, instead of game.
Sure, it is fun to throw characters down and see them die, but it is not fair for a player that tries to think and enjoy the profession he/she created. It feels like a constant hunt for disabling control, throw people down, and then laugh at them. It is simply not fair.
So, in my opinion it is fun, but it clearly does not worth to be included inside tournaments. For one, I joined this game to play a game, not an antigame.

Competitive? The first rule of a game being successful is it has to be fun. Balance is secondary to fun, and mind you, I play a warrior… I know all about poor balance.
It is assumed that this is an e-sports.
I enjoy if I can be competitive. How you can have fun on a map where luck plays for you?It’s no e-sport. Never has been and never will be.
This map doesn’t encourage new builds, it pigeon holes people into certain CC/Stab builds and if their classes lack those – they’re screwed.
Place pickables on the map that give 20+ seconds of Stab.
I bought Guild Wars 2 is not another game I want and expect to become more ’soon an e-sport. Gw always has been now if the intentions are different, they have to say and do not use more than the name of the game Guild Wars, because if these are the intentions are just muddying the show and they have no respect for what has been guild wars in the world online games.
I bought a game called guild wars 2 because it must be so different from guild wars? because you do not want a competitive game? because it is such a problem if the team wins the most ’deserving and talented? because you want to fill mode PvP players who do not like the pvp?
is not good, we need a balanced game where you can fight with other people and that it can ensure that wins the most ’good, strong, organized and worthwhile!

Here’s my 2 cents as a 99% pvper nowadays…
This map is crap. The laser idea is great, I love it, but the fact that you can die from a simple crowd control is absolute garbage. I’ll be 1v1ing or 2v1ing people, almost get them downed, ‘or downed for that matter,’ and all of the sudden BAM knockback or feared into a hole or off the edge. HOW IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE PVP!? Necros with that 5 second fear?… instant death if my clear conditions are on cool-down. Now I know that everybody’s gonna say, “well that’s how this map works, deal with it.” but it’s not like pvp at all! It’s like a mini-game at best! I like to pvp every day… With this new map I’m not going to be able to pvp for 2 full days with this map in the rotation because I hate it that much. My build means nothing when a rank 1 can spam knockbacks on me. Okay, it’s a fun/interesting map, BUT REMOVE THE THING FROM TOURNY ROTATIONS. It doesn’t effect how good any player is or how good their build is. Sure, put it in the free-play availability, but this is JUNK in tournaments. It’s not true pvp.

I love this map. It has officially replaced Temple of the Silent Storm as my favorite map. This map accomplishes something that so many of the other maps failed at: it is fun in a tactical and chaotic way.
So far, I’ve only played on it with a conditionmancer, and I loved it. My fears now have the potential to one-hit kill people, and also the counter-control can easily save me from one of devastating environmental effects.
Gee … I wonder why you love this map where as others hate it. You ONLY play one of THE MOST imbalanced classes in game currently AND on top of that you can fear-spam and “one hit kill” people! Not hard to put two and two together.
Because pressing one button and landing a kill equates to pure raw skill, obviously! So naturally you’re going to support and defend this easy victory mode for yourself without testing it on other classes that don’t have such an easy time “one hit killing” players and then go on to say this makitten omehow amazing. Brilliant.
And if you ask me … any kind of one hit kill mechanic in a game like this where the emphasis is on skill and “outplaying” your opponent. This does not support that in the slightest, it just supports making the cheesiest and most gimmicky ‘one-hit-kill’ builds you can come up with and does not really give much room, if any at all, for counter play, which is a MUST have for any game to be competitive.
This map is just trolly gimmicky garbage that doesn’t belong in competitive PvP.

the field of play must be only witness of the two contending team, the map must be able to make the game fun but it should not affect so ‘heavily on randomness’ of the events in this map is not obvious to win the team stronger, organized and worthy .
for me this map kills the competitive game
^ Do some regular tournies to try to get some synergy amongst the team and overall map knowledge/strat?
it is what we are doing now.
but if we had a custom arena we could play much more ’peacefully and organize friendly matches also internal to my guild.
however, no one knows if one day, when and if it will be available?

ok but my team is beginner. challenge with a team that owns the custom arena is not balanced and it is a good workout for those who must play initially at low levels.
I’d like to organize training with the team at our level.

Many players have bought the game expecting to find a lot more pvp content
and certainly at this point are not happy with how they spent the money.
hopefully in the near future developers add something that can return gw a serious game worth to be played

It seems to me that you are killing spvp, you are destroying the game that fascinated me so much with me and many other players now disappointed abandon the game.

If GW2 was just a game pve had to say it once.
