It is good we have some nice exclusive skins. Probably from the 5th birthday forward you can get 2 skin choices from the set which I think rewards loyalty to the game.
I agree with you on this and if you lets say have 2 toons that do this . then you got a pretty good chance maybe to get them all . but will say more toons you use for this the best chances you will have getting them all . or at least should
The Luminous Weapon Skins are part of the 5th Birthday Present for the account, not characters. Everyone’s best yield is 2/year, as long as we get to open something each year from 5th forward.
Edit: Assuming also that we’re capped at 2/year, maybe they’ll give us a choice of 3 for our 6th birthday…

I’ve read through a bunch of posts on this, and I think there are a handful of concerns with the system.
1. The Walls – behind a heart and “map currency” to ID – for many, this will slow them down when it comes to identifying day-by-day and will add unnecessary frustration
2. The Cost – gold sink discussion – the additional cost to ID and then salvage is substantial and will create ripples through a lot of markets (core currency well)
3. The Loot Impact – additive or replacement – this is likely my biggest concern, and I think it is for many others. As long as drop rates for rares/exotics are unchanged from core/HoT, the option to “convert” a green into a rare/exotic is part of the gamble. Drop rates for greens/blues should be lower anyway, which would lead to the perceived benefit of stacking these items as unidentified gear
4. Exclusivity – anything locked behind unidentified gear – are their skins/weapons/gear/trinkets/rewards locked behind the gear? This would make it feel necessary to invest the time and money, rather than keeping it additional/optional – as an extension, we can mention anything not locked, but with a much higher drop rate from unidentified gear versus open world
5. Mat market disruption – salvaged material rates – it seems like the unidentified gear provides more mats when salvaged directly, which will boost supply and drop prices for several items. Paired with any gold valuation and a potential currency sink, the TP market is likely to go through some rather significant shifts
I’m no expert, and I’m likely missing some factors here. In the big picture, I’m not sure what adding this feature brings to the game. If it’s the only way to get certain items, it will upset some people. If it replaces some portion of the previous drop system, it will upset some people. If the intent is to disrupt markets and currencies, it will upset some people. When the dust settles, the game state may be pretty good, possibly better, but what pains will be encountered to accomplish that (both acute and chronic)… we’ll have to wait for PoF and find out.

Mystic Forge could be fun…
1 Dye Kit + 3 Jennah’s = Random Mini Unlock
1 Dye Kit + 1 Jennah + X Mystic Coin (or Stone) = Random Wardrobe Unlock
Chews up the dye kits and Jennah’s that are and will continue to accumulate. For people like me, who are only accumulating Jennah’s, perhaps a 4 Jennah’s exchange for a limited unlock (rarity based).
Empty Mystic Forge positions could be filled with sigils or runes, just to get rid of them too. We could come up with a lot of possible combinations but balancing investment, disposal and reward is the tough part.

Between the Royal Terrace Pass & the LS3 ports (in the book), I can get really good map distribution to decrease WP costs. The gate in the Royal Terrace that sends you to any of the other major cities is convenient. I keep these two and the Home Portal Stone in shared inventory, so any of my characters can bounce around fairly easily.
OT, while it would be nice to have the port back feature, I understand the open world versus instance limitation. I found these items valuable in their current state for my QoL, and I enjoy the game… therefore, I spent some money.

. I’m also happy to see people get a chance to to check out the VIP areas for ‘free’.
I insta deleted it, I do not appreciate them trying to coax me into buying something and calling it a birthday present…
Amazing 5th birthday rewards, thank you for everything you do, you guys are 2nd to none.
They are 2nd to Blizzard.
Should have sold it for 50s and purchased a T6 mat – Happy Birthday!

Mine arrived around 1am EDT, which was earlier than I had anticipated. It would seem that the gift timing is down to the hour rather than the day.
I haven’t chosen weapons or a backpack, nor have I used the wardrobe unlock… I’m going to obsess about the choices and the RNG all afternoon.
Thank you ANet for the great gifts. I enjoy the variety and the chance to unlock some cool skins and dyes I would never be able to afford otherwise.

I don’t think they count the leap year, so it’s likely when /age is = 1825, but I could be wrong.
I think the earliest possible time for 5th birthday presents is 5pm PDT on Thursday, August the 24th. This is for anyone that made a character 3 days prior to the official GW2 release date during the early access kick-off.

I think the Name Change Contract and Total Makeover Kit sales are a “1 per account” deal with the big savings. If I were to guess, I’d say it’s a chance to redesign one character on the cheap and in preparation for PoF.

My sense of anticipation is growing… excellent!
I haven’t logged into GW1 in a long time either, which is something I need to fix. I should have a handful of presents there to open as well.

I didn’t think that was confirmed, though it’s very detailed. That’s the formulaic part. It’s nice and all, but now I feel like I didn’t just peak into my stocking before Christmas… I dumped it out, took inventory, cataloged it carefully, put it back, hung it up and still need to wait four days to get it.
I prefer wild speculation followed by sensible people reining it in and a strong sense of anticipation.

They’re just around the corner… it’s become a little formulaic, but who wants to speculate about something special for this milestone? With PoF a month out, could there be a choice of skin for one of the mounts?

I think we can expect some of those to be on sale next week or possibly the week after. Many characters will be turning 5 at that point, so I expect the sales to build up to some grand finale around then. I’m watching for many of the same things.

I’m still receiving a “cookies” or “redirecting loop” error in Chrome when I try to load the store at all. However, it loads in IE from the same computer/connection. Chrome is my main browser on this computer with very little IE history and no changes/cookie dumps… heh heh, cookie dumps, were done beforehand.
It looks like Firefox has an issue from the post above, but I’m not sure about Edge, Safari or other browsers. Where’s Netscape Navigator when you need it?…

I didn’t find an area under Support that allowed me to provide feedback, which I promised to provide. Therefore, the forums will have to do!
I completed the Chak Gerent event a few times in June, but I wasn’t awarded the Mistward Helm Casing. It wasn’t a common issue, and the event didn’t have an achievement to make it easy to prove completion.
The Support team was very thorough in their investigation, despite the relatively unimportant nature of the request. I appreciated their diligence and understand the potential floodgate of requests that could potentially follow an easily awarded item. While it’s unfortunate that this is necessary, I trust that they understand their audience. They see all the support tickets, justified to ridiculous, dire to entirely unimportant.
In the end, I’ve suggested that game design capture any and all events or quests as achievements if these events or quests are associated to collections or other longer, chain achievements. They don’t have to have much of an achievement point assignment, if any; they would just be there to easily prove completion in the event that any rewards were missing.
I took the necessary screenshots the second time around to document the issue. Thankfully, I received my Mistward Helm Casing (Cheers GM MarlFox!) and completed the collection. This is one satisfied customer, so thank you GW2 Team!

Thanks for the quick turn around on the application! I’m excited to be in the FENX family.

I have to agree that I would love an everlasting tonic usable during combat. Kuunevang V2.0 would be outstanding. Thinking of the swatches, something like that, but for mini’s would be great. Pick any account bound mini from earlier in the game. I’m only thinking account bound to prevent a value-based choice and sell-off, but tradeable wouldn’t be the end of the world.
Someone mentioned BL Tickets… what about 1 ticket per character turning 2 with a bonus of every skin going on sale for 1 ticket as a game based celebration? Everyone gets a chance to pick one skin from earlier (other than the “retired” ones, unless they come back temporarily as well) as long as they have a toon turning 2 along with the game. Anyone without a toon from the start can still take advantage of the cheap skins as long as they get/have tickets.
Anything is a bonus; as long as you keep that in mind, you can’t be too disappointed.

Excellent, thanks Talonblaze. I appreciate the answer.

First, sorry if this is a repeat topic; my forum search wasn’t finding anything.
Following the April pack release, will we be able to get Transmutation Charges as well as unlocked skins from any existing, unused skins in our inventory or bank space? I have several skins from Living Story, PvP, purchases, etc. that I haven’t applied to anything yet. If not, will we simply be able to apply them to the appropriate armour after the 15th, with that skin officially being unlocked in the wardrobe afterwards?
I just don’t want to leave them unused and find out that it’s going to cost me additional TC’s to apply them after the pack release.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Grab it while you can… the 5-stack of keys is an accidental (likely) super sale. It’s meant to be 15% off, but that would be 106/382/1785. You’ll notice that it’s 106/292/1785, which is 15%/35%/15% off, respectively. So, 5×5-stacks comes to 292×5 = 1460 gems rather than the 1785 for the 25-stack directly.

It worked… partially… seems to be stuck on French, but only in the trading screens (not even the window title). The right ctrl key won’t toggle any longer (since it thinks the language has been reverted).
A restart of the game fixed the issue in the end, and I’m able to see my BLTC selling list in English now.
Thanks for the interesting fix; I’m glad I checked the forums for a solution.
