So because I missed a single patch note in April, I’m screwed over on the work I’ve put into this so far.

Is there anything that’s going to happen a month from now? Say, strip away the T6 material requirement and put in two new collections that have to be completed in structured PvP only?

I ask because apparently casually reading these things isn’t good enough.

LS2 - Dragon's Reach 2, a forced wrong choice

in Living World

So going through old story, and just finished the part of Dragon’s Reach 2 called “Taimi and the Asura.”

So here’s my question: Why can’t we just kill Phlunt? At the very least, we should be able to try and talk him down. But the assumes, wrongly, that not only am I willing to work with him for the “greater good”, but that I’m willing to convince Taimi to do so.

He’s evil, greedy, selfish, and willing to sacrifice his people and the world for a bit of profit. I say let all of Rata Sum know that fact, and either they can kick him out and do things properly, or they can die to the dragon’s wrath and we’ll be better off without them.

Hopefully he gets his own sometime… I haven’t finished the other four episodes from season 2.

This is, I think, the first time a “choice” has been forced on me that not only did I not like, but I flat out disagreed with.

I know I’m bit late in complaining about this, but I honestly had to vent. I’ve always enjoyed the story of GW2, and being forced to side with the evil manipulative prick, against my comrade, is wrong on every conceivable level. If he controls Rata Sum, that proves they’re unreliable. You give in to a tyrant’s demands, they don’t magically become reasonable or cooperative, they remain a tyrant and try to screw you over further.

By comparison, the Imperator of the Black Citadel is a bastion of logic and reason…

The ones grayed out in the wiki are the ones for low level accounts, as Vayne mentioned above. Those achievement should never appear for high level accounts neither be rewardable. Wiki shows all them just for reference.

shrug Be that as it may, I got credit for all of them on my lvl 80 elementalist. Just adding my experience, for what it’s worth

To add to this, it looks like the Dailies page on the wiki is picking up the “hidden” dailies.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Daily

PvE Daily Queensdale Event Completer
PvE Daily Kryta Vista Viewer
PvE Daily Shiverpeaks Miner
PvE Daily Fractal
PvE Daily Great Jungle Wurm
PvE Daily Kessex Hills Event Completer
PvE Daily Maguuma Wastes Miner

Are all listed for today; the first three are grayed out on the wiki, and don’t appear in-game, but are awarding credit for completion (I tested it, got credit for Kryta vista viewer, Queensdale Event completer, and Shiverpeaks Miner, and doing those three got me Completionist). The next four are showing on the wiki in normal font, and are appearing in game and functioning as normal.

Continuing to level my new character, the system continues to be incredibly frustrating. I’m through most of it now, in terms of the unlocks… level 52, so I have my elite skill unlocked, but I’m still unable to unlock Master and Grandmaster traits, and just realized I won’t get the Grandmaster traits until level 80.

I will say again, if my wife and I hadn’t already played the game in the past and didn’t want to play it specifically, I wouldn’t still be here, and it would be a direct result of the “New Player Experience”… which seems to translate as “we assume everyone in the world is a moron, and will treat them like such.”

I’m sure others (in particular, Vayne) will disagree with me, but as a player who used to play, left for a long time, then came back, this system was almost enough to drive me away again because of how much less enjoyable it has made the leveling experience. Whether you agree or disagree with me is your opinion, of course, but you cannot deny that I feel this way, because I do. Hell, I wound up having to come to the forums to learn that these things were all level based now, and that there was nothing I could do fix it.

Returning player, decided to start a new character.

After 3 levels, I went to the internet trying to figure out how to turn off the tutorial pop-ups that were invasive, unwanted, and ultimately unhelpful. Turns out I can’t, so I just have to deal with it.

Then discovered that everything, including weapon skills, is now unlocked solely by level, rather than through usage or discovery.

If my wife didn’t want to come back far more strongly than I did, I wouldn’t still be here, and it would be a direct result of these changes; the max level stuff has changed so dramatically I honestly don’t even know where I would start, and going back to level 1 is borderline insulting…. like I have the option of either going to preschool or being a junior at university, with nothing in-between.

Oh come on, casual “players”. Just learn how to play. Liandri is easy as kitten.

When my partial colorblindness means I can sometimes be staring right at the spot where her AoE is going to hit, looking for it specifically and nothing else, and still not see it, please explain to me how it is an easy fight not based on RNG?

Unsellable, Soul/Account bound crafting materials...

in Crafting

In general, a lot of the bound materials are (or can be) acquired through karma. (I actually don’t remember any that are bound that can’t be obtained with karma, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that there aren’t any.) I’d guess the reason for this is that the item system doesn’t differentiate between methods of acquisition, so however you get the item, if you could have bought it with karma, it’s bound. (Example: Loaves of bread are bound, because there are places you can buy them with karma… so even if you make them yourself they’re still bound.

So short version: because they don’t want people selling for gold things they buy with karma (at least not directly; buying ingredients with karma and selling finished products is fine.) As to why that is, I’m not sure (though I have a few theories I’ll keep to myself, since I have little evidence to back them up).

Vanilla (and the lack thereof...)

I will confirm that I’m getting Vanilla Beans from Verdant Herbs in Mount Maelstrom and Sparkfly Den… just picked up 12 beans (along with some Tarragon, Cloves, and Peppercorn).
