Hi all,
Been playing since launch and all of a sudden – maybe 2 weeks ago? – I’m starting to experience my mouse jumping erratically but only vertically. Isn’t affecting other games or normal Windows. Switched mice and still happening. Could be my newish laptop – about 2 months old but has been working well for a while.
Windows 8.1
HP Envy
All windows updates applied.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Until the zerker meta is fixed I don’t see much point in working on this content. Now, if you made boons, control conditions and/or endurance scale with healing/vitality/toughness now we’re talking.
I suffer from this too. I just did 3 knights events all 100% attendance, heaps of DPS and got event credit but no loot. Raised a bug report and support issue. I’d like the loot mailed to me.
Symbol of Swiftness
To clarify the new Symbol of Swiftness will give you 4 seconds of Swiftness every single pulse regardless of if you have swiftness or not. This is a improvement in many situations and a slight loss in the situation where you were using the Symbol as just a one time buff. I think this makes it feel more like a Symbol, which is good. We are still discussing the idea of it being 5 seconds, but there is some danger of that going pretty high with boon duration.Jon,
I like a lot of where you’re going with the Guardian here, but I am a little concerned about the Symbol of Swiftness change. Not as a matter of balance but just as a quality of life issue. 4 seconds of swiftness on a 15 second cooldown is pretty much useless as a means of traveling for a solo Guardian, and the symbol is one of the better ways for Guardians to get around. Having to stop and stand in the symbol to get the full ticks of swiftness while traveling long distance is just going to be counter productive and annoying. And I don’t like the idea that this skill is being balanced around the zerg rather than solo players who probably are only running one source of swiftness to begin with.
Math wise you can now sit in the symbol for 3 seconds with boon duration and end up with 9 seconds of swiftness which is more than you would have had before. I do still think it may need to be 5 seconds to account for the fact that you only get it every second so by the time you get the second one you have lost 1s of the first one.
Jon
Thanks so much for your openness and discussion Jon. I’m a big fan of the game and Anet and it makes me feel respected that you are taking time to listen to the community feedback so thansk for that.
Three things about the change to symbol of swiftness:
-i may have misunderstood the maths here. 9 seconds of swiftness = 3 seconds actual benefit over walking and it takes 3 pulses to apply. In practice this means you get 0-1 seconds of actual benefit as you can run through on the first pulse and you genrally have to stop for the 2nd and 3rd pulse. That doesn’t make sense. It also detracts from the “mobility” design principle as stopping to gain a movement buff doesn’t flow well with the rest of the gameplay.
-Guardian is one of the few classes with no speed trait or passive speed buffs and only a few blink skills (that can be used out of combat and they are on long timers). The only weapon skill with swiftness is the symbol. This means most guards in WvW and open world PvE – where swiftness is needed most – run a staff off hand for the symbol plus a shout with swiftness. By nerfing the symbol it may unintentionally push guards to use more than one shout which then pushes towards a small number of shout/boon duration builds. The intention of this patch is to increase build diversity, not decrease it.
-I believe the current state as you describe it is bugged. I find that when I have no swiftness I get the full 8-9 seconds on the first tick OR I get a paultry 1 second and there doesn’t seem to be a pattern to it. I want to ensure this decision is not based on faulty assumptions about how the skill currently works.
With regards to living story I do like the general direction. Some tweaks would be great.
Reduce to 3-weekly or Monthly releases. This will give more time to focus on quality both of the content and of the software. Right now fortnightly release cycle puts too much pressure on players to play so they can “keep up”. As a player I don’t want to be pressured into playing.
I would like to see more use of the fractals to replay old living story content as I have found the dungeons to be more fun. Plus I don’t currently play fractlas as there is only a small number of fractals – if the number increased I’d play more often.
I like the way you combine living story content with general game patching/balancing.
I don’t mind that a lot of the content is temporary with the exception that the dungeon content is so good I’d like to play it again.
I think the awards are commensurate with the effort.
Basically I’m happy with living story as it is but we should decrease the frequency of new updates and continue making use of fractals and daily activities to replay old living story without reintroducing limited time rewards.
1. Encouraging small team tactics / discouraging zerg tactics.
2. Incentives for defending or escorting
3. Commander quality of life enhancements (e.g. rating system, raise threshold for chat filtering, colour coding, join squad from mini map)
I find Guard doesn’t have enough snares to stop your victim from escaping unless you spec for it (i.e. hammer/scepter with signets). Another alternative is to burst them before they realise they need to escape – which we don’t generally do well at either. I’d say better choices are any other class except maybe Necro’s.

2.5. Retain the last price and quantity when placing buy orders. To order 2,000 of something I need to type in “250” as the quantity and the price then submit 8 times. This puts me at a serious disadvantage to people using scripts that order things 10,000 at a time. Either that or allow more than 250 units to be ordered at once.
Hi there. I have a number of suggestions to improve the trading post. I feel they are important as I feel a lot of what I do in the TP is “admin” work. The TP is one of the best gold sinks in the game so I feel it deserves the investment of the devs time.
Before I start I also want to say I love gw2. It is my favourite game and I think you guys have done a fantastic job. Anything I say below is constructive so I hope I can help make an awesome game even better.
1. Show current sell listings when selling an item.
Currently you only see sell listings when buying an item. Currently it only shows the highest buy, the lowest sell or the same as one of your current listings when selling an item. This means you have no idea if the lowest sell is 1c lower than the next lower or if it is 1s or 1g lower. To get around this, I’d say 40% of my sell transactions on the TP invole a buy transaction first to view the sell listings then a sell transaction to place the sell order. Not efficient and not fun. I know there are UI constraints around this.
2. Publish buy and sell listings via an approved API
I know there is an unapproved API to get buy/sell listings but it risks a ban as far as I’m aware plus it requires your session ID. As a serious trader I have a spreadsheet with several data feeds from the existing public API – mainly via Spidey actually – and I think the addition of buy/sell listings would make the APIs so much more powerful for serious traders.
3. Please remove the “Error attempting to sell”
I have never seen a formal response from Anet on what this error is but my understanding from the community is that it is an anti-bot technique. I don’t know how much bottling it stops but it annoys the hell out of me. There a several markets I don’t play because of this one issue.
4. Allow us to resize the TP window.
This would help free up a lot of screen real estate for UI enhancements. On a widescreen monitor the TP currently takes up less than half of the screen.
5. Allow search by heavy/medium/light armour types or have a “usable by me” checkbox which would automatically apply any level, profession or class restriction.
6. Display highest buy as well as lowest sell in the search results.
The one thing drives me to Spidey/APIs more than anything. As an experienced trader I can scan a list of buy/sell prices and figure out what is profitable and what is not. However I need to click on each item then click on buy orders to view buy price.
7. Display fees correctly.
For each sell order list out explicitly the list fee, the commission fee and the expected profit after fees. If expected profit is less than vendor price display a warning. Right now the commission is omitted so people new to the game have a steep learning curve. This will help deter people abusing new starters by placing buy listings at vendor price +1c.
8. Window focus
On the main trading window each time you switch to another page (e.g sell or pick up) then switch back it resets to the summary page instead of what you were on. Better to keep the last page. Even better move the summary page to its own tab. Also, when you are viewing the items In the buying/selling/bought/sold page it does not switch focus to the buy/sell page which means you can get back to your buying/selling/bought/sold page without additional page switching.
9. Change the minimum price change increment from 1c to vary based on current price
For example, having a 1c price increment on a 1s buy/sell order is fine as this is only 1%. If I get outbid I usually don’t mind as it would likely have had an impact on my margin so I’d actually want to think about placing a higher/lower one. But 1c on a 10g item is meaningless. It means serious traders have to come back and revisit their high value buy orders periodically and still make sure they are top bidder. So perhaps make the minimum price change 1c for items with 1s or less lowest sell price then have tiers of minimum increments. For example, 1s for items with 1g lowest sell price. Its similat to the concept of blinds being relative to the stakes in poker. if you play low value blinds in high stakes poker the blinds are meaningless. The other option is to have an autobid function where you say “I bid X but I am prepared to bid up to Y” if I subsequently get outbid.
I would like to see a TP API which gives you all current buy and sell listings with their current unit price and quantity. That way you can more easily identify trading walls. Right now it is really tough to do this in the game client.
There has been a massive shake-up in the server populations due to the removal of free transfers. Can I suggest we up the frequency of WvW match-up to 24-hour or 48-hour for a week or two? I don’t like that I can’t/won’t be able to play WvW for 2-3 weeks while my server plummets to the bottom tiers.
