@Jayne…
Yes, you can use them as an indication of an impending attack.
But only if the sabotage is coming from an opponent waiting to attack.
It doesn’t work if its coming from trolls on your own server.
Or allies/ex-opponents that are harbouring somes sort of grudge.
And if it is from an opponent, well so what if some people like to cheat?
They should be pitied for needing such a crutch. For a game.
Which doesn’t pay out any reward (except maybe a self-aggrandising ego boost).
And if its trolls… when what can you do except ignore them.
Every server has them.
But if you let them know they are annoying you, they will only do it more.
As for grudges… well I doubt most people will bother with such unless it was a retaliatory action of some sort.
As a JQ player, I’m 100% not concerned about any such sabotage from our allies. Only from our opponents.
In fact, as a JQ player for many years, I have never witnessed any kind of sabotage while JQ was in T1.
And this even going as far back as in the days when SOR were there with us with BG.
It was only when we got to T2 that I notice this happening.
In fact not a week went by without seeing at least 1 such sabotage.
Nearly always followed by a attack from a zerg (personally I’ve only ever witnessed it during SEA/OCX time).
And so that’s how we learnt to use it to prepare for attacks.
But frankly, I don’t think the above is sabotage at all.
From all the sabotage I saw in the last few weeks in JQ, I doubt this was sabotage.
Because if you were going to sabotage, why use alphas at 37s (and which could actually be useful) when you can use rams (<1s), or ballista (30c).
I think the OP is just overreacting to another player’s differing opinion on supply usage.
Maybe its due to some unconscious manifestation of some inner guilt?
Maybe the other player was only going to make 1 or 2 golems, but didnt like the OP telling him off, and so he just built alot more?
Who knows?
You know what they say: What goes around will come around… Reap what you sow, etc etc…
So why worry… unless you actually play that way to begin with.
Also regarding supply abuse…
Perhaps allow guilds to put a supply/time limit on Supply usage (on keeps/garrison only – not supply camps).
For instance, allow limits which are triggered by the supply level.
i.e.
> 800 => no limits
500-800 => 100 supply per person per 10/X mins
0-500 => 50 supply per person per 10/X mins
And again, allow the claiming guild to allow/ban anyone from using any amount of supply. And/or alternatively place minimums that if people meet – will have no limits. i.e.
WvW rank > 1000 – no limit
AP > 10000 – no limit.
This will allow known siege builders the ability to siege up a place without hindrance.
Wow. I didn’t expect the problem to be so prevalent.
I guess despite the title – most people (and myself) are not so much concerned about the spying per se. But rather the brazen and unstoppable sabotage that goes on.
And I agree with Offair, that a dishonour system would probably encourage trollers rather than discourage them. From what I’ve experienced, trollers usually like to troll with an audience. After all, if no listens/cares – what is the trolling achieving?
And seeing as there is no reply from Arenanet, my guess is that such behaviour isn’t actually against the EULA. So probably not much they can do about it even if you caught the saboteur red-handed.
So perhaps it would be better if Arenanet could instead give guilds a means to control/audit/police the use of their tactivators.
For instance:
Have a log (like the guild bank) – of everyone who used which tactivator, and when/what date/time. Abusers would no doubt show up regularly.
Let this log be freely visible to all – so others can report any abuse to the claiming guild.
Let the claiming guild be able to ban/allow any person (like block/friend) from using their tactivators – that way trusted commanders in other guilds/roamers/scouts can use them, while reported abusers will be locked out.
And let the claiming guild also be able to set limits and/or minimum requirements for non-guild members to use their tactivators, i.e.
A flag to allow/stop Free Accounts.
Minimum AP points.
Minimum WvW rank.
Something like that I think will drastically reduce the amount of sabotage/abuse/trolling – whatever the motivation.
So I came across something very interesting today in WvW…
My story begins here…
Today I saw a fellow JQ player moving an Omega golem around JQ keep in EBG.
He was moving it from the Lords room to the edge of the outer wall while damaging it constantly.
So I thought… maybe he’s new and is stuck and doesn’t know how to get out (it happens).
As I approached him to talk to him, he gets out immediately and runs off.
And starts escorting the nearby dolyak caravan passing by Langor and JQ Keep.
I thought… hmmmm a bit odd.
So I blocked him, checked his AP, only 886. Obviously new to WvW.
I thought… why don’t I follow him and help him out in case he needs a hand.
And so I tag him and start following him discreetly.
He escorts the dolyaks for less than 1 minute, and then he waypoints right back into JQ Keep.
And runs straight to the tactivators and turns on the Emergency Waypoint.
JQ keep was empty – no one else was standing near the tactivators.
No enemy in sight.
So I start to type in Team Chat – to admonish him and let the others know.
But before I could finish typing, he takes off again, so I stop typing to follow him.
He goes directly to Bravost, and triggers the Emergency Waypoint there too.
All this while I am standing right there behind him.
This happened today around 6PM (Monday night, GMT+8 ).
Anyway, so I start typing (or ranting) on Team Chat (you can imagine my non-too-polite posts).
Literally just 5 posts/rants later, the DB zerg hits Langor.
I’ll let you decide whether that was coincidence or not.
And here my story ends…
But I have question.
In the heat of that moment, I had reported him for botting.
But upon consideration, I’m not so sure if there is anything wrong with what he did.
After all, he wasn’t exploiting a glitch or anything like that.
And as far as I could tell, he was just playing the game, and using the game mechanics as they were intended to be used.
Though perhaps in rather wilfully unwise manner.
So… can a dev or someone knowledgeable in this area confirm if this sort of action is:
1. In breach of the Arenanet/GW2 EULA.
2. Something frowned upon but not really disallowed.
3. Fine as it is, i.e. L2P. This sort of thing happens in real life, and MMOs are meant to be a simulation of that. Learn to deal with it.
4. To be actively encouraged. After all, when I calmed down, I realised it was quite fun to catch and expose him. It felt like an episode of NCIS: Guild Wars 2. Plus it was most interesting to see what lengths people would go to win a game with no prize.
How about if warriors got an F1, F2 and F3 to use the Burst with either Full, 2-bars or 1-bar of adrenaline? This will allow warriors manage their adrenaline better without forcing them into a “all-or-nothing” strategy.
The Burst damage for each bar will probably need to be adjusted more evenly though to balance it out. Cooldown should be shared across all F1-F3.
And similar with the Cancelling Tactic in the other thread – how about we also have a Feint/Cancel Burst skill? (i.e. F4). This will allow a warrior to ‘pretend’ to Burst – to force a dodge or block.
If it hits, it will do 1/10th (or even less) of the 1 bar burst damage.
And it hits, or is blocked/blinded/dodged – gain 1 bar of adrenaline.
If it misses completely – lose a bar of adrenaline.
I think this can have a separate cooldown to the ‘real’ Burst.
And a warrior should be able to convert a ‘Real’ burst into a ‘Feint’ mid-execution if he sees a dodge or blind. This will preserve the ‘real’ burst adrenaline and cooldown – even if it costs 1 bar of adrenaline if it misses completely.
How can I buy gw2 usa online while in the UK?

Hi
I am no longer an active player but I would like to buy a few copies of gw2 for family and friends. However I am on holiday now in the UK and the website only allows me to buy the UK/euro version which I don’t want and also costs a lot more. How can I get pass this and buy the us version which is on sale now but won’t be by the time I get home?
Can someone/arenanet advise how I can do this “legitimately”?
I am not interested in using proxies/vpn… Plus I am not able to set this up this up while on holiday…
Thanks in advance…
Hi guys
I’m no longer an active player…
But I would like to buy GW2 for family/friends as Christmas presents.
If I buy 3-4 GW2 accounts under my current email address – can I just give the game codes to another person to logon under a different email address? Without ever having to login in on using my email address? Or will some sort of anti-hack verification process kick in to prevent this?
Also, if I bought GW2 from a physical shop like EB Games – will a newly registered GW2 account be given the same freebies as the online version (heroic edition)?
I’m hoping this is the case – given that it usually costs more – but am not sure…
Plus that way I can buy and wrap a gift properly instead of giving someone a piece of paper…
Thanks for any help…
Sounds nice but..
Press and HOLD F2/F3/F4 (1 sec hold down).
All Adrenaline is spent regardless of how much Adrenaline the Player has or how much time/cooldown is remaining on the Utility skill.
1 Bar = 33% reduction of remaining recharge time.
2 Bar = 67% reduction of remaining recharge time.
3 Bar = 100% reduction of remaining recharge time.Lets say i use endure pain, so i get no damage (yeah only condi) i keep hitting the mobs/ other player, i get adreline and use the F2 and i can activate endure pain again.
and with signet of stamina i can have perma endure pain :-P would be nice but i thinkg its OP.The healing is nice btw!
Good point.
I think a 90 cooldown on each Press F2/F3/F4 +Hold should prevent the same skills being spammed. So you can get 1 extra Endure Pain tops at the cost of all your adrenaline.
But the single-Press F2/F3/F4 might also be abused on short duration skills (like Bolas or FGJ). So I think I think a 10 second cooldown should be applied on each F2/F3/F4 if it is used to recharge a skill down to zero cooldown.
I’ve tried to rework Adrenaline so the Warrior is able to sacrifice Burst capability for sustain, speed, or utility. No doubt the numbers will need to be play-tested and tweaked for balance. Let me know what you think (Yay, Nay, Or constructive comments please).
New Mechanic: Adrenal Recharge
Allow F2/F3/F4 to use Adrenaline to recharge Utility Skills 7/8/9.
Press F2/F3/F4: Each press spends 1 Adrenaline bar only.
10 second cooldown if used to reduce a skill cooldown to 0.
1 Bar = 10s reduction of remaining recharge time.
2 Bar = 20s reduction of remaining recharge time.
3 Bar = 30s reduction of remaining recharge time.
Press and HOLD F2/F3/F4 (1 sec hold down).
All Adrenaline is spent regardless of how much Adrenaline the Player has or how much time/cooldown is remaining on the Utility skill.
90 second cooldown on use. Cooldown also prevents Pressing F2/F3/F4 (w/o Hold) from working,
1 Bar = 33% reduction of remaining recharge time.
2 Bar = 67% reduction of remaining recharge time.
3 Bar = 100% reduction of remaining recharge time.
Modify Adrenal Health to gain Heal X amount per Adrenaline Strike:
0-1 Bar = 25 HP per Adrenaline strike gained.
1-2 Bar = 50 HP per Adrenaline strike gained.
2-3 Bar = 75 HP per Adrenaline strike gained.
Over 3 Bar = 100 HP per Adrenaline strike gained.
Modify Healing Surge:
- Remove the Bonus Adrenaline Heal.
- Give the Player the ‘Adrenal Health effect’ for 15 secs.
- Then do the base Heal, and give 30 strikes of adrenaline.
- The ‘Adrenal Health effect’ does NOT stack if Player already has Adrenal Health.
This means an extra 3000 HP if the Player already has full Adrenaline.
Or 1500 if the Player has no Adrenaline.
Modify Mending:
- Remove 1 condition immediately and 1 every 3 seconds for 6 seconds.
(3 conditions removed in total).
- Add 3 seconds duration for each bar of Adrenaline.
Modify Healing Signet:
- Give 200 HP/s base.
- Add 25 HP/s for each bar of Adrenaline.
Modify Warrior Sprint:
- Base remains 10%
- Extra 5% for each bar of Adrenaline.
Replace Discipline-Prowess (0.1% Burst Damage) with Discipline-Adrenal Efficiency.
Each point increases each strike of Adrenaline by 1 percent.
So 1 strike becomes 1.2 strikes if there are 20 points in Discipline.
Affects anything that gives Adrenaline strikes (i.e. Weapon Swap, Healing Surge).
