Well I can tell you this…it’s hard to get 5 people together with like interests that ‘jive.’
Look at wow, 5v5 is a barren wasteland. 3v3 is a bit more popular, and you have 2v2 that is the absolute most popular by a landslide — even though it has barely any rewards.
The fact is, it’s pretty easy to find a like-minded individual and queue with them for hours. It’s nearly impossible for me to participate in 5v5 though, for example, because I can’t find a group to do it. By the time you’d get a fifth, a couple people have already left by that point.
I mean here we have people that WANT to play and are having an absolutely terrible time with the cards stacked up against them so often.
To be honest, I’d rather just do hot join…but we all know that hot join is like 500 to 50 9/10 times…And I’d prefer not to be on the losing OR the winning team of that matchup. So I’m forced into (at least) solo queue if I want to enjoy spvp.
How does this happen so consistently, and how am I so consistently on the team with 4 people?
I’m just curious, I basically quit the game several months back because of an issue with disconnecting…
Basically, at times (maybe once every half hour to an hour) my internet connection (I’m kind of out in the country) will have a latency spike that lasts about 5-6 seconds. Typically, games will be fine…lag out during this, and then “catch back up” if you will.
Guild Wars 2, however, will completely disconnect me due to this short lag “burst.”
That’s fine, but if I am in wvw it will then teleport me out of it upon logging back in, and then I’d have to make my way back into wvw (possibly sit in the queue again) and then find my way back to the commander. This can be rather frustrating.
Any help on this issue?
Trust me, they care. They are just limited in what they can do and say. And the community doesnt have universal demands, so what direction to go isnt always obvious. or what to prioritize.
it takes time for them to figure out some ways to go.
I think you could be right but unfortunately, half the people left, another half are barely hanging on, and no one wants to play an empty game. So it is what it is…soon everyone will have moved on.
Because what is the point? What is the reward? Where is the gear you get or the cool new weapons? Where is the benefit to having a higher rank?
The game is fun I’ll give it that, but most people don’t just play for fun, they play for a specific goal and as a side effect have fun achieving that goal.
Not to mention, communication from anet here is a joke. They took a BEAUTIFUL game and failed on such core fundamentals of an mmo. It’s honestly a sad sad thing.
My main thing is…and it’s surprising, it’s like the dev’s just don’t care. The lack of communication, the lack of support, the lack of anything fun, the lack of following what the playerbase wants. It’s as if they see and know the game is sinking but are unwilling or unable to do what is needed to keep the game afloat.
This is 2013…how long ago did they invent public polls online…a place where the masses can vote, something would be better than just assuming that two or three individuals at some office building magically know what’s best for the game they expect people to want to play.
Here’s the thing…fixing mistakes is easy — but admitting a mistake was made is hard. No one is mad because of the mistakes that were made, but they are mad that there was never an admission or even an attempt to fix what was broken … not to mention a complete lack of communication.
Nicely put, my thoughts exactly. I was a complete enthusiast…I couldn’t get enough…and now I check back to the forums once a week to see if it’s been fixed, if I even remember to do that.
Yeah, clearly the game needs change. I would start with communication, just for the record.
@ Anet — take a page out of Blizzard’s book — they actually respond quite well to their players. They don’t leave them in the dark. The people who play gw2 actually love the game and are holding on — if Blizzard treated their people the way you guys treat us, they wouldn’t have any customer base left at all. Trust me.
I personally like the new culling. It’s much better than what we had in the past.
I haven’t played the game. I logged in tonight after what felt like a month — probably has been — and they are still UTTERLY broken. Phantasms like iberserker are an absolute joke. They have a casting time, a pause before casting, and do like 1200 damage…on such a long cooldown, multiple ways to avoid the damage, then if you do get a “spawn” off, there are more ways to avoid the damage.
Is this some kind of a joke? How has the state been left so poor for so long?
I realize that, before, certain mesmer builds NEEDED a nerf, but greatsword wasn’t one of them.
What are you doing to fix this and when is the fix coming? Not to mention, when you “fixed” the LOS issue, you forgot to actually let us cast on people that are currently LOS and casting on us!

edit to add: this game was literally the best thing going. Poor class balancing, poor bug fixes, a completely inept development department, lack of proper communication, completely missing the core fundamentals of basic mmo-making, and the sheer amount of game-breaking bugs have completely ruined this game. It is pretty much a complete pile of trash.

When are we getting an update? I haven’t played since the anet’s inability to properly address the community so it’s time for a call out.
If this thread is to be locked, just ban me from the game forever because it’s inexcusable to treat your fans this way.
You lost some true fans on this one anet, just so you know. It’s not that you messed up, it’s your lack of communication and your unwillingness to fix the things you messed up.
So my last post was move/removed because it was “confirmed to not be a game bug” — but for the past 3 nights I’ve played black ops 2 for hours and not disconnected once. I’ve played planetside 2 for hours and never disconnected once.
I cannot play wvw for 10 minutes without lagging out and disconnecting.

When it happens, the game lags out for about 5 seconds, plays catch up, then disconnects. If this isn’t related to the game being buggy, I don’t know what else to do.
So because of carelessness we are broken…and there is no communication as to when we may be fixed whatsoever. I find this appalling and have lost a lot of faith in anet. I wish I could set up to become emailed when this problem is fixed because I haven’t played in a few days and other games are starting to get more and more fun. gw2 is now something I think of once a day or so…I used to think about it all day long.
The lack of communication astounds me. I really thought higher of anet than this.
Phantasmal berserker is either bugged or the damage was nerfed by ~60% in the latest patch…that’s why.
Not to mention, the following flaws exist with the new principles: they must adhere to LOS (twice), they must adhere to blindness, they can be dodged (multiple times), but at the same time, they do not benefit from sigils (unlike every other class ability).
Our LOS is still bugged — before it didn’t matter. Now, however, it does and we are rendered useless with a greatsword in our hands.
It appears berserker damage has been decreased by about 60%. There is not a thing in the patch notes about this.
Problem is, with how slow they are to address these issues, it will probably be weeks before a problem is even acknowledged…let alone a fix being worked on. I give up.
It seems they spawn with 2 stacks of blindness or something. Mesmers were definitely gutted and there is nothing in the patch notes about a 60% dmg nerf to i berserker. I think I’m done with this game.
I noticed this too. Among everything, mesmers were gutted. We can’t hit people on walls due to LOS bug…and to top it off it appears to be about a 60% dmg nerf to berserker.
Unfortunately, and I’ve thought about this a good bit, fixes come too slow and personally, I don’t feel like playing for the next two months with no options to hit stuff that can hit me.
It’s just a mindless nerf and shows the disconnect the devs have with the community. I feel 100% worthless in pve now. Before you destroy our only usable spell on walls, give something an arc, make something fall from the sky, give us something to cast on people.
Look at a necro, they can spam staff 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 — switch to scepter scepter 2, dagger 5, and then throw 3 wells up at people and a chaos poisoning cloud on a wall.
Look at eles, COUNTLESS abilities to use up on walls. What does a mesmer have? Greatsword #3 that hits for what 1,000 and has a circle the size of a person.
What a joke.
I agree, we need devs that communicate with the community, not devs that say things like “There are a bunch of changes incoming” — lol.
“We can watch the servers to see which players use more.”
Then list them alternating, not 200 8v8 servers and then at the very bottom, 5 seconds of scrolling down the 5v5’s.
Furthermore, you didn’t TOUCH bunker guardians…which were probably the #1 thing (other than thieves) hurting pvp.
So yeah that’s it, I can’t play…stuck loading into the mists. I’ve exited, restarted, and it’s just an endless screen.
Since the gs #4 nerf today, we can no longer do any damage to anyone except a chaos storm (lol, that was also nerfed) to people up on a wall.
It used to act like other aoes, now we literally have no arcing attack, nothing that we can hit someone with who is 1/4 inch behind the wall, meanwhile they’re shooting us with everything they have.
Bugs first, then nerfs…
lol there is nothing in the game that brings me more enjoyment than the wvw jumping puzzles. I love an unfair fight…I love overcoming bad odds stacked against me…I love 1v2, 1v3 in there.
I’ve killed him on all 4 of my characters and always got completed each time, so either something’s weird with just you or this is new.
So no help at all?
I’m honestly willing to put up with a lot. Balance issues, gear treadmills, hitting anti-farm limits that we weren’t supposed to hit, rendering issues, culling issues, server issues, server-wide lag, etc etc…
But this honestly makes the game unplayable.
I had the same exact problem last night. Every 15-20 minutes I would DC from the game…go back to wvw, queue, and have to wait to enter, obviously. This is completely detrimental to gameplay, for obvious reasons.
As a test, I then downloaded the latest 3 GB planetside 2 patch, no issues. I then played planetside 2 beta for the next 3 hours with a flawless connection, never disconnecting once, never lagging once.
As stated, I’m willing to put up with a lot, but I cannot play a game that constantly decides to disconnect me from its servers.
For the record, I’m running a fairly high end system that should be more than capable of playing any game. i5-3570k liquid cooled, gtx670, Asus z77 motherboard.
I can run speedtest up and down the east coast and never go above 30ms…all day long…

I only dislike the fact that now in order to be at 100% level in wvw you have to do dungeons. I chose this game because I didn’t have to do dungeons to get the best gear.
Buying siege with badges, which are hard to get and could possibly have things in the future we’d like to purchase, is not the brightest idea when an easily replaceable option such as gold can also be used. Karma would be fine too as I think I’ve collected nearly 240k and have absolutely not a single thing to spend any of it on.
I would be very happy to see IoJ working with us SoS’ers to kick SoR’s behind. Shall we discuss a truce?
I think we’d be more likely to give SoR a time window where we’d leave eachother alone than what you are suggesting.
I’d like to see green wiped off every map, personally.
I get the same thing as of two nights ago…constantly. Then I log back in 5 seconds later and have to requeue for the next hour to get back into wvw with my guild.
The website here will do it too — I’ll be “Waiting for guildwars2.com” and open a new tab, open msnbc, google, aol.com, and facebook and this page still will be waiting.
When I get disconnected, teamspeak or vent will be streaming flawlessly…so it’s something on their end. I’ve submitted a bug report but it’s already hit the second page so no one will read it.
Over the past 3-4 nights, I have had constant disconnects in wvw. My teamspeak will be talking flawlessly and all of a sudden my gw2 loses connection with the game server and I get the character select screen with the error message.
It’s terrible because wvw doesn’t even save your spot for a minute or two, so it’s back into a queue.
I’m certain this is not my connection, because I never dc from any other games, and like I said, teamspeak will be going flawlessly during the dc.
How can I fix this?
I agree with this man on every point.
If you are getting hurt by a berserker enough to QQ about it, then things like staff ele’s literally one shot you. Again, we CANNOT hit you with any attack other than berserker when you’re up on a wall…unless you’re standing over the edge.
I play necro, mesmer, thief, and ele in wvw and I can say that if you cry about berserker’s damage, you run around in wvw being one shot by stuff quite often.
We have one skill that can hit people on the wall. Every other profession, even thieves and warriors, have arcing ranged attacks that can hit people on walls. We do not. We have one phantasm and it’s on a fairly long cooldown, requires us to use greatsword, and gets one shotted by aoe once he’s in place.
I think you guys don’t realize, pretty much we cannot hit anyone up on a wall. Where eles can one shot people, even thieves and warriors have arcing attacks, rangers can rain down pain, we have one skill that can hurt people up on the wall, and that is our one phantasm…who gets one shot by the way.
So is SOR just content on second place or what?
It’s a constant SOR hitting IOJ from this side, SOS hitting us from the other. The current scores, in no way, represent what IOJ is actually capable of, given a fair fight.
In fact, I’m calling it now, some big guild from SOR is xfering to SOS after they feed them a bunch of points this week.
We had a rough night on IOJ, getting hit from both sides. Every time we’d try to push SOS, SOR would be coming up our backside. It’s like they were working together.
And for the record, I have run bunker ele build. It’s nearly indestructible, EXCEPT against a thief that still will insta-kill you. We went up against a top 3 guild last night in tpvp and it was so frustrating. It’s not a 5 minute cooldown, thieves can stand on a point and just own repeatedly.
Anyone can see that it’s broken. If you play a thief and are saying it’s not, you must not be doing it right. If you play another profession and are saying it’s not broken, you must play a guardian or simply run into bad players very frequently.
Other builds need a buff for shatter build to take a nerf. I will say this, and I do a good bit of pvp and consider myself pretty skilled:
Mesmers aren’t half the problem thieves are. I’d put mesmers on par with hb warriors. Chances are, a lot of the people complaining need to l2p.
Since you guys caught on, I am talking about thieves, in particular in the OP.

@ shiNn – The problem is, we’re not seeing the thief. Because it’s:
1) Pre-Cast Cloak and Dagger
2) Steal
3) Backstab
This all hits you within a half of a second. Lately, with the thief buff (some call it a nerf +15% dmg to steal, cloak, backstab, hs, hs is a buff, let’s face it), it’s 5-6k steal, 5-6k cloak and dagger, 10-11k backstab. That’s 20k…guess what, my ele has less than 20k. My mesmer has 20k. My necro has 25k — and so even on my necro I’m left with 5k health instantly — and a thief is sitting there with 90% initiative still so he simply hits heartseeker (still stealthed mind you for another 2 seconds for some reason — YES, in spvp)…and I’m dead no matter what.
For the record, I’m a very good player. I’d rank myself with the top 10% of all players.
I don’t care if the cooldown on some insta-gib chain is a day and a half. I don’t care if the person insta-gibbing is a glass cannon or not, it simply shouldn’t exist.
I agree, it needs to be fixed…and it needs to be talked about. Balance, especially thieves and mesmers is ATROCIOUS right now.

First of all, steal is a long-ranged gap closer…which grants stealth and does 4-5k damage…which allows you to immediately backstab.
It’s broken. 100% it’s broken. Why the devs don’t talk about it I don’t know, but people leave the game daily due to the lack of communication.
I just explained wvw to my buddy at work yesterday like this…
At first, you’ll run somewhere for 10 minutes, die, run back, fall off a cliff that you think you can jump from, die, spend 10 minutes running back somewhere, get zerged down by 20 people…
But eventually, you pick it up and it will become the most fun you’ve ever had playing a game. Sometimes I get in with the zerg. Sometimes I get in with a 5-10 player group and take out supplies. Sometimes I run alone and pick off stragglers or just build up some seige and defend a point. You have to go in there and do terrible for a while to learn so that you can have fun.
