PvP Condition Runes.. Condition duration or 6 piece?

I think it’s generally accepted that the best combination is 2×3 piece. That is:

+28 condition dmg
+15% bleed duration
+55 condition dmg

+28 condition dmg
+15% bleed duration
+55 condition dmg

So 2 of: 3x Krait, 3x Centaur, 3x Afflicted

I’ve tried many combinations and even going up to 100…The thing you have to remember is that by stacking 2 × 3 pieces, you’re not getting +100 condition damage, you’re instead getting +83 and + 15% duration (~1 sec). So you’re losing 17 condition damage, which at 5% is less than 1 dmg per tick.

If you went with 3 × 2 piece you’d gain 15% duration but you’d also be losing out on about 90 condition damage which is about 4 per tick.

In the end, do what you want, you’re not going to lose a fight because you went 2×3 instead of 3×2 or 3×2 instead of 2×3, etc. And if you happen to enjoy gaining swiftness when healing, use that rune to 6 piece.

um i get 7k crits+ on my DS….it actually out dps lich form completely….
….you only get usefulness out of DS if you actually invest in it…

First off, 7k crits is a lie. Even in a full power spec against a glass canon, you do not hit for 7k.

That being said, why should you have to invest in it to get any usefulness out of it? What about a condition spec, we can’t invest in it. We hit for 500 when in it…and 1-2 hits while we’re in it and it’s gone. Not to mention, it seems any stun takes life force from 100 – 0…MOA takes life force instantly from 100-0.

The truth is…warrior survivability (when specced glass canon) is a bit high.
Thief survivability (with the amount of damage they can deal) is INSANELY high.
Mesmers are also right up there with thieves in the “needing-nerfed” department.

Dying to a warrior is a l2p issue. My only comparison is how squishy on “normal” classes (ie not thief/mesmer) when I’m glass canon.

That being said…dying to a warrior is a l2p issue (or a spec issue). Dying to a thief is not. Dying to a thief in 2 seconds when he gap closed you from 900+ and cloaked/backstabbed you is insane. Rolling up on a mesmer is also insane. Even IF you manage to get them down (that is, they dont run away, they don’t crush you in a matter of mere seconds [ie they are bad], and MOA is on cooldown), you can just outright plan on spending an extra minute getting a stomp off and being killed by one of their buddies that just so happen to be rolling by in that time period anyway.

It’s broken — balance is broken — the game is broken — we’re waiting patiently for the game to be fixed.

TLDR: there are much bigger things to qq about right now than warriors — which are arguably balanced, but need some tweaks here and there.

You didn’t read anything in my post but the first sentence…so I’ll quote it for you so that you can have another chance at that reading comprehension thing…

It’s broken, anyone who says otherwise plays a thief and actually thinks they’re good.

So after that short opener (the thief is still in stealth, mind you), he has full initiative so spam 2.

Don’t pretend you’ve never tried a thief with a power build…you know you can one shot anyone like that with maybe a few presses of 2 after the opener…and still have enough initiative left over to make your way across the map after swapping to your bow and pressing 5 a couple of times.

Everyone has their own idea…quickness is the problem. 150% crit is the problem. venoms are the problem. frenzy is the problem. At least it’s agreed upon there is a problem — now why are the devs saying everything is all good in the hood?

Yep, this stuff right here, along with mesmers…has made me quit playing the game entirely. Even when you spec somewhat balanced, it still happens. Because right after that, even if you add in some toughness, you’re at 20% health, the thief is still stealthed due to whatever (intended, rendering issue, who cares), and then he’s got FULL INITIATIVE and spams 2 on you. ALL THE WHILE YOU’RE IMMOBILIZED FROM VENOM.

Balanced, I think not.

Yep, I quit wow for this…and am stuck playing p4f games to pass the time instead of this unbalanced thing anet is calling gw2.

And the devs claim balance is great. Balance is anything but great…and until they admit that, I’m not returning. Explain how I can play on my thief and literally never lose a 1v1, never die, DESTROY people left and right, or my mesmer, or my warrior…yet on my necro or ele with > 250 hours of play time and I can’t fight my way out of a paper bag (unless spec’d purely defensive/healing on my ele, but that’s another story).

There are pages and pages of suggestions. I don’t have time to fix the game when the information available to fix the things that are broken are so readily available. I can tell you what I can do though — point out the things that I think are broken — and the things that detract from my having fun while playing, which is what I did.

I like the idea…or just add a bleed to 1 so that it’s not completely useless to condition specs. And number 2 … who uses number 2? Who wants to pull themselves To their foe? That’s insane. And obviously, increase the time that fear lasts on an enemy. It’s currently a joke.

Warriors fear is better. Thieves fear that they STEAL from us is better.

Yeah, I’ve been placed in games with 1-2 people so many times I can’t count. While I GREATLY ENJOY a 3v3 or 4v4, 1v1 or 1v2 is never fun…and no matter how long you stay in there, no one else shows up.

Just in case the dev’s need a little help:

First things first.

Mesmers — they need toned down so greatly, it’s not funny. When 60% of the opposing team is mesmers, it is very clear that there is a problem. Mesmers are worse than thieves when it comes to balance (which is saying a lot), and probably should never lose a 1v1 or 1v2 fight ever.

Thieves — still a push-one-button class. Some of them are starting to branch out and hit other buttons, but their reward is lessened when doing so. In fact when you are fighting a thief and you’re winning, he will panic, stealth, and spam his heartseeker button so hard. Then he wins. That’s not right. Haste – heartseeker spam, no one can live through this.

Guardians — I think everyone knows their survivability is too high even the devs.

Warrior — as much as I hate to admit, they need work too. I can’t remember the last time I died to a warrior in a 1v1 scenario.

Elementalists — Second weakest class in pvp.

Necromancers — Weakest class in pvp. There are so many threads with suggestions, I’m going to avoid that for now.

Downed State — It needs reworked to be fair or just removed entirely. If you are 1v1’ing a mesmer and manage to down him with < 50% health, he then wins the fight.

Scoring — scoring needs to be fixed. Currently, zerging anywhere on the map is the way to gain the most glory. Maybe reward higher points for on-point or near-point kills. Maybe increase the reward for defending. Maybe even decrease the reward for off-point kills. A simple buff that you get while standing within a vicinity of a node that gives you + 50% or + 100% glory bonus would do…as you venture away from that node, you lose that buff, obviously.

How do you spend your glory?

Throwing in the towel. I’m out.

Rogues hitting through 1400 toughness, 25k health necros for 9k steals, then 13k backstabs. And you’re dead before they come out of stealth.

Mesmers…you can’t hit them.

Ever since the patch today I am getting stuck in loading screens in spvp after dying. This has never happened before to me, so it has to be related.

Autoattack DPS and cast times

Don’t just slap a condition on axe and call it done.

We’re sick of builds that leave stat distribution in an impossible place.

Currently it’s like this:

Use scepter and stack condition damage, but have death shroud be pointless.
Use scepter and stack power damage, usable death shroud, but terrible bleeds, be useless outside of death shroud.

Use dagger and need to be in melee usable death shroud (our only real competitive dps, by the way).

Use axe and do terrible dps, usable death shroud.

Use staff (well obviously this is required on every necro no matter the build/main weapon) — you either have a scepter main and your marks do pitiful damage or you use a power build and have the dot portion of the staff usage do pitiful damage.

Axe needs to be buffed…
We need to have another option.
Greatsword 900 range would suffice.
Sword main hand 900 range would suffice.
I don’t even care if it’s a pistol (main and off) — this is personally my favorite idea.

DO SOMETHING - I know we have to wait for "balance" etc...

I have to agree, I’ve become so frustrated tonight in pvp that I’m considering quitting the game.

I have a lot of experience pvp’ing in this game and others and must say it’s FAR more out of whack than that post or the devs will admit. I may quit all together to be honest. I’ve stacked a good mix of toughness and vitality / power and precision etc on my elementalist and my necro and I get demolished by thieves and mesmers…warriors are right behind them. Unkillable guardians, check.

It’s not balanced. To die in steal, cloak and dagger, backstab, is broken. To not be able to hit a mesmer is broken. To run out of dodges and have a warrior destroy you is broken. The game has been out for far too long to still be this broken, ESPECIALLY since the devs outright deny any balance issues.

I logged on my thief again tonight out of frustration and absolutely demolished people again…anyone who says the game is balanced is playing one of the god-mode three or four classes.

I feel the most sorry for eles and necros, although a bit for everyone who’s not a thief, mesmer, warrior, or somewhat a guardian.

My spvp traits always reset when entering the mists [Merged]

Only on my necromancer. Every time I click “Go to the heart of the mists” I go in and my traits are reset. Just the ones you select though…like it remains at 30/20/0/0/20 or whatever, but you have to reselect all the traits that you’ve chosen.

OK time to fix these things, at least...

Bleed caps…What is the point at whacking at the air when you’re at a DE when the mob already has 25 stacks up? So that I can watch my little 300’s go off from my scepter?

5% condition damage scaling — this has got to be the absolute most depressing thing in the entire game. 6, maybe 7 second bleed, you can stack up to 10 times and it just keeps dropping off. When a necro throws some conditions at you, you should know it. My ele throws up 12 stacks of bleed up easier than my necro every day of the week.

Condition necro’s inability to kill inanimate objects…I’m talking about a Ranger’s root or a Centaur’s supply cart or a door or gate or what have you. My warrior one shots the stuff…and my necro can basically go afk while whacking away at it.

The bugged traits…and traits resetting every single time necros zone into the mists. None of my other professions traits reset upon zoning in.

I think we’re being patient. I’ll be honest though, I think a lot of people have either rerolled or simply moved on. I’m becoming more and more likely to do the same.

And we (condition mancers) do NOT want our damage to be balanced around a power build’s death shroud. We hit like a joke with #1 in DS…#2 is useless…#3 is a short duration fear…#4 gives some survivability.

EDIT: also, when you summon a jagged horror (5 pt trait) you are stuck in combat until he’s dead, or sometimes longer, until his corpse stops bleeding, even though he’s been dead for a while. This greatly slows down a necromancer.

It’s time to step up your game anet.

Mine reset 100% of the time on my necro, about 50% of the time on my warrior, and never on my thief. VERY annoying.

You’re good at playing a necromancer and don’t take this the wrong way…

The number of people in that video that stood in wells for the duration was astounding. Look at the mesmer by the treb…he sat in TWO wells for the entire duration. People in that video, for some reason, seem to be reading tooltips before they press buttons.

Is this possible?

17k health as a mesmer…you went in as a glass canon and you got broke son. I’ve NEVER caught a mesmer in a 100b, for the record. It’s a l2p issue, sorry.

Yeah, there’s a lot to complain about. In fact, I could probably fill a couple pages myself and have certainly reached a fairly high frustration level at times due to bugs or exploiters or cheating or griefing or what I view as things being imbalanced.

That said, it’s a great game with a great community, and (I think) devs that actually care about us (the players). I feel like things will be ironed out in the long run and it’s worth waiting for.

No, I’m not a suck up, and I could care less if any dev ever reads this, for the record. But it should be said to the community that the game itself is great, gorgeous, well-thought-out, and for the most part balanced and fun.

The thing with forums is this — they ALWAYS attract unhappy customers and trolls. People are something like ten times more likely to complain about something when they’re unhappy than to say something nice about it when they are happy.

Keep that in mind, because the community here really is great, the game is great and can only get better.

For the record, I only made this post because I love a necro. The devs need to realize that. I didn’t make it because I want to faceroll. Only because I want to play on a level playing field, which the necro community, at large, doesn’t think we are playing on.

I play a necro, I’m level 60. I’m rank 11 in spvp just accidentally, from the time I’ve spent in there, not grinding or anything.

I decided to try a warrior yesterday, and I was absolutely demolishing people after reading my skills, and leveling to 6 to get an understanding of the class.

I’m not going to cry or complain or anything, but it’s clear to me that necros are absolutely, 100% broken. They rely solely on the opposing players inability to play properly to win fights. I was literally 1v3’ing people on my warrior…in seconds.

On my necro, I normally can’t kill anyone in the time it takes for their support to arrive. Then it’s obvious what happens.

It’s not a skill issue, as I would consider myself pretty good on my necro. I rarely lose 1v1 matches, it’s just that there simply isn’t enough pressure there to actually kill anyone who’s not bad.

I think part of the problem is design. I think another part is that condition damage scales so absolutely terribly with everything in this game. Vulnerability doesn’t help it. Might doesn’t help it. Fury doesn’t help it. Traits like “gives 5% more damage while health is over 90%” don’t help it. Power doesn’t help it. Precision doesn’t help it. It’s just brokenly weak. That’s a fact.

My auto attack does about the same at level 80 as my thief does who is level 40. It’s absolutely broken. If you want stats to affect you, you need to use the broken axe or the dagger…but then, with the dagger, you aren’t given the utility / mobility spells that are needed.

Before you bring up lich form, realize that in lich form, my hits do about 300 dmg per hit as a condition build…because, it’s just that bad. It’s a joke.

So going over the patch notes, I’m a little taken back. We have fundamental class issues, bugged talents, few (read 1) viable builds, which leave the class feeling in a completely unfinished state…and yet other classes are getting their cake and eating it too?

Are you serious anet? I picked the elemental shaman of gw2, didn’t I? I know what it’s like to play the ‘class’ that is ignored and it’s not fun.

I don’t think I’ll reroll. I do have a 40 thief and played warrior almost exclusively in the betas, have reached rank 10 in pvp multiple times, as well as on live, and I’m telling you guys that you NEED to have a serious sit-down talk with the necro class lead. He’s not doing his job…or is the new guy in the office and getting bullied by the other class leads or something.

The necro community would be content with a “we’re aware of the severe issues and are working on it” and they would know to stick it out. They’d be content with a “we think necros are perfect, actually nearly op at this poin” and they would know to move on.

All we’re asking for is some feedback like ALL other classes have received.

% Damage increase needs to work with condition damage

Condition damage in general needs buffed. Yeah I can get a lot of stacks up on someone, 8 or 9, pretty easy, but in 5 or 6 seconds, they use their heal, and bulls charge/heartseeker/immobilize and hit me for 9k…Maybe if the conditions lasted a bit longer too, it wouldn’t feel so broken.
