Guild Wars 2

While I very much enjoy GW2, it still doesn’t compare to my favorite MMO which I judge all others by, Lord of the Rings online. I enjoy the world, the content available, the classes, and the graphics.

Plus the music is great, and there has never been a community as awesome as the one found in LotRo.

So no, GW2 has not ruined other MMOs for me. It does things I like, but it is missing something that I can’t quite put my finger on.

I have found it quite difficult settling on a class. I just don’t know. I want to focus on one, not play a few, and am thinking guardian, (again), or maybe thief.

It is quite difficult to decide.

I actually just answered my own questions on the wiki, (it wouldn’t load earlier). Looking forward to playing an Asura.

I have played both a Human and a Charr, though not very high, (I believe 21/22 guardian), and I think I want to try an Asura.

How do you folks enjoy your Asuras?

Is there a preferred class for them? I was thinking of playing a thief, (dual daggers), or an engineer, (dual pistols). I haven’t been big on casters in past MMOs, though they are not out of the question.

My other question is what armor is Zojja wearing, and can you get it at all? And what class would she be considered, engineer?

I settled on Jade Quarry. Only Full server that opened up, so hopefully it is a good one. Had to delete all my characters to do so, but I didn’t really have anyone high level anyways.

I appreciate the responses everyone. I’ll just wait until I can join the server to play.

Piken Square is the unofficial RP server in Europe.
Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server in the US.

A lot of people guest over to Tarnished Coast to RP and even join RP guilds on TC. You’ll be fine.

But if I guest then I can’t do everything on the server, correct?

Judging by the lack of responses I guess there is no other RP server.

But I can’t even play on the RP server, Tarnished Coast. I keep seeing this server recommended based on the great community, but you can’t even access it.

What gives?

I really appreciate the guide, as well as the two videos. I honestly was not aware of how important movement and dodging was in this game, (as I come from World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings online where you pretty much avoid the big glowing spots on the ground).

I was already aware that using a different weapon changed skills, which is neat. I also didn’t know that a secondary weapon was so important.

Honestly a bit overwhelmed, though feel a bit more knowledgeable now. I knew that the holy trinity wasn’t here and was curious how things worked in group situations.

I also wanted to say thank you, for pulling me aside and teaching me some things. Can’t say I have ever played an MMO where that has happened.

It is a lot to take in, (or at least it seems that way to me), yet seems fairly easy to get the hang of. I will definitely practice, though now I have reverted back to profession decision.

Are you folks inviting to someone completely new to the game and eager to see what it has to offer?

Is Piken Square an RP server?I see it is medium pop just like the one I am currently on which worries me a bit. I don’t want a slammed packed server with a player every ten feet, but I do not like crossing an entire area and never seeing anyone else.

So I can guest on another server even though it says I can’t transfer for 5 days? And I can do everything PvE there, like level, craft, join guilds and such? Then transfer after 5 days and be able to WvW and PvP?

If that is so I am headed to the unofficial RP realm. Probably should have done a bit more research on servers, ha. Also, what are laurels? Is that the currency here?

Hey there to everyone, new to the game, but not new to MMOs. I have played a lot of WoW and LotRo, and dabbled a bit in EQ, EQ 2, Rift, AoC, and TOR.

So far I really like this game, graphics, sound, and gameplay, though some things are a bit confusing to me. First, are there a lot of people playing? I am on the server Seaferers Rest, (I think is the name), and I don’t see many people at all. I played several hours last night and never saw another player. I can’t change servers for five days, (I changed when after 2 hours of trying names I never got one, and then realized you can have a first and last name).

I really like the Charr, but was wondering if you can run on two legs with the weapon put away or only on all four?

I don’t seem to be able to collect quests, they just pop up when I am near something. I think that is kind of neat, more of an observation than a question.

Having trouble deciding on a class, but leaning toward a warrior. I usually play rogue type classes and want to go different this go round. Plus, I like the idea of a heavily armored Charr. Any advice for this class?

Are there mounts in game?

How is the crafting? I see that I can buy and equip all the gathering tools, but how is the actual crafting?

How hard/easy is it to make money?

How hard is it to find a guild? I have seen zero recruitment posts in the chat window. Am I just in the wrong place?

What is WvW? Is that like PvP? I am mostly interested in PvE, but wanting to try PvP later on.

I apologize if it is to many questions, but I am enjoying the game so far.
