My computer is a bit old now and I’m running on medium settings mostly. The only time I notice lag or fps drops with bombs/grenades is when I’m in a corner and zoomed in, getting smoke and fire the only thing I see. Other then that, no issues.
I’m a bit ok with them sticking out. What I’m not ok with is how they didn’t even bother to add holes on the shoes…
Then again. How they made the armor for Asura (and a kittenarr) is saying lazy. To me, it looks like they didn’t care how the Asura look, they just took the male human armor, made it smaller and put it in the game for us to use. The shoes (and sometimes even the rest of the clothing) can easily be seen that they aren’t made FOR the Asura. They are just scaled down human models.
I agree, but I think the reason it’s clipping so much is because it’s the human version made small.
My main is an Engineer and almost the only thing I can wear without going bonkers is the magitech armor from the gem store. I’m sick and tired of all these coats! Coats coats coats and huge hats!
I’d like to have some more choices than looking like a “bandit” or “thief”.
I thought I’d say some more on this topic.
The first thing I see the most is people talking about the Asura looking like children and if ANet let the Asura females use the female armor looks the game would be banned in several countries. Have anyone heard about Tera? They actually have small children running around in VERY revealing clothing and it’s censorship in the US? They added shorts instead of panties and I think they also made some textures not so see trough. I think people are so hooked up about the Asura looking like children that this must be the excuse for ANet’s lazy work. Because that’s what this is. There are a few male armors in the game that show more skin than female armor and that’s ok? If ANet truly had the “they look like children and can’t wear armor like that” in mind they’d change the look on these male armors as well to “censor” it a bit for the Asuran females.
They could’ve easily made changes to the female armor to “censor” it for the Asura females. For examples. The armors that show lots of breasts, they could’ve added some cloth underneath to cover it, doesn’t need to be that fancy either.
Instead of just going the easy way and giving us the male version of the armor right off, they could’ve made small tweaks on the female armor instead.
I love the look my female engineer has with the pants and such. But it’s pretty sad that when I stand next to other Asura, it’s pretty hard to see that I’m even female.
Also. In one of the Asura storylines there is actually a couple that does talk about each others looks as well as their intelligence.
It feels that so many protect ANet’s lazyness with two things:
1. Asura look like children and thus cannot wear the female armor because it’s TOO sexy!
2. Asura does not care about looks but about intellect and because of that doesn’t need to wear clothing like other females, ex. human.
Both of these things have, in game, been shown to be just speculation from the public at why ANet did as they did. Instead of just saying that they were lazy!
1. Other games have child like characters that wear “sexy” outfits without there being much issue about it. Plus, there are a few male armors that sho off WAY more skin that a female armor counterpart would, example, breasts.
2. Asura does care more about intellect but if we take in the example of the Asura storyline with the couple and that some female hairstyles actually have ribbons and such to make it “pretty”. We can see that Asura females (and probably males as well) do care about how they look, even if it’s not as much as human females do.

ANet was lazy. That’s the only reason we’re here even talking about this…
Forced gender diversity has NEVER been a good practice in the gaming industry.
Female characters that can’t wear “male clothes”(aka, more covering clothes) and always have to be almost naked ARE sexist, and wrong. What we have here is the complete oposite: the imposibility to use cute or delicate, or even skimpy clothes on some chars. This is wrong TOO.
But, the solution isn’t to make the female versions of armor more “femenine”. That is going back to the first problem. What Arena Net have to do is to add are new wearable items more “cute”, “delicate” or “skimpy”, wich people could use, no matter the gender of their char.
I do agree with you and yes, they need to make outfits that we can add that isn’t restricted to male or female. Since Asura (and Charr) both are “forced” to use the male version of all outfits making an armor more skimpy for the sake of those two races female parts would just be silly.
Like for example. On my Asura Engineer I’m quite fond of the outfits that are available but on my Asura Mesmer that doesn’t fit as well. I’d like my Mesmer to have robes that doesn’t have to show that there are pants underneath. I know there are a few in the game for male characters but most of the female outfits are really nice and it makes me sad that I can’t use them.
They could just have made female Asura wear a tweaked version of the female outfits instead of just giving us male outfits right off.
I don’t think they’ll change this but I do hope that ANet will add, as you said, outfits that isn’t restricted by gender.
This is exactly what I was thinking of. I kinda like the fact that the asura can wear pants as females too but just not giving us the choice at all to be able to wear more feminine clothes is just sad and as someone already said in this thread: lazy.
It’s the same with the female charr if I’m not totally mistaken. Why is it that just because we’re not human or humanish in our looks and anatomy, we can’t wear dresses or skirts?
All the other races (that are based on human anatomy) gets different looking armor for their genders and we’re stuck with the male armor look just because we’re “different”?
I truly hope more will speak up about this so we too can get some different looking armor for our female characters. It’s sad that I can run next to my boyfriends asura and we almost look exactly the same <.< even with different genders…
I’m having a problem similar to this.
I downloaded the newest patch last night and played a bit. Worked as intended and today I decided to port to Black Citadel and the client crashed. I tried logging back in on that character but it keeps crashing trying to load back to Black Citadel.
This isn’t very much fun :/
Why I took a break from the game was because:
- I quite like having special roles (healer, tank and dps).
- After I got 80 there wasn’t much to do (I felt like).
- Making an alt (which I really like doing) didn’t feel very new, you’ve seen the places and you get the skills quite fast so there was not much new.
- The dungeons were extremely hard.
- All my friends quit.
This was before the living story started and since I have so little time nowadays between work and hobbies GW2 is actually a good game to play. I feel there’s more to do now, and a few things has gotten better since I took my break, I feel.
I actually kinda like it. I think it gives a nice feel to the mobs and the battle. For me it feels like these mobs are special in a way, a mob close to a player. Not that it fights as a player or anything, just that with the Finish Them thing it makes it feel as if they’re special.
My Asura Thief Dithoricki
Currently level 61!
I tweaked the screenshots to test out a technice in photoshop since I wanted to use the screenshots for a few videos!
I’ve never had any problems with the Clock Tower and I probably do it at least once a day just for fun. But I have seen the hands grab after me even if I’m not even close to the green fog, but I’ve never “failed” the jumping puzzle from it so I’ve just thought it was a visual bug.
I agree. It is possible to win as a villager but they need to work together (which I haven’t had the luck with as of yet, everyone just runs off in different directions xD ), but I think that the Mad King Say’s ability is way too powerful. If I manage to get away even when they use one Mad King Say’s, they’ll just use another one and I’m dead.
As people have said, either tweak it, change it or remove it completely. The ghosts already do massive damage and such, I don’t feel they need the Mad King Say’s ability.
I personally think this is the best storyline of the three. I’ve played them all and two of them several times. The one I think is the worst much be the weather changing thingie. That one was just boring and stale, for me at least. I do liked the story with the Golem as well. The Golem story and the one with the Infinity Ball are the ones I’ve played more than enough (I think I’ve played both story lines over 4 times each xD)
SPOILER ALERT
The think we need to remember is that what the Infinity Ball was showing didn’t have to be THE future but A future. If I’m not mistaken it could also show of other dimensions which would work well with the fact that the “future self” is ok with killing you. Think of it like this, for every choice you made there is a dimension where you made the other choice, which might create a whole new world. There might be dimensions in where your character died because of the choice made but that doesn’t mean there wont be any future you in any other dimension. Oh dear, this could get very complicated talking about how dimensions affect each other and so on and so forth. I for one didn’t have a problem with having my “future self” killing me to reach her goals of ultimate power. With my imagination, it fit perfectly.
I was confused about this one. I actually did this a while ago and had no problems. When I tried doing it again now with another character I died three times. I landed on the rocks on the right so I wouldn’t take so much damage and then jumped but still I died where the free fall starts.
I then tried to stand between the two middle teeth and aim between the two waterfalls and that seemed to do the trick.
I’m a bit sad as well I never got the chance to do it.
This was my reasons why I never got the chance:
1: I was there when the phase started but I never got to enter the instance. It must’ve bugged. I either couldn’t enter with my friends or could enter but then I was alone.
2: Tried again the day after but no one wanted to do a group with me (lvl 31 at that time) so I gave up after a while and went to do other things.
3: Tried again another day and couldn’t get a group again. Decided I’d try to solo it. I probably could’ve done it but I ran out of time and had work in the morning.
4: Wanted to try again after work but phase 4 started at the time I finished work so I never got another chance.
So I’m a bit upset I didn’t ge to try out the whole dungeon but at least I got to see a part of it. I must say, I was a bit surprised that they closed the dungeon but it’s ok. I still got all the achievements for the halloween event.
Aw sad I never got to play the dungeon. I end work at the same time phase 4 starts. Oh well, I bet phase 4 will be just as fun ^^
I was able to see the Mad King but my boyfriend (sitting right next to me) did not. Good thing he just had to watch my screen to see what was actually happening.
I love jumping puzzles and this is by far the most fun I’ve had in the game I love it and hope that ANet has plans to make more jumping puzzles like this one!
I couldn’t help but laugh all the time when I failed because it was just silly fails. Like one time I was just at the top and when I jumped to get to the last stair I jumped to late and hit the edge of the stair and fell down xD I’ve done this three times so far and it’s still just as silly funny!
I’ve done this puzzle now as sylvari and asura! Darn those norns and charr are huge!!
First I want to point out that I have a full time job and other hobbies besides the game.
I started the scavanger hunt when my character was level 21. Sure I died now and then but extra run speed and patients got me trough it. I might have been lucky that always when I was supposed to kill something there was either a whole group of higher levels already there and ressing me when I died or they had already killed whatever spawned and I just had to run up and talk to the ghost.
I like that it’s challenging. Sure, it might be a bit frustrating at times but I like it difficult.
I tried this jumping puzzle out because I simply love jumping puzzles. I don’t have speed buffs and I play as a sylvari (I’ve also tried it as asura and made it). Having a speed buff isn’t required, it’s nice, but not required. Actually, for me it is the faster you run the faster your reflexes need to be for not falling off and making the jumps.
I do agree that the huge models of norn and charr make it a bit harder, especially for azura. But then, it makes it just more fun when you actually make it and stand there as last jumping trough the clock at the end.
I have been thinking that it would be really nice to have it instanced. So that you can run by yourself and not get “stressed” and covered by all the other players trying to race to the top. But, it isn’t such a big deal for me so I’m ok with it.
Also, the waiting times isn’t bother me at all. Sure, I’d like sometimes to start as soon as I get back on the platform and sometimes I’d like to wait a while but it just how it is and I’m ok with that as well.
Also, I do understand that some people (being it having a disability or just not the mind for it) can’t do this jumping puzzle. I don’t think they should make it easy. It’s hard for a reason. You’re supposed to feel like you’ve actually made it! Like it’s been hard! And you get an achievement and rewards for it. It wouldn’t be fun if it was so easy that everyone could get it.
I love the tower!
Been doing it on my character a few times after the first success I had. Now it’s not so hard. I helped out my boyfriend with the tower since he doesn’t enjoy jumping puzzles as I do and I must say, playing as an azura while norns and charr run at the same time. Now that, I find hard :P
I’m currently lvl 31 and I’ve been able to do everything as far as I know. Of course, the scavenger hunt is a bit tricky since it’s mostly in higher lvl zones but there are usually a few higher lvl players doing them and helping you out in the process.
