I’ve been wondering this since I started playing GW2 and got my first back item.
Why arent they showing in the character select screen?
I think it would be nice to be able to see the entire outfit for your character there, and I can’t really think of a reason for it to not show.

Well, I already quit the game during the last “update” because I could see where this game was going. Sad to see my predictions were more or less right.

The saddest part about this though is that people will be angry and kittened off at Anet for a while, they will then pretend to be listening to your complaints and afterwards ignore them completely, and after a while the remaining playerbase will have gotten used to the crappyness only to get kittened off again in the next patch/update.

Destroying things that aren’t broken and implementing systems that hurts their playerbase seems to be the new big thing in GW2.

I get that. I just don’t think Anet is going to give anyone something for a level six reward that they can sell and buy 30 dyes with. It’s too much reward for too low a level.

Like how you can get a Black Lion Ticket from the key at the lvl 10 quest and earn yourself 100 gold?

Here is a keyrun I did in 16 min and 32 seconds.
The bad part about this is that you have to get materials to level up cooking. But so far it seems to be the fastest way.

But yea, I’m also experiencing some lag. My main problem is getting disconnected randomly.

It’s probably a bug, since you’re downlevelled the vendor thinks you’re lvl 5

It takes me 15-20 minutes to get to level 10, and that’s “not pushing it.”

Can you tell me what race and class you were using?
I took the time while levelling yesterday. Only doing hearts I managed to get lvl 10 in about 1 and a half hour.

Level gated weapon skills are not a big thing. Play the game for 30 minutes and guess what? They are all unlocked.

But that means that when you equip another weapon you have never used before you instantly get all 5 skills on that weapon. And that gives NO meaning whatsoever in terms of Anets explanation that all of these weapon skills are overwhelming to new players and that they need time to learn.
I have a really hard time seeing why they’ve come to the conclusion that level gating the weapon skills was better than the old system.

I tried the new levelling system and this new player has the same issues with it as I do.
Level gating is bad.
If it’s for trial accounts then make it ONLY for them.
You really should not be dragging your already paying consumers into this.

The combat system is great.
But if I were you I would wait a couple weeks and check the forums again. New patch is bugged and not working as intended. At least I can not recommend it as it is now.
So come back when stuff has been sorted out and the game is working better.

My main issue with this feature pack is the level gating on skills.
This seriously needs to be reworked. I tried the new levelling system today and this (as well as skill point challenges) were my main concerns.

Once you have unlocked all the weapon skills for your current weapon, you can switch to another weapon and already have ALL of them unlocked. Doesn’t this defeat the purpose?

Also; no underwater attacks until lvl 8? Really bad since most of the starter areas (especially sylvari and asura) have huge areas underwater.

You should be encouraging new players to explore, not the other way around.

The rest I can get used to, but these things needs to be changed in my eyes.

People are also saying they get so much experience from doing hearts now, and I tried doing this. But after a little while I ended up being terribly underleveled for the next hearts, and since I couldn’t do my living story yet this was my main income of XP.
So I was forced to either do hearts that were 4-5 levels above me, go to another starting area of the game or start grinding mobs and events. Being taken away the option to start doing my living story ruined it for me.

Yes. It’s a bit weird that they wouldn’t put in any other dialogue here. It seems sloppy, so I’m gonna guess they just overlooked this for whatever reason.

Just thought I’d let you guys know of 2 things regarding skill point challenges before it’s unlocked for you.

In Shrine of Beetletun in Queensdale there is a quest giver that says: “Only one prize per winner! Sorry, kid. Go play, now. There’s plenty to do here at the carnival!”
But I haven’t beaten him or gotten any prize. Won’t this be really confusing for new players when they get this message? I bet there’s several other places that are like this as well.

The next thing is a bug that I found:
If someone else starts the skill point challenge and you join you will actually get the skillpoint, even though this shouldn’t be possible when it’s supposed to be locked for you. As you can see in the screenshot I am lvl 8 and have gotten the skill point.

Chris is saying there has been external miscommunication about the new system. Could it be that you guys realize you went too far with the removing of functions and level gating it too extreme, and it was not supposed to dumb down the game quite this much?

No not really. I m referring to some videos etc that aren’t quite factually correct in all areas and thus there are some misconceptions being propagated by those that have not played the through NPE yet.

ANet only accepts our feedback when we’re happy with their changes it seems. They never do anything about the negative feedback. The trait changes thread is still growing, yet they remain silent on the issue.

I think it’s more that they have to be vary of responding to criticism like this to save face.

I feel the same way. I bought 2 character slots when they were on sale. I feel cheated now.
I will quit the game if it stays like this.

The only exception seems to be skill points, which is okay because you can’t use the skills you buy with them anyway at low levels.

I’m sorry, but that is still really bad in my view. You will then have to go back to those maps and do all the skill points later in the game, when you could have simply saved them up for when you did gain access to them.
It makes it more like a grindfest; “Go here!” “Now go over there!” “Now go back here again!”, and it’s much less appealing to play. They’re taking away our choices in the game.

I’m trying to understand why you would bring updates like these to us.
I’ve seen so many people complain, new players regretting buying the game, veterans telling your new potential customers that they should stay the kitten away from your game. How can this be a good move for you?

You have to remember one important aspect to this: We are not China.
The game will not function here as it does in China.
Our gaming culture is very different, and for a good reason.
What ever happened to “Play your own way?”

Honestly, I have no idea why you would do this to the leveling system. I am sure you guys do not really think that the casual newbie gamer can’t comprehend having 5 skills unlocked at an early level. People are not that stupid, and it’s disrespectful to treat them as such.

Also, by not having vistas and skill challenges available at an early level it seems like you are trying to prolong the early game to distract from the lack of an endgame. That is the wrong way to go about it, and I am sure you also understand this.
You’ve effectively destroyed the fun in making alts, crippled the combat system and leveling experience, and removed a lot of the fun in exploring areas of the game for both veterans and new players.

I sincerely hope you will realize that what you are doing right now is a huge mistake. I hate seeing one of my favorite games being destroyed like this, and that is the reason why I’m writing this. Not because I’m mindlessly angry and want to kitten about something, but because I really care for the game and the great community.

This gaming community is the most kind and helpful community I’ve ever been a part of, and what you are doing now is tearing us apart.

I agree completely with you leman. This game has so much potential, but it’s wasted by bad management.

I will have no choice but to quit the game soon, because I’m starting to get really bored by this repetitive and uneventful gameplay. My patience is wearing thin. The only thing that has been keeping me here for so long is the great community, and anet has nothing to do with that aspect.

Also Dry Top chests gives a good amount of Dragonite ores. Farm there for a couple hours, do some major world events (Shatterer, Jormag, Teq, TT) and you will have a ton of dragonites in no time.
