There used to be a game called Guild Wars 1, with something called GvG in it. Plenty of fun – complex maps with different structures and scenarios, lots of strategy and individual skills involved. You had seasons, you had top teams, money prizes and I remember watching games on GvG TV ….
That’s way better than what you describe. And it will come, probably with an expansion or something.
The potential of something new and innovative in the land of Massive Multiplayer PvP is there – just not yet available
I never thought I would say this but…good job BP. We don’t really like you – but please take care of EB – we’re taking care of YB.
Karma.
“We do not sow” – I like it
Mags are the ultimate trolls, the kings of PvF – but they deliver, both on the field and the forum. Unlike the YB forum warriors.
They usually start fighting on weekdays (they dominate the end of the EU timezone especially) so do not count them out on Sunday evening. And the fact they lost in Gold will make them even more bloodthirsty in a match they think they should win. They won’t be burn out. You can count on them for good fights.
On the other side…..the moment SBI saw Yak Bend in the matchup there were no cheers – just the sound of blades getting sharpened. Beware Yaks – we are coming like the ironborn.. fear the Kraken.
This week was a week of healing wounds in WvW SBI. As an old time PuGger that has seen WM and fought the Titan Alliance, I can say I am extremely proud of my server mates.
A few months ago we were fighting in tier 4 and 5. Then a few guilds come (BAEST and DDLG, ABYSS, DR – forgive me the ones I forget). The reason they come was a good one – some leaving higher tiers, some leaving their servers: to find a place where they can do WvW for the fun of it without the pressure to win regardless of costs or to carry a full server on their shoulders. They wanted a place where they could be themselves and enjoy the thing they liked.
(I do want to thank TE and Star for his part in luring these great players to our server. I disagree with you on a lot of stuff – but SBI WvW is a much funnier place because of that)
There was never a plan to rise to tier 1 or two – in fact, when there were still 2 leagues planned we were placed at the bottom of the first one. Some suggested we should tank to get into the second one – we laughed at them.
A few weeks after we were in the mix for gold league – with Mag and SoS (FA was tanking, as we know it). Kudos to those 2 – that 3 way battle for a poisoned prize was the greatest moment in this League fiasco.
We started Leagues in the worst position possible – on top of the Silver. Nowhere to go but down. We had tons of transfers and our guilds could not get on WvW maps because of the queues. Then there were all kind of people out there. And weeks of stomping mixed with weeks of low coordinated efforts. Our community was under pressure.
Then this week I realized that losing to YB/EB was the best thing that could happen to us.
I was pleased with what I saw. People coming out to fight with no other motivation but the joy of killing enemies. Scouting, havocking, sieging, escorting yaks. Guilds doing their thing on the map and effectively – for several days our NA prime time was rocking against top and motivated opposition. Our WvW guilds were both effective and at the right level of insanity to be here – it was entertaining to follow them.
Most of those that read this were not playing GW2 when the SBI motto came out – so I will take the time to explain it:
Log in – no matter the score or the situation, be there. Don’t give up. Be there for you, be there for your servermates.
Rock out – play the best you can. Do whatever you can – as long as you are enjoying doing it. Bags, kills are irrelevant – being satisfied with your play and your people is what matters.
S…w the points – PPT are irrelevant because they depend on stuff you and your guild cannot control. You can’t be there 24/7 – focus on what you do when you are on. This does not mean you don’t care about victory – just that you can’t carry the weight of a loss on your shoulders.
SBI is a better place to be at the end of the Silver league than it was at the start.
SBI is doing fine indeed. We have a week of hard fights ahead of us, fights with little pressure and competent and motivated foes. The WvW casuals are less present – several WvW new leaders have stepped up – i have someone I trust following in every BL.
We might win or lose to FA – matters less since ranks are set. It will be a fight for glory and fun on all sides.
It’s WvW paradise right now in our matchup.
yep – you took a tower and three supply camps. Clear proof
It’s an obvious photoshop anyway. YB are proud warriors – they would never do that..
Oh wait.
BTW – you wanted EB to gain points last week that’s why you let them take half the EB – you don’t care that much right now. You are going to dump that ugly GF as soon as she’s not useful anymore.
Its disingenuous to suggest that SBI never benefited from a de-facto 2v1 during leagues. Its advantageous for the 1st and 3rd place servers both to fight the 2nd place server. Perhaps you didn’t notice during SBI/YB/IoJ, but YB spent a lot of effort fighting IoJ off our properties in order to secure that 2nd for YB.
I don’t think I said SBI never benefited from a 2v1. Maybe in a passive way. I’m not aware of any attempt of organizing one – the SBIers of old with WM and SF would just laugh at such a suggestion.
And the last one I’ve heard (the SoR/SoS incident, where a 2 vs 1 could win us a Gold league spot) barely lasted a few hours before being quickly disapproved by our community.
Anyways – I’m not in any command structure for SBI WvW but I try to collect info. If there ever was a 2v1 agreement from us it was well hidden.
Now, the possibility that YB would target only IoJ in order to make sure they would get second – makes a lot of sense, them being YB and all. But I doubt SBIers ever stopped attacking YB in that.
Edit – somehow your post (were you admitted to winning objectives and let EB cap) was magically deleted – go figure

For those of you who are unaware of it’s existence, come and join the server community and be more involved (as well as informed) with what is going on in your new (perhaps old) home.
Enrich your gaming experience. Join the family.
I get virus alerts when I visit your site.
Good
Told you it was worth doing that
There is no alliance. Our commander who constantly told us last week not to attack Yaks if we can help it, gave the “if it’s red, it’s dead” motto for the week. Since he was the one who kept having us not attack YB the week and kept saying there was an alliance then, but says there isn’t one now…we have no alliance. YB may consider you a bigger threat to their points…or they’re playing favorites, no telling with them.
Can I quote you on that ? I mean – the whole past week you kept claiming there was no alliance and now suddenly there was one ? When were you telling the truth ?
Oh right, this was just a sarcasm/troll post.
And I have frapsed on two occasions YB fighting us off an objective only to retreat and let EB cap it. Yea, photoshopped.
What I don’t understand is why YB and EB would deny the 2v1 – I’ve been WvWing since BWE and I have witnessed dozens of failed attempts at 2 vs 1. Usually it’s either the weaker one that targets only the middle one (like JQ was focusing on us and HOD would just…kill everyone on a whim) or you have some backstabbing moves at the end of the deal. YB and EB were faithful till the end, till friday morning. That’s good track record the next time they want to make a deal with some other server.
It’s very very hard to pull a 2v1 in this environment. Requires a lot of structure and discipline – nothing to be ashamed of. Many have failed.
And most of the SBIers are not blaming the 2v1. While it was frustrating, it was a reality check for us in many ways. A lesson to learn, the hard way. I still think SBI is a better place to be after this defeat than we were before, after 4 weeks of stomping others (including YB and EB) – the climate was really ugly.
What our foes do not realize is that SBI is a much better place to be after last week than it was before.
Log in. Rock out. S…w the points.
SoS gave SBI a great fight pre leagues to conquer that Gold league spot. It was an informed choice from their WvWers. “The Poisoned Prize” how they called it.
The good part is you get no fairweathers. Always someone to fight against.
The bad part is the lack of season rewards.
The whole concept for 1st place in silver gets more than last place in gold was flawed from the beginning – makes no sense.
sbi has proved to have immense numbers, but very low skill or tactics. you guys came into ebg keep 3-4 times when we werent outmanned and had close to 30. u wiped miserably in lords lol. but now were outmanned so it goes back to normal. not very smart tho when the points don’t count anyway since we get them b4 tick.
I like BP’s tactics… let us have everything while every person in your server holes up inside the keep with an AC.
And those 25 points we didn’t get for the tick could be crucial!dude. you guys had 50, we had 10, and our ac’s down like 25 of you. was a pretty dumb move on your part fornot rushing the ac. thanx for the bags tho. stormbag isle for the win.
I think it was more like we had a million and you had 5. Throwing numbers around is so fun.
What difference does it make anyways. AC’ing a chokepoint is so leet or something? When there’s nothing left to take on a map except the overly fortified keep of a server having everyone sitting on AC’s, I guess we don’t really have a choice. Congrats on holding your keep temporarily at the time?I guess i just don’t understand the mentality behind making fun of the server that’s beating you handily.
Nobody from SBI has come out and been ignorant, yet there’s been so many people from BP and CD that post trash like you just did. ‘Stormbag Isle’?
Again, it’s just a product of us holding most of your towers and you guys having whatever population left holed up in a keep on superior AC’s guarding a choke point.
If you want to sit in a keep like that and farm a few bags, good on you I guess, your keep will still fall eventually. But don’t blame SBI, it’s a result of the population disparity between the servers. There’s nothing we can do about that. It is what it is.
When BP is playing against NSP and IOJ and the exact same thing is happening, do you think it’s fair when they claim you blob, or only win because of numbers? Borlisbag Pass?
It’s just dumb and it needs to stop.
Try losing this match with some dignity. It’s just as hard to win with dignity and a lot more people should try it. Especially when the outcome is merely the result of population and coverage.Just because nsp and ioj don’t have the numbers like bp does does not mean we blob them all the time. Sbi is blobing 24/7 making the matchup so boring for u guys. I saw a whole sbi guild killing monsters in your bl cause that’s all there is too kill. Stop trying to make it like we blob like you guys. Least we allowed ioj and nsp to take back their stuff so everyone can get wvw exp, achievements etc. u have faced ioj in their bandwagon days before leagues, they had more then bp did but we beat them 2 out of the 3 weeks. We can only zerg in one map where sbi can do around 3. I actually talked to some sbi people and they r completely bored…
how are sbi doing on your achievements hmmm?
You talked to me for instance. Here is a screenshot of your valiant deeds.
Note that when the blue message says Stop it was a message to my party members to stop attacking. Also called them on TS.
Broken record suggestion: turn 7 day matchups into 7 one day matchups with resets every night.
The following assumptions I consider true:
1. The population imbalance does not reflect the number of WvWers on a server, but the numbers of WvWers that are willing to do WvW. The same server (SBI in my case) can have outmanned on all four maps one week (the SoR matchup) and queues two weeks later (like right now at NA prime time). Therefore balancing the population is not done by moving people from one server to another but by getting people from all servers to come out and play.
2. When the score is closer people come play more. I think it’s common sense. Anet did a lot of things to bring casual WvWers into the fight, but most incentives treat players like kids or guinea pigs. Achievement points, Siegerazer, PvE content, Dragonite, Karma etc.
Human beings have higher levels of motivation. The best long term motivation for a casual WvWer to play is the hope for a server victory not PvE rewards. The best long term motivation for a dedicated WvW guild group is the hope for an opportunity to good fights against structured and motivated enemy groups.
That’s why people play more on reset night and maybe 1-2 days after. SBI fought well the first 2 days of our SoR matchup – we knew there was no real hope to win the matchup but we kept it as close as we could. Past Monday, when they had 50k+ ppt there were outmanned buffs everywhere.
If you want people to come to WvW, if you want server communities to grow and build solidarity – you need to give them the hope for victory in every matchup – even if it’s partial victory. Winning one day of the SoR matchup, or even getting close, would have been incredibly positive for our server morale. If last matchup YB would have won the first 1-2 daily matchups against FA, they would have been thrilled regardless of the total match-up score.
The only thing that solidifies the WvW community on a server is significant and hard fought victories. Look for “Robbers Cave Experiment” on wikipedia.
Stomping EB and NSP by 200k ppt was pointless and frustrating for all sides. If there was a new reset every day it would have been a lot better for everyone.
Many solutions suggested involve complex mechanic changes and balancing. Let’s assume the game mechanics stay as they are. Reset nights are still heavy populated on most servers. 95% of the matchups are decided on Sundays. The WvW is meaningless past there, whether you win or lose as a server.
Simplest solution: instead of one 7day matchup have 7 one day mathchups. Each night is reset night. Each night battles have meaning again. A server could be crushed 6 days but mobilize and win the 7th. Each day you get points.
Right now in NA silver there is no way any server will beat either FA or SBI over a week – so the direct matches are all that matters. With 7 1day matchups, losing points to a mid population server could still happen.
I know that the 7 day matchups were introduced back when siege and upgrades were very expensive. Not anymore. I’m sure all servers would like the “start fresh” each day since it brings a lot more meaning to WvW fights.
The real problem is not that servers do not have WvWers – it’s that they stop coming out to fight once it’s clear who will win the matchup. It’s even worse with League (since before you could (in theory) fight for your Glicko score. Why would EB or NSP come out to fight right now ? the ranks have been decided on Sunday.
To fix population imbalance, you need to make WvWing interesting and atractive again, past reset night. People will gladly come and play if they feel they have a chance of winning.
Suggestion : instead of one seven day matchup, make it 7 one day matchups, between the same three servers. Reset at fixed hours. Points (5, 3, 1) after each day. This would give hope and a meaning to fighting, when capping or defending a keep can change the final score.
Winning is about “coverage” and not “skill” . Probably true.
IMO though, all servers have enough people to queue all maps all the time. Convincing them to do so is not easy and takes skill. A special kind of skill.
We had almost no BL queues last night in SBI.
Is there anyway I could support Mag from now till the end of the matchup ? Sending you some gold, some siege prints ?
I am depressed about what happened. I will not log in WvW again and not take any point. I will also advise my friends in SBI to do the same.
Also – keep in mind that rank predictions are based on points accumulated and assume you will keep them all week.
SBI had a huge reset night, when we had constant 200 PPT and often 300. The prediction system put us on rank 5, assuming we’ll keep it like this – but everyone knew it was not going to happen.
As soon as we dropped to a more stable and reasonable 100 ppt – we started losing projected rank. It was an artefact not a failure – we are still improving ourselves and our rank regardless of the trend. No tanking was involved.
And yes, Maguma (that I love to hate – a unlikable server that has managed to keep it’s identity over one year at least) deserves gold more than us and will do better there probably then SBI could. Then, in seven weeks, we will probably be in gold too – we’ll see what happens then.
Back when PrX were on SoS – there was no force that could defeat them in WvW (maybe in GvG but that does not matter). I hated those guys but had to admire them.
It’s PrX getting on SoS that got them up (much like WM pulled us, SBI, to T1). When these guilds left their respective server, the falling started.
When PrX was on, neither JQ or SBI could do much.
And you server pride blinds you.
I have none, that would be more your issue.
You have no server pride ? Interesting. And yes – this is probably an issue with some SBIers.
Joke aside – noone can anticipate what will happen. The debate is probably on on all servers, with pros and cons but no server is tanking. What will be will be.
FA is not tanking – they lost several WvW guilds to the transfer fever. We (SBI) fought them last week – and while they put up a good fight – Maguma was stronger. I can see very well FA dropping to silver, with no tanking intention.
The ones that should push for 6th there is Maguma – like all servers involved they are divided between pushing for Gold or Silver.
Crystal Desert is, surprisingly, the server that has the biggest impact on the race for Gold
What exactly did SoS do right now that makes you dislike us? We are a great group of folks.
who said I disliked you ? Maybe I like you – that was my message. Someone brought the past into it and I answered to that
So far there has been no major offensive stuff from SoS (few forum warriors but we have some on SBI too) – I would welcome a 2v1 against SoR.
Nobody is tanking – at least no server is. Some people might think it better to end in Silver on all 4 servers involved and decide to take a break from WvW. We have our Silver/Gold discussion in the open.
SBI has few WvW guilds – so they rely on militia mostly – and militia is getting demoralised now.
And SoS – I don’t really like you – you are associated with our Exodus. Agg had a part in it, so did PrX (they were too tough to beat ). And I disliked that Laylyn Illuminati leader. But I dislike BG more than you
WM did not leave SBI because of Agg – they did it because of Anet and maybe SBI. That was almost a year ago – few remember. We like or dislike you based on what you do now.
lets see how many guilds sor poaches/buy from sbi or sos this time. they already bought a guild from sos last matchup
sorry mate we dont have one of these http://blackgatewvw.com/forum/index.php?/topic/1405-bg-arms-race-fundraiser/
:PI see stuff like this, and it makes me wonder how SBI is doing so well, with so little. We don’t have a lot of large WvW specific guilds. We don’t have a huge WvW community organized as other servers. We have tons of pugs, and a lot of zergs aren’t guild zergs. But we manage to do well.
Makes me proud to be on SBI. And screw that arms race…that gold is better spent somewhere else.
And, SoR has already attempted to buy one guild that I know of. But, don’t they have the right to do that? And the guild has the right to accept or reject the offer. Man, when did freedom die?
I agree 100% with your post here. We are doing well given the conditions – too bad if our PuG morale dropped a bit. I have the feeling SoR is going easy on us – which I consider a bit disrespectful, yet a bit friendly, since many of them used to be SBI.
As for guilds being bought by SoR – why would people not go where they feel like they could be happy ? It would be a pity since we like all of them and (assuming it’s a new one) they just paid for transfers. But…as long as they’re happy, it’s all that matters.
Just for your info – a WvW SBI guild recently asked us to help them with gold to transfer on another server, since they felt the current WvW environment in SBI was not what they wanted. We don’t have a server fund, but I individually offered them 20 gold. True story bro, you can check it. Fortunately they changed their minds – they are great people to be around and good teachers.
Guilds and players are not just pawns in a game of power – they are friends and people we enjoy playing with.
After SOR has put WP’s in all your keeps, stripped you of your determination, removed your Will to challenge us, shattered your desire to even login to WvW. The cross server Karma Train will begin to take form. It is then, that WvW will call out to you once again. Flip, do not hold, do not engage, flip again and again and again.
Can all three servers maintain the desire to keep up the good fight until later in the week? Stay strong, keep it classy out there.
Sounds like a challenge ?
Huh? What Krash said is pretty much the server’s history. It’s true. I am not sure what you mean Kiltor.
He probably takes issue with referring to SoR as a bandwagon server, as would most if not all serious players on the server. Also, there’s a decent amount of inaccuracies in the post. The real game changer for SoR was back when TW and a couple of other guilds left JQ to escape the queues and moved to SoR. This move is what pushed SoR into the #5 spot, where they ran into BG and superior coverage for 9 weeks. Then free transfers ended and yes, some SBI moved to SoR but not a ton. SF and Rage for example moved to JQ. A couple guilds went to BG and elsewhere, and of course WM to Kaineng. Even still, SoR needed more than just a couple SBI guilds to get where they are today, and they did over time to their credit.
While the WM transfer is what really opened the floodgates, I would argue that LoD quitting the game had the largest impact on SBI, and set everything in motion. SBI was having to push way to hard after that to compete against JQ and SoS, and it was wearing on them big time. When the end of free transfers was announced, SBI was limping and the WM move ignited a rush for the door.
Wagons come and go. Some push a server to the top for awhile, and some never get over the hump. But in the end, no wagon lasts forever, so there’s really no point in calling them out.
Enjoy your match guys.
LoD left GW2 not SBI. They were awesome but WM was our WvW soul.
And several great asian guilds went for SoR. I won’t name them – they only left at the end so no hard feelings.
Other than that, you were right. So was Krash. We are all bandwagon servers when we win.
Let’s enjoy the fights.
This week just proves that T1 in NA needs its own league. Does anyone really want to go through 7 weeks of uneven matchups?
Seems SBI, SoS, Mag and even FA want to, according to the way they fight. Uneven matchup means that your people on the map are there for the right reason, lower queues and more fights to be had, against powerful enemies.
Why would I want to be elsewhere ?
and you speak for all those servers how? I seriously doubt many people would prefer to take a beat down every week vs having even matchups.
I’m relying on scores and presence. Any of those 4 servers could just throw the towel to get into silver for sure. None seems to do it – check the scores.

We missed you too death touch. You are the knight in shining armor of the maguma forum warriors – you were the spice that made me check the forums every day.
Must be so lonely in that boring matchup thread. I’m sorry for you.
Tier 2 and 3 are very interesting to follow, because of the gold league implications.
SBI did not expect to beat the nr.1 server in NA – yet they are not 600ppt ing us and we have good fights.
So – the score being close is irrelevant for the interest level in a matchup
The fact is that there are four servers for two spots in Gold – FA, SoS, Mag and SBI. I don’t know if it was intentional or not but each one faces a direct opponent – smart move if it’s not only rng.
Fact is – any 2 of these 4 could end in gold. We’ll only know Friday I suspect.
SoS and SBI are extremely close in PPT, the SoS strong timezone will show up later. SoR massacres us both equally. Then Maguma and FA – anyone’s guess what Maguma will do – they are the ultimate trolls right – they won’t miss the chance -that was friendly btw.
I mean – we played both last week and Maguma was clearly stronger than FA – yet now FA is winning and staying in gold.
Who knows – we’ll have to wait till the last days of the matchup. Great times.
Do you know of any case of a formal 2vs1 that ever worked ? Besides, if both SBI and SoS want the gold league – they have to beat the other, not SoR. With Mag tanking for silver, there is only one spot left in Gold.
But no worries – SBI are thrilled to fight SoR. Remember that 1 month ago we were ranked 13 or 14
You guys don’t get it. The purpose of ANet in WvW is not to create a balanced PvP environment where people can measure their skills. That’s for sPvP.
Their purpose is to get as many people as possible to play WvW. Regardless the scores, the fairness and hurt feelings.
Every change they made so far in WvW was intended to draw non WvWers into WvW. The new League system is the same
The new league system is not there to allow WvW groups to fight and see which is better. It was created to get as many nonWvWers in the game as possible. Almost free transfers and finisher rewards are just part of it.
And you can’t really blame them – WvW was meant to be “casual”, “inclusive” open field siege warfare since the beginning.
And I thought Mag was supposed to be the forum warriors ? geez – their reputation is surely overrated.
Hello to all SoR based SBI alumni – I still can’t forget that morning after your transfer when you came and stormed our Garrison (yes Mord Sith – looking at you ). But I can forgive…
We had great times fighting together – hope we’ll have great times fighting each other now. GL and see you on the battle field.
Sure. And, who’s going to come in second, when servers team up? Are you volunteering your server, Andrew?
Irrelevant. We have to stop thinking this way.
If two servers from 4 – 6 go up against a 1-3 server the 1-3 server is going to win no matter what. Servers 4-6 are going to come in 4th – 6th place no matter what in the final standings in the leagues. It doesn’t matter who gets 2nd and 3rd.
What a 2v1 would allow is a match that is more fun to play. What is the complaint that everyone has? That they get stomped – not in score necessarily but that its not fun to play because the other side so vastly outnumbers them.
Well guess what? If #5 and #6 queue #1’s home BL, they have twice as many people as #1. They can have good fights that way on that BL.
I’m sure the 4-6 servers will enjoy playing for 4-6th place for 7 weeks.
Maybe not the servers – they are virtual worlds – but the players there will enjoy it for sure.
Do you realize the excitement when you have a 320 ppt against the nr.1 server in NA even if it’s only for 20 mins ? When you were r14 a month ago ? The overall score matters not – we will get crushed over the week, when SoR manages to get the WvWers past their queues or when SoS oceanic tsunami wakes up – but it will be glorious !
I think some clans started to get a taste of gold and thought it wouldn’t be as easy as they thought compared to when they were facing mid silver opponents.
I mean we already know most people on SBI don’t really have any loyalty to the server, and SBI as a community obviously doesn’t really care either. They’ve been trying for months to recall clans that originally bandwagoned off to other servers during SBI’s first major exodus. Talk about whoring yourself out for short-term PPT.
Now SBI has a bunch of clans that can’t come close to pulling their weight and are hitting a brick wall of skill in the form of FA and Mag despite their superior numbers. They’ll jump ship soon enough.
Biggest difference between Mag and SBI: If a clan leaves Mag to bandwagon onto another server we’ll tell them to stay the hell off Mag. If a clan leave SBI to bandwagon onto another server, they’ll pay for your transfer back.
Well – i never thought to say that – but I agree with you, at least in part. It is indeed the biggest difference between Mag and SBI – we care about our people. Several guilds left at the exodus, because they wanted something more and better – talking about guilds that were there at the founding of the server, people of high quality and good friends.
Guess what – we don’t hate them. At least I don’t – some others might but it’s not because we lost rank and ppt – it’s because we lost important people.
Yes – I would welcome them anytime back, even if it’s just guesting for some PvE events. They actually did that and it was tons of fun.
Maguma sees those as bandwagoners and deserters. We see them as SBI alumni, “raised and trained on SBI” – that’s from one’s signature.
I guess it’s a matter of age – when you’ll be old enough to have a family and significant people around you, you’ll understand what I mean. Meanwhile carry on, being a teenager and having extreme opinions is only natural.
SBI is not ready for the gold league. Not yet – but we’re working on it.
And we would really love to get in Gold, even if it meant staying on 6th all the time – so much fun to be had and stuff to learn.
Any sort of reliable prediction should however be postponed till Saturday, when we’ll know the last matchup. I hope we get SoS.
Very hard to judge from the forum wars but has SBI increased the overall lead since the weekend? If so good going, Mags has always been strong mid week.
SBI had a very strong reset night, probably due to enthusiasm and coverage. Things settled during the weekend – forces were rather equal. We clearly lost the PPT battle to Mags yesterday NA primetime mostly because our militia was wiped repeatedly by the Mag structured heavy necro based forces. It was a long overdued lesson – we still lack the level of structure and coordination needed for T1-2. We are leading in PPT probably because of their coverage gaps – but we lost the NA evening the 7th of october and we are the first to admit it.
I’m curious how the WvW SBI scene will react to that humility lesson over the week. I’m hopeful because I trust our commanders – we may even lose the ppt race but I’m sure we’ll manage to turn it into a good gaming experience.
After the first pages of this mathch up I thought something was wrong.
I mean – we had Mags actually fighting in the game and sometimes even polite in the forums ? Umpossible.
But now all it’s normal again – see the last few pages with 90% of the posts being from the same mag PvF warriors throwing insults left and right and congratulating each other. Like all Mag matchup threads ever.
It’s ok guys, keep on, you will get this thread to 20 pages before it gets moderated, like it always happens. We love you like that – never change or the GW2 universe would be too boring.
Does this mean that DPS from FA will leave too ? ouch – we faced you several times and we usually had to call the cavalry to help. There were good fights – a fine guild for sure.
I don’t think SBI would fit the profile you look for. Unless someone wants to sponsor you from his own pocket, we do not have a server fund to finance transfers.
And we cannot guarantee we’ll be silver either – things are hectic. We could end in tier 2 or in tier 4 in a matter of weeks.
Good luck though – DPS is a good guild and would make a worthy addition to any server.
Guys stop answering to this one – he’s clearly trolling – he’s irrelevant. Won’t give his name since, as any good troll, he would report me for “harrasment”. There is no sense in what he says, except wanting to make us react.
Mags forum warriors may enjoy trolling, but the true ones are skilled trolls, even fun to watch when you are on the receiving end. I mean – they do it in a manner that will always make you smile at the skill deployed.
This one uses brute force – compared SBI to “genital warts”. Said we suck even at orr temple runs. That we have no identity and that we smell like kitten. Are you going to keep biting on his bait ?
Is it just me, or did SBI take the night off?
Nope – this is the real SBI. I think every serious poster from SBI (Bannok being the most knowledgeable IMO) said that we probably overperformed and we could use a cold shower.
And Mag/FA were tickled and came out to play. It will get fun.
Rng in the last week will decide. And seeing SBI losing points the NA primetime tonight is refreshing. I mean – we knew we were not that good as to have 500+ppt servers like FA or Mag.
Hoping this will clear the SBI skies if we lose a battle or two. We needed a reality check … we were rolling for too long and. We’ve been in Tier 1-2 long enough to know we’re not there yet in coverage and skill.
However, the worst scenario would be to stay as top of the silver league – you can guess what SBI would become then. We’ll survive though – we survived worse.

“We are all like bricks of an unbuilt wall. With patient and careful application of bonds, our foundation will become unshakeable. Come and help us build. Come and create a GW2 Legacy.” – Yulo
You cannot be serious.
You have no idea how serious Yulo is. He never laughs. I know he believes every word he wrote there.
If you have to compare the rise of SBI, then TC might be the better comparison than Kaineng.
I think it is exactly like Kaineng. TC was more a steady progression of a guild here and there over time, no massive jumps in ranks, at least as far as I remember.
Our progression was steady – it was hard to notice it since we had poor matchups for the last weeks.
Kaineng’s rise happened when WarMachine moved there from SBI, taking many of our WvW dedicated guilds (and gathering others) and stating that they wanted to go from the last tier to the first. They had 600+ ppt constantly till T2. When they stalled in T2 they crashed.
On SBI, just like in TC (a server that we appreciate and respect more than many others) we have great pride in our community and extra WvW stuff. You know PvE, special server wide events, good forums and so on. WvW is one part of what we do – it’s going well now and that’s great.
Even if we drop again to T4 there’s no big deal. We’re enjoying it right now. And yes maybe our guilds and people will be bought (but why come to a t4 server in the first place ? there was never talk about us going T1-2 back when most of these transferred. I’m sure they could have been bought back then). But some people will stay and I’ll still play with them. PvX.
The difference between the rise of HoD, SoS or Kaineng and the current rise of SBI is that there was no planned effort. All three of those had a major WvW guilds alliance moving and aiming to take the top tier. There is no such thing in SBI – heh, most of the new guilds moved in precisely to avoid the top tier.
We were comfortable in T4. Then a few joined and liked it. We got a bit higher ranked, then more joined and…it happened. Now people come out and fight – there is some guild coordination (fortunately) but there is not major “race to the top” pressure. It will end soon probably, but it will be glorious.
Unlike the other servers I mentioned – we know it won’t last and we’re trying to enjoy it while it’s here.
If you have to compare the rise of SBI, then TC might be the better comparison than Kaineng.
@kuora
Please. And it’s even funnier how the man decided on NSP … who’re currently favored to be the top dog of Bronze League.
Honestly, I’d have a lot more respect for the guy if he backed his own beliefs by going for a “lowball” server.
to be honest when he announced he’ll go to NSP there were not favored – and we had only two leagues
A few days after…bam…. three leagues. Lucky one, right ? /puts off tin foil hat.
