I don’t have a delay. Please try to picture the situation in your head to try to comprehend it before you dismiss it. You want to enter DS as soon as possible. Aka as soon as your CD is up. There is no time to sit there and time it perfectly when you’re trying to survive. Sometimes in the heat of things that can cause you to press a key one too many times. Mechanical mistakes are not l2p issues, they happen for everyone. In varying frequencies perhaps, but everyone nonetheless.

When my shroud is about to come off its CD and I’m being focused on in a group/zerg fight with my health dropping like crazy, you can bet your kitten I’ll be spamming the shroud key, as a split second delay can mean the difference between life and death. Perhaps a 1 second CD is a bit excessive, but I’d much rather deal with this “inconvenience” and not being frustrated over those occasional times I just make a key press mistake (which is not an l2p issue, mistakes like that simply occur now and then even for the good players).

We can ignore those people and have fun. Honestly, I figured that out as a kid when it came to toys.

But what about those people that get their fun from having rare items? Shouldn’t they be allowed to have fun then?

Those people derive fun from denying it to others. Now, in the real world, your freedom stops when it starts infringing on mine. I don’t see a reason why it should be different in the game.

Brb, going to let people who run/win lotteries irl know they’re infringing on mah freedoms and should send me cash as compensation.

The issue with rewards as I see it

+1

I think the new zones are moving in the right direction regarding this. Drytop has the ambrite weapons and Silverwastes have the carapace armor. While perhaps not the most sought out items by everyone, they are still unique to the zones and give reasons for players to spend time there. I hope this trend of ingame armor and weapon skins that don’t come from the gem shop, but from new zones continues.

I don’t know if it’s feasible to add similar rewards to all the old zones at this point, although if it could be done slowly over time, it would definitely give more reasons to revisit them. I would have said add a skin here and there as reward for map completion, but I don’t know how they’d handle all the people who have already finished those maps. Free skins just doesn’t seem that interesting.

I’m not a big fan of SAB myself, but I understand that people wanted to see it return this year. I sort of thought it would as well. Although perhaps, considering the bullkitten that spewed from people’s mouths during the last release, I can also understand Anet taking a step back and re-evaluating if it is something they want to spend additional time developing.

Remember, people ripped into the work done for the last release to the point where the dev that designed said he’d learned his lesson in regards to pouring so much effort into it. He was really hurt by what people spit out as “feedback” for his effort, so I really wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t want to do anything with it for a while.

This pretty much. We say we want SAB, but we’ve only ourselves to blame for taking a dump on the second release. I wonder if Josh even wants to work on it anymore… I do hope that he finds it in his heart to forgive us ungrateful kittens. Whatever the case, I do want it to come back badly. And if it does, I hope world 3 is even harder than world 2, like it was planned to be.

but there is absolutely no reason why the focus should be taken away from the zerg and WvW should degenerate into a series of small squad based fights all over the map.

“degenerate” is a pretty strong and emotional word choice. it’s also pretty insulting to anyone that might happen to like such small squad based fights all over the map.

ps: your fun is not more important than my fun.

Well sorry for putting a bit of emotion into my posts. Do you also feel the same way about people who employ the term “blobbing”? I still don’t see how zerging is preventing you from having your type of fun. Small scale fights are still present in WvW. Just don’t look for them next to a zerg.

WvW population imbalance is a whole other issue and will not be solved with penalties to massive combat, unfortunately.

spend a week trying to play WvW while not joining/following any groups over 5.

lol you think I never roam? How about instead you spend a week on TS with a solid organized zerg fighting other zergs? Or is the unavailability of such a group the core of your problem?

I was not aware zerging prevented anything. Sounds more like people want the game changed to focus on THEIR preferred playstyle because they cannot or do not want to adapt themselves.

It’s a punishment because people keep coming up with various penalties to massive grouping, like in this very thread. Trying to discourage a playstyle because o.m.g. not enough people play the way they want to play WvW.

It sounds like you want the game not to change because it focuses on YOUR preferred playstyle because you cannot or do not want to adapt.

Zerging has been, is, and forever will be the primary strategy to any and all PvP content in any MMO. This is the first that uses it to the near exclusion of everything else though. It’s also the only one where ANet appears to be deliberately designing the game to enforce zerging.

You bet. You know why? When I bought the game WvW was advertised as having large scale epic battles. That’s what it was all about. That IS the focus. There is still place for roaming and havoc squads, they play an important role, but there is absolutely no reason why the focus should be taken away from the zerg and WvW should degenerate into a series of small squad based fights all over the map.

Please reduce or dilute the ZERG.

How about people get on public TS/Vent whatever, find a good commander, learn why organized zerg vs zerg combat is fun and stop trying to come up with dumb ideas to punish a playstyle they don’t like?

What is this ‘unpredictable and unfair’ content you mention? When you play a platformer or an action game, do you know all the enemy placements in advance or what their attacks do? A modicum of frustrating obstacles is essential to a successful game. It’s by overcoming these frustrating challenges that you get your reward: a sense of accomplishment. If you cannot deal with the slightest frustration my advice is to stay out of SAB, it will only get harder from now on.

We all take our sides, and we all want things to go our way, but even so… all these complaints are just completely unfair to Josh.

He’s extremely passionate about his creation, and the incessant whining from both camps (“Too hard!” vs. “Too easy!”) has to be beyond draining for him. Surely people must know what it’s like to create something you think is really neat and awesome, only to have it be met with waves of dissatisfaction and demands for change. He has demonstrated a profound ability to take it all in stride, thus far, but even so, it has to be tough for him.

While much of the criticism may be useful, the attitude a lot of people have with their complaints is just frustrating. Josh has his own vision here, and I think it’s both absurdly selfish and completely unfair for people to say “it has to be easier,” or “this is such a failure compared to original SAB,” or “what a blatant cash-grab,” or “stop ruining the integrity of SAB by catering to casuals,” or whatever other judgmental absolutes they’re coming up with.

It’s obvious that most of the people here love the concept of SAB, so why do we constantly have to complain about its flaws instead of cherishing the positive? All of us are going to have different problems with it, but if we all like the idea of it as a whole, can’t we just be a little nicer and more accepting of what it is? Take the good with the bad? I mean, I’d love to see the difficulty (even in normal mode) maintained and ramped up even further, but I understand that’s a minority viewpoint and unfair for the people who can’t handle said difficulty. I still love SAB and what it represents, so why do I need to rudely make demands for something better?

It’s a passionate project from an amazing developer. Don’t blunt that passion by complaining every time Josh makes a change that you are not happy with or does something that fails to appeal to your specific fantasy and desire.

Both sides could be happy if there just was an original version of TM, and the “new” Normal mode.

That’s probably not worth the hassle to implement though. I was upset at first that I didn’t get to try W2-2 and W2-3 TM in “mint” condition, but now that the initial kneejerk reaction has passed, I realize I will still enjoy the hell out of doing those zones. I apologize for making a couple complaining posts and hope Josh doesn’t let all the whining get to him. SAB is and will continue to be one of the best things this game has to offer.

did u not read the post above ?

Not online, and not mad. Just letting you know that you better stay inside a zerg or you are going to for repair.
Facts aren’t anger, they are just facts. I can drop you with little to no effort.

you’re cool. drop me harder

No argument means you agree.

Don’t get me wrong, you are great at rallying players to a zerg, a semi competent leader, just a bad player.

thanks, my build is full toughness and healing power, i heal people around me and take a lot of damage, it was built to support a group/zerg. it wasnt meant to 1v1 people

Keep telling yourself that if it helps you sleep at night. It won’t make you better as a player, but as long as it puts your mind at ease.

Kalkz has a point lol this is WVW not SPVP, peeps IN wvw should build there builds to compensate the groups not for 1vs1 action

you can sit there and troll him all you like but at the end of it all IF he wasnt built that way he would be far worse as a commander like a few commanders ive seen fighting us, you can spit on them and they die. WVW is not SPVP.

If what Kalkz was saying was true, then I would agree. But in both WvW and sPvP your build should always be set up for group cohesion and use of combos. That really doesn’t change (You should also have multiple builds ready and the gear depending on what you are doing). For a character with a lot of toughness and healing, he drops like a lead balloon. Maybe some of you folks on Borlis can figure out what he does wrong. I have fought some VERY tanky characters, and Kalkz is not one of them.

That’s so relevant. I think it’s too relevant..

I completely agree, much like the lead balloon, one hit and Kalkz runs away sacrificing every PuG to save his/her own hide.

Much like the title and description of the video suggest, there is a lot of BS flying around in this thread.

Taking advantage of terrain to gain an upper hand is not cowardice. It’s called tactics. Sorry our commander was smart enough not to play into your hands. We may not have won those fights, but for what it’s worth that move accomplished its purpose perfectly. If you enjoyed the fights you could at least be a good sport about it.

Also, in case it wasn’t clear (because you went from them to “you”), I am not from WaR. People on Maguuma generally go where they are needed, not to carry out some sort of millennial rivalry.

I am aware you are not from WaR. I was adressing them in that part, not you. I was not however aware that WaR was needed in BPL when both potential points and actual points left BP in third. Also people are not mad because some sort of “deal” or double teaming didn’t happen (at least I know I’m not). I’m upset because people made a promise and didn’t stick to their words. That’s all. But don’t worry, now that I’ve vented I already feel much better, so back to lurking.

Why? Just fight them. They are not going to get mad because you fight. The blood is only bad because of forum warriors.

Edit: vvv Case in point vvv

It’s not about them getting mad. It’s about those of us on Borlis with a positive opinion of WaR being faced with disappointment when it turns out that the pretty parting speeches had no substance. You went to help ransack BPL because a guild was talking trash about you? That’s your excuse? It’s one thing to leave, but you’ve just added insult to injury by picking on the server that’s fallen on hard times as it is. Which is fine, do what you want. Just don’t try to play the victim on the forums afterwards.
