Botter reporting - any way to find out the result?

What I think would be funny, is if all the sudden some Hammers start to fall from the sky, and then smack the bots with the sound “BAN” going off at contact.
But hey, I’m just demented.

“Well, if I told you — hand on heart — we smited (smote?) more than 3,000 bots this afternoon, would that make you feel a little more cheery?

Sorry this quote isn’t neat and tidy… there’s not an obvious way to quote for me. Gaile, this is excellent news, but I just want to point out this is the first INKLING that there has been any movement on the bot issue in almost 2 weeks. I know this may seem morbid and maybe a little demented, but maybe someone could put up a “Bots Killed” counter on the main page, just so that it doesn’t feel like all us players are doing is just yelling into a brick wall when we report these bots?
Thanks, and I know it’s “Rock devs Hardplace” out there.
I know, I know, bots are the current topic du jour and the cause for much consternation. I have read Gaile’s response about the dev team working on tools to kill these things, and I do appreciate their effort. But I would like to ask that the dev team and the community moderators come stand on our side of the glass for a moment. Right now we’ve been told that 1600 bot accounts have been closed out (and, as far as I know that’s across all the servers.) While that’s a nice number, I think I can see about 300 bot accounts on any given night on Kaineng server. Extrapolating, I can guess that the 1600 that were killed off were actually a small drop in a very large bucket. I also understand that the tools are there to help the dev team find out how these bots are working, and come up with a permanent solution for them. However, at this point I fell like I’m just urinating on a forest fire with any of my reports. NONE of the bots that have been reported by me have been shut down, and there are events in the areas where these bots are hanging out that are simply bugged in an incomplete state. Can I say there’s a direct correlation, no; but it sure feels like it. In addition to this, I feel as if I can’t come to random peoples aid when they are downed or dead simply because I can’t tell if they are a bot or a real person that has had a stroke of bad luck.
In the blog post a month (I believe) ago, there was mention of tying Google’s authentication program in with logging on, in order to help mitigate the hacked account problem. Please, for the love of this game, tell me that we can expedite that process? Making the login process harder for automated system may just slow these bots down enough to make it non-profitable for the RMT companies (and yes, I’m fully aware that THEY are the real beneficiaries of the bot system.)
If the bots aren’t the #1 priority, can they please be made #2? The whole problem is dishearting to see.
Hello Wonderful Dev’s.
I have an idea that would make my game just a inch better then it is right now. Would it be possible to put some sort of marker or flag on items that we have spent Karma on?
I would like this so that we would be aware that if there is a rune in the item we really like, we aren’t going to be able to salvage it no matter how much we really want to.
Thanks, and keep up the grand work.
^ This. Also, since the tools are ending up as B. o. P., could the description reflect that? Right now they look like a normal item if you spend copper on them so it seems odd that you can’t transfer it between toons if you haven’t actually equipped them.
I know that this was brought up before, but I missed the result on it.
Devs: I know your up to your eyeballs in River Drakes, but would it be possible to put in the “Gold Seller” or “Gold Bot” option in the reporting pull-down. I know I can use either Scamming or Spamming options currently (and I DO use Scamming as my primary weapon on the kitten-loving jerks trying to ruin my game.), but I feel that “Gold Seller” may make the review process a little quicker behind the scenes. Just a thought.
Jason,
Just to add my 2 copper, my wife and I have been playing through her Silvari story line. Both machines are running via the same router and both of us have the same dropped lines. However, and this is something that may have been missed, it’s not JUST the audio that isn’t playing, it’s the facial animations. The Text is on screen, and the characters do the “living shift around” stuff, but no lip movement. The odd thing with us last night was it happened to be BOTH lines from the Pale Tree that got clipped, the one that starts the cut scene and the one that ends it. All of the rest of the line in that scene were just dandy (and I can’t tell you the name of the mission, it was 9 pm and my memory is garbage, but it was the one you encounter at level 26, just before you pick which of the three orders you want to work with). Anyway, hope this helps to isolate the issues.
I found 2 comic (to me, at least) Reference in the Sylvari area. The dynamic quest is to talk to 4 or 5 golems. In the discussion tree there is a item that says “Input: Zeppelin” To which, the response from the golem is “Made of Lead”. (Yes, Led Zeppelin the band). A different golem has a different input about “Cake”, to which the response is something to the effect of “Dubious about your motives.” (This one is a BIT more tangenty. As people who have played Portal know, the evil computer is constantly using Yummy Chocolate Cake as a motivation for you to complete all the deadly experiments.) There have been a couple others, but nothing that jumps up in my mind.
Count me in on the “Gold Seller” option for reporting. I call it “Spamming” because it’s bloody garbage, and I don’t even READ spam on my e-mail.
